Here at Youth4Youth, we have grown a strong, tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. Our growing team of volunteers all contribute, significantly, to the impact that we have as a charity on our direct beneficiaries, regardless of the department that they work in of the level of time that they are able to commit. Our services primarily offer a peer-support network to young people right across the UK, allowing them to access a peer mentor who is of a similar age to them and somebody that they feel more comfortable speaking with.

If successful, you will be joining a growing team of diverse, but likeminded individuals, collaborating to increase the reach of the Charity and improve support provisions available to young people. All of our volunteers and employees are remote workers, but that doesn't stop us keeping in touch and maintaining a strong positive culture amongst our whole team.

About the role

As Youth4Youth continues to grow, we are focusing on strengthening the long-term financial sustainability of the Charity. We are seeking 3 - 4 experienced individuals to join the Board of Directors of a new Commercial Trading Subsidiary (Y4Y Trading Ltd, yet to be incorporated). This is an exciting opportunity for individuals to have a material impact on the success of the wider charity by promoting and ensuring commercial excellence throughout all commercial activities. 

Responsibilities 

• Attend 4 to 6 Board Meetings per year, each up to 1.5 hours in length and will be held remotely via teams. 
• Hold ultimate authority, in line with all management agreements between Y4Y Trading Ltd and Youth4Youth Ltd, to ensure the success of all commercial activities.
• Hold legal responsibility for the subsidiary entity, ensuring that all statutory requirements are met ahead of deadlines. 
• Constructively challenge opinions and biases to ensure the right decisions are made, with the ultimate aim of delivering maximum return to the charitable group.
• Providing scrutiny of executive and business performance in meeting agreed strategy, plan, goals and objectives, as well as monitoring reporting of performance.

Skills 

• Extensive strategic or leadership experience in relevant areas, including procurement, sales, operational management, vendor management, business development and other key commercial areas.
• Strong communication skills, able to actively challenge and drive decisions forward to the right outcome.
• Ability to foresee problems arising and present solutions to solve potential problems.
• Experience in commercial planning and budgeting desired.

The hiring process

The hiring process for a Commercial Trading Subsidiary Board is slightly different to our standard process. Candidates should understand that the process entails:

• A written expression of interest for the role, including a cover letter and CV
• An initial interview, with the interview panel made up of the Group CEO & Chairperson and the Group Commercial Director (Chair of the Trading Subsidiary)
• Successful candidates will be nominated to the Board of Trustees for the Group Charity to be put to a vote

Position Overview

Based in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin in the southeast of Madagascar, this post will provide support to the WASH, Schools and Solar projects implemented by the NGO. The successful candidate will work within a combined national and international team to assist in the development of projects, from initial planning stages to final evaluations.

Primary responsibilities include the writing of donor reports and proposals, providing additional support to the project team surrounding project management, and monitoring and evaluation. The role is predominantly office-based with some bush travel. The diversity of activities undertaken will provide a wide-ranging experience for an early career development professional who can effectively and efficiently deal with a comprehensive range of tasks related to the complex world of overseas development.

It is essential that the post holder is able to work in English to a high standard and it would be desirable to have at least basic French. Candidates who do not meet these criteria will not be considered.

Location: Fort Dauphin, Anosy Region, Madagascar

Timeframe: 1 year, extendable

Terms and conditions: Voluntary with local monthly stipend towards accommodation and contribution to insurance of £650

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Write project reports, to a high standard of English, that clearly demonstrate the successes and challenges of the WASH and Education infrastructure projects, learning from the project and providing clear budgetary information
• Compile funding proposals based on past evaluation, team discussion, and international best practice in an engaging and professional manner
• Conduct internet searches and searches through SEED’s funder database for potential donors to fund projects
• Take a leading role in gathering statistics and ensure that all existing statistics relating to the projects are accurate
• Work alongside the Communications and Media Officer writing regular social media updates, blog posts, and website copy
• Support the development of projects that fulfill local needs and sit within the aims of SEED, taking into account research findings, contextual constraints, government objectives, and SEED’s previous experience
• Conduct research into international best practice with regard to WASH and Education infrastructure programmes and take the lead in discussing these with the team
• Monitor and update project trackers according to project activities, ensuring the project is on track to meet project indicators and objectives
• Take an active role in project management meetings, leading these where appropriate
• Take an active part in international team meetings and supporting other members of the team
• Work with national staff in increasing their skills and capacity, providing mentoring or training where appropriate
• Assist in data collection and basic analysis where required, assisting the MEL Specialist in developing monitoring and evaluation tools, and completing MEL reports for projects
• Work alongside the Programme Manager and Head of Finance in developing and managing the budgets relating to projects
• Maintain a database of projects and funders alongside the UK team in London
• Form part of the team representing projects or SEED when required
• Liaise with the UK team in London ensuring clear communication at all times
• Ensure all of SEED’s policies and procedures are evident throughout the work of the department, including those for safeguarding, whistleblowing, and anti-corruption, and undertake continual training to ensure these are promoted at all times
• Complete other ad-hoc tasks as required by the WASH and Schools Project Coordinators, Programmes Manager, Head of Department, and Director of Programmes and Operations to further the aims and work of the organisation.

Person Specification

• Hold an undergraduate in or relating to WASH, international development, or have transferable skills or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 1-3 years’ professional experience in securing funding, project management, donor compliance, and donor reporting
• Demonstrate excellent writing skills, previous experience in grant-writing is an asset
• Demonstrate sound knowledge and keen interest in Environment and Sustainable Livelihoods, Community Health, WASH and Education infrastructure, and their interface with international development; previous experience in WASH, education, or community-based work would be an asset
• Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to SEED’s ethos and approach, and be a good ambassador for SEED at all times
• Have passion, curiosity, and motivation for the job and the ability to enthuse others
• Have the ability and desire to work with teams from different economic and cultural backgrounds, and across multiple language barriers

Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Planning fundraising events and activities like cake sales, quiz nights and barn dances in Mid-Sussex RH15, RH16, RH17, BN6, BN45.
• Providing the treasurer with information on funds raised from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising events organisers have the exciting and varied role of helping plan and deliver local fundraising events to raise the vital funds needed to help our feline friends. Our fundraising events organisers use their passion for cats and people to plan cake sales, barn dances, quiz nights and everything in between.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Planning fundraising events and activities like cake sales, quiz nights and barn dances in Mid-Sussex RH15, RH16, RH17, BN6, BN45.
• Providing the treasurer with information on funds raised from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

A bit more information about this role and the team

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

The Mlambe Project builds school infrastructure in Malawi Africa, one of the poorest countries in the world.  We change lives through enabling access to education by transforming classrooms from "under a tree" (literally) into fully functional school blocks. We use environmentally sustainable techniques and local workers so the money gets reinvested in the communities we serve.  We do this work in partnership with our sister NGO that is Malawi based, ensuring that our priorities are aligned to the local community. We are 100% volunteer based so 100% of every dollar/pound we raise has a direct impact. The role:

• Trustee position at a UK registered charity
• Opportunity to work on social media/web channels (if interested)
• Fundraising via various channels (primarily grant applications)
• Working with our Trustee team (USA, UK and Malawi)
• Fiducuary, statuatory and regulatory responsibilities of a Trustee/Board Member
• We are open to any level of commitment i.e. board, committee, advisory, volunteer

The HMSA is a small and dynamic charity that helps those living with hypermobility syndromes (and carers and families) to be independent and live well. We also provide education for professionals in social care, health, teaching and local authority employees. We have big plans to expand our offer to our members and professionals, as well as raise the profile of the charity and hypermobility syndromes.  We are seeking to appoint up to 2 new trustees.  Recognising that most people with these conditions present and are supported in primary care, we are particularly keen to recruit someone with a background in Primary Care to help us develop our plans. We are also interested to hear from anyone with experience of strengthening social media channels and comms, especially within a small charity setting.

 The Trustee role involves:

•  Preparing for and attending quarterly board meetings – 2 hours in the evening or a half day on a Saturday (half online/half in person if possible). The in person meetings are likely to be in central London.
• Providing support/guidance to the other Trustees, the CEO as well as staff/volunteer team. This may include small group working in between Board meetings.
• You may also be asked to participate in sub-committees as required.
• Developing and supporting our Clinical Advisory Group and/or Comms work
• Promoting the HMSA to primary care and other health and social care professionals or other relevant external audiences.
