People’s Economy aims to build the agency and power of people facing injustice and working for social change so that they have the expertise, capabilities and resources to develop their own analysis of how the economic system is a root cause of the injustice they face, develop strategies to change it and then take action with others. We are looking for people who are: passionate about addressing economic injustice, hold a deep knowledge and connection to Birmingham and are capable of working with and supporting changemakers and community groups across the city.​

We have worked in Birmingham for five years and the need and urgency for our work is greater than ever, with the many live grassroots campaigns across Birmingham mobilising people to come together to save libraries, youth services and social housing. We know that a shared root cause of all of these crises is the city’s economic system. 

This role leads our work across Birmingham to help build our collective capacity to analyse, strategise and take action for economic system change in the city. It will coordinate our Programme team to deliver different initiatives that support a growing movement for economic justice across the city - particularly focused on building support and engagement amongst grassroots changemakers and communities experiencing economic injustice. It will manage projects and resources, conduct programme development and delivery, oversee outreach and partnerships, changemaker recruitment and contribute to fundraising - ultimately play a key role in shaping our regional impact. This position is crucial in coordinating our work across Birmingham and driving meaningful collaboration with local and national stakeholders, in particular working collaboratively with Economic Justice Brum, a long term initiative working on local economic systems change.

Job Description

Birmingham Programme Development

• Working closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team, lead the translation of People’s Economy’s strategy into a programme of work in Birmingham
• Working closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team, identify the resources People’s Economy needs to deliver its strategy in Birmingham and contribute to fundraising for the organisation’s programme of work in Birmingham
• Working closely with Programme Director lead outreach and relationship building with community and civil society partners, including members of the Economic Justice Brum
• Working closely with the Head of Community, lead the development of People’s Economy’s programme of outreach and relationship building with changemakers in Birmingham including current grassroots campaigns such as Save Birmingham, Save Birmingham Youth Service (SBYS), Ladywood Unite, Save Druids Heath and the Birmingham Fair Housing Campaign.

Birmingham Programme Delivery

• Working closely with the Programme Team, coordinate the delivery of People’s Economy’s programme of work in Birmingham and ensure it is well embedded, integrated and supportive in the local economic justice landscape
• Play a leading role in our collaborative work with Economic Justice Brum ensuring consistent coordination, support and relational working
• Lead our work on developing and delivering a creative communications plan for Economic Justice Brum, as People’s Economy is its appointed communications partner
• Lead on organising the logistics and resources required to effectively deliver People’s Economy’s programme of work in Birmingham 
• Working closely with the Programme Team, coordinate the monitoring, evaluation and learning of People’s Economy’s programme of work in Birmingham
• Working closely with the Programme Team, recruit and onboard changemakers from Birmingham to opportunities within People’s Economy’s training and support programmes
• With support from the Head of Training, contribute to the delivery of learning and skills sessions when appropriate
• Facilitate spaces and workshops for our changemakers, partners and other stakeholders

We are looking for a Finance and Operations Officer to help support our growing team. The Finance and Operations Officer will provide general support to the Head of Finance and Operations across the following areas: 

Office Management

• Managing day-to-day relationship with landlord

• Ensuring office meets all health & safety requirements

• Managing purchases of stationery and office equipment 

• Booking meeting rooms

• Organising catering for internal meetings 

• Supporting with new office search and move to new premises

• Liaising with utility, cleaning and security providers in new premises if required

Human Resources

• Liaising with the external HR providers regarding employee documents

• Maintaining  employee personnel records ensuring that all annual leave and sick leave is recorded correctly

• Assisting in the recruitment of new posts

• Onboarding and welcoming new employees, including ensuring newcomers have the necessary IT and office equipment and access to the required IT systems 

• Coordinate annual staff surveys and collate responses

Operations

• Assisting the CEO and the wider team with administrative tasks

• Liaising with our external IT providers to ensuring all IT equipment is functioning and replaced when required

• Organising away days and other large meetings 

• Reviewing/renewing supplier contracts annually (including insurance provider)

Governance

• Organising Trustee meetings 

• Attending and taking notes at specific meetings (e.g. Trustee, Advisory Board, team away days)

• Updating the Charity Commission for changes in Trustees and submission of annual returns 

• Ensuring all policy documents are up to date and reviewed within the correct time frame 

Finance

• Processing invoices and expenses and coordinating twice monthly payment runs

• Reconciliation of the monthly corporate card bills

• Keeping the fixed asset register up-to-date

• Bank account administration 

• Collation of information for the auditors

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following skills and experiences:

Terms and Conditions

• Location: Money and Mental Health’s central London office for at least 2 days per week with option for home working the rest of the time. The office is wheelchair accessible.

• Hours: 3 to 4 days (22.5 to 30 hours) a week. The charity has a flexible working policy with core hours of 10am - 3pm and remaining contracted hours distributed throughout the week flexibly. We are open to discussing other flexible arrangements, such as accommodating school runs.

• Holidays: 28 days p.a. (including 3 days of annual leave between Christmas and New Year when the office is closed) plus bank holidays, adjusted for the part-time nature of this post and therefore calculated on a pro rata basis.

General Statement of Duties:

To significantly increase the hospital’s voluntary income (primarily unrestricted) through the development and management of mid-value fundraising appeals, stewarding mid-level donors, regular donors, and fundraising committees with some event support.

The success of this role will be dependent on developing excellent relationships with our fundraising committees and regular donors. This role will work in conjunction with a small, dedicated team in London to provide fundraising, communications, and events support to two dedicated community fundraising groups.

Key Criteria for success:

· Develop excellent working relationships with Hospital’s fundraising committees, and in-aid of supporters.

· Represent SJEHG externally at community events, St John activities, and committee organised events.

Main responsibilities:

· Manage the key relationships with the Guild fundraising committee and the SOA fundraising committee including communication, administration, and event support. One day per week will be set aside by the post holder to conduct and manage Guild responsibilities and tasks.

· Manage the key relationship with the Knights Templar sub-groups, and the County Priory Groups across the UK.

· Represent SJEHG externally at community events and in aid of fundraising activities.

· Establish and manage excellent client care for all relevant donors. Ensure that timely, effective, appropriate acknowledgement and recognition of gifts are provided to the donors.

· To be responsible for ensuring electronic records are up-to-date and accurate.

· To devise, implement and manage an effective regular giving strategy, under the supervision of the Executive Head of UK Office, with the aim of growing regular giving income, and undertake monitoring and evaluation.

· To steward the mid-level donors (£500 to £4999), ensuring the highest possible levels of donor care.

· To work in partnership with colleagues to identify individual donors that could be cultivated and moved to the major gift team.

· Assist colleagues with the content for the Jerusalem Scene newsletter

· To work under the supervision of the Executive Head of UK Office to develop appropriate income targets and expenditure budgets relating to committees, individual donors, and appeals.

· Manage Shopify store online and Merchandise management. Fulfilling orders and using the opportunity to steward donors.

· Thanking and stewarding donors within the remit (under £10,000).

Dementia Carers Count has an exciting opportunity for a remote role as our Communications & Digital Engagement Officer within our comms & growth team to help raise awareness of DCC.

Job Title: Communications & Digital Engagement Officer

To support and deliver effective communications, including marketing and digital engagement activities, which raise awareness of Dementia Carers Count and foster connections with our community of carers, campaigners and donors. Your work will help us reach and support more carers, raise funds and campaign for changes which will ensure that no dementia carer feels isolated, invisible or alone.

Key responsibilities   

•Understand our cause, linked issues, and how these are publicly perceived 

•Horizon scan to spot social and news trends as well as potential influencer targets 

•Manage our social platforms, keeping abreast of media and public zeitgeist about our cause and related issues. You will design and deliver paid advertising campaigns and monitor, respond, share, engage, comment on posts, according to our guidelines and with responsibility for reputation management 

•Share audience insights with colleagues to ensure effective stewardship of all our defined audiences 

•Support development of media relationships. You will curate press and media lists and respond to media queries, with shared out of hours responsibility.

Due to internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer known to Guide Dogs as an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our Finance Team on a FTC basis until the end of June 2025.

What the job involves

The Policy and Health Influencing teams are responsible for using clinical data and evidence to shape what the organisation thinks and to develop solutions that drive change for men with and at risk of prostate cancer. This means working with clinicians, patients and stakeholders to interpret the latest changes in prostate cancer research, care, support and treatment which will help shape our strategic direction and activities. 

We’re looking for a Senior Policy Officer to join us on a fixed term basis for 12 months. Your role in the team will be to support the organisation by pinpointing the health policy and practice changes that will give men access to the best diagnosis, treatment and support.

You’ll develop evidence-based and patient-experience-informed policy positions that support the delivery of our strategic direction. You’ll horizon scan to identify relevant external health policy developments across the four UK nations and advise and support teams around the organisation with information on external policy developments, identifying routes to achieve change.

Additionally, you'll produce evidence-led policy reports and briefings, advising teams on external policy developments and identifying opportunities for change.

We’re seeking a skilled policy professional with experience in developing evidence-based policies and positions. You'll understand the importance of using evidence to create strong, reliable policies and have some knowledge of various research methodologies.

With a solid grasp of research methods, you'll be able to simplify complex clinical research into clear, accessible terms. Your ability to influence others will be crucial for representing our organisation externally and ensuring timely approval of new treatments, including contributing to NICE/SMC consultations.

We’re looking for an experienced Social Media Officer to support our team campaigning to stop the development of new oil and gas fields and for a rapid and fast phase out of oil & gas in the UK through a just transition.

About us

Uplift is a campaigning and research organisation which supports efforts to create a rapid and fair transition away from oil and gas production in the UK. We have coordinated and implemented major successful campaigns and developed cutting-edge campaign, communications and research tactics. We have grown rapidly as an organisation over the last three years and are now looking for a Social Media Officer.

The Role

Core responsibilities will include: 

• Maintaining and implementing content plan for social media channels (primarily Instagram, X, Tiktok and Facebook) including drafting copy, creating content and ensure consistent posting for all channels with the guidance of Digital campaigner/Digital Campaign Lead and campaign team
• Producing a range of daily digital content for Uplift’s social media channels - from simple social-first graphic design, to lo-fi effective social video content
• Working in collaboration with other creatives - ie graphic designers, video producers, creators and influencers - for additional campaign assets
• Creating reactive content and messaging to respond to current events, helping Uplift maximise opportunities for engagement and growth using the news cycle
• Community management across the various campaign channels
• Developing social media toolkits and coordinating with partners around big mobilisations
• Analysing the performance of social media outputs and their contribution towards the wider campaign, and making recommendations on how to improve
• Managing the distribution of key pieces of social media content to relevant stakeholders to increase online amplification (partners, groups and pages)
• Supporting the campaign team on other digital tasks as required: ie  maintaining campaign websites, digital action tools, online databases and email inbox

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Safeguarding professional, with a strong interest in protecting adults at risk and children from harm, within the wider Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Community?

Based within our Helpline Services team, you’ll have responsibility for:

• Responding to concerns reported by staff and volunteers

We are looking for a Finance Officer to join our Finance team at Samaritans. As Finance Officer, you’ll support the Branch Finance function and branch treasurers, in particular leading the annual Central Charity contribution (‘New Branch Contribution’/NBC) process with affiliate branches and handling administrative tasks on branch banking.

Job Title: Finance Officer
Reporting to: HQ Finance Manager
Hours: 37.5 per week

Strong finance functions underpin everything that we want to achieve as an organisation and this role is a vital part of this.

Role Purpose:

This role is a key member of the busy HQ finance function. The role is primarily focused on HQ finances and will also work with the colleagues across our global finance team. The role offers the chance to work across a number of finance functions, including: management accounting, supporting year end audit, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and working on some of the subsidiary charities; and so it provides a great opportunity to experience the full breadth of finance work in a charity across all functions in a varied and interesting role.

It is essential that the applicant can juggle the complexities of a busy role with has varied work priorities. Key stakeholders are the HQ Finance Manager, Finance Director and the HQ based fundraising team. The role works alongside the Finance Assistant and plays a role in oversight and coaching of this role. Street Child is implementing a new CRM system and this role will feed into the development of new processes and procedures and use both the CRM and finance system and ensure full reconciliation and data trail between the two systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1) (40%) Deliver all functions related to Accounts Receivable and CRM:

• Ensure that all income from a variety of different sources is correctly and accurately recorded in the finance system and CRM (which is under development) on a weekly basis.
• Supporting with work on accounts receivable including accessing, downloading and saving in a systematic manner reports from donor portals, bank account and other sources.
• Working with colleagues in Fundraising to analyse and code income reports in Excel and uploading it to the Finance system on a timely basis, at least weekly. Following up on how to code any income which is not allocated to a source.
• Working closely with colleagues in Fundraising to ensure prompt collection of outstanding balances from customers, and sending out monthly debtor balance statements.
• Raising donor invoices and requests for payments, and issuing donor receipts.
• Income and customer account reconciliations and revaluations.
• Any other responsibilities relating to Accounts Receivable.

2) (40%) Month end reporting and reconciliation and subsidiary accounts:

• Complete all balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and petty cash reconciliations and submit for approval by HQ Finance Manager.
• Once CRM system is in place, undertake reconciliation processes between finance data and CRM data.
• Carry out monthly revaluations of bank accounts.
• Ensuring supporting information for transactions is correctly stored in electronic format on Teams such as bank statements, remittance advices, credit statements.
• Assist in preparation of internal reports, including working with Operations Department and Finance department to review their monthly reports.
• Take responsibility to deliver the management accounts of two subsidiary companies: Children in Crisis and HQ transactions of Africa Educational Trust.
• Compile information for Gift Aid returns.
• General support and assistance to the team including administrative duties and managing the office post.
• Other ad hoc support to the wider operations team as may be required.
• Audit: support with the year end audit and provision of supporting information to auditors.

3) (20%) Lead the Accounts Payable process:

• Whilst the Finance Assistant is responsible for all payments, the Finance Officer has a lead role in ensuring that all invoices are paid on time, in an efficient manner and that the finance system reflects the transactions within the correct accounting period and correctly coded in the system – including account code, cost centre, project code and donor code.
• Determine most efficient payment platform to process international payments, and ensure that recorded in the finance system at the correct conversion rate.
• Be a point of contact with the Foreign exchange agents to quickly resolve any questions.
• Work with the Finance Assistant to ensure accurate and timely recording of all approved supplier invoices, requisitions, staff expenses and other expenditure in the accounting system and that all supporting documentation for all transactions are uploaded.
• Ensuring that there are at least two payment runs a week and additional runs as required; overseeing the process to ensure that all invoices for payment are correctly approved by the budget holder, setting up payments on online banking platforms and sending out requests for payment approvals to payment authorisers and verifying that all payments are fully approved in the banking platforms by the deadline set. Providing cover to set up payments when the Finance Assistant is not available.
• Managing monthly staff credit card reconciliations and ensure that these are returned on time with all receipts and invoices and checking and reviewing classifications, with follow up as required.
• Carry out monthly Creditor account reconciliations ensuring that all balances are valid and backed up with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Fully deliver the set up all payroll payments in time for the monthly pay day. This involves ensuring correct amount and currency of payment (which may differ from the salary of the individual’s employment contract) and method of payment across all HQ staff.
• Any other responsibilities from time to time.

We are looking for a part time Supporter Data Officer for a wonderful local hospice, to support the delivery of the Hospice's supporter data and income operations strategy with a focus on data selections and insight.

This role is part time 22.5 hours per week - no set working pattern for these as long as worked in the usual Mon-Fri, 9-5 working week.

With hybrid working their policy is a max of 1 days per week of discretionary home working, this would be on a pro rota basis for team members who work fewer than 5 days in the office, so they could consider flexibility in line with this, also bearing in mind business need and the needs of the team on any given week.
