Our Community Fundraisers are the face of Marie Curie in their local communities, building relationships and networks with a wide and varied range of supporters. From local businesses to local fundraising groups and everyone in between. Reporting to the Head or Deputy Head of Region and working closely with some of the most talented fundraising people in the charity sector, your role will be to provide support and guidance to people who fundraise and volunteer for Marie Curie across our regions, helping them achieve their ambitions and ultimately raise vital funds for Marie Curie. 

The Community Fundraiser role is one where you just don’t know what happens one week to the next as you never know who will choose to support Marie Curie in your community! 

The role would suit someone who can be flexible and react in a calm, measured manner to whatever the day brings, who is excited by potential and is ambitious, and who can deliver a high standard of customer service (supporter stewardship) to everyone they meet. 

Community Fundraisers are remote/hybrid based, with some presence expected at your local office or Hospice. It is expected that you will be based within or in close proximity to the region e.g. North London. For this role, the post holder will need to be willing to travel to Embassy Gardens (Embankment, SW11 7BW) occasionally. Due to the requirement to be London based, this post holder can choose if they opt to recieve an additional £3,500 LLW on top of the offered annual salary. If selected, the candidate will cover the cost of travel into Embassy Gardens themselves. 

This isn’t a role where you will be behind a desk every day, a good Community Fundraiser has a willingness to be out and about within your region meeting and supporting fundraisers.

About you:

This role is for you, if you have fundraising experience with grants and foundations as well as corporate fundraising and/or new business acquisition experience. This means you will have experience in stewarding and securing new gifts from foundations as well as researching new opportunities to apply for funds.

You will also be skilled in understanding and translating complex information and turning it in to compelling written proposals, for grants, corporate partnerships and major donors.

You will be driven to ensure that projects are delivered to the highest possible standards and be a sophisticated communicator with the confidence to build relationships with and inspire colleagues and donors.

The Head of Fundraising & Communications will operate as an effective member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO and acting as the strategic lead for the charity’s fundraising and communications activity.

Given the fluctuating nature of statutory income (currently c.75% of total income) it will be the responsibility of the Head of Fundraising & Communications to develop and implement a fundraising strategy that enables the organisation to diversify its income portfolio, ensuring a sustainable funding model that spreads risk and allows for greater donor engagement.

There is a blank canvas to be creative and try new things, with lots of scope for the successful applicant to determine where the network opportunities might lie, build long term relationships and develop an exciting programme of external communications and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate as an effective member of the Leadership Team, working collaboratively to ensure the delivery of organisational objectives.

Person Specification:

• Experience of working in a communications role/closely with communications teams to maximise the opportunities to engage externally and increase support/awareness.
• Creative approach to fundraising, with realistic ambitions within a small charity environment.

The role

As a member of the Fundraising Team, the post holder will work with the Individual Giving Development Manager on implementing audience focused fundraising campaigns that deliver long-term sustainable income, as well as mutually beneficial relationships with our supporters.  The post holder will maximise lifetime value and loyalty by delivering fundraising campaigns across multiple channels. The post holder will use evidence-based insights to create fundraising campaigns that increase our overall effectiveness. The post holder will be responsible for providing outstanding supporter experience and stewardship to TVAA supporters.

We have achieved significant growth over the last five years, largely through individual giving, legacies, major gifts, and some in memorial giving. We are keen to make a step change in our voluntary income, this is an exciting time of growth and opportunity at TVAA, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and creative person to join our team.

About you

This is a fantastic opportunity to become a key member of our fundraising team.
You will have experience of working in a charity fundraising or marketing environment and experience of supporting the planning and delivering of projects or campaigns using a variety of media. Experience in producing newsletter content, using social media for marketing and direct mail and digital campaigns would be advantageous, as would experience of dealing with customer or supporter queries. You will have strong communication, interpersonal and negotiating  skills and be able  to work to a multiple  of tasks at a time, and to be able to engage with a wide range of people is essential.

We are delighted to be working with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH) who are searching for a Senior Executive within their Mass Participation team. GOSH exists to transform the lives of seriously ill children giving them the best chance to fulfil their potential. GOSH’s fundraising income supports the research, care and advocacy that will have the greatest impact on the children and families they serve.

The purpose of this role is to project manage the development and delivery of third-party challenge events, including London Marathon and Great North Run, leading the team’s stewardship activity, delivering growth in voluntary net income and providing an exceptional supporter experience. 

To be successful in the role of Senior Executive, you will need: 

• Proven experience working in a fundraising environment, with event delivery experience, including volunteer management
• Experience in delivering best-in-class supporter journeys and working collaboratively with email, marketing and supporter care teams to support mass participation event participants
• Excellent relationship management skills, adept at securing and delivering high-value event partnerships

The Partnerships Development Officer will work as part of STEM Learning’s highly effective fundraising team, contributing towards their ambitious targets by securing additional support from existing network of funders and increasing the number of new corporate supporters for the ENTHUSE Charitable Trust.  They will with the team to build, manage and maintain a pipeline of prospects and ensuring timely progression through each stage from identification to stewardship. The post holder will engage creatively with existing and new funders.

What we offer
- This is a 2-year fixed term contract with the potential for an extension if the role delivers the expected outcomes.

Who we are
Rainforest Trust is a leading global organisation sponsoring the creation and expansion of protected and conserved areas, playing a central role in combating biodiversity loss and fighting climate change. We have already placed over 50 million acres under permanent protection across 72 countries, and recent surveys show that 99% of the rainforest we have protected since 1988 remains intact.

Rainforest Trust UK (RTUK) is set up as a separate charity to tax-efficiently raise funds from donors here in the UK for Rainforest Trust’s conservation projects. We are currently a team of seven people, but we are affiliated to, and supported by, the Rainforest Trust team in the U.S., which has a team of about 40 staff. In 2023 the global charity raised $46 million for conservation projects in Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America, with the UK charity contributing £2.2 million of this.

We currently work remotely, meeting up 2 days per month in London to work alongside each other in a shared office, or to run events for our supporters. 

Key Responsibilities (see attached job description for full list)
- Deal promptly with donations received on a daily basis, following our processes to ensure supporters are appropriately thanked.
- Respond to day-to-day enquiries from Rainforest Trust UK supporters via phone, email and post.
- Support the Fundraising Manager in sending communications to the donor base, utilising content from Rainforest Trust Global, checking for accuracy and ensuring all communications adhere to Rainforest Trust’s brand guidelines.
- Lead on the daily management of Rainforest Trust UK’s social media channels, including scheduling posts and responding to comments/messages.
- Be the main point of contact for fundraisers, schools and other community groups raising funds for Rainforest Trust UK.

Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements - You will be predominantly home-based (so you will need an excellent internet connection) and expected to commute to London two days per month to work in-person, alongside the team.

We are flexible as to how many hours this postholder works, and will consider a 4-5 day per week arrangement.
