Would you like to help tackle loneliness, one conversation at a time?
Loneliness and isolation can have devastating effects on a person’s mental and physical health. We are a registered charity providing a pathway of support to alleviate the hurt and distress, and the impact on mental and physical health, caused by loneliness and social isolation.
We are looking for Group Volunteers to join our existing team of fantastic volunteers and help with running our supportive social groups which provide a monthly opportunity to meet in Oxford or Abingdon.
These groups offer a welcoming, safe and supportive environment in which Archway Friends can meet with and gain confidence in relating to others, develop new friendships and ultimately engage with people and activities in their local community. Volunteers attend one group a month (or more if they would like!) and meet and greet Friends (what we call people who come to our groups and use our services) as well as helping to facilitate the group with activities, moving around the group, helping with refreshments and actively listening to the people who attend.
We ask volunteers to think of this as a longer term volunteer role due to the training and time we take in order to give our volunteers, and Friends, the very best service. You will also need to consider occasional time spent in training for your role and for continuous development.
For all our roles:
Enhanced DBS checks for working with vulnerable adults (formerly called criminal records bureau checks) which we will organise (no cost to this) and two references are required.
For any roles involving driving Archway Friends, we will need to see evidence of insurance and driving license as well as MOT and tax documents for the vehicle to be used.
We will happily cover out of pocket expenses (eg mileage or costs or bus fare).
We provide training relevant to the roles as well as ongoing supervision, guidance and support for all volunteers.

Disabled people face significant inequalities in education, sport, leisure and employment. They often face multiple barriers to fulfilling their potential and achieving their aspirations. Sport and physical activity have the power to inspire, enable, build self-esteem, and provide success. They can improve physical health, employability, mental well-being and social community inclusion. However, many barriers prevent disabled people from accessing sport. These include a lack of coaching, clubs, transport, equipment and support networks, as well as high costs and negative perceptions of disabled people participating in sport.
We are a fairly new charity established in 2021, with big ambitions for the future. We have started with small but meaningful projects. We are reaching out to disabled people, learning from our projects, and focusing on our vision and purpose.
We are seeking new people to join our Board of Trustees to help steer the organisation and ensure we are carrying out our charitable purposes. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in marketing, fundraising, and working with business. Previous Board experience is not essential. As a user led organisation, we are keen to receive applications from disabled people.
The Richard Whitehead Foundation is a small charity with big aspirations to create social change and use the power of sport for the benefit of disabled people. We believe in the impact of sport: the increased mental well-being, the confidence, the self-esteem, the social inclusion and employability which can come from it. We want disabled people to be able to thrive and benefit from all these opportunities.

4. Manage RWF’s resources responsibly. You must act responsibly, reasonably and honestly. This is sometimes called the duty of prudence. Prudence is about exercising sound judgement. You and your co-trustees must:

You will need to have flexibility during the day in term-time and ideally some evening availability, dependant on demand. You'll need to be 17 or older for this role. You must have access to your own car or reliable public transport. Talks are delivered in person within a 20 mile radius of your home. Expenses are available. As this role involves liaising with children and young people, you will need to be prepared to undertake a DBS check. If you are using your own vehicle we will also need to complete some licence, insurance, MOT and tax checks. By submitting your application form, you consent to your personal details being passed to our external providers for them to carry out these checks, providing you are selected for the role. Blue Cross holds inclusion as a core organisational value. We positively encourage applications from eligible volunteers regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, transgender status, religion or belief, marital status or pregnancy and maternity. We actively embrace our differences and know that it is our differences that make us unique. You are very welcome at Blue Cross, without the need to hide any part of who you are.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

-
And more!

Dogs for Good is driven by the belief that dogs, and the bond we share with them, enable people to live happier healthier lives. We want to support more people to benefit from these connections and have an exciting new strategy to expand our reach and impact.
We are looking for up to four new Trustees to join our Board on a voluntary basis and help us to achieve this ambition.
With ultimate responsibility for the charity, our Board of Trustees provides strategic leadership, guidance and oversight to ensure our continued growth and success. The Board works closely with, and holds to account, the executive team, supporting the management of the organisation and making sure that we deliver our objectives.
Dogs For Good is committed to having a diverse Board with wide-ranging levels of experience and the knowledge, capability and skills to draw upon in its governance and decision-making; specifically in the following areas:
- Finance, charity and/or social value accounting
- Digital transformation – especially in a charity context
- Marketing, campaigns and public affairs
The Board is currently comprised of the Chair and seven other Trustees. It meets five times each year in Banbury; one of these meetings includes the AGM.
Dogs For Good holds a variety of events and meetings for volunteers each year, and we encourage Trustees to attend one or two of these, where possible.
Trustees serve a fixed term of three years from the date of their appointment and, if qualified, are eligible for reappointment for a further two terms. While this is an unpaid voluntary role, reasonable expenses will be paid.
For more information on the role of a Trustee, please download the Trustee Recruitment Pack
The closing date for applications is noon on Monday 18 November.
Dogs for Good is committed to being a diverse and inclusive organisation, with an equally diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds including those with disabilities. We will never discriminate based on race, ethnicity, country of origin, gender (or gender expression or identity), sexual orientation, marital status, disability or age. If you are invited for an interview, please let us know if you have any accessibility requirements or adjustments so we can support you to attend.
