We are looking for an experienced Grants Commissioning Manager to join our Grants & Commissioning Team based in Portsmouth. The Commissioning Manager will support the Head of Commissioned Grants with all elements of the commissioning cycle including understanding need, designing projects, performance management of delivery and reporting of impact as well as providing and developing commissioning and project support, in line with RNRMC’s commissioning and partnership funding model.The role will work with internal and external stakeholders regarding the performance of grants programmes to ensure quality, evidenced outputs, and value for money of projects.

In addition, you may be asked to line manage team members, taking responsibility for actively and proactively supporting them to achieve in their post.

RNRMC is the Navy’s principal charity which exists to support every sailor, marine and their families, for life. We do this by offering grants to and working with, other organisations to deliver programmes that meet the needs of our beneficiaries. Experience and Background

You will be an experienced commissioning manager with excellent interpersonal skills. You will be diplomatic and approachable with a strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing.  You will possess excellent problem-solving skills and judgement alongside a meticulous, accurate and disciplined approach to work. You will demonstrate good organisational skills and be able to prioritise a varied and busy workload and deliver to deadlines.

You will have strong people management skills and experience in working with a wide range of stakeholders and will inspire confidence, provide credible leadership, build and maintain relationships plus motivate and drive towards delivery of change at pace. 

You will be self-motivated and enthusiastic, be able to think strategically to resolve problems and make recommendations and present options for approval.

Hours of Work

Hours of work are 35 hours per week, 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday.

We have a friendly, supportive, and inclusive environment with a hybrid working approach of 60% in office and 40% home-working.

Salary

The salary range for the post is between £ 38,000 to £ 45,000 per annum, according to skills and experience.

Ensuring all financial reporting and management, cash handling, daily banking and security procedures are followed.

Ensuring donated goods are processed according to set standards and timeframes, and that pricing is in line with charity guidelines.

Key Criteria: 

Solid retail experience, preferably in fashion/clothing.

Experience in managing a team. Managing volunteers would be an advantage.

Comprehensive understanding of retailing and merchandising display.

Experience of cash handling and financial management procedures (including completion of sales records).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first attitude and the ability to communicate with tact and discretion.

Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload, balancing competing demands.

Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment.

About the role

With your own caseload of families, you will act as their key worker and support them to either resettle or prevent homelessness. Your primary focus will be on households where some tailored interventions are required around the needs of the children in order to stabilise their housing situation and enable the family to thrive.

Accordingly, you will provide intensive, tailored support as part of a whole family approach in a 1-2-1 setting and through group work. You will also need to regularly visit clients’ homes, schools and community venues across the city and liaise with other agencies in the community in order to provide a co-ordinated service.

About you

Our day centre service is currently open three days per-week offering respite, food and somewhere safe to be for anyone facing street homelessness. You will help us to provide key services across Greater Manchester. The Community team is made of therapists, group, and community workers to support men and boys to access the services they need. About you - skills and experience

You will have: 

• previous experience in Charity Legacy Management or equivalent areas of specialism in the legal sector, ideally with managerial responsibility, with the Institute of Legacy Management Certificate CICLA (Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration), STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) qualification or equivalent
• demonstrable experience of working in a senior position in the legacy department of a charity or Probate department of a firm of Solicitors, Bank or Trust Corporation
• good finance and accounting knowledge, particularly estate accounts, investment management and share valuations
• strong knowledge of relevant Charity Law legislation
• strong knowledge of relevant Probate and Trust Law and procedures

The team mostly work from home however, our expectation is that we will need the successful candidate to be able to travel to the offices in Haywards Heath, West Sussex (RH16 3BW) at least once per quarter but there is also the option to work in the office for three days per week, working the other two days from home. It’s an easy 20-minute train journey from Brighton or 45 minutes from London. We’re located close to Haywards Heath rail station and on lots of bus routes. Please note that this role must be worked from within the UK.

You will work proactively with the Executive and senior management team in order to ensure excellent duty of care for Safeguarding and in promoting an open and learning culture. The Head of Safeguarding and Customer Experience will continue and develop the successful corporate senior level oversight of safeguarding and oversee our Serious Incident Register and procedure to Board level. Additional to this through the delivery of excellent customer experience the post holder will be ambitious for the lives of the people we support and will ensure people are safe and well supported, the role will innovate and advocate for the voice of service user to be heard and their preferences for support respected and delivered.

The Head of Safeguarding and Customer Experience will oversee two small teams and be part of the Quality senior leadership team. You will be digitally literate, have excellent report writing and presentation skills and contribute to excellent social care governance processes with other senior colleagues and the executive team.

The post holder will be primarily based at our head office in Stockport, work pattern will be agreed based on the needs of the role. You will work in conjunction proactively with the senior management team in order to ensure excellent duty of care is delivered.  

The post holder will also be expected to deliver local skills based training sessions and coaching in order to improve management skills in managing and preventing safeguarding. Skills based work will include maintaining open and learning cultures, Duty of candour approaches and providing excellent customer experience.

About the role

We’re looking for a qualified Management Accountant with management accounting experience to join our Finance team.

This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate reporting of the charity’s income earned each month and to support in the forecasting of income for inclusion in the annual budgets and regular re-forecasts.

The role holder will provide explanations of variances to budget and/or forecast.

The role holder will work with the Income Operations, Income Generation and Finance teams to ensure processes around income are sufficiently robust to ensure the accurate reporting of income in the monthly management accounts and the minimisation of work to reconcile income received in the bank with income reported in the income statement.

The role holder will play an integral role in the successful implementation of the new finance system. Ensuring that the opportunities the new technology offers are integrated and that stakeholders see a noted difference in the reporting and analysis they receive from Finance.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• Work with the two Finance Business Partners and wider Finance team, in the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Responsible for ensuring the accurate reporting of income in the monthly management accounts and in the annual report and accounts.
• Work closely with the Income Operations team in particular to ensure income is appropriately recorded in CARE (CRM system) and subsequently in Business Central (the new finance system).
• Preparation of templates used for budgets and forecasts and completion of budgets, as directed by the Finance Business Partner.
• Maintain KPIs each month, flagging trends identified which indicate risks and opportunities to budgets and forecasts to the Finance Business Partner and wider Finance team.
• Modelling of income and income scenarios to support project work and business cases.
• Build strong relationships within Finance and work with colleagues to promote and ensure positive collaboration across departments.

What do I need? 

The key skills we’re looking for in this role are:

• CCAB Qualified Accountant
• Experience of management accounting and the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Reviewing and implementing process improvements required to improve the accuracy of monthly reporting.
• Educated to degree level or evidenced equivalent.
• Strong Excel capability and proficient in the use of other Microsoft Office applications.
• A team player with the ability to forge excellent working relationships quickly.
• Ability to prioritise delivery of conflicting priorities and to effectively manage stakeholder expectations around deadlines.
