Status, hours: Permanent, full-time

Salary: Grade D, salary in the range of £31,437 - £34,659 (includes 11% London Weighting), increases by 2.6% post April 2025, plus benefits.  

Role Summary

The Community Fundraising Officer will work closely with the Senior Community and Challenge Events Manager and wider Fundraising team to deliver significant elements of the charity’s fundraising strategy, particularly our community fundraising products. The post holder will be responsible for driving forward our community fundraising campaigns – including the Dry January® challenge community fundraising campaign, which has substantial reach and yet untapped potential.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Fundraising and managing relationships  

• Build strong relationships - to support delivery of our strategic targets with energy and enthusiasm that will inspire supporters to go the extra mile with their fundraising efforts for Alcohol Change UK.

• Keep up to date in sector trends, especially in Community Fundraising, and feedback to the broader fundraising team.  

• Contribute to the charity’s Fundraising Strategy, in relation to community fundraising.  

• Work with 3rd party agencies as part of the Dry January® challenge community fundraising campaign. 

• Build on the foundations of our new ‘Make it Orange’ and ‘Rise and Raise’ community fundraising campaigns, to grow them into successful fundraising initiatives.

• Work with the Communications team to keep the community fundraising pages of the website up to date, and to create and promote digital fundraising resources.  

• Work with the Communications team to create social media content and engaging adverts and campaigns.  

• Develop and deliver recruitment campaigns across multiple channels.  

• Create materials to support our community fundraisers.  

• Engage and inspire staff and volunteers to share and support our community fundraising initiatives.  

• Maintain effective communications and good relations with donors and volunteers, keeping them updated on our work and achievements.  

• Update our fundraising database, ThankQ, ensuring accurate and useful recording.   

• Ensure all community fundraising activity is fully compliant with legal, regulatory, and organisational standards.   

Cross-organisational Role   

• Work closely with colleagues across the charity to support their work and to act as ‘one team’.   

• Work closely with colleagues in the Communications team, optimising opportunities for joint working, especially to champion the community fundraising campaigns to maximise their potential.  

• Contribute actively and positively to charity-wide strategies.   

• Work with the fundraising and engagement team and wider organisation when launching community fundraising campaigns.

Other Duties    

• Continually develop your knowledge of alcohol harm and solutions to it.  

• Always act as a positive ambassador for Alcohol Change UK.  

• Know, embrace and actively uphold the values of Alcohol Change UK.  

• Undertake other tasks as required by the Senior Community and Challenge Events Manger, Head of Fundraising or Executive Director of Fundraising and Engagement. 

• Work flexible hours as necessary to meet the needs of the charity. Time off in lieu will be earnt for work outside of normal working hours.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team. The Legal Counsel is responsible for advising and challenging senior colleagues, ensuring the provision of sound legal advice and guidance. They will oversee legal compliance, manage legal risk mitigation efforts and take ownership of legal processes to enable the smooth operation of our organisation.

This position will take accountability for developing and implementing the charity’s legal strategies, ensuring that legal risks are proactively identified, managed, and mitigated effectively.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Compliance and Regulations

· Take ownership of monitoring and advising on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the charity, including but not limited to charity law, data protection, health and safety.

· Oversee the development and execution of strategies to address legal risks, obligations, and opportunities.

· Ensure compliance with applicable legal frameworks, to include the creation and maintenance of a legal register.

· Proactively identify, monitor, address, and report on legal (and where appropriate other business) issues of significance.

Contracts

· Take responsibility for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts including, but not limited to commercial, research, collaboration contracts and service agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and mitigating potential risks.

· Oversee the provision of timely and pragmatic legal advice on matters of contract law, intellectual property rights, employment law, governance, and other relevant areas, ensuring alignment with our organisational goals.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

· Take ownership of managing legal disputes, litigation, and other legal matters, ensuring effective collaboration with external counsel to safeguard the charity’s interests.

· Identify and address legal risks proactively and escalate more complex legal matters when appropriate.

· Provide specialist advice to ensure foreseeable legal risks are effectively identified.

Stakeholder Engagement & Training

· Be accountable for establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders, overseeing the integration of legal input into decision-making processes.

· Take responsibility for developing and delivering training sessions and workshops to ensure employees and stakeholders are well informed on legal matters, contracts, policies, and procedures.

· Establish and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

 

What we are looking for:

· Qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK, with a current practicing certificate, sound legal training in a well-regarded legal practice, and relevant post-qualification experience in-house and / or in private practice.

· Strong knowledge of contract law, and the drafting of agreements, negotiating contracts and developing compliance.

· Strong knowledge and understanding of UK legal frameworks, regulations, and compliance requirements applicable to charitable organisations.

· Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and accessible advice to non-legal stakeholders.

· Extensive demonstrable post-qualification experience.

· Solution focused, pragmatic, and able to apply legal knowledge and good practice in day-to-day work.

· Able and prepared to quickly develop a good understanding of new legal areas and issues which affect the organisation.

· Able to recognise when more complex and serious issues arise and escalate appropriately.

· Proven ability to independently lead initiatives, oversee multiple priorities and ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.

· Proficiency in MS Office 365 and other relevant software applications.

· Proven drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Strong ethical standards and a high level of personal integrity.

· Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks, develop effective solutions, and to exercise good judgement / initiative in a variety of situations.

· Confidence in presenting / communicating to groups of people and / or senior leadership.

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

We are looking for an individual to undertake the role of Head of Operations at MASH for a 12-month period. The role requires experience in retail, ideally working with young people with learning differences, alongside strong leadership and commercial skills.

We are seeking an exceptional operational leader, with a commitment to rigour and excellence, with passion and determination, to help us build the success of this exceptional destination in the heart of Manchester. The Operations Director is the key point of contact for all teams and departments in assessing the practicalities, operational logistics and risk implications of events and activities taking place within Aviva Studios and in the public realm.

The Operations Director will lead on management of operational risk across the organisation including H&S, Emergency Planning, Disaster Recovery and Fire Safety. They are the driving strategic force behind the Visitor Welcome shaping the Visitor Experience Strategy, overseeing the Visitor Welcome Team and contract management of our external security partner.

The Operations Director will ensure that efficient operational systems and controls are in place to manage Factory International @ Aviva Studios’ Day to day activities, ensuring also that the company’s operation and it’s building is safe, compliant and can help deliver the objectives of the business and the welcome we extend to all our visitors.

Through management of the Facilities Team, they will be accountable for planned preventative maintenance programme, reactive maintenance and act as senior contract liaison with the third-party Facilities Management partner (CBRE).

The Operations Director will work closely with creative, design and event teams to oversee the uniquely dynamic social spaces at Aviva Studios, reflecting the changing seasons and needs of different events and productions, while considering the commercial requirements of the site and working proactively with the Commercial Teams to drive revenue across the venue.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Venue Operations
Accountable for all aspects of Aviva Studio operations – inputting into strategic planning and programming schedule, guiding the organisation on legislative and regulatory compliance, and ensuring standard operating procedures and manuals are regularly updated and relevant licences and consents are in place.

Oversight of the reactive and preventative maintenance strategies and ensure that the venue is presented to the highest standard for the public, artists and those working there.

Event & Programme Delivery
Bring high level expertise and insight to the scoping and planning of the varied events that make up Factory International’s programme. Lead on compliance, risk mitigation, safety and operational best practice to support delivery of the in-venue and Festival programmes.

Support delivery of commercial initiatives through close engagement and operational planning with the Commercial Teams and the Food & Beverage partner.

Visitor Experience
Drive the design and ongoing development of the Visitor Experience Strategy.  Leading the Welcome teams to deliver a generous, warm and inclusive welcome.

Accountable for the presentation and ‘look and feel’ of our venue and public realm at Aviva Studios, collaborating with colleagues to strengthen the commercial performance and overall destination appeal of the venue and site.

Maintain the safety and security of visitors, through the management of risk, overview of security strategy and through close work with the Head of Welcome on staff and volunteer training programmes.

Emergency Planning
Accountable for the ongoing development of major incident, business continuity and emergency plans, including disaster recovery, Fire Safety and counter terrorism.  Ensuring end to end processes are compliant, fully trained in and communicated to all staff.

Work closely with the Director of Audiences to refine the Crisis Communications plans ensuring consistency and alignment across a range of incident scenarios.

Security
Accountable for the delivery of the security strategy and to actively manage the outsourced security contract. Lead on procurement for renewal or additional third-party security services.

Health & Safety
Responsible for building out the Health & Safety policy and organisational delivery plan including accident reporting and investigation processes and first aid provision.

As Chair of the H&S Steering Group, ensure that all plans and policy are communicated and trained to all staff and stakeholders. Maintain compliance through regular reviews.

Keep up to date with any changes in Health & Safety legislation and provide reports to the Executive Director in order that the Board and CEO can exercise their full oversight responsibilities.

Insurance, Risk & Contract Procurement
Identify risk and manage mitigation for Aviva Studio operations including managing the organisation’s insurance broker relationship and ensuring adequate up to date cover.

Lead renewal negotiations or retendering process for key service partners e.g. cleaning, security and facilities management contracts, ensuring favourable commercial terms and alignment with Factory International values.

Support the Executive Director and CFO in refining the Company Risk register, contributing to quarterly updates shared with the Executive Leadership and Board of Trustees.

Stakeholder Relations
Strengthen key external stakeholder relationships ensuring FI is positively represented at all relevant meetings, including: Manchester City Council, blue light agencies, St John’s Estate and local business and resident forums.

ESSENTIAL - Experience & Skills

- Comprehensive experience in managing venue or site-based operations with proven ability to work at a senior level within a complex organisation, to lead, inspire, and motivate a diverse team within a fast-paced operational setting

- Ability to drive forward our unique visitor experience, ensuring a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment and delivering consistent quality and accessibility for all

Carers’ Hub plays a vital role in Lambeth, supporting the many unpaid carers across the borough with 1-1 and peer support, signposting, monthly forums, training, workshops and social activities. We are a charity with ambition, a big heart, and an outsized impact.

The Young Carers Service supports young carers aged 5 and up who care, unpaid, for a friend or family member who has an illness, disability, mental health or drug or alcohol problem.  Some caring roles are big, others small.  Either way, we’re here to help.  

 Adventure, friendship and support are super-important for young carers, so we split our work into three areas:

1. We organise a mixture of exciting activities throughout the year

2. We run monthly young carers groups – a space to relax and have fun

3. We provide a listening ear and relevant help to young carers and their families

In  addition to our core offer to young carers, the service also runs a dedicated young adult carers project and two projects supporting young carers aged 11 - 16 with their education. The Young Carers team also undertakes young carers assessments and supports young carers with short-breaks.

The Role:

We believe NRPF should not exist and we are working to end it. Until then, we seek to minimise its impact by supporting people to make the ‘change of conditions’ (CoC) application to access public funds. We are a small organisation which has achieved national systemic change through the clear strategic focus of our casework. As the number of people affected by NRPF continues to grow, we are looking to take our casework service to the next level so that we can support more individual applicants and deepen our impact.

As Legal Casework Manager, you will oversee the casework process from start to finish, prioritising compassionate and effective support to applicants and ensuring we meet all regulatory requirements, while also holding a limited personal caseload.
