As the Member Networks Executive, you will play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and professional development within the professional community. You will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing various specialist interest groups and meetings, ensuring that they provide valuable opportunities for members to engage, learn, and network. You will use your excellent customer service and organisational skills in a busy role engaging directly with all levels of members.

Each week in the UK and Ireland, more than 30 children are diagnosed with cancer. Our network of dedicated professional members work together in treatment, care and research to help shape a future where all children with cancer survive and live happy, healthy and independent lives.

We fund and support innovative world-class research and collaborate, both nationally and internationally, to drive forward improvements in childhood cancer. Our award-winning information resources help lessen the anxiety, stress and loneliness commonly felt by families, giving support throughout the cancer journey.

We are a registered charity and fundraise for our important activities through campaigns, donations and family involvement.

Main purpose of the job

This role will be responsible for providing administrative support and coordinating activities for various specialist groups within the professional membership association. It involves supporting the Chairs, organising meetings, facilitating communication between members, and ensuring the smooth operation of the groups to enhance member engagement and satisfaction.

Main Roles

• To provide specialist legal advice and information on housing, welfare benefits, debt, and other issues as required by the service.
• To help improve the situation of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants through participating in policy work, campaign and developing networks and partnerships.
• To help improve LRMN’s delivery of legal advice and information service.

Specific Duties

• Act for clients where necessary by completing forms, calculating repayments, negotiating and/or advocating on behalf of clients, drafting or writing letters, advising on and preparing appeals and dealing with telephone calls and emails as required
• Maintain accurate and orderly client records
• Assist clients with other related problems where they are an integral part of their case and refer to other advisers or specialist agencies as appropriate
• Challenge/support with challenging decisions such as S.21 or homelessness (Senior Advisor)
• Represent clients at tribunals when necessary (Senior Advisor)
• Check whether clients are in receipt of all the benefits they are entitled to, and help them claim any relevant benefits that they haven’t claimed yet, or obtain increases if their benefits are not paid at the correct rate
• Support clients understand benefit decisions, and challenge them (where appropriate) by way of mandatory reconsiderations and appeals
• Actively update legal knowledge on housing, welfare benefits, debt and other related areas of law
• Develop partnerships and attend advice related networking meetings
• Contribute and participate in policy work beneficial to our clients
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of external agencies and changes in legislation, policies and practices and adapt and share this information as appropriate
• Adhere to LRMN’s casework management systems and procedures
• Implement corrective actions in a timely manner, particularly where these issues are identified through file reviews
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the team’s development

Personal Specification

Essential

• Minimum of 1 year (Advisor) or 2 years (Senior Advisor) of full-time experience of providing 1-1 specialist legal advice and information on housing and welfare benefits.
• Experience of working to strict deadlines and managing a heavy caseload.
• Experience of supporting asylum seekers, refugees and migrants.
• Knowledge/ experience of working in the not-for-profit sector.
• Understanding of key recent and upcoming changes on housing, benefits and other relevant legislations and the effects of these on our clients.
• Ability to work under pressure, to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Professional written advocacy skills within a legal environment.

ABOUT SMART WORKS 

Smart Works is a dynamic, high profile and fast-growing UK charity that dresses, coaches and empowers unemployed women for success at their job interview. After visiting Smart Works, 63% of clients secure a job within a month. 

The Smart Works service is delivered in 11 centres across the UK. Over the past ten years, Smart Works has helped over 35,000 women. It is our mission that any woman who needs our service should be able to find her way to a Smart Works centre. To achieve this, the charity is expanding and opening new centres in areas of need. ABOUT THE ROLE 

In early 2025, Smart Works will open a new centre in the city centre of Bristol. Opening a twelfth centre will make Smart Works services accessible and available to more unemployed women ahead of their job interviews. 

Smart Works is looking to appoint an experienced leader who is passionate about our work to lead the opening of the new centre. 

The successful candidate will work closely with the central Smart Works Charity team to establish the centre in Bristol. In practice the role will involve identifying a suitable location for the centre, recruiting a skilled volunteer team, establishing a supporter base in Bristol and building partnerships with local referral organisations, corporate partners and funders. 

Once in post, the Head of Bristol will appoint three additional staff members, building a founding team who will ensure the newest Smart Works centre is set-up for success. A founding Board of Trustees will also be appointed to provide local insight, expertise and support. 

Throughout, the Head of Bristol will work closely with the Smart Works Charity Head of Programmes and experienced central team. There is an established blueprint for opening a new centre that will guide the process, with central support covering Finance, People & HR, Communications, Fundraising, Wardrobe and Operations. 

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for someone who is a natural self-starter, enjoys seeing a project through from beginning to end and is passionate about supporting women into employment. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Appointing and managing a staff team of four and a volunteer community of over 50, ensuring all team members thrive in their roles and continue to develop their skills. 

Supporting each direct report with project deliverables and identifying continuous improvement opportunities in our ways of working. This work will sit across fundraising, service delivery and outreach work with referral partner organisations. 

Overseeing the establishment, set-up and smooth running of the Bristol centre. Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Officer for the Bristol centre, following established training, guidance and procedures. 

Acting as the day-to-day contact for the Smart Works Charity finance team, overseeing day-to-day spend and budgeting, contributing to reforecasting exercises and ensuring established processes are followed. 

Delivering financial activities to target, maintaining an up to date database with relevant income tracking and pipeline information to facilitate regular financial reporting to the Board of Trustees and timely process reconciliation with the Board Treasurer and Group Finance team. 

Championing the Smart Works service within Bristol, including supporting the team to raise awareness of the charity and increase the supporter community through social media campaigns and in-person events throughout the year.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES 

Essential criteria 

• Outstanding interpersonal and team management and leadership skills. 
• Experience of generating income from a variety of sources, ideally including the organisation of fundraising events and the submission of grant applications. 
• Demonstrable experience of securing new business and onboarding new partners. 
• A strong networker, with relationship management experience across seniority levels. Experience of balancing changing priorities and responding to delivery needs. 
• Proactive approach to problem solving, with an entrepreneurial attitude. Ability to work autonomously and also have a strong team focus and ethic.

As Prospect Research Executive, you will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy Research & Operations and the Prospect Research Manager to deliver the prospect research, pipeline management and information management function within Philanthropy and Partnerships. Key Responsibilities:
 

• Deliver high quality prospect research briefings on individuals, trusts and corporates for P&P, members of the charity’s senior leadership as well as senior volunteers and board members.

About the role:

As well as working with our managed service provider to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of our IT systems and processes, this role will play a key part in the successful delivery of IT projects (including network migration).

Initially, a significant part of the role will be to manage the migration of our on-premises network to the cloud. This will involve cross-team working to establish site structure and access. An overlapping project will be the implementation of VOIP telephony.

Working across the organisation, with non-technical staff, you will ensure that our IT infrastructure supports and enhances our charitable delivery. 

To succeed in this role, you will have excellent technical knowledge (particularly in Microsoft 365, integrations and CRM platforms) and experience in the IT function of an SME organisation (ideally one with multiple functions and different geographical locations). You will have demonstrable experience of identifying and delivering operational efficiencies.

We are looking for a Centre Coordinator to join our team in our Glasgow Centre. In this role, you will provide a warm and welcoming reception for young people, staff, and visitors over the phone and in person, so if you are approachable, passionate, and non-judgemental, this could be your role.

You will indirectly support young people by ensuring that our Glasgow Centre operates safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for managing delivery space, facilities compliance and controlling office equipment and supplies. Having previous administrative experience is beneficial but not essential.

To be successful in this role, you must have a good understanding of the challenges young people within our target groups face, to assist them when they arrive in our Centre. In this role no two days are the same, you get to be involved with many different functions of the Trust and interact with everyone who works in the Glasgow Centre, this is why planning and organisation skills are a must.

Working Well Trust is a mental health, learning disability and neurodiverse and employment focused charity in London.  All of our projects share the aim of improving the lives of people with mental health support needs, or who have learning disabilities and/or who are neurodiverse through training and employment.

This new role of People Lead will be working with our team to support their employment and wellbeing, as well as providing the key structure and systems to enable the Trust to deliver to our clients and funders.  Over the last couple of years we have expanded and although we are proud of how we support our clients and colleagues it is now clear that we need in-house support to ensure that this continues and to help drive improvements. 

As this is a stand alone post (ie you will be the only HR/People specialist) we do need someone who is experienced and CIPD qualified.  Experience of the charity/third sector is not essential nor is management experience. You will be reporting to the CEO but also be the key employee on the People and Culture sub committee which brings together trustees, including a HR professional, and staff to discuss and plan work priorities.

The Operations and Data Manager will be responsible for all donor analytics, prospect research, team coordination, and will be a critical partner to the Fundraising team. This role focuses on providing the essential data analysis and prospect research to continue building our major donor pipeline and base. It supports the fundraising team to effectively manage donor portfolios and the allocation of resources, whilst creating workflows to illuminate insights into fundraising progress, and additional systems-related projects.

• Collaboratively develop, launch, and administer a moves management process in line with Mission 44’s CRM that provides insights on movement of donors through the donor lifecycle; delivers qualitative and quantitative data on individual fundraiser activity; and other related reports

• Create reports / dashboards to inform the team and board on donor retention and attrition rates compared to industry standards.

• Maintain highly accurate and current donor data that effectively tracks key information, cultivation activities and histories, and solicitation and reporting calendars

• Prepare monthly and quarterly revenue reports, weekly giving reports, and various financial and fundraising dashboard reports for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors

• Work with fellow team members to facilitate regular (quarterly or monthly) lapsed donor reporting to provide team with actionable leads

• Regularly (quarterly) report on progress to goals and metrics, and overall fundraising activities to produce key insights and observe trends

• Oversee and manage guidelines and practice of the import and export of activities related to donor engagement (e.g. events and missions)

• Create templates and systems that make the fundraising team more efficient in their cultivation and stewardship

Donation & Data Management (20%)

• Process all gifts and ensure timely tax acknowledgment letters are sent to donors (within 48 hours of receipt of gift)

• Reconcile gifts with the Finance Department and support with the annual audit

• Generate various mailing lists for the Development Department

• Manage pledge payment tracking and reminders and follow-up processes for multi-year donors/gifts.

• Oversee and create donation/solicitation coding and prepare backup gift documentation

• Ensure all data entry is accurate and regularly checked for errors to maintain data integrity

Team Coordination and Administration (20%)

• Working closely with the Chief Growth Officer and Head of Fundraising, support the administrative planning and delivery of team strategy days, away days and other key internal meetings, including meetings with Mission 44’s wider ecosystem.

• Ad hoc support for annual events

• Create templates for emails and pitches to support donor cultivation

• Provide administrative support to the Fundraising Team, including calendar management, scheduling meetings, and travel arrangements.

Prospect & Donor Research (20%)

• Perform regular wealth screenings of entire donor base to maintain accurate and updated prospect data

• Develop and operate a process that proactively researches donors and prospects with ultra-high net worth to create a bench of qualified prospects

• Conduct donor and prospect research and analysis based on requests from the team and SLT, or before events and cultivation meetings

• Create data-informed prospect lists and profiles for major prospects and analysis to help fine-tune donor cultivation and relationships.

• Continually monitor industry standards and trends on prospect research practices to ensure practices remain ahead of the curve

• Manage relationships and contracts with CRM and donor/prospect research vendors and/or external contractors, regularly assessing new products and technologies

We are seeking a talented Director of Development (maternity cover), fully committed to our widening participation cause, to join our Senior Leadership Team. Working with the Chief Development Officer, the postholder will coordinate all aspects of the charity’s fundraising function, joining the leadership of a highly successful fundraising team to meet and exceed its ambitious fundraising targets (currently £13m per annum from donations, grants and university partnerships - and projected to rise each year as the charity expands its reach)

The main duties of the role

Working with the Chief Development Officer and Assistant Director of Development to oversee the charity’s fundraising operations, including:

• Leading the day-to-day active oversight and coordination of the charity’s fundraising operations (eg the management of prospect research and prioritisation, managing workflows, solicitation planning, ensuring effective stewardship of supporters, tracking and monitoring funding)
• Along with the Chief Development Officer and other members of the team, leading on fundraising bids, and supporting the fundraising team in their preparation of compelling and high-quality applications
• Supporting the fundraising team in the effective management and prioritisation of its prospect pipelines
• Ensuring effective solicitation planning across the team, from researching potential donors and the development of donor relationships, through to the design and implementation of solicitation and stewardship strategies
• Senior oversight within the fundraising team over the charity’s fundraising from Trusts and Foundations
• Ensuring effective stewardship of supporters is maintained and developed across the team
• Tracking and monitoring of funding, working closely with the finance team and ensuring that accurate records are maintained
• Coordination of the Trustee and Development working group meetings on fundraising, and implementation of agreed actions
• Managing a portfolio of strategic funders including high-net-worth donors, university partners and family foundations
• Taking on a leadership role on targeted fundraising campaigns, in particular in conjunction with university partners for multiple centres
• Working with the data protection team to ensure fundraising activities meet data protection requirements
• Developing and maintaining a donor communications plan
• Coordination of fundraising requests to the Senior Management Team
• Senior oversight of events, encompassing both fundraising initiatives and maximisation of stakeholder engagement and fundraising

To provide direction, expertise, guidance, vision and leadership through:

• Playing a fully active role on the Senior Leadership Team in the general management of the charity, ranging from taking forward the charity’s strategic planning through to responding to the unexpected and contributing to day-to-day decisions on operational and staffing matters
• Acting as line manager for members of the fundraising team, including (but not limited to) the Senior Partnerships Manager and Trust and Foundations Manager

About the Assistant Safeguarding Officer Role:

About the role

The Senior Communications and Marketing Manager will join the Trust at an exciting time and be responsible for providing first-class customer service to the local community who use this much-loved greenspace for rest, relaxation and exercise, as well as the promotion of the park as a unique visitor attraction.
