The role requires someone who is resilient, professional, self motivated with a strong work ethic and determination, attention to detail, the ability to make decisions and strong empathy for the clients we work with.
About us:
At the Islington Centre for Refugees and migrants, we welcome people who have been displaced from their countries of origin, wherever they have come from, whatever has happened in their lives. Our mission is to offer people the emotional support, practical tools and sense of community they need to be happy and have a decent quality of life in the UK. We are a small, growing charity, founded in 1997, with an expenditure budget of roughly £570,000 for the year ahead. This year we worked with 200 people offering compassionate, long term and holistic support including: a warm welcoming Centre in Islington; an Online School teaching English and offering activities to promote wellbeing; digital inclusion; grants to people in destitution and our Support Service which offers advocacy and advice to people on accessing housing, healthcare and legal advice.
About the role:
The successful applicant will work alongside our Trustees, our CEO and our existing Head of Fundraising and Communications in a jobshare to meet challenging fundraising targets. You will be joining us at an exciting time of development, as we open at our third site in Islington, welcome new members of staff to our team and begin work on a new strategy for 2025-2028. We have a strong track record of grant fundraising and seek someone who can support us to diversify our income, develop a fundraising strategy with a variety of income streams and bring experience and ideas to raise our profile. You will be part of a small and highly committed fundraising team of three including the existing Head of Fundraising and Communications, our Fundraising Officer and yourself. This role will focus on corporate, community, and major donor stewardship. Our work is hybrid and the role requires working both at the Centre in Islington and from home. About the Role
This role will play an active part in driving forward our exciting fundraising campaigns, events and community relationships. This involves a wide-range of tasks which will vary day by day, from helping at on-site events to the distribution of marketing materials, and from taking minutes to building good relationships with local supporters (including schools and universities, local groups and businesses, community champions and participants in challenge events).
We’re looking for someone who has a passion for great event experiences and customer service, is proactive and organised, adaptable, collaborative and solutions focussed.
The ideal candidate will enjoy:
- Making a difference – each campaign, event and relationship provides significant funds and awareness that will help provide homes, jobs, food and support to help people break the cycle of homelessness.
- Making it happen – getting stuck in, using problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude while maintaining the highest professional standard with good attention to detail.
- Building positive relationships, working with colleagues and supporters to maximise engagement.
This position will suit someone interested in a career in events or fundraising. The role will report into the Corporate Partnerships and Community Development Manager, working closely day-to-day with the Events specialist, Senior Executive for fundraising and challenges, and the wider Fundraising and Marcomms team.
About Social Bite
Our vision is a society where no one should have to be homeless.
We are a charity and social business providing homes, jobs, food, and support to empower people to transform their own lives. We challenge the status quo by pioneering solutions that create lasting change.
We began as a small sandwich shop in Edinburgh in 2012, offering jobs and free food to people affected by homelessness. We’re now expanding our projects across the UK, on a collaborative mission – a movement to end homelessness.
We help people break the cycle of homelessness through innovative supported employment programmes (Jobs First) and housing solutions (Social Bite Villages) and give out over 165,000 items of free food year-round through our coffee shops and community networks.
We build lasting relationships, because we believe that through positive connections people can transform their lives. We use food, homes, and jobs as tools of engagement that can enable everyone to reach their potential. Our national and global campaigns have shifted the cultural dial on homelessness and our work has been championed by George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sir Chris Hoy and the Princess of Wales. A number of our team have been homeless themselves.
Thank you for your interest in this role! We’d love you to apply.
Animal welfare is in crisis. Could you help us stem the tide of cats and dogs being abandoned or given up for adoption?
If you have experience of working in the community, ideally with young people and marginalised groups, we have a fantastic opportunity to manage and develop our education and outreach work.
The pandemic pet boom, poor breeding practices and the rising cost of living mean that rescue centres, like Bath Cats and Dogs Home, are contending with unprecedented numbers of animals with complex medical and behavioural problems.
But it doesn’t need to be this way. By working in the community, we can address the problems before they reach crisis point.
We believe that every cat and dog should have the opportunity to enjoy a healthy life and a happy home. If pets are wanted and cared for then we’ll help them remain in their loving homes, which is why we’re expanding our outreach services, giving support to struggling pet owners when it is most needed.
The Education and Outreach Manager will work directly with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team to manage existing projects and to shape and develop new initiatives. You’ll work in partnership with education providers, community groups and charities to ensure that Bath Cats and Dogs Home’s expertise and resources are directed to those most in need, and where we’ll have the biggest impact for animal welfare.
In return you’ll be part of a passionate and driven team. We commit to being kind, inspirational, dedicated, open and honest, and expert. If our values match your own, and you are inspired by the work that we do, then we’d love to hear from you.

We have recently received funding to explore expansion into Scotland for the Faith in Affordable Housing project. This will be a 15-month project with potential to expand, subject to funding.
The proposed project is to undertake a scoping exercise across Scotland, to ascertain the need for social and affordable housing, and the key stakeholders providing housing, as well as the potential presented by faith organisation-owned assets to meet housing need. The resulting feasibility study and business plan will then inform the potential next steps for Faith in Affordable Housing Scotland.
About us
Housing Justice is a charity that acts on homelessness and housing need across England and Wales. We work to prevent people from experiencing homelessness, help people out of homelessness or destitution, and enable the building of affordable homes. We also take a leading role as the voice of the faith and voluntary sector, supported by the Welsh and UK Governments. At Housing Justice, we value differences: we are a diverse organisation, and we work with people of all faiths and none. We seek to influence and bring about change for the benefit of those we serve through partnership, lobbying and networking. Our initiatives include Faith in Affordable Housing, Hosting people seeking sanctuary, Support for people from Ukraine, The Winter Night Shelter Network and Citadel.
