Sydenham Garden is seeking a Community Activities & Volunteering Lead on a fixed term 3 year contract to join our team of 15 staff and approximately 60 volunteers in delivering adult mental health and dementia services in our beautiful garden setting in south-east London.

Sydenham Garden, based in Lewisham in South-East London, is a unique wellbeing centre utilising its gardens, nature reserve and activity rooms to help people living with and recovering from mental and physical ill-health. We provide nature and arts based creative, social and therapeutic activities for co-workers (the name we give to our primary beneficiaries). With 3-year funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to help us ‘grow our community’ and increase the sustainability of our impact we’re seeking a Community Activities & Volunteering Lead to drive continuous improvement and development of volunteer-led community activities for the benefit of co-workers as well as managing the day to day running of our volunteer programme.

- Someone who will support the success of the Regional Fundraising team by coordinating programmes of work, projects and ways of working to create better collaboration and consistency across the team, enabling us to meet our team objectives of securing sustainable income.
- Someone who can monitor and take ownership of all regular Regional Processes e.g. Monthly reporting, basic database (CARE) checks/reporting, risk assessment process, setting up team meetings.
- Someone who can take on national programme research and support e.g. coordinating key information for multi-region opportunities, whole team materials/resources (e.g. new mini fundraising guides).

Evolve, a leading mental health counselling charity, is seeking a part-time administrator receptionist, to be the first point of contact for clients seeking our non-emergency professional mental health counselling services.
The postholder will manage phone calls and web enquiries through to successful conclusions via our Head of Counselling and their team of over fifty counsellors, creating and maintaining client records with Charitylog – a client records management system.

A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. This postholder is the first contact for referrals made into a perinatal programme supporting migrant marginalised women who experience many barriers to accessing maternity care. The role is 14 hours per week which will need to be worked over a minimum of three working days, one being either a Monday or Wednesday. This is largely a community-based role, working from a project office with some home working.

CJC is a broad coalition of NGOs, trade unions and law firms, encompassing a range of political and thematic priorities, from workers’ rights and modern slavery, to climate and the environment, global justice and the rights of women and girls, children and indigenous peoples. We’re at a crucial point in a campaign which spans advocacy, public communications and engagement with businesses, and seeks to ensure the implementation of a ‘Business, Human Rights and Environment Act’ in the UK. This legislation would help end corporate abuses of human rights and the environment, and make it easier for victims to access justice. - Assisting the policy and research teams with major public affairs projects and campaigns according to the UKIEs internal strategy and drawing on Ukie’s internal data and external partners where appropriate.
- Supporting and promoting Ukie at external political meetings, including our bi-annual Westminster Games Week.
- Support in raising the profile of Ukie and its significant policy priorities through external communications in partnership with the Ukie campaigns team, and through public scrutiny such as the use of written parliamentary questions.
- Acting as the lead point of contact for the APPG on Video Games and Esports to which Ukie acts as the secretariat and taking responsibility for liaising with its members.
- Lead on external policy communications such as the Ukie Policy Byte, the bi-weekly political newsletter, with support from Senior Policy Manager and Head of Policy where necessary.
- Be responsible for the team administration of internal stakeholder meetings, including sending out invites, taking minutes and preparing relevant material as well as maintaining up to date email lists of all stakeholders.
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with games industry member businesses and a wide range of external bodies; including partner organisations, government officials and other trade bodies.
- Support the Senior Policy Manager and Head of Policy in the management of Ukie’s internal stakeholder groups – including Ukie’s policy group and its various working sub groups.
- Maintain stakeholder engagement trackers and act as a point of contact for external engagement with Parliamentarians, regional politicians and their offices.
- Support the Head of Policy and Chief Executive in any external engagements.
- Support the policy team and wider Senior Management team with other reasonable tasks as required
Qualifications and experience required for this role
Qualified by experience. You don’t need to hold a degree to apply for this role, but experience of working in a policy facing role, public affairs agency or regulatory environment would be advantageous. On-the-job training will be provided via Ukie or external providers where appropriate.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday – 9.00am to 5.30pm
- Expectation that some evening and weekend work may be required to attend or run Ukie events as the business requires.
This role profile is not exhaustive; working as part of a small and dynamic team, there will be an opportunity to tailor the role to your interests and ambitions in agreement with the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager and Head of Policy and Public Affairs.

Many of these challenges are complex and long-term, and our systems change campaigning function works with colleagues across the RSPB to tackle them head on. We are recruiting for a Senior Campaigner in our Campaigning & Mobilisation department.
What’s the role about
Our systems change campaigns work tackles big, complex problems facing nature and climate over the long-term. The current focus is to drive systemic change that creates the right conditions for nature-friendly farming to prosper. You will focus campaigning pressure wherever it can be exerted to best effect – and not always at governments, but also at other key actors. Through the campaigns you develop you will help us realise large-scale positive change for nature and climate that builds and builds.
The campaigns you help develop will have multiple elements, offering our phenomenal supporters a range of ways to get involved. Their supporter journey will deepen engagement and empowerment of individual campaigners over time, equipping them to tackle these complex problems in their own way.
As part of a dispersed team, you could be based anywhere in the UK, so long as you’re able to travel to central locations to get together with colleagues, and on occasion to meet with colleagues in Cardiff, Belfast, Edinburgh and Birmingham.
In this role, key activities will include:
- Co-creating and delivering systems change campaigns on behalf of the RSPB, working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation.
- Responsibility to roll out systems change campaigns in two of the four countries of the UK (with another Senior Campaigner covering the other two).
- Recruiting and line managing professional volunteers to provide expert guidance or deliver campaigns.
- Building key internal and external relationships to support development and delivery of systems change campaigns.
- Maintaining technical expertise and analysis of external context relating to the current campaign and challenges facing nature.
- Ensuring compliance with legal, Charity Commission, and internal policy on campaigning standards.
What we need from you:
- A passion for nature, addressing climate change and campaigning!
- Relevant experience to effectively deliver the responsibilities and tasks of this role, including demonstrable campaigning experience.
- Ability to see the big picture, understand and simplify complex systems affecting nature.
- Ability to understand where, when and how to apply campaigning pressure for maximum impact.
- Ability to drive forward work in a complex, large organization and through a four-country operating model.
- Excellent time management skills to focus own time on the highest priorities.
General information
- From time-to-time, and particularly at the start of a new campaign, you will be expected to come together with others working on that campaign, and co-locate face-to-face for a few days. There will be some meetings together, and also the opportunity to work side by side on the project for a short period. The RSPB will subsidise any required accommodation or travel as per our Expenses Policy. This will help build relationships, break down silos, and make working together online easier and more enjoyable. This co-location will usually be at an RSPB office and will be agreed in advance. Outside of these co-location moments you will be based in your contracted place of work as usual. Reasonable adjustment to the above can be discussed with the Line Manager.
