We are the Elisabeth Curtis Centre, a purpose built Riding for the Disabled centre on the outskirts of Bedford in the village of Bromham. We’re an independent charity and a member of the national Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA UK), supporting over 80 participants with the support of over 100 volunteers in the last year.
We provide our participants the therapy, fitness, skills development and the opportunity to achieve through the use of our fabulous herd of 9 horses and ponies. - a lay trustee who can hold responsibility for oversight of safeguarding in the organisation. The trustee will work closely with our Head of Safeguarding and our Child Safeguarding lead and will provide the board with assurance and feedback about our safeguarding policies and compliance. The bpf needs to provide safeguarding for our staff, our professional members, our trainees and our patients.

Introduction
This is an exciting opportunity to be a hands-on trustee at branch level, helping to promote kindness and prevent animal cruelty, reach out to more supporters, and influence how we do things. With your support and expertise, we will achieve so much!
Overview of the Branch Trustee opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person who could devote the time to volunteer with us as one of our Trustees. As a Trustee of the Branch, you will have the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives. You will serve on the governing body of the charity and be instrumental in the running of the Branch and setting out both the short and long terms aims.
As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether the trustee takes on additional duties.

Founded in 1824 we have been saving animals for almost 200 years and are proud to be the oldest welfare charity around. The RSPCA OXFORDSHIRE Branch
The Oxfordshire Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in the Oxfordshire area. The Oxfordshire Branch has been looking after animal since 1875. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.
The main activity of our branch is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals the Inspectors have rescued from cruelty and neglect. We take in cats, dogs and rabbits, we provide them with veterinary treatment, neuter, vaccinate and microchip them before homing them to lovely new homes. We have a cattery where we rent four pens, a small rabbit centre in Harwell and a team of fosters, adoption support volunteers as well as our Trustees.
We also help members of the public in the Oxfordshire area with financial assistance with their pets. We help towards neutering, microchipping as well as the unexpected veterinary bills.
Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee
- Appreciate and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA.
- Work in conjunction with fellow trustees and branch officers and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and the RSPCA.
- Work in conjunction with our paid Operations Manager to run the branch.
- Work with national RSPCA staff to ensure that the branch meets all minimum animal welfare standards (MAWS).
- In conjunction with your fellow trustees and Branch Partnership Manager write, adopt, monitor, and review a development plan setting out the short and long term aims of your branch.
- Actively participate in branch committee meetings and to attend the branch annual general meeting and regional conference.
- Be aware of the outcome of regional board meetings and support local initiatives.
- Actively promote and advertise the society in an ongoing programme to recruit new branch trustees and volunteers and welcome new members.
- In conjunction with your fellow trustees, ensure the proper management and control of all activities and decisions relating to any premises held or staff employed by the branch if applicable.
What we are looking for in a volunteer:
- We are looking for people from all social and cultural backgrounds, with experience and skills in any of the following areas:
- Fundraising including corporate fundraising, trust fund and grant applications.
- Events management, organising fun, fundraising events.
- Financial, accounts, invoicing, wages etc.
- Local community and supporter relationships, school talks etc.
- Shop management.
- Hands-on experience in growing charities; and/or
- Are or have been part of the groups and communities we would like to attract.
Alongside the relevant experience, we are looking for someone who is committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objectives and shares our passion for animal welfare. You would be creative, innovative, bring a fresh perspective, and can put ideas into action.

- We will provide you with a comprehensive trustee training course which will provide you with everything you need to carry out the role.
- Ongoing support is also provided by local and national RSPCA staff in addition to any additional training provided by the relevant branch.

Practical considerations

We are looking for an individual with a strong scientific or medical background who has considerable research experience to join our Board of Trustees. As a member of the Board’s science sub-committee, you will support the CEO and the Head of Science and Health Education in supporting the growth and evolution of our scientific programme and in strengthening our scientific authority.
ABOUT US
Breast Cancer UK's mission is to prevent breast cancer through scientific understanding, education, collaboration, and policy change.
We are the only UK breast cancer charity focused entirely on the primary prevention of breast cancer through education, research and campaigning. Today 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in their lives but at least 30% breast cancers are thought to be preventable.

We fund scientific research that will help to understand and address the preventable risk factors for breast cancer.

We educate and raise awareness of the preventable risk factors for breast cancer and provide practical information to help people reduce their risk.

We campaign for policy changes that promote the prevention of breast cancer and promote breast cancer prevention communication between scientists, consumers and industry.
Our research focuses on environmental and chemical causes of breast cancer but our education and advice includes all preventable risk factors.
THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Board and support the CEO and wider staff team to deliver our vision and strategy.
As well as a scientific research or medical background, you will have outstanding communication skills and be able to support, challenge and scrutinise the charity’s science and education programme, as well as constructively contribute fully to wider issues considered by the Board. While you may not have personal or family experience of breast cancer, you will need to have a passion for what we do.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Breast Cancer UK’s Board of Trustees wishes to recruit candidates from diverse backgrounds to join the Board of Trustees. Trustees are particularly keen to recruit candidates from the public, private, or third/ voluntary sectors with leadership experience and expertise in the following areas:

You must be over 18 and have excellent communication skills.

OTHER INFORMATION
Time Commitment
Critically, you must be willing and able to devote the necessary time and effort to a trusteeship. This includes preparing for and attending all Breast Cancer UK Trustee Board Meetings and Science and Health Education Committee Meetings.
Trustees meet quarterly in London, usually in the evening (meetings are usually between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.). You will also be expected to sit on the Science and Health Education Committee. All Committees take place via video call (Microsoft Teams), usually for two hours per quarter in the evenings, this is organized by the Science and Health Education team.
You will also be expected to attend one annual strategy planning day and two informal meetings with Trustees in London.
In addition, you are requested to devote some time to your role as an Ambassador – by promoting the charity through their own networks and activities.
You will be expected to commit around 4-5 hours a month to the role.
Trustees are not remunerated; however reasonable travel expenses incurred whilst carrying out their duties can be claimed.

The Sussex Reptile Rescue Centre is a small, charitable organisation based in West Sussex, which has been set up to provide care, rehoming, education and treatment to ill, injured and unwanted reptiles across the county of Sussex. Main duties and responsibilities

What’s expected from KCSC Trustees?
This role is unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. The term of appointment is three years in the first instance, with six years being the normal maximum term. You can typically expect to spend from four hours up to one day per month on Trustee business with most meetings taking place in the early evening.
If you join the board then you will be expected to attend quarterly board meetings as well as other board/KCSC development meetings when required. There will also be a requirement to consider aspects of the organisation’s business as they arise outside of these meetings – usually by email or telephone. The Board’s work is supported by the Chief Executive, senior management team and staff.

- Confirmation that the trustee is not disqualified from holding a trusteeship
- People under the age of 18, unless the charity is a registered company;

- Anyone who is an undischarged bankrupt;
- Anyone who has previously been removed from trusteeship of a charity by the Court or the Commissioners;
- Anyone who is under a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1996.
- In certain cases, the Charity Commission has the power to grant a waiver and allow a person disqualified from trusteeship, under section 72 (1) of the Charities Act 1993 to accept a trustee post. What happens next?
Once we receive your application, it will be assessed based on what we are looking for as specified above and you will be notified of the outcome. If invited to interview you will meet a panel of three which includes two trustees and the CEO. If successful we will invite you to observe a board meeting in action before confirming with you whether you would like to join the board. If appointed, we will organise a tour of the office to meet the staff and agree any necessary training required.

Branch Trustee – Fundraising

Overview of the opportunity
As Branch Trustee Fundraising Coordinator, you will act as the central contact point for all branch fundraising activities and maintain momentum for the fundraising programme of your branch. You will have fun meeting new people, helping to recruit new volunteers and organising, and attending local events.
As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether the trustee takes on additional duties.

The RSPCA Bridlington, Driffield & District Branch
The RSPCA Bridlington, Driffield & District Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.
Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee Fundraising Coordinator
- Produce a fundraising plan and budget.
- Identify fundraising roles and help recruit volunteers to fill them.
- Liaise with the Volunteer Coordinator and establish and maintain a database of fundraising supporters and volunteers.
- Identify potential sources of income to be explored.
- Organise fundraising events.
- Attend events to collect donations.
- Produce or organise the production of branch fundraising materials.
- Contact local businesses who might be interested in supporting our work.
- Produce monthly update reports for the Branch Trustees.
- Ensure all fundraising activities and events are risk assessed and carried out safely and legally, including complying with data protection regulations and gift aid procedures.
Core Branch Trustee responsibilities
- Appreciate and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA.
- Work in conjunction with fellow trustees and branch officers and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and the RSPCA.

- Implement and maintain sound financial systems to retain full control of branch funds.

- Liaise with auditors/independent examiners regarding the production of the annual branch accounts and treasurer's report for the Branch Annual General Meeting.

Winterbourne Medieval Barn is looking to recruit a Trustee with specific responsibility for overseeing the activities of the Events and Publicity Committee.
Immersed in over 600 years of history and heritage, Winterbourne Medieval Barn is based in a conservation area north of Bristol.
Major building works were completed in 2020 with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and many other generous funders and donors to revitalise the whole Barn complex into a community heritage site promoting the knowledge of medieval history, its architecture, agricultural landscape and people.
As a multi-purpose venue, we host a range of activities for the local community including family activities, music and theatre performances, craft workshops, a monthly lecture series, and our flagship annual community events the Medieval Fayre and Orchard Harvest Day.
The private hire of the Barn and its facilities are available all year round and managed separately to the Trust events by the Venue Manager. The Barn and seminar rooms can be hired for weddings, celebration events, film shoots, and meetings.
Day to day managenent of events is carried out by two part time staff covering events and volunteer management.
Specific Role
To Chair meetings of the Trust’s Events and Publicity Committee and ensure effective decisions are made and responsibilities for actions are carried out.
Specifically supporting the Community Events and Volunteer Coordinators in the planning and budgeting of Trust run events and related publicity.
To present a Trust events report to the Trustees at each ordinary quarterly Trustee Board Meeting.
