Alongside working on Connecting Communities, there will also be delivery on our Money and Me project, this is supporting individuals whose mental health is impacting their finances through 1:1 and workshops.

We are looking for an individual who understands the communities of Lancashire and the barriers to engagement they may face. Fluency in languages such as Urdu, Punjabi or Bengali is advantageous. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt to a range of audiences and with the ability to build relationships quickly with service users and professionals.

We are looking for a new member to join the Enterprise Directorate in this fixed term role for up to 12 months.

The role

We are recruiting for a Programme Manager to support with the management and coordination of the Enterprise Hub’s investment activities. You’ll be joining the Enterprise Hub team at an exciting time as we expand our active engagement with investors, via two brand new workstreams: our inaugural Investor Fellowships and our Investor Club. This role will be focussed predominantly on the Investor Club and the management and expansion of our investor community, and will provide some logistics and coordination support for the Investor Fellowships.

As Programme Manager (Investment), you will work closely with Head of Enterprise Hub to support the delivery of the new Investor Club programme, lead on our monthly investor newsletter, and curate community engagement activities aimed at fostering connections within the investor network, and between investors and entrepreneurs. As well as reporting directly into the Head of Enterprise Hub, it is expected that the role-holder will also support the Senior Programme Manager (Investment). This role will involve collaborating with colleagues across the Enterprise Directorate.

Job Description

Purpose of the Role

The Helpline Manager will manage and provide support and advice to a team of Helpline Support / Case Workers and Helpline volunteers who will be handling calls. The role will also include occasionally providing helpline cover during staff shortages. The helpline supports women on more than 45 different issues with the majority of call related to various forms of violence and abuse as well as mental health and wellbeing.

The Helpline Manager will be responsible in ensuring that the service continues to be culturally sensitive and be able to respond to a diverse population of women with complex needs. A significant part of the role will encompass managing staff / volunteer rotas, monitoring staff performance, identifying and managing safeguarding issues, ensuring that the helpline database is being maintained and providing helpline data to other staff. The role will also include attending external stakeholder meetings and raising awareness of the helpline service. The Helpline Manager will also have some involvement in other MWNUK projects, services and activities as required. The role requires a proactive, organised and practical approach to ensure MWNUK’s projects are delivered effectively and efficiently, providing high quality support and customer service across the organisation, both internally and externally.

Main responsibilities

· Supervising the Helpline team of 11 staff (however this is equivalent to 3 full time staff per day only) and ensuring there is sufficient helpline cover and monitoring their wellbeing.

· Recruiting and training helpline volunteers and staff with the support of senior management and ensuring their development needs are flagged up.

· Monitoring performance of helpline staff through monthly supervision meetings and annual appraisals.

· Identification, handling and recording of all safeguarding risks and issues for both children and adults, including in instances of domestic abuse, forced marriage, honour-based violence, sexual abuse, self-harm, isolation, housing, marriage and divorce etc.

· Reviewing helpline cases before they are closed ensuring the data has been properly recorded.

· Monitoring helpline data and identifying any trends and sharing them with senior management and the Advocacy Officer.

· Maintenance of accurate records, online databases, filing systems and computer files and gathering of statistics as required by the Operational Director and / or CEO and external evaluating consultant.

· Maintenance of all information in line with confidentiality and data protection policies while observing professional boundaries at all times.

· Holding monthly helpline team meetings and sharing learning as well as identifying and sharing interesting cases with senior management and the Advocacy Officer.

· Attending external meetings e.g. MARAC meetings, engaging with police and social services.

Other duties

· When required (i.e. when there are staff shortages) provide cover on the helpline and respond to phone calls, emails, texts and webchat in a faith and culturally sensitive manner.

· Keeping up to date with helpline issues such as forced marriages, domestic violence, honour-based violence, sexual violence, female genital mutilation, mental health, discrimination and women’s rights – including assisting with projects and services on these issues.

· Promoting the helpline’s services to a range of stakeholders.

· Occasionally (if required) delivering training workshops and leading discussions online and in schools, colleges, and community organisations on issues such as forced marriages, domestic violence, FGM, honour-based violence, child sexual exploitation etc.

· Carrying out duties to support to the Operational Director and / CEO.

· Attending training as required.

· Undertaking outreach work if required.

Person Specification

· Strong experience of dealing with minority ethnic women particularly from Muslim communities who have suffered domestic violence and other forms of abuse such as forced marriage, honour-based violence, sexual violence, mental health issues etc.

· Knowledge of key issues that will arise on the helpline such as domestic violence, forced marriage, honour-based violence, sexual violence, mental health, hate crime etc.

· Strong experience of identifying and handling safeguarding issues for both children and vulnerable adults.

· Experience of managing, supporting and supervising a small team.

· Second language such as Arabic, Bangla, Punjabi or Urdu.

· Excellent IT skills (word processing, databases, spread sheets and Outlook).

· Able to build relationships with whilst maintaining professional boundaries.

· Proactiveness, enthusiasm and commitment along with an honest and trustworthy approach to the role.

· High level of professionalism when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

· Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with solid communication skills – written and verbal.

· Experience of effective teamwork i.e. listening (including taking on feedback), being respectful and instilling confidence and motivation into staff and volunteers.

· Ability to work independently without supervision and being able to use initiative.

· The ability to work in a positive manner, under tight deadlines.

About the role

The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD), hosted at the UN Foundation, is a dynamic international partnership of over 700 organisations. GPSDD connects stakeholders to address data gaps and harness opportunities for sustainable development.

In 2018, GPSDD , Sightsavers and partners, launched the Inclusive Data Charter (IDC)to promote inclusive, disaggregated data for better understanding and addressing the needs of marginalised people. The IDC has grown significantly, with commitments from over 30 Champions.

Sightsavers, a co-founding champion of the IDC, prioritises inclusive data to support its health and inclusion strategies. The Programme Manager - Inclusive Data will work across GPSDD and Sightsavers, managing strategic programmes and partnerships to advance inclusive data initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee IDC strategic planning and delivery, ensuring team collaboration with the IDC Technical Advisor and Advocacy Lead.
• Manage relationships with IDC champions, facilitating their engagement through regular calls and meetings.
• Foster partnerships between IDC champions, GPSDD partners, and other organisations to share experiences and strengthen inclusive data systems.

About The NewBridge Project

The NewBridge Project is an active artist-led community that supports artists, curators and communities through the provision of space for creative practice and an ambitious artist-led programme of exhibitions, commissions, artist development and events. 

Our programme builds solidarity with the people around us, and is community-centred, experimental, collaborative and socially conscious at its heart. We work with our studio members, the wider artistic community and our neighbours to create a programme that responds to their needs and those of the local environment.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Fundraising 

• Work closely with the Director and Programme Director to oversee the review, development and delivery of our fundraising strategy.
• Undertake research to identify potential new sources of funding from a variety of sources.
• Support and where appropriate lead on the writing of funding applications for core and project funding.
• Develop written case for support documents (such as case studies, needs-based analysis) that can be used for a variety funding applications.
• Input into the development and ongoing review of an ethical fundraising policy, in line with NewBridge’s values and ethos
• Work closely with the Director, Programme Director, and external evaluators, to embed and implement an evaluation framework into all strands of NewBridge’s work.

Funding Management & Reporting

• Oversee NewBridge’s obligations to funders and partners, through the production and submission of reports across multiple grant/reporting platforms. At present this includes:
  • Arts Council England 
  • Newcastle University
  • Newcastle Culture Investment Fund
  • North East Combined Authority - Skills for Growth Project (see more detail below).
• Manage and update reporting and evaluation timelines, working with staff to ensure we meet external deadlines.
• Manage, update and prepare up to date budgets for funders and partners when necessary.
• Write reports on progress/delivery for funders and partners, that demonstrate impact and progress against outlined objectives
• Work with Communications Producer and relevant staff to ensure funders and partners are correctly credited across communication platforms and public spaces where appropriate.

Management of North East Combined Authority Reporting & Operations.

• Lead on quarterly and annual reporting for North East Combined Authority, this will include:
• Processing quarterly financial claims
• Revising budget/cashflow on quarterly basis
• Submitting written progress report, and updates on key performance indicators and milestones
• Work with project partners Newcastle University, including;
• Preparation for bi-monthly steering group meetings and monthly operations group meetings, including:
• Scheduling and set up for in-person, hybrid and online meetings
• Taking and sharing meeting minutes and follow-up actions from above meetings
• Leading on the assembly and dissemination of papers for meetings.
• Gather necessary information from university to be inputted into reports/evaluation.

 Monitoring and Evaluation

• Work in collaboration with team at NewBridge to capture qualitative and quantitative data on audiences, participants and collaborators (including social impact reporting, equalities and diversity monitoring, environmental impact, and audience data).
• Lead on evaluation administration, including review and implementation of systems for recording data/feedback and completing data entry. 
• Attend events and activity at NewBridge in order to support with monitoring and evaluation.
• Work with external evaluators where applicable – at present this includes working with Ortus Economic Research to evaluate our North East Combined Authority Skills for Growth project.

As the Corporate Partnerships Manager, you’ll play a vital role in securing funding from companies and businesses to help drive forward our work. The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences - is seeking an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager to join our Governance & Fellowship Office, providing key support in the delivery of the Academy’s overall EDI ambitions across all aspects of its work.

The Role

Working closely with the Academy’s senior management and workstream leads within other teams, you will oversee the delivery of the Academy’s ambitious EDI activity and strategy. With experience of supporting and delivering EDI initiatives in similar contexts (HE, research funding, fellowship bodies or the charity sector), you will be responsible for both overseeing current and ongoing EDI activity, as well as initiating new areas of work as needed.

You will need excellent communication skills, to be able to liaise and report internally across all levels but also to provide high-quality external communications and act as an ambassador for the Academy and its work.

You will have up-to-date knowledge of the statutory and best-practice contexts of EDI matters and be able to bring these to inform the Academy’s activity, acting as both internal adviser across Teams and the Fellowship and an ally for staff, researchers and the audiences we serve. You will have an understanding of the specific EDI challenges within the UK HE funding and research sector, and work closely with internal and external partners to develop responses and new initiatives. You will have the opportunity to design and deliver new EDI initiatives, but also to influence our governance and accountability processes to ensure EDI outcomes are measurable and effective. You will play a key role in implementing the Academy’s cross-cutting EDI strategy, and ensuring this is evidence-based and supports our role as a key player in the UK HE and Research landscape.

This post sits within the Governance and Fellowship Office and reports directly to the Head of Fellowship Engagement & Governance. This Team supports the Chief Executive and the President of the British Academy, as well as its executive and strategic committees (Council and Senior Management Team). The Office also provides core Fellowship support, including their biannual meetings, nomination and election processes and a number of Fellowship engagement activities. This means that not only will your EDI activity be embedded across the main governance functions of the Academy, but you will also have the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and decision makers across all of our work.

Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust is one of 46 local, independent Wildlife Trusts and is the charity that works to make the environment of Birmingham and the Black Country (Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton) a better place for wildlife and people through conservation management, environmental education, advocacy, and community involvement.

As a wildlife charity serving a heavily urbanised area, a major element of our work is engagement with planning law and policy, through which we seek species and habitat protection along with wider nature recovery.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to nature’s protection and recovery in Birmingham and the Black Country. The post holder will engage with planning processes to advocate for nature, and in doing so will protect local wildlife of great value to people, communities and organisations across our region.

This will be a varied role that will include significant partnership working, engagement with land managers and owners, policy and strategy development, and responding to the demands raised by local planning applications and plan development. The successful applicant will be very well-organised, with a high level of attention to detail, and used to prioritising a complex workload. You will have excellent communication skills, and the confidence and ambition to affect outcomes within planning processes. Above all you will be driven by a commitment to see nature’s recovery across Birmingham and the Black Country’s urban landscape.

Nottingham, Leicester and Leicestershire Citizens 

These 2 well established Citizens UK alliances have more than 17 years of organising between them with over 50 member organisations and a team of 3 organisers. As Citizens UK moves towards a more regional approach, we are seeking a Senior Organiser with the talent, vision, experience, hunger, emotional intelligence and relational skills to lead this organising team as they build both Nottingham and Leicester Citizens chapters. 

These alliances have previously won campaigns around low pay, refugee rights, hate crime, housing, mental health and much more. Currently, their main strategic relationships are with multi-academy trusts and Anglican Dioceses.  Nottingham and Leicester/Leicestershire Citizens are currently running campaigns on migration justice, racial equity in education, access to healthcare. 

Our ideal candidate for the position will have a track record of making things happen, be able to work with a high degree of independence, are comfortable with uncertainty, and able to think strategically as well as operationally.  They will be interested in understanding and working with different sectors and types of organisations, as well as engaging with people from a wide range of faiths and cultures which are different to their own. They will be excited about building the power of civil society and be able to communicate that effectively to others. They will learn and teach the craft of broad-based organising and be interested in receiving feedback to support their own development and growth. They will build and maintain relationships with a large number of leaders across the region and coach them to take action together on a common agenda. 

Purpose 

The Senior Organiser will work closely with the Midlands Assistant Director to develop a strategy to build power and create change. They will be responsible for line managing a team of 2-3 associate and community organisers. Together, they will work with community leaders to find and develop community leadership talent, develop campaign plans, raise funds, maintain the current network while recruiting new dues-paying member organisations and work with a range of community leaders to win systemic change. The candidate will have an anger for injustice and experience of working on campaigns as well as significant management experience. Experience of organising is desirable, but we are open to candidates with a passion for democracy with transferable skills.

Main Responsibilities 

Working as the Senior Organiser across Nottingham, Leicester and Leicestershire Citizens your main responsibilities will include: 

Manage Notts, Leicester and Leicestershire Organisers

• Line manage and oversee the professional development of 2-3 Associate and Community Organisers providing them with coaching, pastoral, and professional support

• Arrange collective training opportunities for staff

Oversee the organising strategy of a Notts/Leicester Strategic Partners

• Work with colleagues to develop and oversee the organising strategy with Notts/Leicester strategic partners

Work with Notts and Leicester/Leicestershire Leadership Teams 

• Arrange quarterly meetings of the Notts and Leicester/Leicestershire Leadership Teams 

• Send monthly updates to each Leadership Team

Build relational power to further CUK goals 

• Develop a comprehensive power analysis for Nottingham and Leicester/Leicestershire

• Develop and grow strong working relationships with power players at a regional level or sector, incl. journalists; taking the initiative to establish new relationships as required 

• Conduct 1-2-1s to develop relationships with leaders; demonstrating timely and effective agitation to stimulate action 

• Work effectively with local journalists and media outlets to further Citizen UK’s goals 

Identify and develop relational leaders prepared to act with others for the common good

• Facilitate Issues Workshops and Delegates Assemblies.

• Support actions, ensuring publicity, and facilitating high level negotiations

• Evaluate the effectiveness of actions; demonstrating ability to incorporate lessons learned into future actions 

Contribute to CUK’s financial viability through effective fundraising & financial management

• Recruit new dues paying institutions; negotiating annual membership fees and letters of understanding as required 

• Recruit and work with large organisations; ensuring that they invest into the alliance and not solely internal delivery

• Contribute to fundraising by securing £75k-£90k per annum overall, at least half to be ‘hard money’ from retention and recruitment of member institutions and strategic partners. 

Contribute to effective teamwork 

• Attract and help recruit new Community Organisers 

• Lead other Organisers in a manner that supports high performance by providing clear expectations and providing proactive coaching, support, and accountability.

• Teach the community organising  curriculum on National or Regional Training successfully; acting as a ‘Track Captain’ by providing meaningful feedback and support to other trainers 

• Deliver sessions at a Guild Day 

• Produce all required reports and follow CUK’s procedures on time and to the required standards 

Contribute to the Craft of Community Organising 

• Schedule an average of at least 3 1-2-1 relational meetings into your daily schedule as a core part of your professional practice 

• Commit 10 working days pa to the preparation, delivery and evaluation of Citizens UK National Community Leadership Training; 

• Contribute to the leadership of a Guild Team and help it develop as a Community of Practice that enables Organisers across the UK to develop their skills and experience.
