About the Role
This committee makes decisions on grants from the World Mission Fund and has been set up in such a way as to maximise mutuality in decision-making. By making use of easier communications through technology, we believe that we are in a position to share decision-making in a way that was hitherto not possible just a few years ago.
Grants from the World Mission Fund are decided by this sub-committee of the Global Relationships Committee, entitled, ‘The World Mission Fund (WMF) Grants Committee’, to which eleven persons, are appointed as follows:
- A Chair, who is a member of the Methodist Church in Britain (MCB) and a member of the Global Relationships Committee.
- A second member of MCB, with an especial responsibility to ensure grant giving is made in accordance with Standing Orders.
- A representative of the Methodist Church in Ireland.
- Two representatives from Partner Churches or Organisations, recommended by the Partnership Co-ordinators, from each of the four geographical regions to which we relate globally: Africa; Asia–Pacific; the Americas; Europe.
This particular role is for the second member of MCB with special responsibility to ensure grant giving is made in accordance with Standing Orders.
All members have voting rights; all must name any potential conflicts of interest; and decisions of this sub-committee can be processed immediately. However, the sub-committee’s Chair will make a brief report at each Global Relationships Committee about grants dispersed.
About You
We are looking for an experienced, committed person who has transferable skills, this individual will:
- Have previous experience served as a Trustee or Committee member.
- Have some previous experience working in another country or in relationship with organisations in other countries.
- Have an awareness of the variety of contexts that exist within the Methodist Church in Great Britain’s Global Partners.
- Be a member in good standing of the Methodist Church in Britain
- Be able to exercises sound judgement in decision making.

Springboard Youth Academy supports refugee and asylum-seeking young people who have recently arrived in the UK to help them succeed in the classroom and beyond. By combining participatory learning, life skills and holistic support into action-packed weekend, half-term and summer programming, we work to bridge the gap in support for young people left behind by the mainstream school system.

Time commitment
In line with all charities, Trustees are unpaid volunteers. Trustees must be able to commit to attending quarterly Board meetings and making time to read paperwork in advance of Board meetings. As a small charity, our resources are limited and Trustees are also asked to actively contribute their skills in relevant areas. As a guideline, Trustees must be prepared to offer a minimum of two hours per month to the charity. As Chair, you will be required to support with annual reporting to the charity commission, plan the agenda for board meetings and provide intermittent support to the Director. We will also require new Trustees to spend one day on site during one of our programmes to get a feel for the work, as well as undertake Trustee and Safeguarding training, within the first three months of starting the role. Board meetings are currently held virtually, and, where possible, are arranged at least two months ahead. On occasion, Trustees will be required to respond on email or phone in relation to issues that arise outside of Board meetings. Travel costs will be covered if they are a barrier.

- Good knowledge of the giving cycle and donor cultivation strategies
- Excellent interpersonal, networking and time management skills and the ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Strategic thinking with the ability to coordinate with departments, organize and prioritize workload and adhere to deadlines
- Ability to actively take initiative and help set things up in a start-up environment

Ethiopiaid is a small international fundraising charity based in Bath, UK. It is one of four Ethiopiaid’s that shares a global strategy, vision, and mission. The other Ethiopiaid’s are in Ireland, Canada, and Australia. Each is a registered non-profit and operates with separate trustee boards.

We are seeking a new Finance Lead Trustee to provide scrutiny and oversight of the work of Ethiopiaid, and support the CEO and Senior Finance Manager in achieving the charity’s financial targets, as well as providing Board oversight of the annual audited accounts process.
As our Finance Lead Trustee, you will:
· Review our accounts
· Ensure relevant financial policies are in place as required by the charity commission
· Have an excellent ability to interpret financial information and the confidence to raise questions and challenge
· Have oversight of the charity’s expenditure and return on investment

Hope Nottingham is a Christian Charity who welcomes those of any or no faith. Our vision is to inspire and grow communities of hope where poverty of resources, relationships and spirit are met through local people volunteering.
We began as a small drop in café with a dozen volunteers in 2010 and have now grown to encompass 14 foodbanks supporting communities across the Nottingham area, with main hubs in Beeston and Carlton, seeking to offer holistic and life-changing support for hundreds of people. This includes community cafes, meals, friendship and art groups, job clubs, ESOL and literacy groups, foodclubs, faith based activities and an allotment. We currently have 370 registered volunteers who in the last reporting year gave almost 30,000 hours of their time and skills. We hold the East and West Nottingham Trussell Franchise, issuing c10,000 food parcels a year and partner with various churches and organisations including Citizens Advice Bureau.
We are already blessed with an already strong Board of Trustees with experience across general charity leadership, HR, and project management. Our current Treasurer steps down shortly and we wish to recruit a new Treasurer with suitable qualifications and/or financial experience. This role will be supported by our Chair and existing Assistant Treasurer, as well as working closely with our CEO.
Key responsibilities of our Treasurer are :
- Providing financial oversight and governance, ensuring our financial policies and procedures safeguard and build on our financial resources
- Overseeing our annual budgeting, forecasting and regular reporting Helping communicate our financial position and financial duties and responsibilities to the Board to assist with decision making
- Supporting our fundraising including helping identify income streams
- Supporting our Independent Annual audit and signing off our accounts
You should ideally hold a financial qualification and/or have experience in a Treasurer or Senior financial role. The role will require an Enhanced DBS check (arranged by us), references and usual trustee eligibility checks. Terms are for 3 years to a maximum of 3 terms.

Overview
In partnership with a second, and possibly third Leader, you will lead a Fire (Group) of 8-12 Young Explorers. The Knowledge Leader should combine science and creative activities to help Young Explorers better understand the unique wilderness they explore, and develop curiosity for the future. To achieve this, it is the responsibility of the Senior Knowledge Leader, Knowledge Leaders and the collaboration of all leaders to design and deliver a programme of inspirational, educational projects.
We are looking for applicants who are:
- Able and passionate about leading, inspiring, and facilitating sessions with young people.
- Comfortable spending extended periods in remote and sometimes harsh environments.
- Able to commit to all pre-expedition training events.
As a charity, all Leader positions are undertaken on a voluntary basis and Leaders join for the intrinsic value of adventure, education, and personal development of young people. You do not have to fundraise to lead on our expeditions.

Our recruitment support volunteers usually spend 2 to 3 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Volunteer Role Description
Light Touch Volunteer

Time commitment: Minimum 3 hour’s a week

About the service
North East Wales Mind is a progressive mental health organisation that supports people experiencing mental health difficulties to flourish. The aim of our work is to help people build on their strengths, overcome obstacles, and become more in control of their lives. We have faith and optimism in our clients and so the services we deliver are built around their needs. We support the people of Flintshire and Wrexham to discover their own resources to ‘recover’ from periods of poor mental health, and to live life independently with their mental health condition.
Purpose of role:
To provide phone support to service users from home/ office. This role is flexible (you can make calls anytime between 5-7pm and requires you to call a client for up to half an hour a week for a period of up to 3 months.
Must have access to the internet and a phone that can switch to private setting or NEWMIND can provide them with a phone, or use of office equipment.
Main tasks:
· Providing emotional support via phone
· Assessing surrounding support
· Advising them with available provisions and services locally
· Providing practical support such as learning activities, wellbeing practises and links available to service user from home
· Writing records of dates and times and phone discussions
· Reporting back to the Volunteer Coordinator via email and phone for any extra available support
· Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to a member of staff.
What we are looking for:
· Confident and effective communication
· Understanding of professional boundaries
· Caring nature
· Knowledge of local services is desired.
· Lived experience of mental health difficulty desirable
· Understanding of, or experience of caring for someone with mental health difficulty, can be helpful but is not essential.
· Good listening skills, non-judgemental attitude, and empathy
· Ability to motivate.
· Ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations in a calm manner.
· Commitment for a minimum of 6 months
· Volunteers must be aged 18 and over.

· All volunteers will receive training in mental health awareness, confidentiality, boundaries, risk management, plus on-going training relevant to the role.
