Is a registered charity serving the local community of Elmbridge for over 60 years. Our mission is to provide advice, friendship, and support to help older community in Elmbridge lead full, dignified and independent lives. We do so through delivery of 5 core services (befriending, benefits, events, signposting and CHEER’s Parkinson’s group) designed to reduce loneliness and social isolation and alleviate financial hardship.

Trustee role:

Being a trustee will provide you with insight into how charities are run and developed, as well as providing a platform to get actively involved in discussions about future projects, directly contributing to AMP’s work. This is a huge opportunity to contribute to shaping positive futures for children and young people with the least opportunity, especially those in rurally-isolated areas.
We’re proud that we reflect young people’s voices on our board. Currently only 3% of trustees in the UK are under the age of 30, yet 45% of AMP’s trustees are under 30. Young trustees who join us will gain valuable transferable skills for future employment.
What does it involve?
You will be expected to attend four meetings a year. This is a voluntary position, but you will have travel reimbursed. Trustees are involved in governance and strategic guidance but not in the delivery of operations. Their role is to ensure the charity is successfully delivering its aims and objectives. AMP will support all new trustees through a process of induction, training and mentoring. You do not need to be based in North Yorkshire, and many of our meetings take place online. You do not need any former trustee experience to commit to this role.

Overview
Our charitable trust provides grants to charitable organisations to support impactful projects benefitting communities in Westminster. We are seeking an individual with fundraising experience to join the Board of Trustees.
Key Responsibilities

When many people think of Westminster, their minds often turn to government and wealth. However, Westminster as a community also faces high levels of deprivation, with neighbourhoods ranked among the top 10% of England’s most deprived areas.
We exist to support local residents and have proudly done so for over 70 years. Since 1991, we have operated a busy and vibrant community centre, providing a range of activities for people of all ages, from after-school clubs to programmes for older people. We also run a successful community food pantry, café, and catering operation.
We are ambitious about doing even more for local people and are embarking on a period of growth after developing a new theory of change and securing investment to enhance several aspects of our building.
About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Trustee to join our Board and help drive our community mission forward. As we expand our services and strengthen our financial foundation, your strategic vision will be instrumental in helping us navigate growth opportunities and ensure our long-term sustainability. Hence, we are looking for a Trustee with a business mindset. We are not looking for pro bono legal advice. We are looking for someone who can utilise their legal mind alongside their enterprise-focused and business-oriented experience. We are also interested in whether our new Trustee has any HR expertise.
You’ll join a passionate team dedicated to empowering local residents through education, wellbeing programs, and community spaces, while bringing your professional expertise to the table. We are working in partnership with New Citizens’ Gateway, a charity that empowers refugees and asylum seekers to foster a sense of belonging, integrate into the UK and rebuild their lives. They provide support for refugees and asylum seekers across London and beyond through a holistic model and multifaceted approach, which acknowledges the whole person and all their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs. Their services including advice and guidance, campaigning, ESOL classes, community classes and groups, counselling, wellbeing services, youth activities and mentoring.
New Citizens’ Gateway (NCG) are actively developing their Board and are now seeking new Trustees, bringing fresh skills and professional backgrounds to help continue their growth. The new trustees will join a collaborative and ambitious team and will be responsible for providing strategic support related to their area of expertise and support overall governance and leadership of the organisation.
NCG wants its Board to reflect the people it serves, so they actively encourage candidates to apply with lived experience of the refugee and/or forced migration journey to rebuilding your life in the U.K.
Key skills and experience are sought, although not limited to, the following areas:
- Finance / wealth management
- Fundraising
- Marketing and communications
- Youth work
- NGO leadership
However, the Board is open to expressions of interest from candidates who do not possess skills in these areas, but that would like to be considered as a Board member.
Board meetings are held four times a year (hybrid) in addition to attending occasional networking, fundraising and ceremonial events and meetings. All reasonable expenses will be covered by the charity. We anticipate a 1-2-hour monthly time commitment.

Trustee with Fundraising Experience
About NWR
NWR (National Women’s Register) is a membership charity aiming to stop social isolation in women. It was founded in 1960 by Maureen Nicol in response to a letter in the Guardian bemoaning how women became isolated when they gave up their careers to raise their children. Maureen set up NWR as an alternative to WI, with the aim of meetings focusing on non-domestic, stimulating topics. 60 years later NWR is still connecting women, albeit an older generation of +55 years, with 315 local groups and a thriving online community.
Trustee Role
Our current Board of Trustees are all members of NWR, and we are seeking a voluntary, external Trustee to bring a different dimension to the Board.
We are looking for someone experienced in working in the charity sector, in particular a membership organisation, and who is committed to our objectives. In addition, our ideal Trustee is someone with successful skills and experience of working in a fundraising role, who could advise us on accessing and applying for grants.
The board holds quarterly Trustee meetings that last approx. 3-4 hours. These are usually on Zoom, but we try to meet face-to-face once a year. Additionally, our Head of Operations & Development is seeking some ad hoc fundraising and bid writing mentorship.
