The Head of Engagement is vital in shaping the organisation’s approach to promoting, engaging, and building lasting connections with young people through participatory programs. This position is designed to drive innovative and strategic engagement, empowering teams to think creatively about how the organization reaches and impacts its audience. The Head of Engagement delivers high-quality, meaningful programmes that foster long-term relationships based on trust and positive experiences.
Your Main Responsibilities:
- To play a key role in the Senior Leadership Team, specialising in community development and engagement with young people.
- Support the Chief Community Officer in developing and delivering the organisational strategic plan around youth engagement, including taking lead responsibility for agreed-upon strategies and deliverables to provide long-term positive relationships through positive activities.
- Work in partnership and proactively engage with key partners from across the city in the Youth and Play sector, physical activity, and sports participation.
- Manage commissioned contracts, grants, and other agreed projects, including work with partners and subcontractors.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting using case studies, data insights, and sector/local data comparisons to inform and measure impact.
- Lead on and support the preparation of reports and documents as commissioners, funders, and trustees require.
- Identify and lead funding bids, contracts, and partnerships to generate funding for projects to ensure the sustainability of programmes.
- Line Manage the Social Inclusion, Youth work, and Participation managers.
- Develop the skills, experience, and capabilities within the teams relating to local and current issues.
- Support the overall running of the organisation through robust budget setting and planning, safeguarding, health and safety, KPIs, operational updates, risk management, project development, and bid writing.
You will have:
- Proven track record of developing strategies to develop community delivery in youth engagement, including youth work and participation.
- Evidence of understanding the challenges young people face, specifically in Bristol, and the priorities set out by local authorities, police, youth and play services, schools, and other organisations.
- Proven links and strong relationships with contacts locally and nationally, including schools, local authorities, police, youth services, disability organizations, and NGBs.
- Ability to inspire, lead, and develop a team toward achieving project and department-wide goals.
- Ability to identify good practices and have a capability in monitoring and benchmarking performance using industry terminology and metrics.
- A creative mindset and experience around community development where unique and engaging community programmes are implemented is evident.
- Capable of analysing and assimilating information through qualitative and quantitative data/information to produce reports for stakeholders, trustees, and funders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to connect with the community, staff, and stakeholders/partners.
- Ability to be flexible in navigating the evolving landscape of community-based delivery to young people, services locally and nationally, and address emerging needs.

Sitting within the RHS Learning division, as the RHS London Programme Officer for the National Education Nature Park, you will work to enable education settings and young people in the region to participate in Nature park programme. This will include:
- Reporting to the Senior Programme Officer (London), you will work as part of a team to engage networks and school leads in the National Education Nature Park programme. You will identify local sources of support, and through events and workshops, inspire and upskill key stakeholders to sustain schools and settings in their National Education Nature Park journey.
- Developing a deep understanding of the local context and support available for education settings within the region on environmental education, nature restoration, climate change, climate adaptation and green space access.
- You will be working with educators and young people from early years, primary, secondary and further education settings. Through informal learning opportunities and across a wide range of curriculum areas.
- Working with the multidisciplinary programme partnership to provide on the gorund insights and testing of programme elements
- Raise awareness of the RHS National Education Nature Park grant programme

About National Education Nature Park
National Education Nature Park is a partnership project led by the Natural History Museum, working with the Royal Horticultural Society, the Royal Society, Royal Geographical Society, Learning through Landscapes, Manchester Metropolitan University and additional supporting partners.
The National Education Nature Park will engage children, young people and their educators with nature, supporting young people in England to play a driving role in mapping and monitoring biodiversity on their grounds using citizen science and, critically, taking action to enhance it.
From creating pollinator friendly habitats where biodiversity can thrive, to digging ponds, or creating planting schemes that support climate resilience, the project will showcase what can be achieved on the Education estate.
The Nature Park will also provide opportunities for young people to take part in community science, identifying local impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss and developing key skills to solve these problems.

Job Description
The purpose of this role is three-fold.
First, to ensure that Sustrans has the people, money, processes, controls and systems to deliver its 2025-30 strategy, as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Second, to support the CEO in holding the organisation to account for delivery, and to drive continual improvement of this delivery across all functions.
Third, through effective financial planning and control, to ensure that Sustrans remains financially sustainable.
To do this effectively, this role is responsible for the following functions: Finance; IT; People; Planning, Governance & Assurance.
Key responsibilities:Finance
- Responsible for the overall financial strategy and financial planning for the charity, including the development of effective financial policies, and for the annual budget and business plan.
- Leading all financial operations of the organisation including business partnering, financial analysis, accounting and treasury, contract and grants management, and procurement. Provide regular financial updates, recommendations and strategic insights to the Executive, Board of Trustees and associated sub-committees.
- Lead the promotion and delivery by the whole organisation of good financial management so that the funds and assets for which the Charity is responsible are safeguarded and used appropriately, economically, efficiently and effectively.
- Accountable for producing annual statutory accounts for each financial year.
IT & Systems
- Strategic oversight of IT operations and successful evolution and implementation of our Systems & Technology strategy and roadmap.
People
- Responsible for developing Sustrans' culture and people capability by ensuring the right structures and processes are in place to nurture and develop the Charity's people. This includes determining relevant strategies and HR and policies, and then ensuring their implementation through an approach of continual improvement.
Governance* Planning & Assurance - including Risk, Health and Safety, Legal, Data Management, Procurement, Planning, Reporting, 3rd line programme and project assurance, Continuous Improvement
- As the designated Executive lead for Health and Safety - review, update and ensure the effective delivery of Sustrans Health and Safety Policy.
- Responsible for the Charity's risk framework, enabling the Board to set the organisation's risk appetite and then for the processes and tools that enable risk to be rigorously identified and managed.
- Data governance, ensuring compliance and risk minimisation on all matters of data protection and governance.
- Developing and implementing the processes required to ensure consistent and timely reporting of all performance across the Charity and up to the Board of Trustees, to ensure line of sight into delivery of the strategy and provide the foundations for improvement.
- Second line assurance of project and programme delivery across Sustrans.
- NOTE: Governance* and third line Corporate level assurance sits within this Portfolio but reports to the CEO.
The Successful Applicant
- Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification.
- Extensive experience of strategic planning and effective implementation.
- Experience of successfully leading and managing complex organisational change and improvement with quantifiable results.
- Experience of leading teams successfully through change.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high performing teams to deliver organisational excellence, impact, and efficiency.
- Experience of implementing organisation-wide business planning, budgeting, and reporting framework.
- Deep knowledge of financial planning and strategy.
- Financial Acumen: Ability to think strategically about financials and put this into practice through budgeting and business planning.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial legislation, accounting conventions, and best practices.
- Proven track record of managing complex projects and programme delivery.
- Experience (ideally in multiple sectors) at executive level across multiple portfolios.

About the role
We’re looking for a Head of Brand and Content to join our Brand and Marketing Communications team. This is a brand new role and exciting opportunity to bring your passion and experience to deliver bold, impactful and innovative work.

Your Key Responsibilities

The Head of Health and Wellbeing will drive the department's strategic direction, develop community-based health and wellbeing programmes that meet the community's needs, and monitor and evaluate their success. The post holder will develop and maintain partnerships, oversee the department's growth, and manage the health and wellbeing team.
Your Main Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in the Senior Leadership Team with a key specialism in linking health and wellbeing to community development.
- Support the CCO in developing and delivering the organisational strategic plan for health and wellbeing, including taking lead responsibility for agreed strategies and deliverables.
- Link into the NHS long-term plan and ensure programmes are aligned to local and national strategies around health and wellbeing.
- Work in partnership and be proactive in engaging with key partners from across the City in the health and wellbeing sector, including public health and local PCNs.
- Manage commissioned contracts, grants, and other agreed projects, including work with partners and subcontractors, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Lead on and support the preparation of reports and documents as required by commissioners, funders, and trustees.
- Identify and lead on bids, contracts, and partnerships to generate project funding.
- Line Manage the health and wellbeing staffing team.
- Develop the skills, experience, and capabilities within the teams relating to local and current issues.
- Support the overall running of the organisation through robust budget setting and planning, safeguarding, health and safety, KPIs, operational updates, risk management, project development, and bid writing.
- Respond promptly to emerging issues/needs/threats and take advantage of new opportunities.
- Review operational and delivery risks to ensure that key risks are appropriately managed.
- Safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, working within organisational safeguarding policies and local authority frameworks.
You will have:
- To have been working in a community development organisation or role at a senior level with a proven track record of developing strategies and community delivery in the health and wellbeing sector.
- Evidence of understanding the health inequalities and priorities across Bristol.
- Proven links and strong relationships with contacts in the local and national health sector, including NHS, ICB, Local Authority, health charities and organisations, VCSE alliance, and PCNs.
- Ability to inspire, lead, and develop a team towards achieving project and department-wide goals.
- Proven ability to manage multiple programmes and teams
- Ability to identify good practices and have a capability in monitoring and benchmarking the performance of staff and programmes using industry terminology and metrics linked to health and wellbeing.

- The ability to manage multiple people, priorities, and programmes where quality is paramount is important.
