Sussex Community Foundation is seeking a Grants Officer to work closely with the Head of Grants Programmes and wider team to support the management of the Chagossian Fund, one of the additional programmes managed by the Foundation and funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

Working in close partnership with FCDO and other local partners, you will ensure that the programme provides efficient and effective grant making support to meet the needs of Chagossian people living in Sussex.

The Sussex Community Foundation office is based in Lewes and there is regular travel to Crawley with the possibility of office space there.
Staff are working on a hybrid basis, attending the office 2-3 days per week.

The Night Shelter Manager is responsible for the following:

• The day-to-day operation and management of nights shelters in West and Southwest London. Maintaining a friendly, supportive environment and cultivating positive relationships with guests, colleagues and volunteers.
• Welcoming and inducting new guests into the shelter by explaining the shelter policies.
• Supporting volunteer teams at each venue to ensure the smooth running of the project and developing good communication with the Volunteer Co-ordinators.
• Diffusing difficult or dangerous situations and summon assistance when necessary. Training will be provided.
• Ensuring cleaning protocols are implemented by all staff, guests and volunteers.
• Maintaining guest attendance records and shift reports on our iPad-based In-From client relationship platform.
• Following best practice procedures for the security and safety of the guests and volunteers.
• Monitoring guest welfare throughout the shift and responding to any situations or emergencies that arise. Adhering to Glass Door’s operational and health & safety policies in all aspects of your work.
• Maintaining clear lines of communication with your colleagues including Overnight Project Workers, Caseworkers and Operations Manager.
• Conducting a nightly briefing for volunteers and staff before the shelter opens to guests.
• Undertaking any other duties to aid the good running of the project, as required by the Operations Manager. Attending regular meetings with caseworkers to share any relevant information including guest welfare, interactions and other important information.
• Attending 1 to 1 sessions with the Operations Manager on a fortnightly basis.
• Attending the monthly winter services meetings held on Wednesday afternoons
• Accurately reporting observations, interactions, concerns and actions with guests to their caseworker using written reports.
• Ensuring the shelter van is kept well organised and stocks are well maintained.
• Supporting casework team with practical tasks related to guests’ day-to-day activities as requested.
• Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota that includes weekends and public holidays
• You will also be expected to attend other training sessions, team meetings and other activities as required.

Essential

•  Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive the shelter van.

CHT

CHT is a mental health charity that provides seven rehabilitative residential communities in London and Sussex for people experiencing severe mental health difficulties, and training in the field of relational practice in mental health.

Poor mental health is a national crisis. Those with the severest of mental health difficulties experience  a high risk of suicide and self-harm, a lack of independence, and a loss of hope. Though many are still young adults, most of our residents have spent years in psychiatric hospitals before coming to CHT; medication alone is not the answer. For 30 years, CHT has provided a unique approach with a distinct clinical model. We work with individuals with a history of multiple or prolonged hospital admissions, providing an alternative, longer-term solution that enables the majority of our residents to move on to lower support, with many taking up education, training or employment while still with us – a stark contrast to psychiatric hospital.

As part of our five-year strategic plan two years ago CHT commissioned a part-time consultant to develop our fundraising and communications capacity from scratch. We now feel that the time is right to build on the work done so far and to step up a gear and appoint our own full-time Head of Fundraising and Communications who will lead on the further growth of our fundraising capacity and fully develop our marketing. About the Service

Hertfordshire Mind Network (HMN) delivers Hertfordshire’s CAMHS Early Help Digital Intervention Service, With YOUth. The CYP Group Facilitator will be responsible for implementing and delivering the group support aspect of an innovative partnership between BfB Labs and HMN. Together, we will provide a countywide early help digital intervention service that is accessible to children and young people and their families, aged 5-18, at the earliest point of an emerging emotional wellbeing and/or mental health need. The service will operate between 14:00 – 22:00 seven days a week.

About the Role

Our trauma-informed model offers a range of support options for CYP, based around digital interventions and supported by one-to-one and group sessions, so children and young people can engage in the way that works best for them. The service will build resilience in CYP by working with them to develop coping strategies and solutions that will enable them to improve their own health and wellbeing. We will also provide advice and guidance to parents/families/carers and professionals to provide a holistic response to supporting CYP and creating a network around them to empower and enable positive change.

The objectives of the With YOUth Digital Intervention Service are to:

• Promote resilience and strategies that encourage coping and self-management for CYP, enabling a reduction in referrals to more specialist provision.
• Increase the number of CYP who access evidence-based mental health interventions.
• Ensure more CYP in Hertfordshire have improved awareness and knowledge about emotional wellbeing and mental health.
• Develop an early intervention pathway for children and young people to enable individuals to get timely, responsive support aligned to their needs.
• Reduce waiting times for CYP MHS by providing a timely and effective early help service.
• Help parents and carers to better support their CYP through access to relevant, clear and accessible information about mental health and emotional wellbeing.
• Provide a safe and secure online environment for CYP.
• Reduce the number of CYP experiencing a relapse in their mental health.
• Contribute to the de-stigmatisation of mental health and emotional wellbeing.

About the Role:

Are you passionate about building safer, more connected communities? Neighbourhood Watch Network is looking for a dedicated and motivated Development Lead to spearhead the growth and revitalisation of Neighbourhood Watch initiatives across the diverse borough of Newham. This part-time role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on community safety, fostering collaboration between residents, local authorities, and police.

Please note that this role will be based in Vauxhall and Newham.

Key Responsibilities:

• Association Development:  To identify and work with Neighbourhood Watch volunteers to create a sustainable, engaged and well-equipped Association within Newham.  It must be reflective of the vast diversity within the borough.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to expand and strengthen Neighbourhood Watch schemes across Newham, tailored to the unique needs of each community.
• Community Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for residents interested in joining or starting a Neighbourhood Watch group. Facilitate meetings, workshops, and events to raise awareness and encourage participation.
• Partnership Building: Work closely with local police, council departments, housing associations, and other stakeholders to coordinate efforts and ensure a unified approach to community safety.
• Training & Support: Provide ongoing support and training to Neighbourhood Watch coordinators and volunteers, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge needed to be effective.
• Monitoring & Reporting: Regularly assess the effectiveness of Neighbourhood Watch schemes, providing detailed reports to the Head of Membership and Community Engagement and recommending improvements.
• Outreach & Communication: Develop and distribute communication materials, such as newsletters, social media updates, and promotional campaigns, to keep the community informed and engaged.

Outcomes: 

• Create an environment in which the wider community is less tolerate to crime
• Equip a wide range of community members with heightened awareness about crime prevention, community connection, and collaborative engagement
• Increase the number and range of volunteers, community members and organisations engaged with Neighbourhood Watch
• Better equip community members to recognise and prevent crime and antisocial behaviour
• Increase well-being in the community by focusing on an asset-based community development model

About You:

• Experience: Proven experience in community development, project management, or a related field. Previous experience working with volunteers and in community safety initiatives is desirable. 
• Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills. Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, from residents to senior officials.
• Knowledge: A solid understanding of the principles of Neighbourhood Watch, crime prevention, and community engagement within urban environments.
• Attributes: You are proactive, resourceful, and passionate about making a difference in the community. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have a strong commitment to public safety.

Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led learning programmes at HMP Maidstone. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our prison based reading and numeracy programme, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.

This role will be prison-based. This service provides support to children, young people and their families either living within poverty, or at risk of living in poverty, to improve their health, safety and well-being, to reduce family dependency on specialist service interventions and to remove barriers that promote inequality.

Within this role, you will use the five ways to wellbeing and resilience framework to provide, family support, group work, self-management courses and awareness raising activities to improve mental wellbeing, resilience and parenting for children, young people, and their families, supporting them to develop, acquire and use skills and resources to make positive changes to achieve better outcomes.
