The Board of Directors is responsible for determining the overall strategic direction and development of the organisation through excellent governance and clear strategic oversight and planning, to ensure that AmplifyChange delivers the best possible outcomes. The Board of Directors ensures compliance with the legal and financial requirements under company and charity law.

The Board of Directors ensures the vision, mission and values of the organisation - to support grassroots organisations and build stronger, more inclusive movements for Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for all, especially in challenging contexts through grants for civil society, organisational strengthening of grantees, and knowledge for advocacy. We are now seeking a youth member to join our Board of Directors. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Attend quarterly and where necessary ad-hoc Board meetings including Members meetings and AGM (virtual)
2. Ensure the vision, mission and values as set out in the AmplifyChange Strategic Plan are upheld and implemented
3. Have oversight on the management of risk and ensure compliance and accountability with the governing document, external regulators and UK law
4. Approve policies and procedures to govern organisational activity, including guidance for the Board, staff, volunteers and contractors
5. Have oversight of the systems for reporting and monitoring results and impact
6. Ensure financial affairs of the organisation are conducted properly and are accurately reported
7. Ensure AmplifyChange applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its mission. For example, it must not spend money on activities which are not covered by the mission, however worthwhile they may be
8. Lead discussions and provide guidance on new initiatives, particularly in areas where the Director has specific skills, knowledge or expertise
9. Appoint the Chief Executive Officer and monitor their performance
10. Support external and internal communications to key stakeholders, grant holders, donors and staff, including representation at key conferences, meetings and events
11. Abide by AmplifyChange’s policies and procedures including the Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity policies, ensuring these are effectively implemented.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

·Young (under 30) with passion for and experience in area related to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights ideally in Africa or South Asia.

·Demonstrable experience in young people and youth networks for national, regional and/or international advocacy initiatives

·Demonstrable experience in young people and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) advocacy and programming

·Experience of working with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages, sexual orientations and gender identities

·Involvement in setting advocacy priorities and leading coalitions

·High integrity and driven by compassion and values that define and shape AmplifyChange - including a commitment to all aspects of SRHR and especially the right to safe abortion and LGBTI rights.

·Commitment to support an organisation working to secure full attainment of sexual and reproductive health and rights for all through building a stronger civil society, with diverse organisations who are resilient and work together to form movements for change.

REPORTING AND ORGANISATION

Role requirements and time commitment - Quarterly 2-hour (virtual) board meetings, with pre-reading.  Participation in additional conference calls as needed, and optional sub-committees. AmplifyChange Board members serve a 3-year term and can be eligible for re-appointment.

This is a volunteer position, but reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed.  

Trustees will be expected to work remotely.  Occasional travel may be required to Bath, UK.

Reporting to the AmplifyChange Members and working closely with the CEO, Grethe Petersen.

What is a Branch Fundraiser?

As part of a local team, our fundraisers represent SSAFA at events, and in public. The role includes helping at fayres, street collections, concerts, quizzes, raffles, sporting events etc.

Why do we need you?

We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.

There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.

SSAFA branches rely on regular charitable income to fund all the necessities behind our support for clients. This includes volunteer travel expenses, phone bills, publicity, and grants for clients in urgent need. A varied programme of fundraising also keeps the SSAFA profile high in the local community, so everyone knows who we are and how we can help.

When would you be needed and where would you be based?

This role involves being out and about at public events and would suit someone looking to give the occasional day, half day or evening to support SSAFA; when and where would be flexible to suit you.

What would you be doing?

• Be part of a team with collection/buckets tins at events, supermarkets, shopping centres, etc.
• Acting as a marshal at a public event e.g., handing out water to runners, supervising parking etc.
• Being part of a team running a stall at an event, Armed Forces Day, fayre, county show etc.
• Helping with putting up posters, building gazebos, serving refreshments, packing/unpacking cars etc.
• Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA, engaging people of all backgrounds and interests
• Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)

The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

The role: Our scholars are eager to meet graduates and professionals who can support them in achieving their ambitions. Mentors are mainly responsible for providing support and career advice to pupils. Mentors must also be committed to supporting us at our events, which take place in the evenings and on Saturdays throughout the term. These events include our scholar enrichment days, our parent and pupil information sessions and our volunteer social events which are held in London. 

Availability: Mentors must be available for approximately 2-3 hours a month to meet with their mentee, and discuss via phone, email or in person. There is a minimum commitment of one year (three terms).

In addition to this, you will need to support a minimum of 2 events throughout the year. Enrichment and skill-building events for our scholars usually take place in the evenings and at weekends, with events ranging from 2-8 hours in length.

Location: Mentoring sessions and events can take place online or in person.

Responsibilities: 

• Working collaboratively with parents to give students guidance and advice on how to achieve their aspirations

• Informing pupils of opportunities to them so that they can achieve their aspirations

• Meeting with pupils for one to one mentoring sessions

• Supporting pupils with university, sixth form or job applications

• Monitoring and reporting on each pupils progress

• Giving feedback to parents and programme coordinators

• Working collaboratively with other tutors and mentors

• Supporting at events including:

  • Collaborate effectively with other volunteers within the events team

Can you help us to bring in the funds we need to make the food bank a success? 

We are looking for a volunteer Fundraising Lead to play a significant role in shaping a fundraising strategy, help raise awareness of Bounds Green Food Bank (BGFB) and generate income through events, projects and fundraising activities.

We currently raise money through grants, individual donations and community projects. We would like to broaden our fundraising initiatives and are looking for someone to raise funds, meet fundraising targets, raise our profile with key funding partners, and inspire relevant groups to support us.

About Bounds Green Food Bank: 

Open since June 2020, we serve over 1,500 children and adults in the community. We are committed to improving lives by providing food and essential household items and helping alleviate household food insecurity. We strive to promote social inclusion by supporting people and families in crisis situations and needing assistance.

The role: 

• Work with the Board of Trustees to agree a fundraising strategy, including setting annual fundraising targets

• Help to develop a fundraising team

• Identify income-generating opportunities and develop projects

• Build, develop and maintain relationships to secure funding

• Provide guidance to other teams that support fundraising initiatives e.g. the Grants Writing Team, Events Team and the Communication Team

Person specification: 

• Passionate about food insecurity and reducing social isolation

• Experience working in a fundraising role, including grants, trusts and foundations

Are you passionate about fitness and would like to make a difference in the community? We are recruiting for an enthusiastic volunteer to facilitate online Chair Exercise sessions. This is an amazing opportunity to promote health, well-being and social interaction amongst others!

• Lead fun and engaging chair exercise classes online

• Encourage discussions and social interactions within the group

Our charity shops raise vital funds that support the wide range of services Age UK delivers, so if you have some free time available and would like to help, we’d love to hear from you! Whether you are looking to gain new skills and experiences, use those you already have or are just looking for a way to get out and meet new people, then we have flexible options to suit you!What will you be doing?

Volunteer Shop Assistants carry out a wide range of tasks in their roles. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, keeping our shop floor full and organised or supporting with raffle ticket sales and promoting gift aid.

How would you be supported in this role?

When you begin your role, you will receive a mix of e-learning and in-person training to get you started. Throughout the role, you will receive refresher training as required as well as ongoing support, reimbursement for role-related expenses and the opportunity to further shape the volunteering you do.

Why do we need volunteers in this role?

Age UK operates charity shops to raise funds for the delivery of services for older people in need. Volunteers play a key role in the shop team, ensuring our shops are welcoming places in the community and selling the items that are generously donated to our organisation.

Hours: We aim to be transparent about the time commitment required for this role. While we strive to balance the needs of the organization with respect for your time, we anticipate an average of 6 full days per year, in addition to a minimum of 4-6 hours per month. This includes attending key meetings, participating in essential activities, and contributing to ongoing projects. We expect in-person attendance at quarterly Board meetings whenever feasible.

Pay: Unpaid Volunteer role (reasonable expenses will be reimbursed for Board related work)

Duration: 3 years with possible extension.

UK-Med is a frontline medical aid charity. Born of the NHS, we’ve been working for over 30 years

towards a world where everyone has the healthcare they need when crises or disasters hit.

UK-Med invites applications to join our Board of Trustees from well-connected individuals with a track record of securing significant gifts for charities from individuals or corporations.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in networking and fostering partnerships with corporate and individual donors, trusts, fundraisers and other stakeholders. They will play a pivotal role in supporting our small but growing fundraising team to develop and deliver the UK-Med fundraising strategy and supporting fundraising efforts through networking, soliciting gifts and championing the work of the charity at events and meetings.

You will be passionate about what we do and committed to using your experience and expertise to contribute to the strategic development and good governance of the charity.
