We are seeking an experienced Impact Analyst to support The Seafarers’ Charity to evidence, report on, and communicate the impact of our grant-making.
The post holder is responsible for analysing and reporting on quantitative and qualitative data from our grant-making, monitoring and evaluation, and research activities. This role involves managing the ongoing monitoring, evaluation and reporting of our grant-making to showcase its impact.
Key responsibilities:
- To lead on the annual monitoring and evaluation process for all grant awards. Including requesting, reviewing and extracting relevant information to produce consolidated reports.
- To lead on reporting the impact of the work of The Seafarers’ Charity to an external audience and specifically, external funders. This includes regular reports on the Lloyds Register Foundation’s funding of the International Fund for Fishing Safety, amongst other projects.
- To contribute to the improvement of data collection and classification to magnify the charity’s ability to demonstrate and evidence its impact.
- To establish processes that support improvement in collection and collation of data and reporting on data.
- Sharing and publishing grants data using the 360 Giving Data Standard.
- To analyse, interpret and report on the impact of our grant funding programmes for internal and external audiences.
- To creatively translate data analysis into a range of communications (including reports, dashboards, insight reports and case studies) that are compelling to an external audience.
- To respond to colleagues’ requests for data, statistical evidence and case studies.
- Establish, uphold, and promote best practices and standards around data collection, data management, and statistical reporting, while utilising an equity lens and remaining compliant with GDPR

Due to expanding projects and workloads, an opportunity has arisen for a finance worker within our Transforming Churches and Communities team.
You will be responsible for supporting the bookkeeping functions for our clients, additionally liaising on invoicing, recharges, expenses, assessment calculations and billings, payments, and reporting. You will also need to maintain good financial control and governance, in line with relevant policies. Attention to detail, and responsiveness to client queries are essential. You will be the primary point of contact for the client. Our clients are frequently volunteers, and so demystifying financial processes and explaining them clearly is a vital skill.
As an organisation, we work predominantly with the Methodist Church of Great Britain, although not exclusively. Personal adherence to the Christian faith is not required, although you will be required to be respectful of the faith of others.

The Head of Philanthropy will secure and cultivate major donor relationships, growing our existing giving programmes and helping to deliver our overall fundraising strategy. With the Development Director, they will continue to build our prospect pipeline to support Assisted Places fundraising.

Through a successful funding application to The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we have been awarded £177,513 funding to deliver a Resilience project called ‘Reconnect’. The University of Essex is excited to have formed a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the Minstead Trust. The Minstead Trust is a charity based in Hampshire, which works in collaboration with people with learning disabilities and their family carers, to enable them to achieve greater independence and live happier and healthier lives. One of their main areas of work is accommodation support. As they transition into adult accommodation support services, adults with a learning disability, their family carers, and Minstead Trust accommodation support staff form a tripartite relationship through which support is planned and delivered within the Minstead Trust. However, to date practices in support provision have differed, leading to miscommunications, relationship difficulties, and some areas of inconsistency and discontinuity in provided support and living circumstances. There are also often difficulties experienced during the transition from child to adult learning disability services. These are sector wide issues, which ultimately impact service users’ participation in the various activities and occupations that provide meaning, purpose, and routine within their everyday lives.
The KTP will last for 24 months and utilise a participatory action research (PAR) approach to engage relevant stakeholders who comprise and surround the tripartite relationship described above. Together they will co-produce, implement, and evaluate distinct new ways of working. These new ways of working will revolutionise engagement between adults with learning disabilities, their family carers, and Minstead Trust staff, and lead to improved experiences for all stakeholders.
As a KTP, the KTP Associate role constitutes more than just the completion of a research project, as the focus of the role is to facilitate knowledge transfer between the University and the Minstead Trust. A key objective is that the KTP also embeds the capability of co-production within the Minstead Trust through staff engagement and support. Co-production involves partnership working towards a mutually defined aim, where everyone connected with an issue plays an active part, and existing skills, experience and knowledge are valued and utilised (Pettican et al, 2022).
