   About Fundraising at CARAS  

  CARAS offers holistic early-action support to refugees and people seeking asylum, ensuring individuals have the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive in the UK. Founded in 2008, we have co-created our thriving adult and youth services in partnership with CARAS community members over the last 16 years and now run a thriving weekly provision of social and educational programming delivered alongside wrap-around casework support.

The growth in our service has been underpinned by great success in fundraising which has allowed us to consistently grow year on year, with our current annual budget now standing at approximately £750,000.  Fundraising is led by the Head of Development and Impact. The creation of the Fundraising Officer role is an exciting new step for CARAS, providing us with the opportunity to get to understand our supporters more deeply, and build meaningful new partnerships with businesses and investors across many sectors to improve the outcomes for individuals with a refugee background across south London. Working together with the Head of Development and Impact, the role with focus on nurturing individual giving, community fundraising, CSR partnerships and building relationships within our local community, increasing our unrestricted income as you go. 

 We are seeking a creative, motivated worker who has ideas for how to support a thriving organisation, helping us build new relationships and partnerships that will support CARAS to maintain and adaptive and iterative approach towards our work to ensure that person-centred support is available when new-arrivals need it most. 

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, skilled at relationship management and familiar to individual giving. They will need to be able to build corporate partnerships, develop and deliver campaigns that drive support from our donor base, create fundraising events that bring our work to life, and build and maintain effective donor stewardship and retention journeys that create proximity to our work. CARAS is intentional within our efforts to include community members throughout all aspects of our work, and the successful candidate must be deeply committed to community member inclusion in a manner that is meaningful and not extractive.

  About the role  

  This role focuses on scaling CARAS’s unrestricted income portfolio, building CARAS’s support base to sustainably increase our income. Working closely with the Head of Development and Impact, this will include:  

• Planning and executing individual campaigns and appeals, including our annual Big Give campaign. 

• Developing a powerful case for support, articulating our work, its impact and the impact donors have. 

• Writing donor communications 

• Developing and delivering effective donor stewardship and retention journeys to retain donors and maximise support. 

• Identifying and cultivating relationships with our local community, building new partnerships with businesses and individuals to unlock giving opportunities. 

• Inspiring an exciting range of community fundraising campaigns run by our supporters, providing help and guidance where necessary. 

• Running fundraising events, bringing program teams and community members together with supporters to bring our work to life. 

• Monitoring the performance and measure critically against targets. 

• Undertaking research to understand who are supports are, their motivations to give, and plan engagement strategies. 

• Managing a donor database.

Thomson Reuters Foundation is looking for a Legal Manager, Legal Service for Independent Media to join our TrustLaw team.

As Legal Manager, Legal Service for Independent Media, you will provide dedicated project leadership to continue to pilot the operationalization and implementation of a legal offering to support journalists and independent newsrooms, whose safety and independence are under threat.

You will report to TrustLaw’s Head of Special Projects, while working closely with the TrustLaw and the Media Freedom teams. You will manage one Legal Officer, Media Freedom.

This is a fixed-term 12-month contract based in London.

About the Role:

As our Legal Manager, Legal Service for Independent Media, you will:

• Map evolving trends and legal threats for journalists, media freedom NGOs and independent media outlets and identify the most pressing legal gaps and needs

• Build excellent relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, including expanding our network of expert NGOs and legal teams working in the media, journalism and media freedom space

• Refine the operating model for the media-legal offering based on feedback received, including intake process, eligibility requirements, project flow, and impact monitoring mechanisms

• Work closely with our Media Freedom and Programmes team to ensure alignment and integration of the media-legal offering within the Foundation's existing media freedom work, and to identify other innovative programming, products and approaches that best leverage the Foundation’s assets

• Scope, and support the management of pro bono or low bono legal requests and cross-border research projects that address critical needs of journalists, media freedom NGOs and independent media outlets

• Scope and oversee the development of tools, resources, trainings and other content on key legal issues of relevance to journalists and independent media outlets to address threats to their safety and independence and build resilience

• Deliver and/or coordinate delivery of trainings, legal health checks and events for media freedom NGOs, journalists and/or media houses, often in partnership with the programming teams

• Support the development and implementation of a communications, engagement and outreach plan, as needed, in collaboration with the Foundation’s Communications, Social and Media Freedom teams

About You

To be our Legal Manager, Legal Service for Independent Media, you will likely have:

• An LLB, with preference for a qualified lawyer or an advanced law degree

• At least five years’ experience working in the legal field, with prior experience in media law or related human rights matters, either in a law firm, media house or non-profit organisation

• Strong understanding of international standards on press freedom and/or the media law/policy landscape. Understanding of the legal needs of journalists and media outlets in the global south or Central/Eastern Europe/FSU an advantage

• Excellent project management and organisational skills including the ability to manage effectively multiple matters and projects in a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of creative and flexible thinking, and the ability to incorporate lessons learnt through pilot delivery

• Prior experience working on donor-funded projects is a plus

• Excellent research, drafting and analytical skills, with experience in training an advantage

• Excellent interpersonal skills – able to establish and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally, with people from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds

• Resilience, ability to cope with high pressure and work environments and find solutions to problems when they arise – able to quickly understand complex information and communicate to non-experts

The Role

You will provide employment support to refugee clients enrolled in the Refugee Employability Programme (REP) and help them to achieve their employability goals. You will be the main point of contact for clients enrolled in the project, delivering one on one support across a variety of employability activities including updating CVs, writing cover letters, searching for jobs, applying for jobs, finding volunteering, work experience and training opportunities and preparing for interviews.

​You will work to a variety of performance targets based on the progression outcomes of clients such as voluntary and work placements and achieving and sustaining paid employment.

• Experience in successfully supporting refugees into sustainable employment
• Understanding of the issues and challenges faced by unemployed people to finding work, including those who first language is not English
• Experience of providing advice and guidance and supervising a caseload of clients

Volunteering Support Officer

The role

Working within Tameside’s volunteering team to raise the profile of volunteering in the community, the Volunteering Support Officer will support the delivery of a high-quality service both to individuals interested in volunteering, and to volunteer managers working within Tameside’s VCFSE sector.

Background to School Food Matters

School Food Matters (SFM) exists to teach children about food and to improve children’s access to healthy, sustainable food during their time at school. We provide fully funded food education programmes to schools. Our experience delivering these programmes informs and strengthens our campaigns, bringing the voices of children, parents and teachers to government policy.

Healthy Zones programme

Healthy Zones supports primary, secondary and special schools to create a food environment that puts young people's health centre stage. We are working with schools to develop food policies and to improve the food served in their breakfast and after school clubs. The programme uses a whole school approach through hands-on engagement with students, staff, kitchen teams, governors and parents.

Job Purpose

· To promote, develop and deliver the Healthy Zones programme across schools in Southwark and Lambeth

· Support with the expansion of the Healthy Zones programme across other regions in England

Key Tasks include:

•  Recruit schools to take part in Healthy Zones
• Complete food audits in schools looking across the whole school day (training provided)
• Develop and deliver healthy after school club and breakfast club modules (convene working groups in schools, run simple food preparation engagement sessions (training provided), empower student voice, build relationships with the after-school club staff)
• Develop food policy improvements in schools in our six key areas by building relationships with staff, and engaging students, parents and governors
• Build relationships and work closely / maintain relationships with teachers, teaching assistants, cooks and senior leaders in primary and secondary schools in Lambeth and Southwark to improve the food they offer their students
• Build and support relationships with contacts in partner organisations/LAs, and deliver training where necessary

STEP for people seeking asylum is an exciting new specialised programme, working with people in the asylum system by providing high quality advice and guidance and delivering group pre-employability workshops. The post holder will play a pivotal role from the start of this programme in its first year of delivery.

You will prepare participants for employment (where appropriate) and help them to achieve their chosen training and employment objectives. You will work to a variety of performance targets based on the progression outcomes of participants such as successful delivery of workshops, completion of training courses, volunteering, and achieving and sustaining paid employment.

The STEP Employment Advisor will work remotely, and can be based anywhere in the UK, however you will need to be able to travel regularly for community outreach, engagement and workshop delivery.

Job Title: Chef (Part-Time)

Homeless Action is a large registered charity (No. 1063208) that offers accommodation with support to vulnerable single homeless people.  We are looking to appoint a part-time Chef to work flexibly across our hostel sites and at our Community & Hub: The Cafe@264 all based in central Blackpool. The job roles involves preparing, serving and cooking healthy, homemade nutritious meals; helping plan seasonal menus; the ability to work in a busy café and to manage volunteers and assisting in the delivery of some basic life skills training to our hostel residents.

You will lead delivery on a wide variety of energy and carbon reduction programmes and activities with communities, businesses and individuals across North Wales, coordinating and engaging with more vulnerable groups within communities, including older people, people with disabilities and households experiencing fuel poverty.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan and lead-deliver a wide variety of energy and carbon reduction projects and activities with communities, businesses, and individuals across North Wales.
• Plan and support the Energy Advice Team to deliver our service in line with all funder and contract requirements, ensuring quality of support, time management and report requirements are all completed in appropriate time aligned with all requirements.
• Manage and monitor the Energy Advice Team through performance monitoring and monthly review.
• Using a standard Groundwork Federation GHG Inventory Tool for emission reporting develop, deliver and monitor our annual carbon reduction plan, working with business managers to ensure data is recoded correctly and improvements to our carbon footprint are made.
• Facilitate the renewal of the Green Dragon accreditation, implementing and managing our internal environment systems and processes up to a level 3 standard.
• Arrange and carry out home visits to support residents in reducing their carbon emissions and to save money by lowering the level of consumption and cost of energy.
• Advocate and liaise for householders with energy companies and gas and electric network providers to ensure customers receive the best possible deal for their requirements.
• Work with referral partners to identify vulnerable households, and evidence eligibility to provide support with energy advice and administer emergency fuel vouchers.
• Provide effective support, both advisory and practical, to enable people to make positive changes to their behaviour and to improve the quality of their lives; record actions and highlight the importance of keeping warm to the health and wellbeing of residents.
• Assist residents to access other relevant and complementary services and agencies, liaising with other agencies to assist residents to access funding and support to deliver larger energy efficiency measures.
• Liaise with residents on a day-to-day basis in a professional and friendly manner and build good working relationships with them either face to face or through the provision of telephone advice.
• Oversee the booking and scheduling of visits and respond to referrals from funders in a timely manner.
• Oversee the ordering of stock, ensuring stock levels are maintained and stock is monitored closely.
• Undertake monitoring information and reporting requirements as required by the Trust and funders, ensuring all the funders’ requirements are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.

We are seeking a coordinator for our educational mentoring programme for young refugees and asylum seekers. The coordinator will oversee our North London mentoring hub by recruiting and training volunteer mentors and matching them to young people needing additional educational support.

The FA is looking for a Safeguarding Manager to join on a 12 month fixed term contract, to work as part of the Strategic Safeguarding Team developing policy, procedures, standards, guidance, education and resources to support fun, inclusive and safe football environments, specifically across the Women's Player Pathway including Professional Game Academies.

What will you be doing?

• Drive operating standards in the women's football pyramid and talent pathway, embedding safeguards in licence agreements and regulations, ensuring compliance monitoring is owned at club and league level, working closely with colleagues within the Womens National League and Professional Game Academies (PGA's), and the Safeguarding and Welfare Manager within the Professional Womens Leagues - NewCo, to ensure alignment where appropriate.
• Further develop the approach to audit and compliance and support the process to audit the safeguarding provision and support colleagues and clubs to implement the required safeguards across the women's football pyramid, talent and player pathway, including PGA's.
• Continue to identify and support the learning and development needs of football's Designated Safeguarding Officers/Club Welfare Officers across the women's football pyramid, the talent and player pathway, including PGA's delivering training and briefings as needed.
• Develop and deliver safeguarding and welfare training to specific relevant FA staff, consultants and volunteers, communicating effectively safeguarding policy and procedures, and emphasising the process for reporting concerns.
• Provide support as needed in the management of safeguarding and wellbeing concerns, ensuring appropriate records are maintained, overseeing all referrals to The FA's Case Management and Integrity teams and statutory agencies as required, implementing learning from incidents and referrals.
• Support the development of safer event and match/tournament delivery processes across the women's football pyramid, talent and player pathway.
• Support the development and delivery of research and insight projects across the women's game and support the delivery of actions to develop a safer culture.
• Support the development and implementation of The FA's Safeguarding Policy, including developing new guidance.
• Identify and develop any specific resources and materials to support safeguarding and wellbeing for player and parent education, including bespoke messaging about relationships of trust in the leagues, clubs and talent pathway.
• Support the embedding of safeguards in the open age game, including in the women's football pyramid, supporting alignment where relevant with the men's National League System.
• Ensure complaints relating to safeguarding matters are addressed, and that complainants are updated throughout the process and/or are signposted to relevant sources of support.
• Attend relevant internal meetings and regularly report updates to relevant Managers, Project Groups and Boards.
• Be an influential advocate for safeguarding and player wellbeing, promoting, communication and representing this work effectively internally and externally.
• Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.

• Handle email and SMS correspondence with clients relating to their counselling.

• Match clients with counsellors with the support of the Service Manager.
• Send all pre- and post-counselling information to clients.

• Collate data relating to service activity on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Attend and participate in regular team meetings.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation by identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems.

We're looking for someone with experience of working in an adminstrative and client-facing role, ideally in a mental health and/or counselling setting. Above all, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, including a warm, empathetic manner on the telephone and in writing; a high level of organisation and attention to detail; confidence in using digital platforms like HubSpot; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Training will be given to the right candidates.
