Job Summary

We expect this role to focus on developing and maintaining relationships with key funders, stakeholders, institutions and individuals. It will undertake work to secure funding, resources and partnerships for both Shared Assets and the wider land justice movement, and to raise the profile and reputation of Shared Assets.

The role will have responsibility for securing core funding for Shared Assets from trusts, foundations and high net worth individuals, and for supporting colleagues to secure grant and commercial funding for consultancy, research, movement building and communications projects. It will have responsibility for reporting on core grants and providing quality control for colleagues for their bids, tenders and funder reports. As part of this work the role will play a key part in providing intelligence and foresight to contribute to the organisation’s strategy and business planning. 

Beyond securing consistent core funding for Shared Assets the role will also work with funders and others to secure longer term resourcing of the wider land movement in order to deliver our collective ambitions for a just and sustainable land system. 

As part of a self managing organisation all team members are expected to contribute to the day to day management of the organisation through participation in management circles, team days and working groups.

Main Responsibilities

Fundraising and resourcing

• Develop and maintain relationships with funders to fund work that seeks to support common good land use and to create a more just and sustainable land system. 

• Work with the team to ensure we maintain a healthy pipeline of bids and tenders in order to meet income generation targets across the organisation. 

• Work with the wider land justice movement and funders to secure significant, consistent and long term resourcing for the wider land movement, working in ways that are open and transparent to, and inclusive of, the wider movement and which will help to deliver systemic change that meets our collective objectives for a more just and sustainable land system. 

Stakeholder relationships

• Develop and maintain relationships with key partner organisations in order to build an understanding of the wider context and system in which we are working in order to inform our strategic development and to identify opportunities for future partnership working. To understand where Shared Assets is valued and effective, and where it may need to adapt and change.

General

• Participate in the Funding & Finance circle, participate in relevant work groups and liaise with other circles where appropriate. 

• Contribute to communications and raise the profile of the organisation - in particular working closely with the Communications Coordinator on external messaging with respect to Shared Assets and the wider land movement.

• Provide reports and information for the board as required.

• Provide support to colleagues where needed, including in the running of events, training and other activities.

• Participate in and contribute to the development of Shared Assets as an organisation, including involvement in collective decision making, being accountable to policies, and helping improve those policies where relevant.

• Any other duties as may be required in a small organisation.

About this role  

The Senior Business Development & Fundraising Coordinator will work as part of the Fundraising and business development Team at RedR. Their role is to work across all income streams within business development and fundraising, with a focus on running the business development and fundraising team’s day to day work, supporting the Associate Director of Programmes and Business Development in meeting BD and fundraising targets, draft high quality bids – particularly to institutional funders-, and nurturing relationships individual and corporate donors, as well as trusts and foundations.  

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Team, Project and Line Management  

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the business development and fundraising team, including line management of the BD/Fundraising Officer. 

• Ensure timely delivery of BD and fundraising projects and deadlines in coordination with teams across organisation 

• Oversee the management and maintenance of Salesforce and other software and applications. 

• Ensure accurate income consolidation and donation capturing. 

• Support the Associate Director of Programmes and Business Development in developing/updating and operationalising team strategies, budgets, systems, and processes. 

• Regularly provide feedback and information to achieve improved results and integrate planning and delegation when making decisions. 

Achieving Results: 

Business Development 

• Set ambitious targets together with Associate Director and achieve progress toward organisational objectives and Operational Plan.  

• Conduct internal reporting and prospect research into opportunities and funder priorities 

• Lead the development of successful small-medium and occasionally larger and complex bids to institutional and corporate donors, trusts and foundations in collaboration with teams across the organisation  

• Assist the Associate Director of Programmes and Business Development in developing large bids, primarily for institutional funders, ensuring drafts are prepared to a high standard.  

Fundraising: (With support from Communications Team) 

• Lead the delivery of smaller fundraising activities and events. 

• Collaborate with teams across the organisation to secure funding from trusts and foundations. 

• Identify and implement opportunities for engaging individual donors. 

Engaging with Stakeholders: 

• Develop and implement strategies for engagement and partnerships with a wide range of funding stakeholders. 

• Nurture strategic partnerships with key clients, understanding their underlying needs and exploring opportunities for cross-collaboration. 

• Share relationship management of institutional and corporate donors, trusts and foundations. 

• Communicate RedR UK’s unique value proposition to clients and expand the scope of engagement with them. 

• Successfully negotiate terms that benefit both the client and RedR UK. 

Demonstrating Leadership: 

• Line-manage BD coordinator effectively, setting clear objectives and monitoring performance. 

• Promote a culture of innovation and adaptability and encourage leadership development within the team.

FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS 

EXPERIENCE 

Essential: 

• Good experience working with institutional funders and understanding funder priorities.

Role Summary

The Fundraising team is responsible for establishing and stewarding national donor relationships with high net-worth individuals, Trusts and Foundations, and some corporate partnerships. This is a relatively new team with an exciting challenge; to imbed exceptional new business and donor stewardship practices into the charity’s way of working. Having had the ongoing generous support of a single donor for many years, the team has worked on diversifying the charity’s income and is looking to grow and build on these relationships and develop new and more income generating partnerships.

The interim Head of Philanthropy will report into the Director of Fundraising (currently being recruited) and will be responsible for managing a Philanthropy Manager and the Donor Relations Manager. Further investment in this vital team is also planned. The Director of Fundraising will sit on the Senior Leadership Team.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

• Research, qualify and actively seek out new funding opportunities, establishing and ultimately managing a dynamic flow of prospects. Demonstrating clear, timely progression in a pipeline portfolio. 
• Develop relationships with donors and other major funding partners, raising high-value, multi-year donations. 
• Build relationships with new and existing senior volunteers including members of our Board, providing support to the (fundraising) Development Committee to advance prospect and donor relationships. 
• Work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure our funders see the impact of their support and are kept updated about ways for them to stay and increase their involvement.
• Work in partnership with the Development and Programme Directorates to ensure joined up solutions are in place and a seamless customer partner journeys are in place.

• Pitch compelling partnership opportunities through presentations, visits, and personal conversations with potential donors.

• Support the delivery of events such as dinners hosted by members of our Board and senior volunteers.

We now seek an interim Head of Place Management to join our Place Management team. Main Purpose of Job

 The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the Finance Department of a rapidly growing Charity with exciting innovative expansion plans to drive income in excess of the current £4m and social impact value above £70m, whilst managing expenditure in line with budget and maintaining reserves to agreed Board target.

Reporting into the CEO you will collaborate and provide input into the financial strategy to support the organisation’s mission. Key responsibilities:

• Lead, Mentor and Develop the Finance Team.
• Deliver the following reporting in a timely and efficient manner:
  • Accurate monthly Financial Management accounts including, succinct, informative and action led commentary.
  • Overall management of Trust expenditure in line with tight Budgets and Forecasts, providing variance analysis and commentary based on regular review meetings with Budget Owners.
  • Production of Annual Budget (plus half yearly reforecast) including a Summary Income and Expenditure statement supported by detailed assumptions highlighting surplus/deficit on a project by project basis.
  • Alongside budget, production of Cashflow forecast, Capital Expenditure budget and forecast reserves cover.
  • Provide easy to understand, engaging and succinct Quarterly Financial reports and present to the Quarterly Finance Subcommittee and Board meetings focusing on KPI’s including, commentary on key metrics trends and variances.
•  Ensure the Finance Team engage with other departments and together with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver the Trust’s objectives to increase financial awareness across the organisation by
  • Working with Budget Holders to understand and manage expenditure on a monthly basis and assist them with strategy and pricing decisions to feed into the budgeting and reforecasting process.
  • Evaluate and review new projects and new funding applications of funding in a timely manner, providing financial analysis as required.
  • Provide Financial Analysis to support regular monitoring reporting required by funders.
  • Drive KPI’s to evaluate projects and provide post-project analysis to evaluate and monitor the project’s progress against the KPI’s
• Work with Management and Trustees to develop a recently formed trading subsidiary which will become responsible for some existing and new revenue streams. This will require working with legal and tax advisors as necessary.

• Qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA with a minimum 5 years of financial/commercial and team management experience.
• Excellent business acumen and commercial awareness gained in similar size organisations or larger.
• Strong analytical skills with a minimum 3+ years relevant Financial, Budgeting, Forecasting experience.

About this key role
Our successful candidate will lead by example and act as both a positive role model to the team of caseworkers and as its day-to-day expert.  Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will ensure, on a day-to-day basis, that all monitoring information and evidence is being recorded and collated in line with agreed processes and procedures and that the team can work effectively, including identifying training opportunities and peer-supervision.

We will rely on you to provide support, advice and advocacy for young people, and their families, regarding accommodation, to produce support and risk management plans based on assessments and to deliver a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as the situation dictates; providing practical help such as social and housing support, ETE options, benefits work, debt advice, liaising with utilities, and cleaning.  Closing cases efficiently and positively, including identifying a referral route for young people and their families when required is also a key aspect of the role.
