MAIN PURPOSES OF THE JOB
The Stella Maris (SM) Regional Port Chaplain will promote the vision, mission and values of SM in caring for all seafarers and fishers by helping to meet their pastoral and spiritual needs. They will recruit, train and support SM staff and volunteers for the port and will maintain good relations with local parishes and the local diocese. They will work ecumenically with members of other Christian maritime societies with whom SM works.
1. To meet the welfare and pastoral needs of all seafarers and fishers equally according to their needs and wishes. To be an advocate on their behalf, upholding the dignity of each. Through regular and frequent ship visiting, to understand the working and living conditions of the seafarer and fishers and be able to work for justice and for the well-being of all crew members without distinction.
2. To address the communication needs of seafarers, providing transport, news, and access to telephone and internet facilities.
3. To address the welfare needs of seafarers and fishers, including support with money transfers, hospitality, and crisis support, e.g. abandonment, injury and death, detainment, bereavement, advice and access to medical care.
4. To meet the ecclesial, spiritual, and sacramental needs of Catholic seafarers and fishers; to facilitate the religious and spiritual needs of others and to be a pastor to all, sharing one’s faith as appropriate.
5. To participate in SM conferences, ongoing formation and other professional courses as required.
6. To supporting seafarer centre functioning.
7. To recruit, train, develop and retain a SM ship visiting volunteering team.
8. To represent SM on the local Port Welfare Committee(s), to include attending such meetings and submitting reports.
9. To liaise and maintain good working relationships with all port stakeholders, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the International Transport Workers’ Federation, port health, harbour masters, dockers, security, and shipping agents.
10. To work in an ecumenical and multi-faith context by respecting the differing religious and spiritual needs of seafarers drawn from diverse regions throughout the world.
11. To encourage and support the development of an ecumenical service to seafarers through engagement with our ecumenical colleagues, including the Mission to Seafarers, The Fishermen’s Mission, The Sailors’ Society (to name a few).
12. To engage with local maritime colleges.
13. To engage with the local press, in particular the local Catholic diocesan press.
14. To represent and be a proactive advocate for SM at Deanery meetings, in local parishes, in schools, with diocesan Justice and Peace networks, with migrant communities, in the local Catholic community and in the local community as a whole.
15. To support the Fundraising and Communications team with the development of local fundraising initiatives.
16. To promote SM internally and externally so as to ensure a highly motivated workforce and a positive external image.

Stella Maris UK is a well-known and respected charity within the maritime industry We are the largest ship visiting network in the world. As a Regional Port Chaplain, you will be responsible for being the face of the charity when visiting ships, seafarers, fishers and their families. You will also be representing the charity at meetings, conferences, events and any other required functions. You will need to be effective, efficient, well organised, confident and comfortable in working with all other stakeholders, organisations and charities whilst undertaking various tasks in and out of the port environment.
The role will also require interactions and communication with various staff members at head office, the Senior Area Port Chaplain and other members of the team, as well as communicating and building relationships with local Catholic parishes. You may also be asked to attend various meetings or gatherings where you would be asked to give a presentation on the work of Stella Maris.
It will be vitally important to be flexible whilst working within this role and environment using as much effective time management as possible, but remaining creative and using initiative, when necessary, in certain situations and circumstances.
The role of chaplain can often be a lonely and sometimes isolated role that may require some out of hours working. Things do not always go according to plan and sometimes you may not be welcomed onboard. The role can be challenging mentally, emotionally and sometimes physically (long, steep gangways to board ships). You will be part of a team that has chaplains spread out through the South of England and Wales, as well as being part of a larger team of chaplains in the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Chaplains in the South of England and Wales gather together for a retreat and social time once a year, and the whole organisation will also meet annually for a retreat and staff conference.
Supporting seafarers is a varied, demanding, rewarding, fulfilling and vital ministry.

This is a new and exciting role, which offers the opportunity to work with a wide variety of stakeholders to develop and implement Justice Together’s influencing strategy. The post holder will also be responsible for managing a small number of influencing grants and working with the Grant Manager to ensure that the process for grant renewals runs smoothly. They will have line management responsibility for the Grant Manager and Grant Partner Community Manager.
They will form part of a small and collaborative team together with the Director of Justice Together, Grants Manager and Grants Officers, one of whom works solely on the initiative and another who is seconded part-time from The Legal Education Foundation. They will report to the Director of Justice Together, and work closely with support staff within The Legal Education Foundation.
The successful candidate will have a passion for the values of equity and justice, and will be able to demonstrate a personal style that fosters collaboration and trust. They will have experience of developing and implementing effective influencing strategies, developing and managing relationships with stakeholders and managing people and projects. They do not need previous experience of working for a funder in a grant making role.

Purpose of Role
The People Advisor role will pay a pivotal role in delivering the People Plan at the Ramblers and creating a truly great place to work.

We are looking to grow the capacity of our church leadership to support church growth, as we both develop our base within the new Osney Mead Innovation Quarter and expand our activities across the city.
We see Operations as a key ministry in the life of the church. Our existing church Admin Team covers events, communications, volunteer coordination, data handling and safeguarding administration, whilst management roles have generally been held by pastoral staff. In appointing an Operations Leader, we are seeking someone “well respected, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom” (Acts 6:3), whose managerial skill will release other leaders to focus on pastoral ministry.
The Operations Leader will work with our senior leaders to build and run systems that support church growth, and will be responsible for:
- Cultivating a culture in which volunteers thrive
- Leading on finance, governance, HR and compliance
- Use and development of our building
- Oversight of church admin team
This is a key role in our church life and requires a vibrant Christian faith and a passion for our church’s mission. It also demands strong people skills and the ability to ensure strategies and plans are executed in a timely and thorough manner.
Key relationships
Your primary team will be our church Core Team. You will work each week with Steve and Bev Jones, other pastors in the church and the Admin Team.
You will also work closely with the board of The Kings Centre Ltd, Trustees, our charity’s Operations Director and a range of volunteers in the local church.
Specific duties
Development
1. Implement systems to support and sustain excellent volunteer service
2. Osney Mead project: liaise with consultants and key stakeholders, establish project brief; project manage development of a business plan
Governance
3. Report to governance teams within the charity: producing reports on risk management, statutory and policy compliance
4. Chair the board of The King’s Centre Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of our charity)

5. Manage church finances: setting a growth budget, controlling spend, generating income, ensuring routine tasks are done effectively

Overview
To date, Global Dialogue’s finances has been overseen by an external accountancy firm. Over the last eighteen months, we have been working towards bringing our finance function in house. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to take the reins and complete the development and roll out of our internal finance function.
The Head of Finance is a new role within the organisation that is both strategic and handson. In the first phase, the postholder will be required to roll up their sleeves and, with the support of Global Dialogue’s Finance Officer, get stuck into the detail of financial administration, including overseeing twice monthly pay runs, monthly and quarterly closes, and other day-to-day financial management tasks. Alongside this, the role will lead on bringing the finance function fully in house, eventually taking on full responsibility for the preparation of management and statutory accounts, cashflow and FX management, and budgeting and forecasting processes. This role will play a key coaching role for the Finance Officer, with a view to eventually delegating all bookkeeping tasks. The postholder will also be responsible for ensuring finance systems are innovative, robust and fit for purpose, and will be a business partner to our hosted programmes, providing advice on compliance and strategic matters.
Global Dialogue’s role as an international fiscal host means that we have a complex financial model, receive income from diverse streams and manage a high number of restricted funds. Our programmes lead cutting edge work, which means that our work is varied and fastpaced, requiring frequent innovation. Having recently won a major national award for Fundraising Team of the Year at the annual Third Sector awards, East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH) is now seeking an outstanding income generation leader to help realise it’s ambitions of reaching more children, young people and families across the East Anglian region that need our care.
We’re looking for an experienced Director of Fundraising and Marketing & Communications to join the executive leadership team at EACH. This role offers flexibility to work from any of our three hospices at Milton near Cambridge, The Treehouse in Ipswich and The Nook, near Norwich, combined with hybrid working.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) provides specialist care for babies, children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk and supports their families. All three of our hospices are rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
As Director of Fundraising and Marketing & Communications you will lead the strategic planning and delivery of the Marketing and Fundraising annual plan (£7.5m) across all income streams, including major giving, community and events, corporate, trust and foundation teams. This is a critical leadership position, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team at EACH.
You’ll be leading a talented team of 30, encouraging, empowering and inspiring colleagues to innovate in ways which help us deliver our overall objectives. You’ll underpin this income generation experience with detailed forecasting and activity planning.
Are you:
Highly knowledgeable and experienced in delivering primary income streams with experience of develop income strategies to deliver year on year growth

- Significant people management skills with experience leading a team of professionals
- Thorough understanding of fundraising, including identification research, solicitation, pitching and account management.
- Knowledge of the scope and content of the Code of Fundraising Practice.
- Proven experience of working to and achieving ambitious targets.
- Proven experience of engaging major donors and stewarding high value and influential relationships that deliver significant giving.
- Experience in managing large budgets (£3m +) with strong finance acumen.

NAPAC provides the only free national support service for adult survivors of all types of childhood abuse. We offer specialist, confidential support to all adult survivors of any type of abuse, operated by experienced staff and trained volunteers.

As a support line Call Handler, you will be a key member of our dedicated team, providing emotional support and a safe environment for callers with a wide range of complex issues.
NAPAC offers full training and hands-on support for call handlers with every call they receive. You will use the knowledge and skills you’ve developed through our training to explore issues relating to childhood abuse and it how it effects adulthood and signpost callers to relevant resources and services that can provide more in-depth support. Calls are caller-led, and you will be there to empower each caller to take back control in their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow confidentiality and safeguarding policies
- Provide appropriate signposting to external services in accordance to callers identified needs.
- Ensuring that key record keeping is maintained to the required standard and contributing to service monitoring requirements
- You will have the emotional resilience to be able to support individuals who may be severely distressed, experienced trauma, and people who may be at risk of harm.
- The ability to think on your feet to support callers who may call during panic attacks or flashbacks
- Excellent communication skills, spoken and written.
- Providing email support to individuals.
- Being flexible in your approach to your work in line with changing and growing needs of the support service.
- To be Caller led and be able to keep your own personal boundaries whilst working in your own unique way.
Salary: £26,520 per annum, pro rata, plus pension and an employee benefits package.
Hours: 17.5 per week (0.5 FTE) to be worked flexibly across the week, in person. Remote and hybrid working is not available for this role.
Contract: One year, with possibility of extension subject to funding.
