Islamic Relief UK (IRUK) is actively recruiting for the position of ‘Community Fundraising Officer – London & South’ to be based from its Whitechapel Office, London. The organisation is currently operating to a hybrid working model.

The purpose of the role is to support the Regional Community Fundraising Manager in fulfilling the organisational objectives of developing and optimising on community fundraising and volunteer initiatives.

The successful candidate must have:

• Experience in establishing and developing relationships with key stakeholders
• Experience in project coordination i.e. events and campaigns 
• Experience of organising and supervising events

The role

This role is crucial in our efforts to become a feminist, anti-racist, and decolonial organisation, and to promote a world where women and girls are valued and can exercise their rights to economic security, wellbeing, safety, equality, and voice.

This will involve working with girls to bring about the change they want to see through their research findings.

A key purpose of the technical advisers in the team is to provide policy, advocacy and influencing advise and technical advice to support resource mobilisation and programme quality (when expertise is not in the Federation). Another key purpose of this role is to strengthen AAUK’s reputation as an organisation taking an intersectional feminist, evidence-informed, and decolonial and anti-racist approach to girls’ rights’ research and action, programming and resourcing.

The post holder will have strong, practical experience in developing, supporting, and evaluating the impact of intersectional research led by girl and programming on Girls’ Rights in particular programming that supports adolescent girls’ leadership, reproductive health, prevention and response to harmful practices impacting girls (including early forced and child marriage and FGM/C), gender equality within schools and communities, girls economic rights, and community mobilisation to prevent and respond to violence against women and girls.

With a high level of corporate interest and a competitive sector for fundraising, you will be skilled at prioritising potential funders and opportunities. Your passion for the environment and urban communities will bring their energy and enthusiasm to compelling funder communications. Your organisation skills will enable you to manage and deliver funder requirements in line with accounting, fundraising and legal best practice.

This role will work closely with the Fundraising Director to maximise corporate partnerships and align with fundraising across income streams.

This role sits within the Fundraising Department and will lead the corporate partnerships team r to deliver a high-quality corporate fundraising programme.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference and has a proven track record in writing successful high value fundraising proposals. You will have experience in securing significant donations from major donors, charitable trusts, and/or corporate donors. Your ability to translate technical programme information into compelling supporter communications for different audiences will be crucial in this role.

As the Proposal Writer and Grant Specialist, your role will be central in securing income from high value donors (worth £100K+ per annum), that fund some of our most critical work. This will involve developing and writing high quality proposals, concept notes and reports in line with our organisational priorities. As part of our internally-focussed Strategic Funding Team you will work closely with colleagues across our federation to ensure we are presenting the highest priority and most strategic work to our donors. This will involve setting up new projects, establishing log frames, monitoring and evaluation frameworks and grant management, reporting schedules, and keeping donor-facing account managers informed on progress. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to improve team practices, support the design and roll out of templates and training, and embed grant management systems. You will also be responsible for encouraging standardisation  across teams in AAUK, managing requests and communications to colleagues in Federation Member countries, and ensuring donor communications systems and processes are up to date. Other responsibilities include sharing best practices, writing compelling human interest stories, managing a personal portfolio of restricted grants, and delivering capacity building workshops. Background:

Street Child believes that every child deserves the chance to go to school and learn. Our projects focus on a combination of education, child protection and livelihood support to address the social, economic and structural issues that underpin today’s education crisis. We partner with local organisations and communities to deliver our locally rooted programmes, using evidence to drive learning and the refinement and scale up of programmes to create maximum impact for the most children at the lowest cost. We pride ourselves on being willing to go to the world’s toughest places where others won’t, including remote, hard-to-reach areas and fragile, disaster-affected states across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Since 2008 we have helped over 250,000 children to go to school and learn and supported over 25,000 families to set up businesses so they can afford the cost of educating their children.

Part 1:  Role Purpose:

This role is a key member of the busy HQ finance function. Although the role is primarily focused on the HQ finances, the role operates within the context of Street Child as a global charity and so also has interaction with the global finance team. The role offers the chance to work across a number of finance functions, and some of the subsidiary charities. It is essential that the applicant can juggle the complexities of a busy role with has varied work priorities. Key stakeholders are the HQ Finance Manager, Finance Director and the HQ based fundraising team. The role works alongside the Finance Assistant and plays a role in oversight and coaching of this role.

Part 2:  Key Responsibilities:

1) (40%) Deliver all functions related to Accounts Receivable

• Ensure that all income from a variety of different sources is correctly and accurately recorded in the finance system and CRM (which is under development) on a weekly basis.
• Supporting with work on accounts receivable including accessing, downloading and saving in a systematic manner reports from donor portals, bank account and other sources.
• Working with colleagues in Fundraising to analyse and code income reports in Excel and uploading it to the Finance system on a timely basis, at least weekly.  Following up on how to code any income which is not allocated to a source.
• Working closely with colleagues in Fundraising to ensure prompt collection of outstanding balances from customers, and sending out monthly debtor balance statements. 
• Raising donor invoices and requests for payments, and issuing donor receipts.
• Income and customer account reconciliations and revaluations.
• Any other responsibilities relating to Accounts Receivable.

2) (20%) Lead the Accounts Payable process

• Whilst the Finance Assistant is responsible for all payments, the Finance Officer has a lead role in ensuring that all invoices are paid on time, in an efficient manner and that the finance system reflects the transactions within the correct accounting period and correctly coded in the system – including account code, cost centre, project code and donor code.
• Determine most efficient payment platform to process international payments, and ensure that recorded in the finance system at the correct conversion rate.
• Be a point of contact with the Foreign exchange agents to quickly resolve any questions.
• Work with the Finance Assistant to ensure accurate and timely recording of all approved supplier invoices, requisitions, staff expenses and other expenditure in the accounting system and that all supporting documentation for all transactions are uploaded.
• Managing at least two payment runs a week and additional runs as required; ensuring that all invoices for payment are correctly approved by the budget holder, setting up payments on online banking platforms and sending out requests for payment approvals to payment authorisers and verifying that all payments are fully approved in the banking platforms by the deadline set.
• Once the payment is made, allocating the payment against the invoices in the Finance system.
• Reviewing staff expense claims to ensure that all supporting documentation is provided before payment.
• Managing monthly staff credit card reconciliations and ensure that these are returned on time with all receipts and invoices and checking and reviewing classifications, with follow up as required.
• Carry out monthly Creditor account reconciliations ensuring that all balances are valid and backed up with appropriate supporting documentation.
• Fully deliver the set up all payroll payments in time for the monthly pay day.  This involves ensuring correct amount and currency of payment (which may differ from the salary of the individual’s employment contract) and method of payment across all HQ staff.
• Any other responsibilities relating to Accounts Payable.

3) (40%) Month end reporting and reconciliation and subsidiary accounts

• Complete all balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and petty cash reconciliations and submit for approval by HQ Finance Manager.
• Once CRM system is in place, undertake reconciliation processes between finance data and CRM data.
• Carry out monthly revaluations of bank accounts.
• Ensuring supporting information for transactions is correctly stored in electronic format on Teams such as bank statements, remittance advices, credit statements.
• Assist in preparation of internal reports, including working with Operations Department and Finance department to review their monthly reports.
• Take responsibility to deliver the management accounts of two subsidiary companies: Children in Crisis and HQ transactions of Africa Educational Trust.

The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe.  

Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted. 

We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants, and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, and fish. Purpose of the Job

Volunteers are a crucial part of key aspects of The Felix Project’s work including in the operation of our depots, volunteering in the warehouse or as drivers. The Volunteer Manager position is therefore a key role; working as part of the Volunteering team and collaborating with the rest of the Deptford depot team to plan for, recruit, train and support volunteers.

Reporting to our PR Lead, the PR Manager will play a crucial role raising the profile of Save the Children UK amongst key target audiences, by developing and delivering projects that command media attention and coverage.

As a key member of the PR, Artists & Broadcast team, the appointee will apply their experience working with the media to shape major income- and influence-generating campaigns and build our brand.

You will also work alongside a wide spectrum of internal and external stakeholders, including high-profile ambassadors, influencers and corporate partners.

The PR Manager's key duties will be:

Strategy and Project Management

Work closely with team members in other departments within Save the Children to provide excellent PR support to develop and execute creative ways to deliver on Save the Children's objectives. Delivery to include:

• Brand – Build high profile and positive perceptions of Save the Children and its cause across all audiences via PR. Communicate our brand promise and build understanding with the public and opinion formers, demonstrating the depth, scale, impact and complexity of our work.

• Campaigns – Provide PR support to deliver across high–profile moments across Save the Children's major campaigns such as Christmas Jumper Day in order to achieve mass audience engagement.
• Compelling storytelling - Engage audiences through impactful child-centric stories, championing children's voices in order to empower the communities we work with.
• Reputation management – Support the wider team to protect Save the Children's reputation and identify issues relating to corporate risk management.

Delivering Media Coverage

• Develop and execute mass-market PR plans that amplify key strategic campaigns and initiatives across the calendar year, including brand, fundraising and advocacy priorities.
• Identify and maximise opportunities to generate reactive media coverage, responding effectively to external events, news and the cultural conversation.
• Write, co-ordinate and issue media releases, statements, briefing materials and Q&As, including for high-profile spokespeople and corporate partners, if required.
• Plan, manage and participate in overseas and UK trips to Save the Children programmes for the purpose of generating coverage and content – including hosting journalists and high-profile supporters.
• Commission and manage multimedia crews and organise PR shoots, with the purpose of generating world-class film and photography content that commands media attention.
• Develop and nurture close working relationships with journalists (especially those on features, women's, lifestyle, showbiz outlets) across print, digital and broadcast media - including a diverse range of outlets beyond mainstream media.
• Leverage social media and new technologies develop digital-first PR campaigns, including influencer activations.
• Represent Save the Children as spokesperson externally, networking and building relationships that support brand building activity in the media.
• Take part in the on-call and out of hours media rota. This will see you handling media enquiries and proactively pushing out stories on the weekend and out of hours during the week.
• Support PR Leads and Head of PR, Artists and Broadcast as required in the smooth-running of the team, including chairing meetings and carrying out administrative tasks.

About you

To be successful in this role, it is important that you have: 

• Experience working in a busy, high-pressure Press Office, Public Relations agency or in-house.
• Experience developing and executing PR strategies, including across multiple media platforms and involving different stakeholders.
• Excellent personal contacts with journalists, PR and Marketing professionals.
• A track record of success in obtaining media coverage in a variety of outlets for PR initiatives, backed up by portfolio of coverage.
• Outstanding ability to pitch stories to key external contacts and senior media professionals.
• Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas, often at short notice.

Abilities:

• Exceptional organisational skills, including ability to juggle short-term projects with longer-term ones.
• Sound strategic thinking and planning skills, including ability to manage time effectively and set deadlines.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to express self clearly, persuasively and a cohesive way and tailor communications to different audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and make decisions on what to prioritise when working under pressure on a number of projects.
• Excellent writing skills – including writing compelling press releases, features and comment pieces.

Ways of Working:

The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter).  This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team and is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.

The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe.

The Felix Project is a dynamic, ambitious charity working to make London a city where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.

We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it free of charge to over one thousand charities across London. Here at Felix’s kitchen we turn some of that surplus food into Felix Meals, ready to eat meals which go out to people all across London. Are mantra for these meals is, nutritious & delicious food which not only feeds but hopefully brings a smile to the face of our consumers. .

We were founded in 2016 in memory of Felix Byam Shaw, by his father, entrepreneur Justin Byam Shaw. 

Purpose of the Job 

To support in both the design & creation and the day to day running & implementation of Felix's Kitchen new employability programme and then be the key driving force behind delivering these programmes. 

You will be leading a team of chef apprentices, providing them with hands on skills training created by yourself alongside the accredited course, supporting them with functional skills training, being their day-to-day line manager and supporting other employability programmes within the Felix Project in particular Felix’s Kitchen other programmes.  

You will work alongside the wider Felix Kitchen team and support your programme to integrate into the main production kitchen. You will take a leading role in supporting Felix’s Kitchen at events and engagement opportunities, supporting the apprentices being a huge part of these events, both on and off site. The training kitchen will be your base and you will be responsible for the safe and effective running of this part of the kitchen, maximising its impact on the programmes as well as exploring other opportunities for its use, hosting visitors and charity partners. You will be a key part of all reporting and evaluations of our employability programmes.
