We are looking for a Graphic Designer (maternity cover).

We’re looking for a mid-weight Graphic Designer to work in-house to create artwork for marketing and communications campaigns across a wide range of media, including print, digital, animation, and video. Working under the direction of the Senior Graphic Designer and within the Communications and Engagement team, the Graphic Designer will work across a range of different projects supporting the priorities of the charity.

This is a 6 months’ full time maternity cover role. This role is also a hybrid working role, where 40% of the role will be on campus based.

Have you got experience developing visual identities for campaigns, working with brand guidelines, working as part of project teams, and developing creative from concept through to production? Are you proficient in using specialist software, video making equipment, and editing software? If the answer is yes, then we want to hear from you. 

Our ideal candidate will contribute on the application of our brand to all promotional collateral across a range of applications including print, digital, animation and video in line with our strategic objectives. The right candidate will respond to creative briefs promoting our services and activities demonstrating creative flair and effective use of layout, typography, imagery and colour. The successful role holder will also provide specialist and technical support to colleagues on matters relating to design and advise on brand application to support their marketing and communications activity.

This role is responsible for supporting the growth, planning and delivery of KCLSU campaigning and organising activity ensuring that elected officers, Academic Associations, Networks and students are enabled and empowered to create strategic, member-led campaigns. Support our members to develop, shape and deliver their agenda, providing advice, coaching and guidance on how to develop impactful campaigns and projects. Work as part of the Student Voice Team to embed campaigning and organising across all areas of our work ensuring that students from every segment of the membership are empowered to make change through campaigns. Enable our communities (Academic Associations, Liberation Networks and Student Representatives) to grow and develop into effective representative bodies.

Responsibilities include:

Growing, planning & delivering KCLSU campaigns

• Provide resources, support and mentoring to student officers and student campaigners, utilising digital and offline organising models of engagement, to support them to develop hard-hitting and effective campaigns.
• Coordinate and work with KCLSU teams to support representatives and members in delivering their campaigns and communicate the impact of campaigning at KCLSU, building interest and recruiting new activists as a result.
• Deliver a range of approaches to student voice engagement, developing diverse methods of participation and innovative practices for facilitating student decision-making, co-creation, and capturing insight.
• Work with external organisations to lead on KCLSU involvement in local, national and NUS campaigns.
• Responsible for measuring and reporting the impact of our campaigns.

Developing Student Representative Communities

• Support Networks, Academic Associations and Campaign groups on-going growth and development, supporting them to build inclusive, active, and intersectional student-led communities.
• Engage with representatives through coaching, building relationships and providing support as they develop and deliver their campaigning and organising agenda.
• Ensure participation in representation is accessible and inclusive, identifying and removing barriers to engagement particularly for low participation groups.

Leadership Development

• Create and deliver training, guidance and ongoing support for Student Officers, Student Representatives and Academic Associations, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.
• Build strong and nurturing relationships with student representatives and Academic Association leaders, coordinating effective engagement and regular contact with our members.
• Empower students – particularly those from low participation groups - to become student leaders and participate in KCLSU Elections.

A successful candidate will have:

Qualifications

• A good standard of education, ideally to graduate level or equivalent. (Desirable)

Experience

• Experience of working in a campaigning organisation or as a campaigner
• Experience of mentoring and coaching staff/elected representatives/volunteers

Role Description

We are looking for a senior leader, with extensive experience in education project and/or programme management, who can lead a fast-growing team within a mission-driven organisation. You will be a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, in particular working closely with the interim CEO, the Chief Operations Officer, the Director of Impact and the charity’s Senior Programmes Leaders. You will have direct exposure to the Board of Trustees and the unique opportunity to fundamentally shape the organisation and its direction.

The Chief Programmes Officer will be responsible for all aspects of programme delivery, including providing strategic direction and day-to-day oversight of the programmes delivery team, business development and stakeholder management with new partners in further education, and reviewing and improving delivery across all our programmes. You will work closely with the Director of Impact to refine and implement our approach to programme quality and impact to ensure we are providing the most effective programmes for the students we support. You will play a leadership role in the overall direction of the charity and work with the CEO, the Chief Operations Officer and the Director of Impact to ensure that the systems, processes, and ways of working for the Programmes Team are in place to ensure effective programme delivery.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Executive Leadership

• Working closely with the CEO, the Chief Operations Officer and the Director of Impact to provide overall leadership for the organisation, deliver the organisation’s new five-year strategy, and embed its values.
• Regularly updating the board on programme delivery and developments through participation in full Board and subcommittee meetings.
• Deputising for the CEO as needed, internally or externally, representing Get Further in public forums, with senior stakeholders, and with external organisations.

Business development and sales:

• Planning, leading and engaging in sales activity to ensure Get Further meets its goals for growth in terms of college partnerships and student numbers and secures new partnerships in key regions and areas for expansion.
• Line managing Senior Programmes Leaders, supporting their development and the delivery of KPIs with regards to college sales and renewals.
• Working closely with the Senior Marketing and Communications Officer to ensure a joined-up and impactful approach to sales and marketing, including through conference attendance and participation, social media, webinars.

Programme delivery:

• Strategic leadership of the Programmes Team (currently a team of 10 full-time staff), including ensuring that the team has the culture, working environment and professional development opportunities to ensure they are well-equipped to deliver high quality programmes and to meet our delivery KPIs.
• Overseeing efficient delivery of every aspect of each programme cycle, from liaising with the Chief Operations Officer to set and ensure achievement of targets for recruiting and training tutors, to leading the team to deliver on tuition logistics (including clear and timely student, tutor and college communications), and reporting on our impact to our partners in further education, ensuring programmes are high-quality and impactful for students and partners.
• Identifying and rolling out developments to programme delivery that help to improve our ways of working at scale, to enable the team to deliver now and in the future.

Programme quality and impact:

• Working closely with Get Further’s Director of Impact and the wider Impact Team to develop and deliver our processes for monitoring and evaluating the impact of our programmes, including communicating our results with existing and potential partners in further education to support the charity to meet its wider objectives.
• Ensuring Get Further’s approach to curriculum, assessment and tutor training continue to develop and improve with insights from our impact data, including line management of our Maths and English Curriculum Managers.
• Holding the relationship with Get Further’s subject advisory groups.

External relationships:

• Building relationships and our brand across the further education, charity and policy sectors.
• Leading on the delivery of a FE Advisory Group that provides advice and guidance to the charity to ensure programme delivery continues to move from strength to strength.
• Supporting with fundraising and advocacy as needed.

Person Specification

ESSENTIAL

• A deep interest and commitment to Get Further’s mission, including the drive to expand our work and the ability to articulate and pitch our programmes authentically.
• An excellent track record of sales within the education sector (minimum two years’ experience of directly selling programmes within education) and skilled in designing and delivering business development plans and/or marketing strategies.
• Extensive experience in leading and improving programme delivery, including the ability to galvanise colleagues to reach annual KPIs.
• Organisational and project management skills, to plan and make strategic decisions to prioritise and optimise time and budget.

Our long-term vision is a world where children benefit because talented people, who’ve already had successful careers, become teachers, and bring their skills and experiences to the schools that need them most. We support Now Teachers, training providers, schools and the wider education system to realise the full potential of career-changers in education. 

Career-changers bring new experiences into the classroom, but they often need support to complete their training and stay in teaching. ABOUT THE ROLE

Role overview

The Communications Executive will co-ordinate and contribute to the planning, implementation, and optimisation of all internal and external communications. This will range from attraction campaigns, public relations, and the internal engagement calendar and events.

The role will co-ordinate production of communications for target audiences from beginning to end – from planning, writing, and editing of copy to measuring effectiveness of communications. In addition, the role will have responsibility for the Now Teach website.

Role Description

• Manage and create content for community management, including social media and internal communication channels

• Create and maintain an annual content plan to applicants and career changers in our Network.

• Write and produce interesting and engaging articles, social media content, monthly newsletters, marketing emails and webpages that help people consider career change to teaching.

• Oversee the functionality of the website, evaluate, and manage website performance, facilitate hosting and server management, and develop, maintain, and update website content.

• Creatively drive our social media channels and blogs, increasing engagement and followers.

• Research topics and conduct interviews to write blog articles and create other content.

• Make sure content planning is informed by audience insight, finding out what topics resonate for applicants and career changers in our Network.

• Build relationships with Now Teach’s career-changers and the Programme team that supports them, enabling you to understand the experience of career-changers, identify remarkable stories and find the right person to tell them.

• Take responsibility for organising and promoting our attraction/public affairs events to meet sign-up and attendance targets.

We are seeking a Head of People and Operations to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is a multifaceted role, leading the people and culture agenda along with responsibility for the smooth running of our operations, including overall office management and managing our IT provider.

Reporting directly to our Chief Operating Officer (COO), the successful candidate will be both forward thinking and focussed on long term sustainable improvements as well as hands on, developing initiatives that will improve efficiencies and ways of working throughout FNF and will have proven experience in working in an operational role within a similar sized environment.

Principle Duties and Areas of Responsibility

People and Engagement

• Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team on the development and delivery of a people plan that drives engagement and performance. This includes proactively listening, learning and acting on feedback from our people engagement survey
• Lead on all aspects of HR, including recruitment, onboarding and performance management, staff benefits, leave allowances and mandatory learning.
• Responsible for managing our employee relations provider, ensuring that their service is fit for purpose and supporting all managers within the charity
• Work with our Occupational Health outsourced service to ensure that we are providing our people with an effective occupational health solution
• Create an approach to reward and recognition that celebrates success and encourages people to go above and beyond and making a difference for FNF, fully utilising our recognition platform
• Lead on the diversity, equity and inclusion agenda, ensuring that inclusion is considered throughout the employee lifecycle
• Work with our Marketing and Communications team to drive internal communications including our newsletter and team meetings
• Champion and embed the new values and behaviours across FNF, ensuring they are reflected in HR policies, practices and employee engagement initiatives to drive a positive and inclusive workplace culture

Policy and Governance

• Ensure that the people KPIs are monitored each month, looking at any themes and trends and associated actions
• Develop and maintain people policies and processes which are fair, transparent and comply with relevant legislation promoting FNF as an employer of choice.
• Maintain all employee records in line with regulation and organisational policy ensuring that all information is up to date and relevant
• Provide transparent and clear people and workforce information to the Board along with the relevant FNF committees
• Work collaboratively with our Finance team and Pension administrator to effectively manage the FNF salary exchange pension

Health and Safety

• Ensure that health and safety standards are met across FNF, this includes the communication of health and safety policies to ensure they are understood and adhered to
• Conduct regular risk assessments across all areas of FNF including office spaces, remote working environments and any other areas where the charity operates
• Establish and maintain an effective system for reporting, managing and investigating accidents, incidents and near misses
• Work with external partners to keep up to date with changes in legislation and to conduct the annual health and safety audit and ensure that any recommendations are implemented promptly

IT

• Act as the primary point of contact between FNF and the IT provider, ensuring clear and effective communication to ensure they deliver high quality services that meet our needs
• Review and manage the IT service contract ensuring that all terms and SLAs are monitored as well as considering value for money and service experience
• Manage the budget for the IT function at FNF
• Maintain an inventory of IT assets (hardware, software licenses etc) and ensure they are properly managed and documented. This includes the procurement and disposal of IT equipment as needed.

Office Management / Administration

• Partner with managed office provider to ensure that all services are delivered as per the contract, building a strong working relationship with the building and facilities team
• Ensure that the office environment is well maintained, welcoming and conducive to productive work
• Oversee the management of office supplies, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and ordered are placed
• Implement best practices in office management, including document management, filing systems and communication protocol
• To identify areas across the charity where processes, systems and collaborative working can be made more efficient, and support the team in implementing improvements

Person Specification

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

• Relevant professional qualifications in business administration or a related field would be desirable
• Previous experience working in a similar varied role ideally within the non-profit sector
• Demonstrable experience in reviewing and improving processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Previously managed HR activities such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management and engagement
• Experience in development and implementing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and best practice
• Knowledge of managing relationships with vendors, including SLA’s and contract terms
• Highly organised with strong multitasking abilities, juggling different pieces of work and meeting deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, interacting with people internally and externally

We are seeking an operational and people focussed Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Executive Team. You will drive development of all financial and operational management, processes and reporting, overseeing the organisation’s day-to-day operations including the leadership of Finance, People, Governance, Fundraising, Marketing and Communications and Digital.

The successful candidate will have held broad finance and operations positions, with a track record of interacting at Board level and presenting clear financial and management information. Whilst you don’t have to be financially qualified, we do need someone with strong financial acumen and demonstrable ability to monitor, interpret and communicate financial information effectively. You will have experience in implementing new and/or successful improvements to existing systems and processes, with a track record of driving organisational change. The post holder will have a good understanding of regulation and best practice alongside the ability to develop efficient processes and controls in line with our governance framework. Ensuring that people are at the centre of the Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) you will play a key role within the Executive team supporting the charity to achieve sustainable growth and delivery of efficient and effective services ensuring plans are developed and implemented, and targets are met.

Principle Duties and Areas of Responsibility

Operational Leadership and Governance

• Overall accountability for the operations of the foundation
• Oversee and optimise internal processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity
• Evaluate and improve overall performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and metrics
• Oversee robust risk management processes and protocols proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks
• Oversee the development of all necessary policies to ensure safe and healthy working environments
• Ensure FNF is compliant with all financial, tax, charity and legal requirements

Financial Management

• Oversee the development and monitoring of the financial strategy for the organisation, providing recommendations, information and guidance to the Trustees and Executive team to inform decision making
• Maintain and review polices and processes to ensure good financial controls are in place that meet both legal and tax requirements. This includes maintaining appropriate records and controls over restricted funds to ensure that these are used and reported appropriately
• Support the Finance Manager and Executive team in setting FNF’s annual budget, with robust analysis and justification of intended expenditure, financial forecasts, cashflow etc. securing active engagement and ownership from all internal budget holders
• Oversee the financial reports required to review progress against plans and forecasts throughout the year and ensuring these are disseminated and understood across the organisation
• Accountable for regular financial updates to Trustees including the Finance Investment Committee (FIC) and Board meetings along with the preparation of the financial aspects of the annual report and accounts
• Oversee the management and development of VAT reporting for FNF and trading subsidiary
• Oversee the financial aspect of FNF Global delivery to ensure compliance with HMRC

Systems and controls

• Lead in the development, implementation and monitoring of effective procurement systems and procedures, ensuring that FNF achieves best value and drives efficiencies through our external contracts
• Lead on the annual audit in accordance with current practice and the Charity Commissions Standard of Recommended Practice (SORP), liaising and managing the relationship with the auditors
• Oversee the operation of the payroll process and related HMRC contract ensuring that payments are made in an accurate and timely way
• Work with the Finance Committee to manage the investments for FNF, overseeing regular reviews of the investment policy and portfolio, liaising with external partners as necessary

Fundraising, Events, Marketing and Communications

• Provide leadership around income generation, making sure that this is located within the strategic framework and day to day thinking of the Foundation
• Provide leadership and direction for Marketing and Communications, ensuring that overall plans are in support of our strategic objectives
• Ensure all income generation activities from within this team are fully integrated across the Foundation, recognising the importance of inter departmental relationships
• Lead the team in the planning, communications, income generation and execution of the annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service and any similar high profile events.

Digital

• Provide strategic leadership in overseeing digital initiatives, guiding the development and execution of a comprehensive digital strategy

HR

• Provide expert professional judgement, advice, and guidance to the Executive and Senior Leadership teams in developing, monitoring, and implementing people strategies, policies and procedures, workforce and training that meet service needs.
• In partnership with the Head of Operations develop, communicate and implement the People and Culture Strategy.
• Support the ongoing development of a culture to enable the development of a workforce which is at the heart of the organisation, in which colleagues feel valued, safe, and respected.
