Our partner is a young charity that brings amazing people together to make stories to change the world. They exists to shift public narratives and galvanise positive action on catastrophic species loss and the climate crisis.
As a newly established charity they are currently working on an ambitious period of expansion and are looking for a Treasurer with the time, relevant experience, drive and enthusiasm to help guide this process through their skills and knowledge as a finance professional.
The Treasurer will oversee the financial affairs of the organisation, ensuring that proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place. They will monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation to the Board and oversee the production of necessary financial reports and accounts.
The Board of Trustees usually meets 4 times per year either virtually via video conferencing or face-to-face, with optional sub-committee meetings across the year. The role will require a time commitment of approximately 1 day per month, both attending board meetings and working with the staff team to improve and ensure the smooth operation of financial systems.

Who we are.
Foundations was formed in December 2022 when The Early Intervention Foundation (EIF) and What Works for Children’s Social Care (WWCSC) formally merged, bringing together two sister organisations with a shared mission to use high-quality evidence to improve the lives of vulnerable children.
Foundations reflects the best of the two previous charities and focuses on providing support at the earliest possible stage, remaining deeply rooted in children’s social care practice. By bringing together the talents of both organisations, they have created a unified new team focused on delivering an exciting new strategy.
Over the next five years, Foundations will prioritise five major themes, with an eye always on generating actionable findings that can shape and improve services. These five areas are:
- Supporting parenting
- Strengthening family networks
- Domestic abuse
- Relationships for care experienced people and the service and practice models that underpin all of this
- Service and practice models
This strategy means that Foundations will make long-term investments to find out what works in these fields, focusing on depth over breadth.
Who we are looking for.
The Chair is central to Foundations’s work. They will lead the Board and Chief Executive to ensure Foundations is a high-impact charity, able to generate and champion actionable evidence that improves services to support family relationships for the most vulnerable children.
Foundations need a chair adept at forming and maintaining positive connections and networks in support of the work. The new Chair will be equally at home in conversation with families and frontline services as with the media, funders, or government.
The Chair needs to nurture a light-process, high-impact culture for an organisation increasingly focused and determined to generate actionable evidence about what works.
Foundations’s Chair will:
- Ensure the charity delivers the strategy that Trustees are committed to and that there is continuity in delivering a high-performance culture.
- Lead Trustees in holding the executive team to account for the charity’s mission, providing support and challenge.
- Act as a spokesperson and ambassador – representing Foundations where needed in meetings with central government officials and Ministers, chairing events and developing relationships with people who can help us achieve our impact.
- Review objectives and key results for the Chief Executive, providing coaching support, feeding back on their performance and leading on Chief Executive recruitment if there is a vacancy.
- Facilitate Trustees to actively participate, share divergent views and reach decisions as part of the organisation’s governance. Ensure that the business of Board committees is performed well by respective committee chairs.
- Chair meetings of the Board so they are conducted efficiently and effectively, ensuring that the charity is properly governed.
- Ensure the Board fulfils its duties to ensure the sound financial health of the charity and that the Board’s performance is best serving the impact Foundations is working to achieve.
The new Chair will have:
- Deep interest and personal commitment to improving the quality of foundational relationships for the most vulnerable children.
- Knowledge of the political and policy context of early intervention and children’s social care.
- Extensive experience successfully leading an organisation in a relevant field, with the ability to share this experience as a coach and mentor.
- Act as a prominent and credible public voice for a field of social policy or research and a persuasive champion for causes.
- Experience of contributing to a high-performing board and organisational governance, recognising the boundary between the role of trustees and an executive team.
- Understanding of the financial, structural, and people dimensions of leading an organisation and a commitment to a culture of excellent performance.
- Familiarity with What Works Centres and a commitment to high-quality impact evaluations, and the important role of Randomised Controlled Trials.
- Ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders across a wide range of organisations, including government, to secure sustainable funding.
- Demonstrable experience of promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.

This is an opportunity to share your professional skills, life experience and to further strengthen the Masonic Support Committee of the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF, the Freemasons’ Charity).
The MCF is funded entirely through the generosity of Freemasons and their families and is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country. We build better lives by enabling opportunity, advancing healthcare and education and promoting independence.
Our mission is to be a force for good by providing support, care and services to Freemasons and their families in need, and supporting other charities to help the most disadvantaged in society.
Being part of this Committee is a rewarding role which will support the MCF Board of Trustees in providing and delivering an effective package of support for Freemasons and their families who are in need.
We are looking for two new Committee members with a professional background in one or more of the following areas:
- Education
- Charitable grants and services to individuals
- Mental health
- Social policy
- Safeguarding
- Health
- Social care
The new Committee members will help us to develop our support and services to achieve maximum impact while being efficient and effective.
Specialist Advisers
We are also looking for two specialist advisers to the committee. Advisers play a vital role in supporting the Committee and the staff by bringing specialist expertise to both policy development and to the grants decision making process. We are particularly seeking two advisers, one with a general medical background and one with mental health expertise. Advisers do not normally attend committee meetings and are instead liaise with staff occasionally and remotely via secure email, phone and video calls. Medical advisers must have an active and clear GMC registration. A full role specification is available on request.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviewing and scrutinising grants policy;
- Reviewing and approving changes to the support package;
- Reviewing the scope and extent of the service offer;
- Considering environmental factors impacting on the level and range of support required;
- Ensuring that support generates maximum impact; and
- Ensuring that engagement with key stakeholders in the Freemasonry community is strong and effective in supporting our work.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in any of the key areas mentioned above. In addition, the following would be beneficial:
- Impact assessment;
- Safeguarding leadership;
- Volunteer management on a large scale (MCF has c.300 Visiting Volunteers)
- An interest in supporting people facing financial hardship, health and mobility problems.
- An interest in supporting children and families in need.
- To be an appropriate role model and to ensure that the Committee promotes equity, diversity and inclusion.
TIME COMMITMENT
- Committee members are required to attend four meetings per year, usually held at the offices in Great Queen Street. Some additional time will be required to study papers and possibly to assist in committee project work. This position is of a voluntary nature, however travel expenses can be claimed.
- Advisers must be able to provide a timely response to avoid delaying the decision making process for beneficiaries.
APPOINTMENT AND TENURE
- Appointments are subject to a clear DBS check.
- Committee members are appointed for an initial period of three years and appointments may be renewed at the end of the first period of office, subject to satisfactory appraisal by the Chairperson.
- Committee members are not eligible to hold office for more than six consecutive years unless approved by the MCF Nominations Committee.
- Committee members are appointees not employees.
- To ensure that MCF values are maintained at all times, Committee members are required, on appointment, to agree to, and abide by, the Code of Conduct.
- Committee members are required to undertake a small amount of mandatory training which is conducted online in key areas such as GDPR and safeguarding.

Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) is a rare, complex genetic disorder that causes blindness, learning disabilities, and obesity, along with other symptoms. BBS UK is the only UK charity dedicated to helping individuals with BBS and their loved ones. At Teenage Helpline, we are a tight-knit community of people who are passionate about make a difference in the lives of young people across the UK
Teenage Helpline is an online peer-to-peer mentoring service for young people. We can act as the first stepping-stone for young people who do not feel comfortable seeking support for themselves, or who need a listening ear to help them cope with personal issues.
All of our volunteers and employees are remote workers. We have great systems in place to allow our employees and volunteers to get to know each other, work effectively together and do great work!
We are a flexible organisation that values the contributions of everyone. We will never ask more from our volunteers and employees than they can give, but we are sure to celebrate and recognise their efforts.
About the role
Taking on a Non-Executive Director role is a great way to influence the future of Teenage Helpline, and advise the Charity to support its growth. We are seeking an individual who has experience in Charity fundraising to take a position on our Board to help guide Teenage Helpline through its fundraising journey. As a Charity, we do not charge for our services and, therefore, rely heavily on the generosity and support of others to enable us to carry out the work that we do. We are looking for individuals with extensive strategic experience in the charity fundraising space to offer strategic insights and guidance to our Charity leadership team and wider fundraising team. Our aim as a Charity is to significantly grow our income to enable us to deliver more, and we are only able to do this with a well thought out and carefully considered Fundraising Strategy.
Commitment
As with all volunteering roles, there is a level of commitment required on both sides to make the volunteering relationship successful. For our Non-Executive Director positions, the commitments are as followed:
- Attendance at Board Meetings which take place every other month for 1.5 hours in the evening
- Attendance at Board Sub-Committee meetings which take place throughout the month. Each NED will be able to choose which sub-committees they would like to attend.
- Ad-hoc additional meetings, such as strategy workshops, the annual strategy day held face-to-face and other meetings to offer guidance and support to the Charity (all on an as agreed basis).

We are seeking to recruit a new Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for S.A.L.V.E. International with a minimum commitment of 8-12 hours per month (which can be evening and weekends) based in the UK.
S.A.L.V.E. International is a small International Development charity registered in the UK and Uganda. Our ethos is “Support And Love Via Education”. We support children living and working on the streets of Uganda to have a brighter future.

With the generous help of our supporters, S.A.L.V.E. works with children on the streets of Jinja, Uganda, so they have the opportunity to leave their difficult pasts behind them and move forward, towards a brighter future.
We have Drop in Centres and Street Outreach services for children currently living on the streets. We offer short-term residential care in our Halfway Homes or Drug Rehabilitation Centre to help a child to transition off the streets, and follow up care and support for when a child has been resettled home to their family. We also offer educational support, or business skills training where assessed to be needed to help a child to settle home successfully.
What does the Board Treasurer role involve?
You will join our Board of Trustees in the UK and work alongside our CEO, Chair, staff teams and Ugandan board, to help S.A.L.V.E. International to thrive and increase our impact.
The term of office for our board is four years (which is renewable) – however it is possible for someone to step down, resign or take a sabbatical within this time period, should your circumstances change.
Practically the role will involve:
● 8 to 12 hours a month.
● Attending 4 board meetings per year (these are on a weekend in the daytime. The dates are set at the start of each year and they will normally consist of three virtual half day meetings and one face to face whole day meeting per year).
● Our board has 3 committees that meet virtually once per quarter between board meetings. These are Finance, HR and Governance and Fundraising and Communications. As treasurer you would chair the Finance committee, with the option to join any other committee alongside this if you wish and are able to.
● Responding to emails (where relevant), liaising with the CEO, Chair and other board members as needed, and championing any areas of S.A.L.V.E.’s work in which your knowledge, skills, experience and time available allow.
We also believe that it is highly beneficial for board members to visit the programme in Uganda at least once every four years to understand the work in greater depth, share their skills and to meet with team members and service users. Assistance towards your flight costs may be available, based on an application from the trustee.
Treasurer specific responsibilities:
As treasurer of the board you would also be responsible for:
• Ensuring the charity maintains proper accounts by overseeing and providing guidance to the staff members who do the day to day bookkeeping work.
• Reviewing the charity’s financial performance.
• Reviewing and presenting financial reports to the board in a clear format to help the board understand the charity’s financial position.
• Advising the board on how best to carry out its financial responsibilities.
• Liaising with professional advisors, S.A.L.V.E. staff and with the charity’s independent examiner/ auditors as needed.
• Overseeing the internal audit of our annual accounts.
• Reviewing policies for finance, security of assets and investment.
• Ensuring that the charity has robust and effective financial controls in place.
Essential skills for the treasurer:
• Have experience in finance/accounting. You might hold one of the following financial qualifications: ACA - Chartered Accountant, ACCA /CACA - Certified Accountant, CIMA - Chartered Management Accountant, or CIPFA.
• Have proven experience in communicating well with different stakeholders.
• Have the ability to review and develop strategies, policies, procedures and systems to ensure that S.A.L.V.E. is following good practice in line with the UK Charity Commission.
• Be solution focused and creative in their ability to approach problems.
Other desirable (but not essential) skills:
• Have experience of successfully working internationally and/ or with people from different cultural backgrounds.
• Have experience of using XERO software.
• Have previous experience within the charity sector and be able to evidence their enthusiasm and dedication.
• To encourage diversity on our Board we would especially welcome applicants who are originally from Uganda or have strong ties to Uganda, but are now based in the UK.

We are seeking Social Media Volunteers to assist our Social Media Marketing Team in creating and distributing engaging content on Hidayah’s social media platforms. Social media is integral to connecting with the Hidayah community, growing our organisational reach and promoting events such as our Queer Book Club, in-house research and educational resources for Ramadan.
We also use our social media platforms to post adverts for volunteers, promote Hidayah’s membership, respond to world news via solidarity statements and signpost LGBTQI+ Muslims to a range of national and international support.
You do not need to be LGBTQI+ or Muslim to be able to carry out this role. However, it is important to have a broad knowledge and understanding of these areas to be able to genuinely engage with the specific audience that follows Hidayah’s social media platforms.
What are the key responsibilities of this role?
Our Social Media Volunteers have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Creating and editing content to distribute across Hidayah’s social media platforms e.g. TikTok and Instagram
- Communicating with other volunteers and the Social Media Marketing Trustee on feedback, suggestions and issues
- Carrying out independent research to obtain quality content and sharing relevant information on Hidayah’s platforms
- Actively engage with people following us on social media
- Promoting events and projects as and when appropriate
- Administration; monitoring inboxes, responding to messages and comments, signposting to the relevant emails, archiving out of date posts
What do we expect from a Social Media Volunteer?
Skills:
- Competency in social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Experience using and generating content for TikTok
- Filming competency desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of Hootsuite desirable but not essential
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the community
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and behave with professionalism
Personality:
- Strong commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of LGBTQIA+ Muslim individuals
- A willingness to learn
- A self-starter who is proactive and inquisitive
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Passion for Hidayah’s cause
- Reliable with good organisational skills
- A creative and inquisitive thinker
All volunteers are expected to join Hidayah’s Membership and Hidayah Discord server, read all Hidayah policies read, understand and agree with the constitution of Hidayah (available on our website).

How much commitment is required?
The hours are flexible around your schedule, but typically we envisage this role taking up to 4 hours a week. Monthly catch ups are organised with the Social Media Marketing Trustee to assess workload and availability.

South Mitcham Community Association SMCA exists to promote voluntary and community action as a means of improving the quality of life for people in London Borough of Merton.
SMCA is a community hub, providing a welcoming place for all residents, irrespective of their circumstances. A place where residents on a low income or requiring services to support them in making healthy lifestyle choices, can go for practical help, guidance, social networking and fun activities. Through our work we seek to promote community cohesion, a sense of pride within the community and increasing levels of perceived neighbourhood safety. Consultation and inclusiveness, together with relevance and affordability are important features of SMCA’s work.
In addition to the general responsibilities duties of the chair include the following.
Providing leadership to the organisation and the board by ensuring that everyone remains focused on the delivery of the organisation’s charitable purposes to provide greater public benefit.
Chairing and facilitating board meetings ensuring:
° A balance is struck between time-keeping and space for discussions.
° Business is dealt with, and decisions made
° Decisions, actions, and deliberations are adequately minuted.
° The implementation of decisions is clearly assigned and monitored.
·Getting all directors involved in the Board’s work
·Ensuring an effective relationship between:
° The Board and staff/volunteers
° The Board and the external stakeholders/community
° Checking that decisions taken at meetings are implemented
° Representing the organisation at functions and meetings, and acting as a spokesperson as appropriate
° Planning the annual cycle of board meetings and other general meetings where required.
° Setting agendas for board and other general meetings
° Developing the board of trustees including induction, training, appraisal and succession planning
° Addressing conflict within the board and within the organisation
Remuneration The role of Chair is not accompanied by any financial remuneration, although expenses for travel may be claimed.
Location: Meetings will be held in the South Mitcham Community Centre
Time commitment: 6 Board meetings per year +1 x AGM.
Skills/Knowledge: We are currently looking for individuals with leadership, decision making skills, governance, and an understanding of the voluntary sector

· Impartiality, fairness, and the ability to respect confidences
· Demonstrates the highest standards of integrity, probity, and corporate governance
· Possesses relevant knowledge
· Has the relevant skills to plan and conduct board meetings effectively
· Takes responsibility for the Board’s composition and development.
It would also be desirable but not essential for the chair/vice-chair to have knowledge of the type of work undertaken by the organisation and a wider involvement with the voluntary sector and other networks.
