Head of Communications

Location: The role is based at the Trust’s office in West Berkshire with a minimum of three days per week expected to be worked at our Newbury office. Flexible working arrangements are available with the understanding that this must meet the objectives of the charity and requirements of the role.

Salary range: £48,000 - £58,000, depending on experience.

Purpose

Key responsibilities and duties

This is an exciting and vital role to shape and deliver a multi-channel communications strategy for a leading mental health charity, focused on supporting the systems around children and young people including parents/carers, schools, colleges and universities. The main responsibilities will include creating and overseeing the activation of the marketing strategy and using data insights and analytics to grow and develop the Trust’s reach and support. The role will also act as the guardian to the organisation’s website as the main resource and marketing hub.

The role will enable the charity to proactively grow awareness, drive engagement and shape understanding of the Charlie Waller Trust by taking an audience-first approach to communicating our impact and purpose in an engaging and strategic way.

As a member of the senior leadership team, the role requires working closely with the CEO and other heads of teams to develop and grow the marketing and communications strategy, to raise awareness of the charity’s resources and to support the generation of income through the marketing of fundraising and workplace activities. The role will also work closely with and report into the Board of Trustees.

We are looking for a strategic thinker, with experience of both traditional and digital marketing. Someone who enjoys working with data and is always on the lookout for interesting angles or new channels or tactics to test. A passion for using marketing to understand and reach new audiences is vital. An analytical eye is needed alongside an ability to be creative and a desire to share success stories to further raise awareness of the organisation and to extend its reach.

Empathy for our audience and the ability to communicate in a way that allows them to feel seen and understood is important; you will need to have strong interpersonal skills, a desire to develop and build a team and to maintain communication and relationships with others across the organisation.

Inquisitive and creative, you’ll enjoy proposing fresh ideas and approaches for marketing with a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of how marketing sits within the organisation as a whole.

Key Responsibilities and duties

Creating, leading and overseeing the delivery of the organisations marketing strategy including:

• Planning and developing the marketing strategy in line with organisational directives, new resources and initiatives.
• To ensure the appropriate and most effective marketing channels and tactics are used to support the programme and fundraising teams.
• Overall responsibility for the website - direction, content, consistency and tone of voice.
• Use of audience insight and data analysis to determine priorities and curate campaigns, projects and content from across the organisation.
• Development and improvement of user and supporter journeys.
• Marketing project initiation and management.
• Set and oversee marketing budgets

Strategic marketing sign-off including:

• Final sign-off on all website activity - strategy, content, SEO, landing pages and resources.
• Final sign-off of priority campaign materials - publications, newsletters, printed materials and press releases.

Internal and stakeholder communications including:

• Membership of the senior leadership and management teams.
• Assist the senior leadership team and trustees to oversee strategic and operational issues, managing risks related to communications, brand and public image.
• Quarterly marketing reporting to trustees.
• Working in partnership with other agencies on issues of common concern.
• Membership of project group (a cross-departmental group responsible for selecting, tracking and evaluating projects).
• Manage marketing agencies and freelancers to deliver work in line with the marketing strategy in an efficient and timely manner.

HR responsibilities including:

• Overseeing the recruitment to expand the marketing and communications team where required.
• Provide effective management of the communications team (5 direct line reports and 2 other staff).

The Donmar Warehouse raises more money as a percentage of income than any other subsidised theatre in the country. Each year we raise around half of our turnover from a strong combination of individuals, corporates, and trusts and foundations.

The Senior Individual Giving Manager (SIGM) plays a vital role in the Development department during an exciting time in our theatre's history. This role leads on planning and delivery for the Donmar's membership scheme as well as Major Donors up to £10,000.

Delivering excellent customer service to individual donors, the SIGM will ensure the timely renewal of annual memberships and fulfilment of all benefits, working with the Membership Officer to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations. This role will also work closely with the Head of Philanthropy to establish the strategy for the team, identifying further income opportunities from prospects and existing supporters across our productions and participation programmes, and leading on the delivery of campaigns.

Are you an experienced accredited IDVA with experience in a multi-agency?

If so, the Drive Partnership is looking for a DAPO Triage IDVA in Manchester. 

The Drive Partnership was formed by Respect, Safe Lives and Social Finance, is working to transform the national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. 

The Triage IDVA will work as part of the Triage Team in their pilot area, reporting to the Triage Team Leader and working alongside the Triage Worker. They will be responsible  for supporting and presenting the voice of the victims and their children in cases where  the perpetrator has been referred to the team for an assessment of suitability for a Positive Requirement during an application for a DAPO.

They will be responsible for attempting to contact the victims to carry out the relevant safety checks, risk assessments and provide advocacy during the assessment stage and make onward referrals for further support for the victim. They will capture the voice of the victim as part of the overall assessment for a positive requirement and feed their views and any relevant information about risk or need into the overall recommendation. The IDVA’s work and expertise will ensure that the risks and needs for both the Perpetrator and Victims/families are considered so that a co-ordinated and individual intervention plan can be created when appropriate and safe to apply as part of the DAPO.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Deliver targeted, engaging and impactful communications to support the successful delivery of KSS’s strategic objectives

- Write and deliver strategic documents, in partnership with the Governance Team and Senior Leadership Team

The role

Title: Volunteer Coordinator

Reports to: Head of People

Salary: £25,000 per annum, pro rata

Contract: Permanent, part time. 24-32 hours per week flexible across 7 days, onsite at Storyhouse

At Storyhouse, we are lucky enough to have over 180 volunteers. They are integral to our day-to-day operation and are the face of our visitor experience and support our teams across the organisation.

The purpose of this role is to provide coordination of all volunteer activity across the organisation and to support the Head of People with the ongoing management and future development of the volunteer programme.

You will form part of the People Team, which also focuses on Human Resources and Payroll.

You will be proactive in ensuring we have a diverse volunteer programme that is embedded across Storyhouse and is provided as a vital service to our communities.

Responsibilities

Administration

• Coordinate our 180+ volunteers, including maintenance of our systems, training records, and rota management
• Work with all departments to ensure volunteers are integrated and well managed when on shift in their roles
• Oversee and enact all volunteer policies and procedures, playing an active part of annual reviews and ongoing development of these key documents
• Manage the tone and style of communication with all volunteers, managing expectations and keeping them up to date on all Storyhouse news and opportunities
• Keep up to date with best practice and legislation in the volunteer sector
• Conduct regular volunteer surveys and establish routes for volunteers to provide feedback
• Other administrative tasks to support the People Team as required; as a small team, we all support each other.

Recruitment

• Proactively and innovatively manage all volunteer recruitment, creating a diverse pool of volunteers to support our work across the organisation
• Ensure relevant DBS checks are conducted and personal references are obtained, highlighting any concerns
• Support with the development and delivery of volunteer inductions
• Support the Head of People with the creation of volunteer opportunities that both support our teams and provide a first-class experience for the volunteer
• Process leavers relevant systems, monitoring the completion of exit interviews
• Audit & monitor uniform levels, issuing to volunteers, highlighting when stock levels are low

Training

• Maintain our online training records, ensuring volunteers have completed required training
• Assist with the organisation of in-house training by booking spaces, compiling presentations and relevant paperwork, or coordinate the booking of external training providers coming on-site as required

Programme Development

• Attend networking events, open days and recruitment fairs, representing Storyhouse and raising the profile of our work with volunteers
• Work with the Head of People to produce reports on the volunteer programme to the Senior Leadership Team, trustees and other stakeholders as required
• Develop relationships with our partnership organisations and wider networks to maintain and develop existing and new volunteer opportunities
• Work with Young Storyhouse to offer Young Leader graduates volunteer opportunities
• Work on volunteer incentives, recognition and reward schemes across the year

General

• Act in accordance with Storyhouse’s policies and procedures, and undertake any training as required by Storyhouse
• Act as a role model for other staff and contribute to the life of the organisation as a whole
• Carry out any other duties as may be required as part of the Volunteer Coordinator’s role

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a similar role working with volunteers, ideally in a visitor-facing environment
• Experience developing learning pathways for volunteers
• Experience delivering engaging training sessions to a wide range of audiences
• Experience creating positive team environments
• Experience networking and developing mutually beneficial working relationships
• Personal volunteering experience (desirable)
• High level of understanding of volunteer legislation in the UK (relevant qualification desirable)
• Excellent time management, administration, and planning skills
• Ability to problem solve and make decisions independently
• Ability to work to a high standard with personal and professional integrity, with a fair and unbiased approach

Are you an experienced accredited IDVA with experience in a multi-agency?

If so, the Drive Partnership is looking for a DAPO Triage IDVA in Manchester. 

The Drive Partnership was formed by Respect, Safe Lives and Social Finance, is working to transform the national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. 

The Triage IDVA will work as part of the Triage Team in their pilot area, reporting to the Triage Team Leader and working alongside the Triage Worker. They will be responsible  for supporting and presenting the voice of the victims and their children in cases where  the perpetrator has been referred to the team for an assessment of suitability for a Positive Requirement during an application for a DAPO.

They will be responsible for attempting to contact the victims to carry out the relevant safety checks, risk assessments and provide advocacy during the assessment stage and make onward referrals for further support for the victim. They will capture the voice of the victim as part of the overall assessment for a positive requirement and feed their views and any relevant information about risk or need into the overall recommendation. The IDVA’s work and expertise will ensure that the risks and needs for both the Perpetrator and Victims/families are considered so that a co-ordinated and individual intervention plan can be created when appropriate and safe to apply as part of the DAPO. 

We are looking for an individual who will thrive in a fast-paced, rewarding role helping to change the lives of young people by taking up a fixed-term role as a part-time Project Worker in our IntoUniversity centre in North Islington. You will work closely with our existing team, supporting the delivery and organisation of the IntoUniversity programme in the centre.

Contract: Fixed term until July 2025, part-time 7.5hrs per week

Start date: As soon as possible, as agreed with the candidate and subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check, and right to work checks. 

Working hours

• EITHER 7.5 hours per week across two afternoons:  between Monday and Thursday 14:00-18:00 and between Tuesday and Wednesday 13:30-17:3

• OR 7.5 hours one day a week (between Monday and Thursday. The hours would be 9:30am - 6:00pm if you were employed on a Monday or Thursday and 9.00am - 5:30pm if you are employed on a Tuesday or a Wednesday.

Main duties of the role

To deliver the IntoUniversity programmem effectively to children and young people in different settings, including schools-based workshops, Academic Support sessions and educational visits. This includes positive behaviour management and adherence to the IntoUniversity safeguarding policy.
