Community Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services (CDARS) is a charity organisation that provides psychological and social support to drug users and their family members.

As part of this work, it has built a track record of working with service user representatives, service user Councils and networks and service user involvement teams. This includes creating a strong Volunteer, Peer Mentor and Recovery Champion network and supporting them through training, supervision and access to additional personal and professional development areas.

The WCDAS and RCDAS Treatment services, led by South London and Maudsley (SLAM), are a community substance misuse ‘partnership’ service that offers a broad and inclusive range of support and treatment options for those seeking recovery from Substance use. This includes access to medical, psychological, and sustained recovery sessions within the Boroughs of Wandsworth and Richmond.

The Community Involvement Co-Ordinator (CIC) will deliver positive and improved outcomes for service users across both Boroughs. This will include creating solid relationships with other partners within the voluntary and community sector (VSC), including Job Centres, Work programmes, local businesses, and employers, to improve outcomes for service users through enhanced re-integration opportunities within the local Community. Another focus of the post will be to manage the Community Involvement Worker (CIW) ,  who will work closely with the Manager to recruit, train and nurture peer mentors and service user representatives. This support will aim to build capacity and visible recovery across the boroughs. Both post-holders will help develop, train and nurture meaningful service user involvement through the Service User Council network and its representatives throughout the treatment system.

The post holder will need to work under the directives of the CDARS Wandsworth Management Team, with the objective of facilitating engagement in all aspects of service user involvement. The post holder will be expected to foster and develop good working relationships with staff at all levels within the partnership and establish good working relationships with other agencies, both voluntary and state, within the two Boroughs.

We're looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join us as Project Workers to join our Multiple Disadvantage Services across London. We have multiple positions available in services in Camden and Westminster to join our dynamic teams in providing tailored support to our clients with multiple disadvantage. 

As a Project Worker Multiple Disadvantage, your primary purpose is to provide comprehensive, trauma informed support to residents within a psychologically sensitive accommodation setting. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the wellbeing, safety and development of residents.

About the roles in our women's services in Camden:

In this role, you will be part of a specialist team working with women who have complex needs, including mental health challenges, substance misuse, offending behaviour, and physical health issues. You’ll use a gender-informed approach, ensuring that women feel safe, supported, and empowered. This role will give you the opportunity to provide personalised support, helping clients develop independent living skills, build social networks, and access external services.

Your day-to-day work will involve conducting needs and risk assessments, creating support plans, and facilitating group work and structured interventions as part of our in-house recovery programme. You’ll work closely with external agencies to ensure that clients receive the holistic support they need, with a focus on both harm minimisation and recovery.

About the roles in our multiple disadvantage service in Westminster:

King George’s is a 68 bed hostel for men with complex needs and a history of rough sleeping. It is part of Westminster City Council’s Rough Sleepers Pathway. Many of our clients are deemed high risk/high support due to chronic mental health and physical health issues, high levels of substance misuse, and offending histories. We accept that our clients have experienced complex trauma, usually from a very early age and often throughout their lives including currently. For this reason, we work to imbed the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) approach in a service. 

Reporting to the Manager, your role will require you to develop, support and motivate the people who we support and accommodate.We run a service that is creative, responsive and that provides a foundation which empowers people to achieve their aspirations and make positive and sustainable life changes. You will be crucial to making that happen. This role can make a real difference to individual's lives and crucially, support individuals many of whom face multiple disadvantages and have complex needs.

About you:

• A solid understanding of person-centred approaches, harm minimisation, and trauma-informed care.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships with clients, empowering them to engage with community resources and take positive steps forward.
• Flexibility, creativity, and resilience in working with a sometimes challenging and hard-to-engage client group.
• Proven experience and skills in delivering highly personalised assessment and casework, support planning, goal setting,  advocacy, and the ability to apply this in a caseload of clients who find it difficult to engage in formal keywork and where there are barriers to accessing statutory support.

Support Worker (Substance Misuse)

We are looking for someone mature, motivated and caring to provide tailored person-centred support to our residents in their recovery journey. If you have a heart to see people overcome substance misuse - to reset, recover, and restore their lives - please join our dynamic team.

You will be providing one-to-one and group support to men who are overcoming substance abuse issues, helping them to achieve their personal goals in all areas of life (behaviour, health, housing, employment, faith etc.). You will therefore have great inter-personal skills and the ability to implement firm but caring boundaries. In addition, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including updating care plans and risk assessments, writing progress reports for funders, and processing leave and visit applications.

This is a full-time, permanent role for 40 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends (part-time work could be considered for the right candidate).

As Complex Needs Practitioner you will engage young people in a variety of interventions, using a person-centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and achieve positive outcomes.

Birmingham Young People’s Service provides holistic support services for young people 10 to 25 with needs related to alcohol and substance misuse, including those that are affected by a family members alcohol and substance misuse.

Aquarius Action Projects, is looking for a Floating Housing Support Practitioner to join their team. Solihull Integrated Addiction Service (SIAS) is a partnership between four organisations jointly responsible for the delivery of the drug, alcohol, homelessness and gambling services, in the Borough of Solihull. We offer services for adults who use or are affected by substance use, homelessness and gambling.

Your challenge? As a Floating Housing Support Worker, you will be working with clients who are vulnerably housed or homeless, working in clients’ homes and various locations to support clients in addressing their substance needs, finding accommodation and being able to live independently.The service covers support for clients who are homeless and at risk of becoming homeless, as well as a more structured longer-term floating support service to enable clients to maintain their tenancies. You will understand the barriers clients face to accessing services, and the impact substance use has on sustaining accommodation.

To succeed, you’ll:

Recovery Practitioner - Lewisham

We have an exciting opportunity for a Recovery Practitioner to join one of the largest charities in the country on an initial temporary basis.

This is a rolling contract, where you would be required on site from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has dealt with substance misuse issues and is hoping to advance in their career with an organisation that will help them further their personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities:

· Assisting clients when they first join the programme and identify the best course of action for their recovery

· Minimising the harm that drugs and alcohol do to clients and the larger community

· Acting as an advocate for partnership services

· Assisting service users with their social (re)integration so they can live meaningful lives by encouraging self-determination, resilience and recovery

· Facilitate group sessions to provide service users with structured information at different phases of their recovery

Experience Required:

· Possess a thorough awareness of substance misuse issues or have previous experience working in a related field

· Possess a solid working understanding of drug and alcohol services, interventions, and best practices

· Capacity to successfully manage change while putting the interests of service users first

· Recognise the significance of information governance procedures and adhere to all required safety measures
