Summary of the role:
The Head of Communications is responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation’s communication strategy to establish Muslim Aid as a leading faith-based voice and thought leader in international development, humanitarian programming and positive systemic change. This role involves managing all aspects of internal and external communications, including media relations, digital content, and brand management. The Head of Communications will work closely with the Director of Strategy and Communications to ensure that communication efforts are aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals and effectively engage stakeholders.
About the Role:
Develop and implement a comprehensive global communication strategy that enhances the organisation’s public image, engages key stakeholders, and supports the achievement of strategic goals. Ensure that the strategy is flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
Lead the development and monitoring of annual communication plans that outline key initiatives, campaigns, and activities. Ensure that these plans are aligned with the organisation’s strategic priorities, reflect cross-departmental needs and include clear objectives, timelines, and performance metrics.
Provide editorial oversight for all content produced by the communications team, digital or otherwise: including social media posts, website content, newsletters, press releases, and other written materials. Ensure that all content adheres to the organisation’s messaging guidelines and brand standards.
Act as the overall guardian of the Muslim Aid brand and put in place processes and support to ensure it is represented at its best in all external communications.
Ensure that the organisation’s brand reflects and aligns with organisational identity and is consistently applied across all communication channels. Lead efforts to refresh and strengthen the brand as needed to reflect the organisation’s evolving direction.
Steer strategic engagement with the media to ensure accurate reporting on Muslim Aid’s activities, priorities, principles, and approach, as well as to platform Muslim Aid’s strategic direction and goals, and advance the organisation’s thought leadership.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience in a communications role, preferably within an INGO or similar organisation.
- Proven experience in developing and executing successful communication strategies, managing media relations, and overseeing digital communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to create compelling content for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.

As a charity, we advocate for the key role of statistics and data in society and work to ensure that policy formulation and decision-making are informed by evidence for the public good. Members work with RSS staff to support areas such as policy development, education, training, statistical communication, and statistical literacy.
The Director of Professional Services is responsible for our professional affairs activities, overseeing the creation, maintenance and application of relevant standards through our professional affairs committee, and certification and accreditation schemes. They are also responsible for member recruitment and management, ensuring we continue to attract new RSS members and partners, and that their needs are met. They also oversee a range of activities that engage RSS members (including groups that bring members together on a topic or geographical basis, RSS honours and awards, and our volunteering opportunities), securing both our impact on society and member retention.
Informed by an in-depth understanding of the needs of members and prospective members, the Director manages these activities strategically across the organisation, bringing relevant staff together within small teams working on defined goals that support our objectives, foster a sense of value and community for all members and ultimately lead to the growth in membership and impact of the Society.
Pension and benefits: Our defined contribution pension scheme can be joined after three months in post. Your contributions of up to 8% of salary will be double matched by the Society (making a maximum contribution by the Society of 16%). Location: The RSS office is in central London and currently open twice a week. We offer flexible working arrangements and office attendance is encouraged but not mandatory depending on the role. About the Role
Over the past 7 years, UnLtd have developed and built an investment offer for social purpose organisations. This has included the development and full deployment of two investment funds - UnLtd Impact Fund, and the Thrive Fund. We launched our third investment fund in partnership with Big Issue Invest in December 2022. The Growth Impact Fund is currently a £10m fund focussed on providing capital for diverse-led social purpose organisations.
Reporting into the Director of Delivery & Investment, this person would be responsible and accountable for our investment work across UnLtd. The Role
We now seek a Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Research Manager to deliver a step change in organisational capacity in the MELR space, develop our approaches to data collection, and coordinate planning and reporting processes. This will require an experienced, self starting practitioner, capable of developing a long term strategic vision as well as getting deeply involved in ensuring its realisation.

Our central team supports and attracts funding for a portfolio of international and UK based programmes which align with our 3 strategic priorities identified by members: ending violence, poverty and injustice. Key programmatic areas in which we work include livelihoods, literacy, Gender Based Violence and parenting. Working with our members we have developed participatory approaches in core areas such as literacy and savings and credit groups which are inclusive of bible studies and stories to help people to discover their own capabilities and to inspire them to take action.
Over the last year, we have been working towards developing processes to ensure that we have a consistent baseline of core information about partners and programmes as well as continuing to gather stories and information about projects and work that our members are leading on which we are not directly involved in.

Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern
This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays. In addition, Thursday is a core working day where part time staff are expected to work, either at home or from the office as needed.

About this role
We are pleased to advertise for a Head of Death Penalty Projects- US to oversee our work against the death penalty in the United States of America.
Reprieve has worked against the death penalty since our founding. In recent years we have built a particular specialism in issues relating to lethal injection, the most popular execution method in the US. Lethal injection has been touted as more humane than other methods – a modern, clean, clinical way to execute. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Lethal injection executions go wrong more often than any other execution method, often resulting in prolonged and torturous executions, commonly known as “botched” executions. Through our work we aim to dispel the myth of the humane execution, working with allies across medicine, business and other sectors to end the misuse of medicines and medical technology in executions.
The existing portfolio of work includes litigation, investigation and analysis, corporate engagement, a wide range of public and private advocacy, and developing and maintaining world-leading expertise on execution methods, particularly the jurisprudence and science relevant to lethal injection.
Contract, location and salary
The role is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £59,226 per annum less any required deductions for tax and national insurance.Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work a minimum of 40% from the London office and the rest of the week from home. There is the opportunity for international travel in the role.

Research, Advisory and Policy Department (RAP)
The Research, Advisory and Policy Department (RAP) of 9 staff facilitates learning and provides guidance to improve peace policy and practice inside and outside CR.
RAP is responsible for the Accord publication series and cross-organisational research programmes, thematic policy advocacy, and the organisational approach to, and technical support to Programme Departments and the research team on gender and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) and policy advocacy. The RAP Department includes the CR EU team based in Brussels.
Job Purpose
The Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning leads on developing and implementing Conciliation Resources’ strategy, systems and skills for MEL in our peace practice. They ensure that MEL in CR serves to: evaluate the impact of our interventions; improve adaptability and effectiveness of our practice, including the objectives in our Gender Strategy; record, organise and learn from evidence of what works and what doesn’t; improve our knowledge base, culture and practice of capturing and measuring change; and inform CR and the wider peacebuilding sector about how to measure progress in peace initiatives.
The Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning acts as the technical lead on MEL, providing thought leadership, strategic guidance and technical advice to Programme and RAP teams on MEL; on learning goals in our Strategic Plan; on measuring progress towards our peacebuilding goals, our Theory of Change and our Results Framework; and on how to use MEL data for different strategic processes.
Scope and Accountability
The Head of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning is accountable to and line-managed by the
Director of Research, Advisory and Policy, and is a member of the Research, Advisory and Policy team. They work closely with CR Programme Departments and partners, Communications and Development teams, and the Executive Management Team. They are a member of the Team Leaders Forum.
Essential Knowledge, skills and experience
- Thorough knowledge of complexity aware approaches and methodologies for MEL at strategic, organisational and project level, including Outcome Harvesting.
- Experience in leading the design and implementation of MEL systems at organisation level.
- Experience of integrating gender into MEL frameworks and approaches.
- Experience of applying different MEL frameworks and techniques, such as logical frameworks, Outcome Harvesting, theories of change and participatory techniques to programme design.
- Experience in delivering MEL training and capacity building support online and in person.
- Experience of staff line management and the procurement and management of consultants.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, and to work collaboratively with a flexible approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and the ability to communicate complex information and arguments clearly and accurately.
- Strong facilitation skills, including in online format.
- Excellent evaluative and creative thinking skills. Ability to handle a complex and changing workload meeting internal and external deadlines.
- Capacity to listen actively to people from varying backgrounds having a range of political, cultural, and value orientations.
