As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director of People and Culture will work in a spirit of mutual accountability with fellow directors, taking strategic leadership of Turn2us’s People and Culture Directorate. You’ll have responsibility for strengthening our culture and supporting all our people managers to attract, develop and retain colleagues who are committed to our values and guiding principles.
You will take proactive leadership of our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) work across the organisation so that we can become more inclusive and diverse, as well as oversee our approach to co-production, making sure that we centre the voices and insights of people with experience of financial insecurity in the design of all our work. Importantly, you will also provide rigorous oversight of our approach to safeguarding and our broader approaches to governance, risk, and compliance across the group – which includes our wholly owned care home business, Elizabeth Finn Homes.

AAFDA was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.
Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. Most of these families suffer significant problems including relationship breakdown, job difficulties/loss and mental and physical health issues. We help these families in many ways, our prime function being to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.
AAFDA (Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse) is a growing Charity and to meet the demands of this growth, we are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team in a highly rewarding opportunity. Although home based, some travel will be required - frequency will be commensurate to the role. We welcome applications from candidates with experience of domestic abuse. Through trauma-informed approaches, you will:
- listen to families and advocate for them in a complex system that too often treats them as passive participants and overlooks the value of their insight;
- provide information, support, guidance, advice and advocacy on Domestic Homicide Reviews, Mental Health Reviews, Inquests, Independent Office of Police Conduct inquiries and other types of Inquiries;
- manage families’ expectations of the legal and procedural processes facing them by supporting families in meetings with agencies such as health, police and local authorities;
- give families practical help on a wide range of issues - including help with letter writing or advocating with employers and local authorities on the families’ behalf;
- Support AAFDA in our bringing families together in AAFDA’s peer support events, such as the Hear Our Voice weekend and the on-line peer support Zoom sessions, where families can speak with others to share their experiences and stories. This will involve occasional evening work.
This role is offered on a full-time basis.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Community Education Officer plays an important role in both collaborating with communities to take part in shared learning and disseminating findings to wider audiences throughout the project, informing how it develops and boosting its impact. You will work in partnership with individuals and their communities, under the supervision of the Senior Project Manager as part of the education and advocacy programme. This will include cooperative identification of changes to the food system in Knowsley in the last century, engaging project participants in discussing those changes and raising awareness to wider audiences, supporting the project to achieve its aim of creating a shared understanding and celebrating Knowsley’s heritage and influencing strategies to shape the future of the borough, through sustained, quality engagement. You will support the Community Research Coordinator to capture qualitative and quantitative data that will inform reporting and contribute project monitoring and evaluation, participant outcomes and signposting groups & individuals to project activities with the aim of improving community participation & influence in our work.

How you will make a difference:
Amna is seeking a Social Media and Design Consultant on a monthly retainer contract to support our digital content strategy and enhance our online presence. The Sophie Lancaster Foundation is a registered charity established in memory of a young woman who was tragically murdered for her distinctive gothic appearance. Our mission is to challenge prejudice and intolerance, especially towards people from alternative subcultures, and to celebrate diversity within our society. Based in Haslingden, Lancashire, we have a large following both nationally and internationally and are a well-known presence within the alternative community.
We’re looking for a highly creative social media and marketing specialist to craft and deliver engaging content across our digital channels and spread our inspiring message of tolerance and respect to an even wider audience.
The Role
We need someone with professional social media and marketing experience who is passionate about driving the Sophie Lancaster Foundation forward. You’ll manage our social media presence, engage with our followers, and create new opportunities for conversation and audience growth. As a champion of our brand, we’ll look to you to ensure our communications are always spot-on. Your writing should shine across various platforms, whether it's website content, leaflets, or marketing emails. With a keen eye for design, you’ll create impactful social media posts and use both photography and video to boost engagement. Identifying ways to expand our audience and increase income is vital for our self-funded sustainability. Besides working at your desk, you’ll also represent the Foundation at events and festivals, becoming a key member of our small team. This role is offered as a one-year contract with the potential to be made permanent and has an annual leave entitlement of 25 days per year.
About You
You might belong to an alternative subculture yourself, or at the very least, you’ll understand and empathise with subcultural groups and champion cultural differences.
As well as being technically savvy, you’ll be fully engaged with our mission. Sharing Sophie Lancaster’s story is a privilege, and you’ll take pride in creating work that challenges hateful behaviours and inspires a diverse audience around the world. You’ll be a skilled organiser and administrator, who’ll be comfortable managing a busy diary filled with social media schedules, campaign deadlines and events.
Representing the Foundation is a key part of the role, so you will need to be self-sufficient in driving the company vehicle and transporting merchandise and presentation materials from our office HQ and into the event venue. Overnight stays are sometimes necessary. Please only apply if you’re based in the local area as remote working will not fulfil the in-person support required. Social media demands regular evening monitoring so if you are building a portfolio career and are not available in the evenings or don’t want to be disturbed, then this is not the role for you. Time in lieu is provided for work outside of your core hours and flexible working can be discussed.

Building networks and understanding what motivates our supporters, and aligning our activities with philanthropic interests, are crucial to our growth plans for this income stream. A primary focus of this role will be to identify potential donors capable of making transformational gifts. The post holder will work closely with the Trusts and Philanthropy Manager and Director of Fundraising, focusing on securing and nurturing long-term relationships with new major donors.
As a key member of our Fundraising team, you'll play a pivotal role in driving high value fundraising performance and making a significant contribution to our ambitious plans to reach more children and young people to help them to believe in themselves and shape the future they want and to tackle the structural and systemic issues holding young people back.

Digital Storyteller
Salary: £28,701 per annum - FTE (35 hours per week)
Contract: Fixed term for 2 years, with the possibility of extension
Combine your passion for nature with your digital skills! We’re looking for a talented communicator who can tease out stories from across the Trust and turn them into compelling social media content. You might be out and about across Cumbria, gathering content at our sites and with project teams, or in the office putting together videos and infographics.
You’ll need a strong understanding of the social media landscape and an ability to select and tailor content for different channels, finding ways to increase supporter engagement and reach diverse audiences. You’ll also be great at explaining your ideas – from the serious to the silly – and getting people involved.
Our ideal candidate is a first-rate copywriter with confident photography and videography skills. You’ll need to have experience with video editing and graphic design tools, and plenty of creative energy to keep our content fresh.
You’ll work closely with our Digital Engagement Officer and will have access to a training budget to help improve your skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Planning and creating content for our social media channels, to support the Trust’s objectives and communication strategies.
- Liaising with staff from across the Trust to understand the scope of our work and ensure that project communication requirements are fulfilled.
- Communicating effectively and consistently with staff and other key stakeholders to ensure engagement remains high and the impact of social media is clearly understood.
- Identifying opportunities to widen our reach and impact, from working with influencers to developing a Cumbria Wildlife Trust presence on new channels.
