The role:
Mary’s Meals International is recruiting for an experienced Head of Safeguarding to join our People & Governance team. In this key role, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight of safeguarding activity across the Mary’s Meals network.
Reporting to the Chief Officer – People & Governance, and working closely with colleagues across the world, you will develop and implement project management plans to ensure our Global Safeguarding Policy is embedded consistently and sustainably across our movement.
As global subject matter expert, you will lead on the development of a global safeguarding strategy and develop our approach to safeguarding in different contexts. You will support, mentor and capacity build a global safeguarding team.
You will:
· Oversee the development and continual improvement of the global safeguarding policy framework.
· Develop a comprehensive implementation plan to fully embed the safeguarding standards across the global network with a strong emphasis on a high-quality training programme.
· Through direct and matrix management arrangements, lead, coach and capacity build the global safeguarding team and ensure that all activities are consistent and complementary.
· Work with leadership teams globally to develop and embed an organisational culture which is supportive of good safeguarding practice.
· Continue to embed our survivor centred approach to ensure that care and support is provided to those who have experienced harm.
Required skills and experience:
· Experience of working in a senior safeguarding or child protection position internationally with in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of sector safeguarding best practice.
· Experience of successfully developing and managing change projects and of implementing safeguarding standards globally.
· Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, demonstrating sound judgement based on evidence, knowledge and understanding.
· Experience of managing and developing a diverse, remote team.
· Experience of conducting and supporting investigations in a survivor centred way.
· Proven leader and influencer, you will bring relevant experience of implementing policies, projects and change.
· Cultural sensitivity, great communication skills and experience of developing productive relationships in a global organisation, up to Board level.

This is a global role, we are happy for you to work remotely and flexibly, and we are open to part time working patterns. There will be a requirement for travel to countries where Mary’s Meals operates including Kenya, Liberia, Malawi and Zambia.

5Rights is looking for a Youth Engagement expert to support our global network of Youth Ambassadors and ensure the voices of children and young people underpin digital policy. This is a strategic position with significant responsibility and room for growth in a highly dynamic organisation at the cutting edge of international policy debates.

Role Purpose
Key Responsibilities
Voice, influence and engagement:
- Recruit, coordinate, train and support young people to be part of 5Rights’ Youth Ambassadors Programme, including from groups facing barriers to participation, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all
- Plan and prepare materials, and coordinate delivery of the youth engagement programme from A-Z, with support from other team members as appropriate
- Be the main point of contact for the Youth Ambassadors, as well as for key stakeholders and partners
- Manage and develop partnerships with youth organisations
- Facilitate Youth Council and agenda-setting
- Facilitate research and consultations in coordination with the Research team
- Compile Youth Voices and support development of outreach, advocacy and communications material
- Manage the Youth Voice podcast
- Facilitate youth participation in policy activities and events
- Coordinate youth initiative actions
- Identify opportunities for youth engagement, influence and voice
Project development, management and delivery:
- Ensure robust consent, privacy and safeguarding practices are in place
- Design and implement well-being practices for our youth activities
- Where directed, manage and deliver existing projects
- Meet the agreed delivery targets and outcomes for each of your projects
- Gather relevant information for the monitoring and evaluation of projects using a range of tool
- Undertake the administrative tasks needed to coordinate 5Rights’ Youth Ambassadors’ activities
- Keep accurate records of all sessions and activities undertaken by young people
- Provide regular reports and updates on your work to internal and external audiences

Practical details:
We are offering an initial six-month, remote contract based in Belgium or the UK, with the possibility of full-time employment following a satisfactory review. The salary is based on a gross annual salary of £25,000 in the UK, or €35,000 (including benefits) in Belgium. Candidates should be prepared to work 38 hours a week, with flexibility to accommodate different time zones. You will receive 25 days annual leave, plus one additional day per year worked. Work equipment including a laptop will be provided.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a written task that will take 1-2 hours, prior to interviews. As Executive Director, you will demonstrate strong leadership and bring proven experience of engaging and leading a leadership team through periods of growth and change, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Strategy development, implementation and execution will be key to success, and you will demonstrate service, simplicity and stewardship to support agile growth across a variety of sectors and regions.
MMUK is the largest and longest established National Affiliate in the Mary’s Meals network, currently raising c.£20M to support global school feeding programmes, reaching children living some of the world’s poorest countries. The promise of a meal attracts these hungry children into the classroom, giving them the energy to learn and hope for a better future.
Key responsibilities:
· Collaborate with the MMUK Board of Trustees and MMI to lead the design and execution of an ambitious growth strategy, to ensure the organisation can achieve its mission and stays true to our values.
· In collaboration with our Director of Supporter Engagement & Income, develop and deliver an ambitious fundraising strategy for MMUK, focused on growing our supporter base, developing new partnerships and nurturing existing partnerships with various networks and other grassroots communities.
· Work with our Director of Communications to develop and implement an ambitious media and communications strategy to drive growth.
· Manage, monitor and report on the progress against organisational goals and objectives, in collaboration with our Director of Finance & Operations.
· Serve as the primary liaison to our Board of Trustees: manage, inspire and cultivate the board relationships.
Mission-driven, with extensive experience of leading a high performing non-profit or profit-making entity, on a similar scale. You will have experience across a broad range of strategic and operational functions and will combine your proven ability to drive growth, develop and nurture productive relationships and inspire our movement. Strategic in outlook, you will role model our dearly held values, inspiring and engaging everyone involved in our movement and representing MMUK to key supporters, donors and stakeholders.
You will also need:
· Significant experience of providing inspirational leadership to a senior management team and a wider organisation, with the ability to develop and live organisational culture.
· Strong experience of developing and executing strategies to drive revenue generation or fundraising.
· Experience of representing an organisation to key supporters, donors and stakeholders.
· Deep commitment to Mary’s Meals’ vision and mission and reaching the next child waiting.
· Familiarity with Churches and Christian networks would be advantageous but certainly not essential, as would the ability to represent MMUK in faith-based networks with confidence and credibility.
