We have an exciting opportunity for a Stock & Retail Supervisor in our Retail team at St Joseph’s Hospice.

We are looking for someone who has exceptional retail experience to work 4 days a week, including weekends. The successful applicant will have retail experience, brand, and fashion knowledge, will be able to drive sales through commercial awareness and will be a team player who will support volunteers to be able to maximise donation sales.

About You

You will need:

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• To oversee donation bins daily from the public which are then sorted and distributed to our three existing shops.
• Knowledge of brands and fashion.
• Sourcing and processing sufficient donations of the appropriate quality to keep all shops fully stocked, through door to door and clothing bank collections.
• Maximise donated stock, understand brands and fashion.
• Work closely with the senior retail team and shop supervisor to understand their stock requirements and be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of our van.

About The Felix Project

The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe. Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted. We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it free of charge to London charities, schools, food banks, COVID food hubs and other organisations serving people in need. Purpose of the Job

The Senior Statutory, Trusts and Foundations Manager will support the step change in growth of primarily Statutory income and support Trusts and Foundations income for The Felix Project in line with the organisational strategy.

This role does not currently have direct reports; subject to income growth, it is anticipated the successful postholder will build a team over time. 

You will be part of a successful team generating £5M with planned incremental growth over the next three years.

We have secured significant funding from the GLA. Our goal is to retain and build upon this, gaining multiyear strategic statutory funding both from central government, local government, and through the individual London boroughs.

You will have a track record delivering Statutory income. You will assess the performance of our statutory funding, working in partnership with the Head of Community Engagement to map a pipeline of potential funds, pinpointing key influencing and decision-making contacts. As part of business planning, you will evaluate the needs of commissioners, working with The Felix Project service delivery teams and finance to create funding bids which are framed to deliver the funders goals, whilst ideally covering the charity’s core costs.

The Felix Project has recently established a Policy Unit. You will work closely with the team to understand the advocacy strategy which has the potential to provide substantiation for funding bids through insight and elevate Felix’s position in the market as a lead and trusted public service delivery solution.

You will be used to working with impact teams from the creation of a funding bid, to establish direct and indirect measures of success which will provide the data points required by funders and help support Felix’s position as a multi-year delivery partner.

You will be confident writing detailed reports meeting funders needs and collaborating with teams across the charity to bring alive the impact of our work.

The role involves frequent collaboration with key internal partners at all levels to inform engagement with funders, including the Charity’s CEO and Trustees. Occasionally we would expect you to work evenings and weekends at networking or fundraising events.

Trust and Foundations income forms 50% of the team’s current revenue. Directed by the Head of Statutory, Trusts and Foundations, and working in partnership with the Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager, you will cultivate existing funders with the aim to secure repeat and grow funding; you will manage and add to an agreed pipeline of warm, lapsed and cold funders securing commitment through great research, understanding of a funders goals, inspiring bid writing, and attentive stewardship.

Because of the impactful work of The Felix Project, fundraising for this cause is very rewarding. During COVID and the current cost-of-living crisis we have focused primarily on our social impact, providing nutritious surplus food and prepared meals from Felix’s Kitchen to Londoners in need. We provide the food for free to over 1000 community organisations, primary schools and children’s holiday programmes across all boroughs. The environmental impact we have by rescuing huge amounts of good quality surplus food from farms and a wide variety of food suppliers is another exciting angle to approach funders with.

In addition, we are piloting youth volunteering and employability programmes, and at times we have exciting tech and capital projects to raise funds for.

Our four depots and Felix’s Kitchen are amazing facilities where you can work and arrange visits with funders, and staff is encouraged to get to know the organisation by volunteering regularly.

Day One Trauma Support – Director of Fundraising and Communications

Location: Home based but with travel nationally as required and regular travel to Leeds base.

Day One, the charity that helps people rebuild their lives after catastrophic injury, is seeking an inspiring leader to create a strong, sustainable plan for their fundraising and communications team and build on solid fundraising foundations to grow income.

Day One is a young, ambitious national charity dedicated to supporting people impacted by catastrophic injury. They currently deliver dedicated services in six regions and have a presence in seven NHS Major Trauma Centres. They also provide a national support service to people anywhere in the UK. Day One works extremely closely with NHS clinical services, delivering support at the bedside in the immediate aftermath of a major trauma, but also has a strong focus on the trauma networks and wider community where people are often alone and isolated trying to recover from their injuries.

Key to that ambition will be a new Fundraising and Communications Director. The Operational Manager, is a new role taking responsibility for clinical and volunteer support services, including group therapy and counselling, along with our helpline and befriending services, overseeing the work of a small, but highly effective team. You will bring expertise and experience in mental health services, including safeguarding, along with a focus on using information to improve and extend our services. 

This role would suit an experienced operational manager aspiring to a Chief Executive post, with opportunities to deputise for the Womankind CEO.

The Role:

You will work alongside the project leaders and CEO to further the work of the organisation and represent Richmond Mencap. You will be responsible for the development of new projects for children, young people and adults. These will build on the strengths of the organisation and support the needs and aspirations of those with whom we work. Additionally, you will be providing onsite leadership for specific projects and will work closely with the CEO and other leads, supporting the charity to achieve its wider goals.

The Role

We are seeking a Program Director/Labour Market Economist who can complement the existing team by virtue of their experience in labour market economics, value chain transformation, and/or the prioritization of public-sector investment in critical economic sectors.

Program Directors work with their government counterparts to design and support implementation of transformative programs, and many of their government counterparts are prioritizing youth employment.

Program Directors are accountable to the CEO and are responsible for ensuring quality execution of programs; strengthening routine monitoring systems; leading evidence-based decision-making; and driving highly leveraged outcomes. Each Program Director will work on a variety of matters related to human capital development and contribute to programs in different African geographies.

Experience

To be successful you will need extensive experience with complex and large-scale program ideation and implementation, related to labour market interventions, value chain transformation, and public-sector investment, ideally in Sub-Saharan African countries.

You are most likely an economist, will have a good understanding of how governmental departments work (ideally with direct experience working within government) and have had significant interactions at high policy levels within governments, with proven experience in managing complex and politically sensitive relationships with different stakeholders. You will support the ambition of policy champions at national level.

Able to demonstrate methodical program oversight and management, you will need an exemplary work ethic with a drive for achieving concrete results from often complex environments. 

Knowledge wise we are looking for strong understanding of labour markets and development economics; excellent data analysis skills; project finance/private sector experience could be advantageous.

This role will suit someone who is used to working at the most senior levels and brings excellent people skills and highly developed communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills. Fluency in French and/or widely spoken African languages is desirable.

Successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.

Support and develop volunteering working in a local charity supporting older people

Age UK Richmond upon Thames is a local independent charity supporting older people across the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. We provide a wide range of useful and well utilised services designed to improve wellbeing and enhance independence – including information & advice; a wide range of social & wellbeing centres and sessions; support after hospital discharge; digital skills development; Dementia Friendly Richmond and home services such as handyperson, housekeeping and gardening. Partnership is a core part of our work – we work in close collaboration with other voluntary sector partners and wider organisations to maximise our impact and reach. Our friendly and committed team of 45 staff and 100+ volunteers support around 4,000 local older people each year. 

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team. Volunteers are an essential part of our organisation, and we could not deliver our services without them. This important role within the organisation will include advertising & promoting volunteer vacancies; ensuring the organisation provide excellent support to our volunteers and developing volunteering within the organisation.

We are looking for an individual with excellent administration, IT and communication skills with a real will to work with older people and volunteers. Experience of working with volunteers and developing volunteering would be highly desirable.

A proactive, flexible and positive approach is also essential.
