We are looking for a Legal Adviser to join our social justice legal team and will be required to deliver a minimum of 2 services through our in-person and ‘virtual’ legal services to clients attending alcohol/drug treatment centres, homeless day centres, and sexual health clinics. The legal advice, assistance and representation we provide has a particular focus on debt, housing including homelessness, and welfare benefits. The post holder will also be required (after a period of induction and/or training) to provide advice on Release’s national legal helpline pertaining to the criminal law and the criminal justice system related to drugs offences, and broader legal advice through our new Harm Reduction Hub drop-in service. In addition to the delivery of legal services, the postholder will also be required to assist with the policy work undertaken by the organisation.
We are also developing an immigration service which will be available from early 2025 and will be available to a limited number of host services initially. We have been successful in tendering for legal aid contracts for Community Care and Public Law from September 2024, and there may be opportunities for the post holder to work within these in the future.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
- To deliver, under supervision, high quality legal services to clients at centres in the London area, and with training deliver our 'virtual' legal outreach service to clients.
- To provide advice, casework and (where appropriate) representation in the category of welfare benefits, housing and debt.
- To provide legal advice on the national helpline and through the Harm Reduction Hub to those impacted upon by the drug laws or have legal problems due to their drug use.

Having worked in a stressful and emotional environment you will have a genuine interest in building supportive relationships and helping people; and having provided bereavement support to families, you understand processes of grief, loss, and change - and how best to help others deal with its impact.

RNID Near You Co-ordinator (East Riding)

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we reopen services that unfortunately closed due to the pandemic. As a coordinator, you will focus and lead on developing and delivering our community service across the East Riding of Yorkshire through drop-ins offering:
- practical hearing aid support
- information on hearing loss and tinnitus
- hearing checks
You will be responsible for co-ordinating up to 15 drop-in services and be able to recruit, train and manage a team of up to 30 volunteers to deliver the service across East Riding of Yorkshire.
You will:
- Coordinate our volunteering team to deliver a high level of service at our RNID Near You drop-in sessions.
- Recruit volunteers across the East Riding of Yorkshire to strengthen existing sessions and open new sessions as required.
- Work with NHS audiology to induct and train our volunteers to high standards.
- Promote our sessions to ensure maximum engagement from local hearing-aid users.
- Ensure all paperwork is processed correctly and reports to stakeholders are timely completed.
You
You want to make a difference in people’s lives and love to interact with various audiences, including volunteers, health & care professionals, and service users. You have experience managing your own workload and are able to work flexibly when required. You can motivate volunteers to assist clients with hearing aids sensitively, to give clear guidance and take into account individual wishes and health needs.
You are ready to work for a home-working organisation and have good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word. You will be able to recruit, train and manage a team of volunteers and deliver an excellent service across East Riding of Yorkshire. Join Britain’s biggest charity supporting Kinship Carers.
We know kinship carers are strong, capable and fiercely determined to ensure they get what they need to support their kinship family. And we want to support them to feel confident and empowered to do that. Kinship has been awarded funding to develop the first ever training programme for kinship carers. The programme will support all kinship carers across England in the caring role.
Are you or have you been a kinship carer? Could you use your skills and experience to co-deliver engaging training workshops for other kinship carers?
This role is core member of our Training team responsible for the delivery and facilitation of our in person and online workshops for kinship carers alongside colleagues some of whom have lived experience of kinship care. There will be a lot of delivery in person and online to reach kinship carers across England and individual and team targets to be met as part of this high-profile contract.
You’ll need to be a confident, experienced facilitator with exceptional communication skills. You’ll have a creative, energetic and determined approach to providing engaging and interactive experiences for participants and you’ll understand how people take on information and be able to differentiate your style to respond to a wide variety of needs.
On a practical level you’ll be confident and organised in your approach, be calm under pressure, and be equally comfortable facilitating sessions in person and online to large and small audiences. You’ll be confident using technology including Zoom and be familiar and at ease using a wide range of tools and techniques relevant to both online and in person learning.
We support kinship carers in their homes and communities, giving advice and helping them work through problems to find the best way forward.

The position:
As Social Media Coordinator, you will live and breathe all things social media, leading all activities across our Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and LinkedIn, as well as keeping an eye out for opportunities elsewhere on social media.

Hours:
This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday.
From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.
During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, to be worked across Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

About the role
Sense has a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Business Development team as our Partnerships Executive. This is a full time, 12 month fixed term, position working 37.5 hours per week. This role will working flexibly between home and our office in King's Cross, London.

- Lead the initiative to expand Sense’s ‘talks and training’ offerings by establishing and maintaining relationships with EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) professionals and leaders of corporate staff networks.
- Assist Partnership Managers in the day-to-day management and nurturing of existing corporate partnerships, ensuring consistent support and service delivery aligns with Sense’s strategic goals.
- Conduct weekly research to identify corporate foundations and charity of the year opportunities, lead the application process, and support partnership managers by strengthening their pipelines.

Centre Administrator
9am-2pm, 5 days a week, term time only.
We are looking for a Centre Administrator to support both the administration and running of all activities at the Centre and the maintenance of facilities for all users of the building.
Reporting to our Centre Manager, our Centre Administrator will:
- Support the administration of courses, conferences and other events at the Centre.
- Be the first point of contact for all visitors, telephone calls and general email enquiries.
- Offer first line support for delegate and member queries.
- Work with the Centre Manager to ensure the smooth running of the building for visitors and staff.
- Support the Centre Manager to host courses and events including set-up of rooms, materials, catering, greeting and registering course participants and responding to the attendees’ needs.
- Maintain and manage the centre diary ensuring all facilities and equipment are available as required.
- Be a liaison for all room hire enquiries, ensuring all bookings are recorded and invoiced, and resources provided as requested
- Maintain the signing in system, setting up course and event attendee lists
- Raise purchase orders for office related spending.
- Support the wider CLPE team with ad hoc administrative tasks.
- On request - arrange travel and accommodation for any staff working away from the office.
