Who we are

We believe that all women and girls have the right to reach their potential and to live their lives free from poverty and violence. We are passionate about what we do. We know it makes a difference.

Through our work we know that women and girls affected by poverty, trauma and abuse have the potential to transform their lives. We support them by providing a safe environment and high quality gender-responsive and trauma-informed support.

New Dawn New Day has worked to support the wellbeing of women and girls in Leicester and Leicestershire for over 30 years. We started out as a community-based women’s centre in the 1980s, and we now deliver a range of services to vulnerable and socially excluded women designed to meet their multiple and complex needs.

Our culture and values

Our approach to working with women is holistic, non judgmental and trauma informed. We use an approach which works with the whole person, not just one issue or problem. Everything we do is determined by the needs of the women we work with and support. We are committed to developing and training our staff and volunteers to meet those needs, in an environment that is supportive, collaborative, and enables women to rebuild their lives.

In addition to providing accessible services, New Dawn New Day also offers women the opportunity to feel a sense of belonging and validation along with the chance to build interpersonal connections through peer support, assuring women that they are not alone in their struggles.
