As a Shop Volunteer with us, you will be:
- Engaging with customers

- Working on the till
Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too) 9am to 5pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but it would be great if you could support in the shop for at least 3 hours a week.

- Volunteers help to deliver our vital food services to between 140 and 180 marginalised adults per day, Monday -Friday.
- Responsibilities include setting up the dining room for lunch service, food preparation, serving food, and clean down after service.
- There is potentially scope for providing practical and emotional support to our guests.
- The Ace of Clubs has a unique and compassionate atmosphere, where volunteers have the ability to develop important interpersonal skills. Furthermore, supporting the Ace of Clubs can help people to expand their awareness of the health and social care sector, and the inner working of a reputable charity.
- For those who are interested in catering, this is a great opportunity to develop knowledge and experience in food service.
- One day per week, Monday to Friday. It does not have to be the same day each week.Hours being 9:30am to 15:00pm.
- As volunteers are so crusial to Ace we ask for a commitment of at least three months, whether this be a few days a week or one ever other.
- Our guests come from all works of life, so volunteering with us enables you to hear and understand the backgrounds of diverse individuals. Teamwork is also important, as volunteers work closely together as a group.
- We offer Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2 to all our commited volunteers.
We serve those in the community who are experiencing homelessness including those who are sleeping rough or are living temporary or insecure housing

- Help to build a database of young people and others in the community who wish to take action for nature.
- Work closely with the marketing volunteer and the Marketing and Communications team within the Trust, to share the campaigns with as wide an audience as possible.

We are looking for youth leaders and anti-racism activists to help us mentor the young people on our Activism Academy programme who are striving for racial justice across the UK. Our Activism Academy is a 6-month leadership development programme for young people interested in creating racial justice solutions.
You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to anti-racism or social justice through your past/current experience, either paid or voluntary.
As a volunteer, you would mentor 1 to 3 students for 13 weeks to help them plan and pilot a racial justice activism campaign of their creation.
Dates of commitment: February 2025 - May 2025 (exact schedule in application form)
Volunteer mentors must commit to:
- 4 x 40-minute online mentoring meetings with your mentee.
- Fill out post-session surveys and notes after each mentor session.
- Completing a 30-minute e-learning training to cover our safeguarding guidelines and how to support your mentees best.
- Provide ad-hoc support as and when your mentee needs it.
- Attend the final pitch event on the 10th of May 2025 (optional)

Would you like to help tackle loneliness, one conversation at a time?
Loneliness and isolation can have devastating effects on a person’s mental and physical health. We are a registered charity providing a pathway of support to alleviate the hurt and distress, and the impact on mental and physical health, caused by loneliness and social isolation.
We are looking for Impact volunteers to help us with the monitoring and evaluation of our services so that we can understand the impact of them and make sure we are meeting our aims and fulfilling our remit.
The role involves conducting a survey, mostly over the telephone (there may be face-to-face interviewing opportunities) that helps us measure our impact on loneliness and social isolation.
For all our roles:
Enhanced DBS checks for working with vulnerable adults (formerly called criminal records bureau checks) which we will organise (no cost to this) and two references are required.
For any roles involving driving Archway Friends, we will need to see evidence of insurance and driving license as well as MOT and tax documents for the vehicle to be used.
We will happily cover out of pocket expenses (eg mileage or costs of calls made.).
We provide training relevant to the roles as well as ongoing supervision, guidance and support for all volunteers.

- Lead a 2-hour weekly session during term time, following YoCO’s unique programme: ME (self-awareness), US (group dynamics), and THEM (community & global causes).

Our Shop Volunteers raise money for the people we support with a Learning Disability. Do you have a few hours a week to spare and share your time with us?
Our retail roles are varied and fun. You could be sorting donations from the public, dressing our window or serving customers on the till. There are many people from different walks of life and it's a great way to get practical experience and to meet new people.
This role will take place on a weekly basis for a few hours We will try our best to be flexible around the best time for you, but also need to consider the store opening times and volunteer rota. It could be a weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon, our stores are usually open 7 days a week. We’d appreciate any time that you can spare.
Whilst in the store, you will help with activities based on the needs of the Store Manager.
Tasks you could get up to whilst volunteering could include:
- Serving customers on the till
- Taking stock donations from the public
- Tagging and steaming stock for the shop floor
- Dressing the window displays
- Asking people to join us as a volunteer

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams.
