About the Opportunity

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented individual to assist with the administrative process of submitting supporting documents for former employees of our organization (RI) applying for asylum through the US government’s US Refugee Admissions Program. This role involves gathering, organizing, and submitting essential documentation to confirm eligibility for the program, liaising with various internal teams, and providing empathetic support to applicants throughout the process. The work can be emotionally taxing, as applicants often face life-threatening situations, and requires a deep commitment to the cause and the ability to maintain emotional resilience while handling sensitive communications.

This role receives and tracks applications from current and past RI staff in Afghanistan and Iraq, and supports applicants with completing the necessary forms and collecting supporting documents from Relief International colleagues. This could include employment records, grant documents and identity documents.

Once application packs are complete, this role ensure the application is submitted and responds to questions and requests for additional documentation from the US Department of State. The post holder will also respond to queries from applicants themselves.

The role is not required to advise on eligibility and cannot influence the process beyond ensuring all documents are obtained and submitted in good time.

About You

No specific qualifications or previous experience is required for this role – full training will be provided and support and advice available at all times.

As a Content Writing Volunteer, you’ll play a crucial role in enhancing the Legasee Archive by creating engaging and informative descriptions of veterans. Your work will make the archive more searchable, user-friendly, and valuable as an educational resource.

ANIMAL WELFARE CO-ORDINATOR

RSPCA Middlesborough, Teesside & District Branch

Are you passionate about helping animals in your community?  Would you like to do something meaningful with your free time?  The RSPCA needs people like you so that we can improve animal welfare in Middlesbrough and Teesside.

We are looking for volunteers to run our animal welfare programs.  These may include offering discounted Neutering, managing colonies of feral cats, or guiding people on how to adopt a dog.  You will have direct contact with the public, work closely with local vets and liaise with the RSPCA Inspectors.  You will be dealing with all the enquiries we receive via email and deciding how we should respond.  In some cases it will be walking the person through the steps of our current programs, in other cases it will be working out how to respond to an unusual request - no two days will be the same.

This is a co-ordinating role which can be done remotely with a computer and a phone.  If you live locally, you may also want to meet vets or other partners face to face to better understand their operations and build partnerships.  You will be the beating heart of our contribution to animal welfare in your community.  You won’t be on your own. You’ll be joining a team of motivated people who use their skills and love of animals to do something meaningful and have fun at the same time. 

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

You’ll monitor our public email account and respond to all enquiries.  You will co-ordinate with the public and local vets to execute our current animal welfare programs such as neutering and microchipping.  This involves checking to see if an applicant meets the program criteria, finding a local vet who can help, and arranging vouchers to pay for the services.  When enquiries are beyond the scope of our current programs you will guide people on where to go for help, or ask RSPCA Inspectors for their guidance (training will be provided) and keep records of the enquiries and your response.  This role can be done remotely and is completely flexible based on how much time you have and when you are available.

Age UK Notts are seeking individuals who would like to be considered as a volunteer for our Companion Service.

Volunteers will be supporting people remotely, in their own homes and in the community within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and ideally, we ask all applicants to provide a minimum of 1 hour volunteering a week.

The companion service volunteer can choose to be:

• A companion telephone/video caller                                                               

• A companion within the person’s home

• A companion outside the person’s home

• Or a combination of all three.

Examples of the type of support the service offers include:

• Telephone / video calls for an older person/s on a regular basis at a mutually agreed time for a friendly chat. 

• Supporting an older person/s hobbies and interests or simply chatting with them in their own home on a regular basis.

• Supporting with digital access & building confidence skills & motivation to access the opportunities of the internet.

• Supporting the person outside of their home e.g., by accompanying them on a walk, to the shops, to a café, garden centre, theatre or cinema or other social activities / community groups. 

• Where appropriate, supporting the older person to access other services through information and signposting or referring to the Companion Service Coordinator for support.

We are looking for the following skills/interests:

• Individuals with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people who are committed to volunteering on a regular basis.

• Commitment to complete our Volunteer Report Form accurately and regularly. 

• Ability to travel for visits in the local community either by car or public transport for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

• Digital literacy for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

Here at Youth4Youth, we have grown a strong, tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. Our growing team of volunteers all contribute, significantly, to the impact that we have as a charity on our direct beneficiaries, regardless of the department that they work in of the level of time that they are able to commit. Our services primarily offer a peer-support network to young people right across the UK, allowing them to access a peer mentor who is of a similar age to them and somebody that they feel more comfortable speaking with.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly scaling Charity, supporting the delivery of all critical leadership activities. Working directly with the CEO, the EA to the CEO will provide crucial support to enable the CEO to deliver their core activities in driving the Charity forward. This role will involve core, regular tasks, as well as opportunities to get involved in a variety of projects and initiatives where possible. 

Responsibilities 

• Provide regular administrative support to the CEO of the Charity, including calendar management, filing, scheduling, internal engagement and other activities as required.
• Provide support to the broader network of Administrative staff and the Executive Leadership Team as required.
• Maintain financial records of the Charity by ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded into financial systems with the appropriate approvals and evidence in place.
• Distribute monthly financial reports to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Trustees that are produced from financial systems.
• Collect and collate key data across all areas of the Charity to populate leadership KPI scorecards and distribute monthly KPI reports to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.

Skills 

• Technically capable, with experience in using Microsoft Platforms and Xero (specific system experience desired but not required as training can be provided)
• Ability to be self-motivated and organised, as well as an ability to organise and support others
• Positive, can-do attitude to get involved with any activities required to support the CEO and the broader Charity
• Ability to learn quickly, and be adaptable to change as the Charity scales
• Ability to lead, coach and mentor others, especially other administrative staff within the Charity.

Finance Controller or Finance Assistant. Finance tasks supporting our growing charity, working with our external Book Keeper, outsourced payroll service, and the Board Treasurer. Tasks include producing monthly reports and stats for the Board, for funders and fundraising bids. Monthly financial reporting including monitoring of income and expenditure, variance analysis and cashflow forecasting, monthly management accounts, and annual financial statements - charity income and expenditure, balance sheet, P&L. Supporting annual budget setting, and assisting when data is required for grant submissions. You will ideally be, or have been, a chartered, AAT, or qualified-by-experience accountant, have Third Sector knowledge, and have an interest and passion  for charitable enterprises.

Communications and Media Coordinator or Assistant. We are looking for help to communicate much much better with counselling clients, funders, our own “Counselling Community” of therapists, and the wider voluntary sector across our large area. You’ll be writing news stories, success ‘profiles’, publicising regular and special events, and driving social media and the web  - building the brand for Evolve. This job will be great  for a pro-active social media “story teller”, looking to build their own profile by ‘owning’ this new area of Evolve’s work. You’ll need to be creative, organised, and literate, with a very self-motivated  approach. A background in PR, marketing, social media or news will be great for this role.
 

Marketing and Fundraising Specialist or Assistant. Help us to grow our client numbers, improve the service, generate a development fund for new innovations, and get our name in front of sponsors, donors, and other charity project funders. Evolve Counselling is a long-established charitable social enterprise, providing low cost, affordable or funded mental health counselling to adults in Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties. You’ll be responsible for creating and coordinating an annual calendar of events and making sure they’re run safely and effectively to make the most impact. You’ll take a lead role at events on the day and inspire your fellow volunteers to get involved.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication, administration and negotiation skills. 

Time commitment

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.

You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.

You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the local area the group to carry out this role.

Orchards is at an exciting point of growth as we expand into new hubs with our support and housing provision. We are looking for new Trustees to strengthen the Board and help position us for sustainable growth in the coming years. We are particularly looking for Trustees with experience in the following areas:

- Safeguarding – a qualified social worker or safeguarding professional with experience of adult safeguarding. This Trustee will work alongside the Safeguarding Lead to ensure best practice and ongoing monitoring of safeguarding strategy within the organisation.

- Church leader or church network leader – an experienced church leader able to work across denominations. This Trustee will help us to develop our church partnerships and to bring local church perspective into the strategy and growth of the charity.

- Housing – an experienced housing professional with knowledge of social and Local Authority housing. This Trustee will help us work strategically with Local Authorities as we expand our housing provision and seek creative ways to provide move-on housing options for women.

Orchards Trustees serve the board with a passion to see women free from sexual exploitation, bringing their relevant career experience and skills and prayerfulness.

Why we want you:

We are the RSPCA and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers are incredible, they play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work every day.

Our fosterers play a vital role by providing a temporary home for animals that are in the care of the RSPCA, either during rehabilitation or whilst they are waiting for a suitable permanent home to be found.

You could be fostering an animal for just a few weeks, or it could be a longer-term placement for several months or more.

What you will be doing:

• Providing care and suitable housing in a safe environment for cats while they are in foster care in accordance with Society policies and guidelines
• Feeding, watering, providing enrichment and grooming cats (as appropriate)
• Keeping accurate records of expenditure on fostered animals, via receipts and completed expense forms
• Completing records/daily observations in relation to behaviour and health and liaising with your Foster Coordinator when needed
• For cats ready for rehoming: raising awareness about animals in your care with the hope of rehoming them (including sharing images and videos with your local contact/team)
• For cats' subject to an RSPCA case: using discretion (where needed) if the animal has specific needs or reasons for being in your care
• Offering a separate room to keep the cat/s in and your family/household must be fully supportive (and checked/confirmed that there are no cat allergies within the household)
• Transporting your foster cat for appointments, vet consultations, etc

The skills you need:

• Volunteers must be aged 18 or over
• Previous experience of fostering would be beneficial, and experience caring for cats is essential
• If you have existing cats, it is preferred that they be spayed/neutered and vaccinated (unless there are medical reasons why they can't be), but this can be discussed on a case by case basis
• If in rented accommodation, permission from the landlord must be obtained

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and introductory period. Before you can start volunteering you’ll need to complete our suite of eLearn training including a simple online Health & Safety assessment.

Some cats simply don’t respond well to cattery life becoming stressed that affects their health and wellbeing, whereas they thrive in a quiet loving foster home. Kittens, with and without their mums, often need foster homes, until they are weaned and old enough for permanent adoption. Some cats looking for foster homes are subjects of an ongoing criminal investigation, so are in our care whilst the case progresses. With these cats we will not know how long the case will take to resolve and, occasionally, animals may have to be returned to their owner, in accordance with a court ruling.

As a cat fosterer you will play a vital role in looking after the cats in our care until their case is resolved or they find a new home. You'll be providing all the daily care for cats/kittens in your own home, ensuring a safe environment that will cater for their individual (sometimes complex) needs. RSPCA staff will match cats/kittens with foster homes, and will give you all the information and support that you need for each fostered animal. The time commitment for each foster placement can vary from a couple of weeks to many months, with support provided to accommodate holidays and emergencies.

This is a great opportunity to make a real difference to the welfare of cats and kittens in our care.

What is required:

• Be able to transport the cat/kittens to vet appointments and the RSPCA establishment as required.
• Have time to spend with them or be around them.
• A spare room/space at home for fostering a cat is ideal, although not essential (they will not be allowed outside of your home environment, so will need a specific space)
• Have lots of love, time and patience to give the animal whilst they are with you.

If your application is successful, you'll be asked to record and upload a short video, or take some photos of your home environment to accompany your volunteer profile. A home visit may also be required prior to and/or during your time fostering. You’ll get online access to all the necessary training for your role, and we ask you to keep this up to date. You will also receive training from the RSPCA establishment that your foster animal is from, and they will provide you with a point of contact and ongoing support, training and advice. We have a suite of wellbeing resources available and can make reasonable role adjustments to support you in your volunteering.
