Role responsibilities

- Advise and support the CEO and Board on all fundraising and marketing matters.

What we’re looking for
You will have extensive fundraising experience in a compatible context, specifically across key areas of income generation. You must be target driven to achieve income objectives set. You will have appropriate qualifications or be qualified through experience in fundraising and marketing and/or communications.

As our Interim co-director: campaigns & communications you’ll support and oversee a team of talented campaigners and communicators delivering our vision of a zero carbon Britain built by, and for, everyone. Demonstrable ability to work as part of a senior leadership team with a commitment to principles of shared leadership, and to take responsibility for decision making at a senior level.

You will develop and deliver an area plan that captures the importance of volunteer engagement, recruitment, support, enabling and succession planning to ultimately achieve branch growth and sustainability. About You:

About the role
Alongside the Service Manager, you are responsible and accountable for monitoring, maintaining and providing the highest standards of clinical and personal support and service delivery, while promoting independence and choice to the people supported in the service. You will support the Service Manager to manage and ensure the delivery of the service’s key quality and safety priorities by holding delegated responsibility in key areas of the day-to-day running of the residential activity/service. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
As Senior Scientific Projects Officer, you will be pivotal in delivering Beacon’s scientific training initiatives. Your role will involve creating and delivering educational content through written guides, webinars, and workshops, aimed at equipping patient group leaders and academics with the knowledge to contribute effectively to the development of new therapies for rare diseases.
Alongside the Scientific Projects Manager and other key team members, you’ll work across two main areas of the charity’s work:
- REMEDi4ALL: A European-wide drug repurposing platform, aiming to expedite the use of existing medicines to address unmet clinical needs. Collaborating with our European partners, you will drive the creation of training materials focused on patient engagement and education within the drug repurposing community.
- Rare Disease Research: Supporting the development of the UK rare disease research ecosystem, alongside LifeArc’s newly funded Rare Disease Translational Research Centres. You will help establish new standards in patient-centred research, disseminating findings and insights from this innovative network to accelerate rare disease treatment development in the UK.
Across these projects, you will manage the development of educational materials, including writing and reviewing content, supporting and coordinating volunteers and pro bono contributors, planning and delivering live training events, and assessing needs through feedback and stakeholder engagement.

You will have the rewarding experience of providing information, guidance and support to people affected by dementia.
