Junior UX Designer
We’re looking for a talented and innovative UX Designer to join our team. You will assist in creating user-centred designs by understanding business requirements, user needs and technical constraints.
This is a remote working role.

The Role
Reporting to the UX Manager, the Junior UX Designer role will help develop user-centred products and services across our website and other digital platforms, with a strong focus on accessibility, usability and engagement to support those impacted by stroke.
Key responsibilities will include:
· Design and prototyping – create wireframes, user flows, site maps etc. across multiple devices.
· User research – conduct and analyse user research including surveys, usability testing and A/B testing.
· Collaboration – work collaboratively with developers, designers and stakeholders.
· Accessibility standards – ensure all designs are accessible for our users and inclusive.
· Help to conduct and evaluate research studies to inform the design process and ensure that our products and services meet the needs of our users.
· Convert research findings into actionable insights and present research findings to a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
· Collaborate closely with product teams to ensure that design solutions are aligned with the organisation's goals and are feasible to implement.
About You
You will need to be:
· Enthusiastic, hard-working and passionate about creating user focused experiences.
· Understanding of web and mobile technologies, and ability to create designs that are responsive and accessible.
· Proactive in staying up to date with new UX trends and best practice.
· Proficient in tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Hotjar, Google Analytics or similar.
· Experienced in applying user-centred design methodologies in past projects.
· Skilled with attention to detail.

We are seeking an organised, driven individual with excellent written communication skills to help us grow income from grant making trusts and foundations. This role will raise vital income that will help us support more people affected by pulmonary fibrosis, and fund ground breaking new research that we hope will help stop lives being lost to pulmonary fibrosis.
APF supports people affected by pulmonary fibrosis - a cruel and terminal lung scarring disease that cuts thousands of lives short in the UK each year. There’s no known cure, and it’s on the rise. We want to stop lives being lost to pulmonary fibrosis, and as we enter a new five-year strategic period, income growth underpins our ambitious and exciting plans to grow research, support and influencing.
As Trusts & Grants Coordinator, you will produce inspiring funding applications and reports, and develop relationships with new and existing funders. As well as building on our pipeline of grant making trusts, you will also support the development of income from statutory bodies such as local authorities.
We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail, and who is able to write impact-driven funding proposals and reports to inspire sustainable funding. As a result, we have been awarded contracts to deliver Personal Wellbeing Services for North and South Wales. These services will involve a range of support to community offenders and prison leavers including families, emotional wellbeing, lifestyle and associates and social inclusion (including meet at the gates).
About this exciting opportunity
Working as part of a multi-agency team, you will provide person-centred support to a caseload of service users who will either be serving community sentences or being released from prison. You will undertake assessment and action planning with individual service users, create a safe and trusting environment, using trauma-informed practice to successfully facilitate a supportive and constructive relationship with service users, plus deliver a range of interventions to service users which contribute towards achievement of prescribed outcomes.
We will also count on you to develop and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies, including probation, prisons, partners, and others who will assist in achieving prescribed outcomes for service users, ensuring you work towards contractual targets and outcomes within agreed timescales. Using agreed CRM databases and recording all activity relating to caseload and providing updates and reports are also key duties.
What we are looking for
• Experience working with partner agencies either as part of a multi-agency team working towards common objectives or negotiating to establish links to further the aims of a project
• L3 in Advice and Guidance or equivalent
• The ability to assess clients’ needs and provide tailored, client-led support through action planning and interventions involving advice, guidance, advocacy, and coaching
• An ability to work sensitively with clients applying trauma-informed strategies
• Impressive IT, relationship-building and communication skills, both verbal and written.

The position:
As Social Media Coordinator, you will live and breathe all things social media, leading all activities across our Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and LinkedIn, as well as keeping an eye out for opportunities elsewhere on social media.

Hours:
This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday.
From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.
During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, to be worked across Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

The post holder will lead on the Foundation’s research communications activities, working closely with the Comms and Digital Lead to execute a research communications strategy. Lead on the development of all external research communications activities to communicate the impact of our research and ensure our supporters are kept up to date with the latest developments. This includes developing news stories, blogs, newsletter content, infographics, research webinar series and our annual research impact report;

Liaise with our funded researchers to secure pictures and other content (e.g. video) for use on socials including making site visits to labs across the UK;

Liaise with our communications team and PR agency to take advantage of any press opportunities that arise for our research communications, supporting the development of position statements and press releases.
Research Funding Administration

Support the Research Programme Managers by ensuring our research grant rounds are effectively administered in line with Association of Medical Research Charity (AMRC) policy, including coordinating comprehensive internal and external peer review, supporting research review committees, drafting feedback for applicants, managing the contracting and financial monitoring of awards;

Assist the Research Programme Managers in managing the research programme budget including planning, monitoring and forecasting;

Support the ongoing development and implementation of our online grant management system, Flexi-Grant;

Track and assess progress of funded awards, building and managing relationships with award holders and maintaining regular communication through the project life cycle;

Assist the Research Programme Managers in preparing reports and correspondence for the Board of Trustees related to funded awards.
General Responsibilities

Contribute to the team being proactive and supportive, and working effectively and efficiently to achieve agreed objectives;

Contribute to the development and maintenance of strong internal relationships across the charity, working specifically with the Fundraising Team to support income generation;

Represent the Foundation at external scientific meetings and conferences;

Undertake other work as required by the Research Programme Managers or Director of Research.
Skills and experience required:
- It is essential that candidates are educated to postgraduate level in a relevant biomedical science subject e.g. biology, molecular sciences, neuroscience, pharmacology (please note, degrees in psychology will not be accepted for this role);

Experience of research communications, including the ability to disseminate complex scientific information and present it to non-technical audiences;

A great communicator, with excellent written and oral skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders;

Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;

Self-motivated, proactive and able to work using own initiative;

Organised, with a proven ability to successfully manage a broad spectrum of tasks, deadlines and individuals;

Motivated to make a real difference for those living with MND and future generations.
This is a full time, home-based role, with travel across the UK.
