The Catalyst Collective is an innovative and rapidly growing non-profit organisation. Since our pilot programme launched in January 2021, we have expanded significantly. As we enter our fourth year of operation, we are seeking an organised and proactive Programme Manager to play a pivotal role in driving our growth and ensuring the successful delivery of our mentoring programmes.

The Programme Manager will work closely with the Programme Director to lead and manage key components of our mentoring programme. This includes building strong relationships with mentors, mentees, and partner schools, as well as coordinating training, enrichment activities, and programme delivery. Key Responsibilities: 

Mentee Recruitment and Induction

• Work closely with partner schools to finalise mentee cohorts.
• Visit schools to deliver induction sessions familiarising mentees with the programme.
• Lead mentor-matching sessions with support from Mentoring Coordinators.

Mentor Training and Onboarding

• Develop and deliver training sessions for mentors.
• Collaborate with the Recruitment Coordinator to ensure a diverse mentor pool.
• Support mentors to maximise the impact of their relationships.

Mentor Coordination

• Support a cohort of up to 30 mentoring pairs.
• Conduct monthly check-ins with each mentor.
• Facilitate mid and end-of-year reviews for mentoring pairs.

Enrichment Delivery and Planning

• Plan and deliver enrichment activities like career trips and work experience days.
• Evaluate the impact of enrichment activities and gather feedback.
• Collaborate with partners and vendors for enrichment events.

School Liaison

• Serve as the primary contact for partner schools.
• Regularly update schools on programme developments and mentee progress.

Safeguarding

• Act as a point of contact for safeguarding matters.
• Maintain accurate safeguarding records and ensure confidentiality.

Communications

• Produce a monthly mentor newsletter.
• Contribute to social media content.

Reporting

• Support the Programme Director in preparing updates for the Advisory Board and funders.
• Produce the End-of-year report showcasing the programme’s achievements.

Administration

• Review and approve in-person mentoring meeting requests.
• Conduct risk assessments.

Staff Management

• Line manage Mentoring Coordinators and the Programme Assistant.
• Provide task management to other team members as required.

Person Specification:

Essential Experience and Skills

• Proven experience in programme management, education, charity work, or volunteering.

This role will involve working with, schools and corporate partners to ensure that we deliver impact for the girls and young women we serve.

WHAT WE DO

Young people from lower income families are 40% less likely to go to University than wealthier peers (Dept for Education, 2020) which can have a lifelong impact on earning potential. Covid-19 has deepened inequalities (Social Mobility Foundation, 2022) and negatively impacted on young people's wellbeing (GirlGuiding, 2020). We believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.

We work in communities of least advantage across England to deliver two core programmes to achieve this vision. Through our mentoring programme we connect 14-19 year old girls with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women and deliver opportunities which help them to build life skills and nurture their ambitions. Based on the idea that 'you can't be what you can't see', our mentors often help girls to broaden their horizons and create a more positive vision of their futures. After the programme, the mentees can join a free, lifelong network of support - our Ambassador Community, which offers further opportunities to reach their goals, build their confidence and to share their voices and experiences.

Our programmes help girls and young women to develop the knowledge, skills, self-belief and opportunities to thrive, and to be supported as part of a network that champions them and ensures their voices are heard.

THE ROLE

This is an exciting role joining a Programme Team of 13 staff based throughout the UK. There is a small team of three based in the London. You will work closely and collaborate with the other Network Managers and share some priorities across the region, working to develop the region as a whole. The purpose of this role is to facilitate good relationships between the mentors and mentees in the region. 70-80% of the role is about relationship building (with schools, mentors and partners), coordination and the tracking/ administration of those relationships. 15-20% of the role is direct delivery with the girls in the region. You will play a crucial role setting up our 121 mentoring programmes, liaising with schools, recruiting mentors and ensuring that we have the right mentors for the mentees on programme. You will also deliver our workshop programme within the area.

Mentoring programme

• Manage overall success of the cohorts (groups of mentees and mentors) in your region, including coordinating and administering events and communications for cohorts in your area.
• Deliver engaging on-boarding sessions for mentees.
• Deliver events and workshops for mentees.
• Deliver matching of mentees and mentors at in-person events or virtually.
• Work with the wider programme team to train mentors.
• Support mentors once matched through regular check-ins, monthly emails and ad-hoc conversations.
• Collect data to track the progress, and impact of, mentoring relationships.

Reporting to: Head of Corporate Partnerships

Location of work: Home-based with approximately one or two office days per month and travel for team days and events. The role may involve some irregular travel throughout England and Scotland. Expenses will be paid in line with our Travel and Expenses policy.

JOB PURPOSE  

As part of the Corporate Partnerships team in the Fundraising and Development directorate, Partnership Development is responsible for leading on securing new, high-value, strategic partnerships to support our vision of ensuring that no child or young person is too hungry to learn now and for good.

As the Partnership Development Lead, you will be responsible for spearheading the development and delivery of the new business strategy, as well as working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to pull together and deliver compelling proposals and pitches. The role will line manage the Senior Partnership Development Manager and Partnership Development Manager, working together to achieve the goals and priorities of the team. You will also create, embed and monitor key new business processes such as pipeline management, income forecasting and reporting, and work with the wider Fundraising team to deliver our fundraising strategy. 

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

• Lead on the development and delivery of the team’s new business strategy. 

• Keep abreast of restricted and unrestricted funding needs, including our Gift in Kind requirements, managing the process to keep this up to date and building the team’s pipeline to meet these needs

• Use Sales Force to capture and analyse key new business data and KPIs and use insight to inform new business activity.

• Ensure the smooth transition of prospects to a) Partnership Managers, where appropriate working with prospective partners to agree partnership vision, objectives and KPIs in collaboration with them or b) small corporate team. 

• Engage relevant internal colleagues across Policy & Engagement, Finance & Performance and Service Delivery to feed into the partnership development process.

• Support Head of Corporate Partnerships in accurately forecasting new business income for each financial year, and ensure forecast income is updated monthly.

• Ensure all new partnerships have appropriate contractual agreements in place with logo license fees included where appropriate.

• Good working knowledge of best practice new business cultivation processes from identifying to securing new partners through experience gained in charity or corporate sector.

About the role

This is a demanding and exciting role for a multi-skilled individual looking to gain experience in programme and people management. You will be joining a small, but dedicated team in a fun and friendly environment where we work hard to support one another and all our beneficiaries.

In this role you will be responsible for taking a group of schools, their pupils and volunteer tutors through the programme from start to finish, and for ensuring the programme genuinely makes a difference to those participating.

Programme Managers will manage school sessions in person in schools (which usually take place each afternoon) and will work remotely from home otherwise, with regularly scheduled in-person teamwork days at a convenient location. We are a flexible working employer.

We are seeking someone with experience in youth work or classroom teaching, high expectations and attention to detail. About the opportunity 

Critical to our mission, we are looking to recruit a London Programme Manager to be responsible for a geographical area and the schools within it, whilst supporting geographical expansion. You will oversee your region’s Action Tutoring programmes, liaising with our partner schools and developing new school partnerships, whilst supporting your team of Programme Coordinators to engage pupils and support them to build relationships with stakeholders and retain a strong pool of tutors.

As a Programme Manager, you will line manage up to seven Programme Coordinators to ensure they effectively manage their caseload of schools, whilst driving the quality of programmes and ensuring that the delivery of programmes meets organisational KPIs. This role will take a lead on new school recruitment, regularly pitching to Senior Leaders within schools and managing school partnerships within your region to ensure Action Tutoring’s growth targets are met. Additionally, you will contribute to the wider leadership of the Action Tutoring programme team, lead on programme-specific projects to support the programme department’s priorities and will be expected to support the wider learning and development needs of the Programme Coordinator team.

The position would suit someone who enjoys working with people who have a frontline role, gets energy from pitching to schools and wants to increase their management experience in an exciting and rapidly developing charity. The successful candidate should be able to manage their own workload to a high standard as well as support others, have excellent attention to detail, be adaptable, relational and used to problem-solving, and be able to work well with a range of
stakeholders and be confident in carrying out administrative tasks to support programme delivery.

Comprehensive induction and training will be provided. Action Tutoring is committed to providing development opportunities for its staff and, as a growing charity, there are plenty of opportunities to take on new areas of responsibility.

Action for Conservation is a grassroots charity using pioneering approaches to inspire and empower young people from diverse backgrounds, between the ages of 12 and 24, to become the next generation of environmental leaders. We're looking to appoint a Senior Programmes Manager - North West (Maternity cover) to help us shape and manage our programmes for young people nationally and lead our work in the North West.
 

Key terms

Start date: as soon as possible
Starting salary: £36,749.45 - £40,773.98 depending on location and experience
Contract: Fixed-term for 12 months, with possibility to extend this if needed

As Senior Programme Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape our work nationally as well as lead our programmes in the North West of England, enabling us to grow our reach, deepen our impact and ultimately deliver our mission. Your work will ensure that across our programmes we offer young people meaningful and impactful opportunities to take action for people and the planet and have a voice in shaping the future of our landscapes. 

You will work closely with and report to the Head of Impact and Programme Operations. You will also line manage the other regional Programme Managers and a team of two Programme Coordinators in the North West, and will collaborate with the Land-Based Projects and Policy Lead and the Land-based Project Coordinator at the intersection of our youth programmes and land-based work.

With support from your manager and in consultation with the other regional Programme Managers, you will translate our annual programme strategy into a robust cross-regional implementation plan covering both programme design and operations and make tangible improvements to enhance efficiency and impact across our regions. You will also be responsible for ensuring that our programmes are delivered as planned, to a high standard in line with best practice and cohesively across regions, and that regional objectives and targets in the North West are achieved.

The ideal candidate will be a highly capable and experienced project/programmes manager and team leader with a proven track record of motivating and supporting others to achieve the best possible outcomes for your team and your programmes. 

Key responsibilities

• Lead Action for Conservation’s work in the North West, ensuring that regional targets and objectives are achieved and supporting the expansion of our programmes and projects in line with our organisational strategy.

• Support the cross-regional planning and management of our programmes to ensure that programmes are delivered on time and to budget, to a high standard and cohesively across regions. 

• Line manage the other regional Programme Manager and the North West Programme Coordinators, providing leadership, guidance and support as needed.

Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 137 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and children and families’ projects. The role

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

• Strategic development and oversight of community programmes for children, adults and across multiple generations

• Leadership and line management of team; oversight of sessional facilitators and contractors used by team

Role Description

Veganuary is recruiting a part-time HR Manager who will work to manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our International operation. This standalone HR position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will manage and continue to develop all HR practices and processes ensuring compliance with local labour laws and regulations across the countries that Veganuary operates in. This role is crucial in ensuring the organisation attracts, recruits and develops high performing team members. The HR Manager will work closely with the wider Operations team to ensure the efficient, supportive, and compliant culture of Veganuary. 

Whilst we would love someone with experience of working as an HR Manager across an International team, we recognise that some elements of the role can be learned. Therefore, this role could suit someone who has solid HR experience at a lower level but who is proactive, self-suffice and with great employment law experience.

Core Responsibilities

Recruitment

• Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, contacting candidates, arranging interviews and onboarding
• Coach and support hiring managers with recruitment processes, screening and onboarding, ensuring compliance with international labour laws

Role overview

The Senior Programme Manager will lead our delivery team and work closely with the Partnership Manager to ensure that we’re designing and delivering mentoring projects that meet our partner objectives. The postholder will line-manage key staff in the delivery team, delegate programme activity and oversee quality across our portfolio. The postholder will be accountable for engagement across our portfolio and for ensuring we meet targets and key performance indicators set by our partners for project outcomes.

The postholder will also lead the delivery of Brightside Mentoring, our London based mentoring project that’s currently funded until 31 December 2025. This will involve leading the ongoing design of the project as we learn from each cohort, recruiting young people to take part from across our London networks and reporting to the funder on project progress. Our ideal candidate will therefore be based in or around London, as frequent travel will be required.

Responsible for (our partner portfolio)

• Overseeing project deliverables across our portfolio, ensuring tasks are delegated across the team and that deadlines are met
• Chairing weekly delivery team meetings to stay on top of project launches, delivery updates and upcoming evaluations

ABOUT THE ROLE

People who work in operations have a multiplier effect, increasing the efficiency of their colleagues within the organisation by constructing processes that ensure the organisation operates smoothly and at top capacity. An excellent and more succinct description of operations management as a field comes from Gabrielle Zevin’s Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow:

Though it took Sadie years to admit this to Sam, Marx did prove incredibly useful that summer. No, Marx wasn’t a game designer. He wasn’t an ace programmer, like Sadie, and he couldn’t draw, like Sam. The Operations team provides operational support to AIM (e.g., human resource management, finance, productivity). The team also supports our incubated charities, assisting with their initial set-up after the program so they can hit the ground running, as well as ongoing ad-hoc requests and advice as needed. Added to this, Operations supports other participants in programs run by AIM(e.g., people completing fellowships with our research team). While this is less than for the Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program, it increases as these programs mature. 

Our Operations team currently consists of ~2.8 FTE – our Chief Operating Officer (previous Managing Director and CTO of Founders Pledge), our Director of Operations (with a mixed background in legal services, management consulting, and scale-up operations), and a Senior Operations Manager (with a background in risk and security management in low- and middle-income countries). The team also relies on external contractors for some of its functions (e.g., bookkeeping, legal advice).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The exact % split might vary throughout 2025 depending on AIM’s program strategy and number of programs after our yearly evaluation

Employee experience 

• Supporting the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems

• For our London office and residential accommodation, we are managing an external service provider tasked with the regular upkeep and operation of these facilities. There is some chance that the functions performed by this external service provider are brought in-house, but at the moment we expect this function to remain outsourced and for the Operations Manager to play an overseeing role.

• We believe that the above describes the key buckets, but in essence, the Operations team tends to step in and be needed wherever their help is cost-effective to solve or prevent problems

• As an entry-level role, you’d have the opportunity to advance to Senior Operations Manager and eventually Director of Operations (although the latter would depend on a vacancy being available)

EXAMPLE OF THE WORK YOU'LL BE DOING

• After an initial brief, independently organise the entire lifecycle of an event at our office expecting between ~15-50 people to attend. You would know the goal of the event, some parameters like the budget, and would have some light assistance from other staff or external partners with whom we’re co-hosting the event.

• Effectively acting as an office manager/all-rounder for AIM’s London office. This means overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure smooth functioning, including managing office supplies, coordinating with service providers and contractors, and promptly triaging and resolving issues as they arise. Additionally, it means implementing and improving office policies, such as policies around hotdesking, inviting and vetting guests, meeting room usage, etc. 

• After supporting another department with their work, you realise that a series of manual steps they take could be made much more efficient by creating an automated workflow using Airtable and Zapier. You follow a user-centred design process to collect information about requirements, must-haves and nice-to-haves and then build a prototype to later test and refine. 

• Entirely oversee our managed accommodation for staff and program participants, responding to booking requests and changes, ensuring seamless check-in and check-out procedures, and promptly responding to requests or issues. 

• Knowing AIM’s internal policies and ensuring they’re being followed. For example, reviewing expenditure at the end of the month and checking adherence to our Financial Controls Policy, touching base with staff to check whether they have a professional development plan in place.

ABOUT YOU

This role will likely suit an early to mid-level operations generalist, but we’re also very interested in hearing from more senior operations specialists as there is room for future growth in responsibilities within the organisation depending on competency and expertise. We would also be keen for talented recent graduates applying for this position as many areas of responsibility can be learned by a quick learner fairly fast.

• Has had positive past experiences testing aspects of this role before (e.g., maybe they have organised an event from scratch before and both enjoyed it and had positive results)

• Is thinking of their career trajectory as in operations management or closely related fields rather than as a stepping stone to a different career

• Is generally tech-savvy and, for example, defaults to a spreadsheet or finds appropriate tools when trying to solve a problem

Desirable specific skills and areas of experience include: 

• Previous experience using Google Workspace suite of apps (i.e. Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides)

• Previous experience or willingness to learn how to use Slack, Asana, Airtable and Zapier

• Comfort working in a start-up environment. This means:

  • Wearing multiple hats: Ability to take on diverse tasks beyond a single job description.

  • Adaptability to change: Thrives in a fast-paced setting where priorities can shift rapidly, and new challenges arise unexpectedly.

  • Comfort with ambiguity: Operates effectively without always having clear guidelines or established processes, using creativity and resourcefulness.

  • Team collaboration: Works closely with a small team, where collaboration and communication are key to success.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Our application processes aim to be highly predictive, time-effective, and informative for you. Our process consists only of stages that our best evidence suggests are predictive of success on the job (such as test tasks) rather than more common but less predictive stages (such as cover letters). We only invite candidates to the next stage if we think they have a good chance of passing it, and take care to choose tasks and interview questions that will also give you a good sense of the role and our culture.

Applicants will be asked to complete the following stages:

1. Submitting our general application form (30 minutes to 1 hour),

2. A general test task (2-3 hours) with the top 10 to 30 candidates,

3. An initial interview (15 minutes) with the top 10-20 candidates,

4. A test task simulating the work you would do in your role (2-3 hours) with the top 5-15 candidates,

5. A final, more in-depth interview (~60 minutes) with the final 2-5 candidates.

We will also conduct a reference check before making an offer. Each stage typically takes 1-2 weeks from the end of the application deadline, and we hope to make an offer within ~8 weeks of the application deadline. Ideally, the candidate will begin onboarding as soon as possible after an offer is made. We strongly prefer candidates to join the team by January 2025, but we would consider a different date for an ideal candidate.
