About the organisation

The organisation is a small, thriving national charity supporting people in rural areas to set up and run successful businesses in community ownership. They do this to achieve their UK-wide vision for resilient, thriving and inclusive rural communities. The charity is based in Oxfordshire with around 25 staff and a turnover of around £1.2 million annually.

Community-owned businesses are owned and controlled by community members and range from village shops, pubs and cafes, through to woodlands, fisheries and farms. The charity has been promoting the community ownership model for over 100 years because of its track record for delivering better businesses for people, communities, the economy, and the environment.

The charity is in a sound financial position with strong reserves. The focus moving forward is to diversify income streams away from the traditional model of grants, trusts and foundations to increased self-generated income from projects, corporate sponsorship and placemaking initiatives with housing organisations. 

The new Head of Finance will be joining the organisation at an exciting time as they progress on this journey.

About the role

Reporting to the COO and managing 1 Finance Officer, The Head of Finance is the lead staff member for all matters relating to the Finance Team and is responsible for all areas of its strategic management and day-to-day operations. The Head of Finance makes up part of the Senior Leadership Team.

Typical finance duties include the development and implementation of finance strategies and policies, the production of financial reports and management accounts, leading on the budgeting & forecasting process, leading on the production of the annual statutory accounts, and supporting the Finance Officer with all elements of transactional finance such as reconciliations & VAT.

The Head of Finance will also take an active role on the Senior Leadership Team including contributing to business plans, networking with partner organisations and contributing to the continued strategy to diversify the charity’s income.

The charity uses Xero accounting software and has a December financial year-end. There is a current interim Head of Finance in post, and a handover with this person is likely. 

The role would suit an experienced charity sector Head of Finance, seeking to work on a part-time basis. The role will ideally be offered on a 3 day per week basis, with at least one day per week required in the office in Oxfordshire.

The salary offered is £60,000 - £66,000 per annum FTE (pro-rata) and benefits include flexible working, an employee benefits programme, training opportunities, 6% employer pension contribution and a generous holiday entitlement of 27 days plus bank holidays (pro-rated for part-time staff). 

Requirements

• Qualified or near qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CIPFA or equivalent 

• A strong understanding of UK charity accounting including fund accounting and SORP

• Prior experience managing the finances of a small to medium sized charity, and management of a finance team

• A proactive attitude and the ability to ‘muck in’ with a broad range of duties sometimes outside the scope of the role

• Excellent analytical skills, ability to identify financial trends and create a supportive narrative

• Experience with Xero and Salesforce would be advantageous

About this job 
We’re looking for an efficient and methodical self-starter to join our Governance and Executive Office (GEO) team in this varied role.

Delivering high-quality, executive-level administration, you’ll be a core part of the team supporting our Executive Group and Board of Trustees, enabling them to operate effectively and continue to drive forward our work for the MS Community.

Liaising closely with senior colleagues across the MS Society, as well as key stakeholder and volunteers, you’ll be part of our EA Team.  You will provide direct administrative support for two of our Executive Directors and help ensure that our Executive Group have the support they need.

You’ll have experience of a range of administrative tasks, including providing support for meetings and minute-taking, as well as delivering executive-level secretariat support.

As a key member of the GEO team, you’ll undertake specific projects relating to the requirements of the Governance and Executive Office and contribute to the overall delivery of the Governance and Executive Office team’s objectives.

The Epilepsy Society is seeking a progressive and ambitious Governance Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some experience in governance but looking to develop their existing skills and grow within the organisation. 
This is a brand new post, you will be assisting Company Secretary by providing governance, risk and compliance support including organising the Board of Trustees’, Board sub-committees’ meetings and annual calendars as well as assisting with internal Corporate Services projects.

About the Role

As Fundraising Officer, you will deliver campaigns and activities for the donor acquisition side of the Individual Giving team, successfully managing the donor acquisition activity in line with agreed annual targets and fundraising strategy. 1) Background

Chance to Shine (CtS) is a national children’s charity. We change young people’s lives through cricket, giving them the opportunity to play, learn and develop through the sport. We keep them physically active, teach them vital skills like teamwork, communication and leadership. And above all, they have fun.

Since 2005 our Chance to Shine Schools programme has helped reverse the decline of cricket in state schools with over seven million boys and girls playing and learning through cricket. Chance to Shine Street supports young people in under-served communities to access and benefit from cricket in a free, inclusive, fun and nurturing environment.

The team adopt a hybrid approach with team members currently working from the office on average 2 days per week.

2) Purpose of the role

The Fundraising Team is tasked with securing new partners and donors and the stewardship of existing supporters across a range of funding streams: Corporate, Events, Trusts and Foundations, Individuals, and statutory funding to support the delivery of CtS programmes.

This role will work with the Special Events Manager to deliver an annual portfolio of fundraising, challenge & beneficiary events as well as supporting with the delivery of corporate partner activations.

The role will primarily:

• Assist with the implementation of CtS events programme
• Manage events as identified by the Special Events Manager
• Lead on the challenge events programme and the stewardship of our challenge event supporters
• Responsible for the organisation and coordination of CtS beneficiary events
• Assist with the delivery of corporate sponsor activation plans
• Assist with the stewardship and prospect research of event supporters

3) Key responsibilities

Special Events

• Co-ordinate logistics for CTS fundraising and organisational events including managing event paperwork and processes, such as invitations and RSVPs
• Manage the fundraising to support the event programme as directed e.g. lead on the delivery of the annual stadium takeover day, golf day and/or other events as required
• Responsible for administrative support for CTS fundraising events including maintaining attendee and gift records on Raisers Edge
• Responsible for proactively sourcing auction items and the fulfilment of said auction items and raffle prizes to be used at CTS and third-party fundraising events, including developing partnerships with potential auction donors (both individual and corporates)
• To effectively manage the tracking, distribution and coordination of all cricket tickets and hospitality associated with auction prizes throughout the year
• To support with sales for CTS events, such as golf days and fundraising dinners, through prospect research
• To recruit and manage volunteers to support CTS fundraising events
• To regularly monitor the events inbox
• To manage and support the delivery of activities that may occur in partnership with other charities
• To co-ordinate and manage invitations to hospitality opportunities
• To co-ordinate and manage evaluation of events
• To produce all event collateral including but not limited to copy for invitations, thank you letters, event programmes, auction cards, flyers and brochures
• Lead on financial elements for CTS events – raising invoices, tracking payments and income

Challenge & Beneficiary Events

• To organise all challenge event activity, including identifying potential challenge event supporters and partnerships
• To provide support to third party supporters raising funds for CTS through beneficiary event activity

General

• To ensure that the CRM database and donor records relating to all events are kept up to date
• To maintain the events section on the website
• To work with the communications team to promote events activity on all digital platforms
• To assist with the design and creation of event materials to promote events.

· To assist with wider fundraising tasks as required
• The role includes supporting at events that occur outside of normal office hours. Time off in lieu will be available

About the role

Leading the Individual Giving team, the Head of Individual Giving is also a member of the Fundraising Leadership Team (FLT).

You will directly manage the Supporter Acquisition Team and lead on Individual Giving strategy development and deliver growth as outlined in the new income generation strategy by enabling its implementation, maximising opportunities to grow net income and member / supporter numbers by making the goals and work of Amnesty International compelling to the UK public, inspiring them to donate and showing them that they are part of a powerful movement for human rights.

You'll oversee the planning, budgeting, and performance of the Individual Giving programme, including our in-house tele-fundraising business unit, in accordance with the goals and priorities of the income generation plan and organisational strategy. Expenditure budget is circa £3-4m per annum to achieve an income budget of circa £17m per annum across a range of products and channels. You'll be accountable for the compliance of the individual giving programme, which raises funds and recruits supporters across the two separate-but-related legal entities that make up Amnesty International UK.

You don't need to have worked for a campaigning / advocacy-based organisation before - but you will need to be excited about leading an individual giving programme that helps fund one.

• You're experienced at management level within fundraising or business-to-consumer direct marketing, working with £1m+ budgets to achieve net income / profit and essentially will be able to give examples of the delivery of supporter / customer growth.

The Role

Reporting to the Warehouse Operations Manager (Donations), our Donations Sorting Assistant will be responsible for quickly, efficiently and accurately sorting donations of clothing, bric-a-brac, electrical and all other donated items, for re-sale in our network of charity shops and via our eCommerce outlets. This role will operate in accordance with all health and safety regulations.

You will be expected to receive stock donations from our donors in a friendly, positive and welcoming way. We do not turn donations away as we have a significant growth plan for our retail network, so it is essential that the Donations Sorting Assistant is able to remain positive and welcoming to all supporters and demonstrate our gratitude for receiving donations. Great customer service is also essential to maximise income through Gift Aid sign-ups and every donor should be encouraged to sign up to Gift Aid, if it is applicable for them.

Specifically, you will:

• Quickly and efficiently sort a wide variety of donated stock.
• Ensure that donated stock is stored appropriately and safely, in accordance with all health and safety regulations and charity policies
• Identify if any specific donated stock suits the profile/demographics of specific shops in the retail network and ensure that those items are ringfenced and delivered in a timely manner to maximise income for the charity.
• Communicate with Retail teams regarding stock offers and ensure that any requests for specific items are actioned in a timely manner.
• Create an engaging and supportive environment for our volunteers and ensure that the Donation Centre and warehouse are both great places to work.
• Help create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all donors, customers and supporters.
• Coach any corporate volunteers in the standards that we expect in sorting and represent the charity positively.
• Contribute to the motivation of the Donation Centre and warehouse team by being a team player and supporting your peers with any problem solving.
• Ensure that the donated goods are processed in a timely manner to maximise income for the charity.
• Work in a way that minimises the risk of damage and stock loss.
• Contribute to a culture where income generation is a passion for the team, ensuring that every donor is asked to add Gift Aid and that you are clear on the benefits of this.
• Be trained as a First Aider and Fire Marshal.  

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• To ideally be educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
• To have experience of working in a charity retailer or sorting high volume donated stock would be an advantage.
• To have basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• To be highly organised with good time management skills.
• To be resilient and able to react to quickly changing dynamics and flexibility.
• To have the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
• To be able to use own initiative and work with little direction, as management will not always be at the same site. 
• To be able to travel independently across dual site.
