About the Role

We are looking for a technologist to help us in the next phase of scaling our web platform and supporting the communities we serve. To date our tech support has all come through an external team, and now we are excited to add an in-house role with significant support from our experienced (part-time) CTO and an external team.

You will work across a range of technologies on a variety of problems, which may include working with the team to triage urgent bugs; making improvements in our testing setup and CI/CD pipeline; understanding and investigating our data; supporting with IT issues; and more.

This is a flexible role in a growing charity, with the opportunity to build and deploy solutions from the ground up. As well as our CTO, the former lead engineer will be on hand to answer questions and support (0.2FTE), and the team developing features has experience working on this app. We will look to expand this team over time as the charity continues to grow.

Our technology

Our platform is built on the following stack, so familiarity with some of these, or equivalents, will be helpful for this role.

Areas of Responsibility

Monitoring and resolving issues

• Performing root cause analysis of production errors and resolving technical issues (with support from tech lead and development team)

• Communicating with the school partnership team and content development team to understand requirements and keep them updated on issue progress

• Designing procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance

• Building tools to reduce occurrence of errors and improve customer experience

• Providing level 2/3 technical support

Platform engineering, pipelines and deployment

• Setting up CI/CD pipelines for our products

• Building and maintaining development tools and infrastructure

• Deploying updates and fixes to production environments

• Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes

• Building and deploying automation and monitoring solutions

• Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats

Support with data

• Liaising with the wider team to understand data needs

• Writing and reviewing SQL queries, including to extract anonymised data or report statistics

• Creating data dashboards (potentially with volunteer support)

• Making sure our Postgres database is operating efficiently and reviewing updates

About You

Our ideal candidate is a problem solver who has capability across a range of technology areas, and can drive the range of problems that might arise in running a web platform to solutions. You may have developed and deployed a web application, whether professionally or as a side project, and been responsible for its end-to-end maintenance. You may have managed the IT for an organisation, whether professionally or in a voluntary capacity, including managing integrations and solving users’ problems.

We will ask you for examples of the following skills and experience:

• Experience in continuous integration and continuous delivery practices

• Experience deploying & maintaining web applications, including cloud hosting (AWS or equivalent)

• Working knowledge of databases and SQL

• Familiarity with version control software (Git preferred)

• Understanding of monitoring tools (Sentry or equivalent)

• Experience with automated testing tools (Cypress or equivalent)

• Collaborative approach to solving technical problems

• Effective communications skills with both technical and non-technical audiences

The St Mungo’s Pan London Rough Sleeping Team (No Second Night Out) provide a rapid response service, intervening to ensure no one needs to sleep rough, our work is ongoing and we are currently looking for people to join our services across London. 

As an Assessment and Reconnection Worker, you will: 

• Be part of a busy team environment working closely with people new to, or at risk of rough sleeping. 

• Provide a personalised case management service to clients, turning assessment recommendations into practical action plans which fully involves the client.

The role involves working in multi-agency settings in Camden and Islington, working in partnership with existing delivery structures, local networks and developing collective practices. Navigators are able to manage their own their own time, working flexibly on the go, including some working from home.

The Navigator will carry a caseload of 10 client who are rough sleeping and experiencing multiple disadvantage, and will provide end-to-end holistic, coordinated support for each individual, from first contact in a street setting through to helping them to achieve a more settled and fulfilled lifestyle.

Navigators will provide personalised solutions which demonstrate innovation, creativity as well as iterative learning.

The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of acute mental health conditions, complex trauma, and addiction.

As a Navigator, you will provide support such as:

•  Assessing their needs and identifying their goals.
•  Helping them to find and maintain suitable accommodation.
•  Supporting them to access health, social care, and mental health services.
•  Assisting them to apply for benefits, grants, and other entitlements.
•  Linking them with education, training, and employment opportunities.
•  Empowering them to develop their skills, confidence, and resilience.
•  Advocating for them with other agencies and professionals.
•  Providing crisis intervention and harm reduction advice.

Programme

The Support and Advice on Sexual Heath (SASH) programme is a partnership between Turning Point, METRO Charity, London Friend and Naz. We run sexual health support for communities across Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea & Westminster boroughs.

We provide free, non-judgemental and confidential support to residents of Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington, Chelsea & Westminster areas, with a focus on sexual health, relationships, mental health and wellbeing.

SASH provides a wide range of services, including counselling, life coaching, one-to-one peer mentoring and peer support groups for people seeking support in relation to reproductive health, chemsex recovery, living with HIV and support around sexual orientation and gender identity.

Role

This role will predominantly focus on health inequalities regarding sexual health, mental health and drug and alcohol misuse. The worker will predominantly work with men, but also LGBTQ+ communities, Black and Asian heritage communities, migrant communities, people living with HIV and sex workers.

We’re looking for someone to work with schools across Lewisham to improve the education and health potential of Young Carers. You’ll work alongside our wider team supporting Unpaid Carers across the borough.

You’ll develop relationships with schools and school staff, raising awareness and supporting the identification of Young Carers within education settings, and supporting the development of policy, guidance and resources. You’ll work one-to-one and with groups of Young Carers, and carry out home-based visits to offer support interventions.

The Church & Community Organiser is a crucial and exciting role that aims to utilise community organising as a means support mission in and amongst estate and low income communities in the parish of St Peter de Beauvoir Town.

Main Duties

• to oversee membership with and relationship to Citizens UK/Centre for Theology and Community or another recognised partner institution utilising community organising
• to undergo community organising training (if not done so already) in order to be able to train local leaders and congregation members in community organising 
• to building relationships with and discern the spiritual and material needs of residents of estates and low income communities through a regular pattern of 121 conversations (on average 3 a day)
• to identify local leadership and institutions on estate and low income communities, and to help develop local leaders 
• to convene small groups and local actions to discern and meet identified need to enable action to be taken together to deliver social and community change
• to listen actively via a programme of 121s with members of St Peter’s congregation (and Warm Welcome guests) especially those living in estate and low income communities to develop St Peter de Beauvoir’s ability to welcome and develop agency of guests and worshippers from estate and low income communities 
• to create spaces and opportunities to meet spiritual needs of residents of estates and low income communities through creation of prayer spaces, worshipping opportunities and new services/worshipping communities, in addition to signposting to existing services and activities currently taking place at St. Peter’s. 

Person Specification

Essential:

• Experience of setting up a new or consolidating an existing project
• Experience of working with and developing the leadership potential of volunteers
• Experience of working with different faith communities, as well as those of no religious faith
• Experience of risk taking to create a project/ situation/event that illustrates your values
• A working knowledge and good understanding of St Peter de Beauvoir and its communities (or a similar community and clear desire to do so locally)
• Ability to inspire, motivate and lead (particularly people who are different than you)
• Ability to organise yourself and others and to work responsibly in an unstructured environment
• Ability to use imaginative strategies to help improve disadvantaged communities
• Ability to plan and organise under pressure
• Ability to work with and relate to all types of people
• Ability to teach and facilitate workshops 
• Ability to develop the potential of others
• A passion for justice, and the role of church communities in achieving justice for all at a local level, especially amongst those from marginalised communities 

Desirable:

• A demonstrable track record of successful Community Organising 
• Experience of carrying out a power analysis and using the results to initiate new relationships
• Experience of successful fundraising
• Clear evidence of campaigns won
• Financial management skills including ability to set and manage a budget

Post: Support Worker (mulitple positions)

Hours: Full time. Average waking hours: 32 per week plus a maximum of 48 sleeps per calendar year OR 32 per week plus a maximum of 52 sleeps per calendar year

Continuous rolling rota over 365 days (Christmas and New Year shift cover are allocated separately.)

Salary: Starting at £23,080 – £26,819 (annual increments subject to successful appraisals) (dependent on which job role)
