As Educational Partnerships Manager you will be a key contributor to the regional London & South East Educational Partnerships team, working directly with young people and teachers in schools to deliver and support delivery of YE’s full suite of programmes.

The Educational Partnerships Manager role will suit someone that is able to work with young people, build rapport and engage young people from a range of backgrounds. You will need confidence in working within education settings, liaising with school staff, volunteers, and funders. Your experience of relationship development and management will help with growing our existing relationships while expanding our reach into brand new schools and colleges relationships.

This is a home-based role, however, will require significant travel in Essex and Outer East London, as well as frequent travel across Greater London to support our school deliveries.

About the role:

This role sits within our busy legal team and will be the legal business partner for the Motor Neuron Disease and Global Health Translational Challenges (“TCs”) within LifeArc providing specialist legal support on a wide range of grant funded projects and strategic collaborations. The role will support on all legal aspects of the structuring and execution of projects and will advise on a range of commercial, charity law, intellectual property and life science and medical research-related legal matters.

You will be a professional advisor and counsel to senior leadership and operational staff, especially the Head and senior members of the Partnerships Team (including BD Project Leads) and the TC Leaders, and will work in cross-functional teams to find solutions for delivering strategic projects. 

You will work closely with the contract managers in the Legal team to coordinate and manage the contractual needs of the organisation, including delegation and supervision and generally being a collegiate member of the Legal team providing advice, training and supervision to both colleagues in the team and across the organisation. 

About you:

You will be responsible for the following:

• Being a strategic legal business partner to the Motor Neuron Diseases (“MND”) and Global Health (“GH”) Translational Challenges, proactively seeking out information to anticipate and deliver all relevant legal support.
• Developing strategies for delivering that support, including triage and delegation within the Legal team.  
• Setting up new collaborations, grant funding initiatives, licences and other contractual arrangements by advising on the structure of these projects and by drafting and negotiating agreements. 
• Advising and supporting the Partnerships team on existing relationships to manage LifeArc’s existing funding projects and collaboration and LifeArc’s and others’ technologies, platforms and IP. 
• Leading and supporting Legal team initiatives, including training to the business and embedding new IT assets.
• Obtaining and pragmatically applying advice from external counsel, as appropriate. 
• Managing competing priorities whilst balancing the needs of the team and the organisation. 
• Providing occasional support to other parts of the organisation, including the Science and Procurement teams.
• Developing and applying an understanding of relevant aspects of charity law and Data Protection law to advise the business and mitigate related risks.  
• Advising on developments in legislation and legal practice as they impact commercial, IP and other activities in LifeArc; as appropriate, cascade that information into the organisation.

Skills and Education:

• Significant post qualification experience gained in Intellectual Property and commercial law. 
• A solicitor or barrister qualified to practice law in England and Wales.
• Experience advising on life sciences and/or medical research matters also advantageous.
• Highly proficient at drafting and negotiating complex contracts.  
• Experience of charity law and/or working with charity or not-for-profit clients highly advantageous.

JOB PURPOSE 

We are seeking a dynamic, creative and experienced corporate partnerships new business expert to join our team.

This pivotal new role will be responsible for securing high-value, seven-figure (financial and non-financial) partnerships with corporate entities that protect and empower refugees globally.

The successful candidate will oversee the development and implementation of strategic partnership prospecting, manage relationships with key corporate prospects, and line manage a Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer.

This role is an 18-month fixed-term contract.

• Supervise and mentor a Senior Corporate Partnerships Officer.
• Work closely with internal teams, including Philanthropy and Communications, to align partnership efforts with organisational priorities.
• Remain flexible and quickly respond to emergency situations, identifying and responding to fundraising opportunities at pace.
• Represent UK for UNHCR at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and build connections.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fundraising Manager to join our small and dynamic team during an exciting period of growth for the organisation. About the Role

We are recruiting a new Business Development Manager (BDM) to join our team. This is a mid-senior level position in the organisation, reporting to the Deputy Head of Business Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for the sustainable growth of our Equal Education (EE) and Green Economies and Infrastructure (GEI) Portfolios working closely with technical portfolio leads. We are seeking candidates with significant experience in a business development or sales role, ideally within the international development sector.

12-month parental cover, Fixed term with possibility of extension. ​Full time or part time (minimum 2.5 days per week) or other flexible working arrangements can be considered. 

Remuneration Package:

This role is Band D with a salary range of £43,000 - £55,000. Salary upon appointment will be commensurate with experience and in line with team members in equivalent roles.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a Business Development Manager role (please see person specification below) within a cutting edge and growing international social development organisation. As a Business Development manager, you will identify and win new opportunities for the company. You will ensure and facilitate efficient bid development processes working closely with technical team colleagues, as well as finance, HR and programmes teams, to produce high-quality bids in a timely manner.

Business Development – Portfolio Management

· BD Lead on specific technical portfolios, acting as a liaison between the BD team and the technical team to proactively identify, track and win work in that technical area.

· Maintain accurate reporting of all sales activity.

· Manage a pipeline of opportunities.

· Attend donor market meetings (e.g. Early Market Engagement meetings) for relevant bids, engage in donor consultation and network with others as appropriate.

· Convene decision makers to make swift and informed decisions whether to bid or not.

· Lead on pre-positioning work to identify partners, team members and develop our approach (in collaboration with other colleagues) for new opportunities.

· Negotiate consortium roles on bids and develop a teaming agreement to reflect that.

· Lead on our response (with input from relevant colleagues) to direct approaches from clients to provide consultancy and research services.

· Regularly meet existing partners/clients to develop and maintain relationships and to proactively identify opportunities for further joint working.

· Develop relationships with potential new partners and clients.

· Play an active role in building and maintaining relationships with SDDirect’s Associates and network of consultants.

· Own and develop marketing materials that showcase portfolio work.

Bid Production

· Lead on and be responsible for technical and commercial proposal development (including budget), working closely with colleagues from our technical, project management and finance teams. For large bids, the technical and commercial roles may be performed by two people, though the technical lead will retain responsibility for the whole process.

· Produce job descriptions/terms of reference for specific roles on new programmes.

· Use company resources and networks as well as own contacts to identify and contract consultants.

· Agree and document all terms in-line with BD process.

· Ensure compliance requirements for each bid are in place, e.g. data protection, due diligence etc.

· Capture and share learning from tenders under areas of responsibility.

· Review contracts for work won against the contract checklist.

· Deliver handover to the Programmes Team for seamless mobilisation.

Communications

· Contribute to internal action to strengthen SDDirect as an organisation through participation in meetings, working groups and other fora.

System and Process 

· Support the continuous improvement of BD Team performance.

· Actively participate in development of the BD Team annual workplan and objectives, taking a lead on agreed sections.

· Actively contribute to the development of BD Team systems and processes, proactively improving them where necessary.

· Record own time as required on Kimble, SDDirect’s time management system.

To design, manage, and deliver research programmes that further the understanding of small business productivity.

We have recently signed a new contract that involves executing a variety of exciting research pilots to deepen our understanding of small business productivity, focusing on technology adoption. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering these pilots with the support of the wider team. 

Key Responsibilities:

Project management

Stakeholder management

• Provide regular updates to funders regarding project progress.

Evaluation 

• Collaborate with internal teams or external evaluation partners to assess the impact of the research pilots.

Amplification

• Work with the Be the Business team to disseminate findings both internally and externally.
• Contribute to the broader small business knowledge base.

SMB Engagement

• Organise and deliver in-person and online clinics and workshops for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

• Be the Business is a small organisation and so employees are expected to get involved in a wide range of activities. These may include marketing, contracting and supplier relations and partnership management in addition to a typical research manager responsibility.

The Research Manager will be part of a small but highly respected team, including the Head of Research and Insight and the Senior Insight and Evaluation Manager. Given the team's geographical spread, a preference for remote work is beneficial.
