The Bromley by Bow Centre (BBBC) is working with East London Cardiovascular Prevention Group (ELoPE) to bring social prescribing into secondary care for Barts Health patients.
Social Prescribing is a way of linking people with non-medical support to improve their physical and mental wellbeing, connecting them with services in their local communities and supporting them to feel more empowered in their lives.

The Bart's Social Prescribing service aims to address health inequities, working with people who would benefit from:

• Support with wider social issues including debt, housing and employment
• Being more connected to people in their local community
• Participating in physical and healthy lifestyle activities
• Emotional and wellbeing support
• Accessing a range of services locally

Essential skills and experience:

• Commitment to the vision and mission of the Bromley by Bow Centre

The Coordinator will be the first point of contact for referrals into the Bromley by Bow Centre’s Cardiovascular Social Prescribing service. They will make initial contact with people referred into the service, book appointments with members of the team and connect people to local activities and services. The role will support in the development of activities designed to aid people's recovery.

Early Years Community Worker

We are looking for an Early Years Community Worker to join our caring, creative and resourceful Hackney Playbus early years team, with additional responsibility for coordinating the staff team schedule and ensuring that appropriate resources are in place to deliver our programme. 

Together we run stay and play sessions from a bright and beautiful double-decker bus that has been converted into a mobile early years community play space. Our sessions take place both inside and outside the Playbus in different locations across Hackney, providing a rich play and learning environment for children aged 0-4yrs old and a welcoming space for their parents and carers. We listen to the needs of parents and carers and help families to access support services where needed. 

As well as our Playbus sessions, we bring our informal, welcoming approach to baby groups that we run in community settings.

Staff scheduling

• To create stimulating play spaces to support children’s learning and development, including lifting play equipment on and off the Playbus as required, and/or setting up equipment in community hall settings

Working with Parents and Carers

• To provide a warm, welcoming and nurturing space for parents and carers, whether on the Playbus, in group venues, or in other community settings

We are currently seeking two dynamic Practitioners to join our Young People’s service (Yuva), working directly with young people using abuse and violence and their families.

Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP), a division of Richmond Fellowship since 2018, has been a leading provider of Respect accredited community perpetrator programmes working to stop domestic violence, increase safety for women and children, and reduce harm to families for over 29 years.

This role works within the Yuva team to develop and deliver intervention and safety programmes to families affected by Child to Parent Violence and Young People’s Intimate Partner Violence. This role requires a robust and detailed understanding and experience of working with adolescent development, domestic abuse, child abuse and trauma, and the impacts of these on young people’s development. As well as a good understanding of the nature of domestic violence and its effects on women and children, and on the parent-child relationship. You will have experience of providing direct work with young people and their parents/carers, working flexibly but robustly and supportively, responding to challenging or harmful behaviour to facilitate change. You will have experience of providing structured one-to-one and/or group-work counselling or behavioural change interventions, and of working with both children and adults from diverse backgrounds. You will have an excellent understanding of Safeguarding procedures and be confident working both independently and as part of a team, working closely and collaboratively alongside partner agencies such as Child Services and Youth Offending Services. Candidates with undergraduate degree level qualifications in relevant fields will be considered, alongside those with extensive experience working in the domestic abuse field with young people.

You will have the opportunity to play a key role in developing DVIP’s young people’s services, working in partnerships with a range of statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver effective community responses to domestic violence, in line with RESPECT practice standards. Day to day, you will be working flexibly across a number of locations (including regular days working co-located within Local Authority Children and Families Services and providing outreach in schools and other relevant or referring services) managing referrals, assessing risk and suitability for therapeutic intervention, and engaging families.

In this rewarding role you will be working directly with young people and their parents/carers, delivering structured interventions to increase safety, as well as providing specialist support to other professionals working with families experiencing abuse, through provision of expert consultations and training.

You will be able to work independently and flexibly, including some early evenings, in areas where DVIP is contracted, for part of the working week. You will be comfortable managing your own workload and related admin, and you will be able to communicate clearly with a range of people about sensitive and complex issues, including the writing of professional reports.

This is a permanent full time role requiring the post-holder to work 37.5 hours a week. The role will require working across Surrey and a driving licence/use of a car are highly recommended.

On 1st June 2024, Richmond Fellowship, part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities highly experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families living with the effects of mental ill health, drug and alcohol use, gambling and domestic violence merged with Humankind to form a single organisation that provides the joined-up mental health, housing and drug and alcohol support we’ve all known has been needed for decades. In October 2024, Humankind will be renamed to reflect the new organisation.

Our Emergency Winter Night Shelter Service is run seven nights a week in venues across west London including: Fulham, Kensington, Hammersmith and Richmond.

In response to the increased needs, we are opening a women only shelter which will be staffed by women. With additional staff support, we will be providing a safe environment with additional support to guests who may have complex needs.

About you

Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota that will include weekends and public holidays. Due to the vulnerable group you will be working with, you will be asked to undergo an enhanced DBS check as part of our safeguarding measures prior to appointment.

Job spec

The Evening Project Worker is responsible for the following:

• Maintaining a friendly, supportive environment and cultivating positive relationships with guests, colleagues, and volunteers.
• Following best practice procedures for the security and safety of the guests and volunteers.
• Diffusing difficult or dangerous situations and summon assistance when necessary. Training will be provided. Writing regular shift reports using the In-Form client relationship platform.
• Carrying out regular checks around the shelter, checking conditions of all areas.
• Adhering to Glass Door’s operational and health & safety policies in all aspects of your work. Maintaining clear lines of communication with your colleagues including the Night Shelter Manager, Caseworkers, and the Operations Manager.
• Ensuring cleaning protocols are followed and implemented.
• Undertaking any other duties to aid the good running of the project, as required by the Shelter Manager or Operations Manager.
• Accurately reporting observations, interactions, concerns and actions with guests to their caseworker using written reports.
• Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota that includes weekends and public holidays.
• On occasions you will also be expected to attend training, team meetings and other activities as required.

Person spec

Essential

• Commitment to providing an excellent service and to interact with shelter guests in a positive and respectful manner.
•  An understanding of and empathy towards the challenges women may experience.  Ability to work as part of a team and be a supportive team member.
• Confidence in dealing with challenging behaviour.  Good written and verbal communications skills.  Ability to carry out manual handling tasks.
• Understanding of and commitment to Equal Opportunities.

Desirable

• Experience working within the homelessness sector or with similarly vulnerable people.
• Ability to speak additional languages including but not limited to Polish, Romanian, Arabic, Spanish, French, Bulgarian, Russian or Tigrinya.
• Lived experience of homelessness.
• An understanding and value of trauma informed care.
• Relevant training certificates (First aid, health & safety, fire Safety, conflict de-escalation).

This is a part-time (up to 4 days per week for the right candidate), hybrid role offering flexible working hours.

The Role

You will be at the heart of the theatre’s mission, ensuring that financial practices not only meet but exceed industry standards.

You will work closely with the Executive and Senior Management team, providing strategic financial guidance to both the Executive and the Board of Trustees. Your expertise will ensure the theatre meets its financial and governance obligations while directly impacting exciting and diverse activities.

About You

You will be a qualified or soon to be Qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA) and hold membership of and be accountable to a professional body with evidence of ongoing CPD.

You will have experience of:

• Taking responsibility for the financial running of an organisation with a similar turnover, preferably within the arts or charitable sector.
• Statutory reporting
• Setting/ managing significant budgets and working within financial parameters.
• Supporting and developing the financial skills of senior managers
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with Executive teams and Boards.
• Managing and improving administrative, people and financial processes
• Staff line management including appraisals, training/ development needs and managing issues
• Knowledge of charity accounting and SORP, Theatre Tax Relief and employment law would be beneficial.

This is an opportunity to join Refuge as a Building Advisor. You will be responsible for ensuring that Refuge complies with statutory building and property obligations and monitor changes in industry standards and regulators requirements. The post holder will also monitor obligations in property agreements and support corporate services and provide technical advice which may require research. The post holder will collect property data to demonstrate compliance and for reporting purposes as well as update Refuge’s property polices accordingly and train people.
