About Care4Calais
Care4Calais is a volunteer-led charity delivering essential aid and support to people seeking asylum living in the UK and Northern France. We provide direct aid and advocate for a fair asylum system, including safe routes to claim asylum.
The UK Direct Aid team delivers essential support through practical services; such as running distributions, delivering English classes and casework-style support through drop-ins. The UK Direct Aid team also provides services to promote wellbeing such as trips and sports activities.
Volunteer Role Description

Our Linked Minds Befriending Project supports people who are socially isolated in Ealing and Hounslow due to a diagnosed mental health problem.
This is an opportunity to become a Befriender.
On successful completion of specialist mental health training, the Befriender is matched with someone suitable, by a Co-ordinator who then acts as a (non-clinical) supervisor for the befriending period, which is limited to a year.
Befriender, client and supervisor make a plan together with a goal to work towards, and the Befriender makes a weekly 1-2 hour visit to the client's home, where they might stay in and chat over a cup of tea, go out for a walk together, visit a café or undertake a local activity.
These visits make such a difference for the client, increasing their confidence and helping them explore and work towards getting a job, joining a club, meeting other people or whatever their goal may be.
The aim is that, by the end of the year, clients feel better about themselves, more valued, resilient, empowered, more linked to their community and better equipped for their journeys in recovery.
But volunteering with BEfriend not only enriches the lives of those who are isolated, it also offers immense personal rewards.
As a Befriender, you’ll get to know inspirational people with fascinating stories, develop new skills and be part of a supportive team that values compassion and connection.

Our Fundraising Events Organisers share ideas, tasks and inspiration, planning and delivering local events, with the support of the Fundraising events helpers, such as Open Days (usually 2 per year) at the centre and our annual Christmas Bazaar.
Time Expectation: This role can be varied and time commitment can be flexible.
Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

Plans to develop our board
We are specifically seeking one or more trustees with a good knowledge and experience of adult social care. As well as the normal duties of a trustee, you would take a specific interest in our adult care service provision – St Davids House (residential care), Jigsaw (day service) and our Supported Living service. You would scrutinise the quality and operation of our care services for adults and offer advice and challenge to our staff team as a member of our Adult Care Advisory Committee. You will liaise closely with the Director of Care and Support.
You may have been a senior manager in an adult care service or have been a commissioning manager within the NHS for people with complex care needs. You will have a passion for great person-centred care. Experience of CQC would be an advantage.
The Board meets seven times a year and is also invited to all events and celebrations which is optional. Trustees are warmly encouraged to attend meetings in person, but if required can attend some meetings online. Expenses are paid for travel and overnight accommodation can be arranged for those not local to Devon.

We are looking for new volunteers to join the Meet Me team to support Meet Me at the Albany in person and remote activities.
What is Meet Me at the Albany?
In 2013 Entelechy Arts and the Albany, in partnership with Lewisham Council, established Meet Me at the Albany – an arts and social club for over 65s. Meet Me… is led by a vibrant and diverse community of previously isolated older people, who come together weekly to run a cross-art form social and creative programme to make friends, be creative, advocate for themselves, and contribute to the vibrant cultural life of Lewisham.
On Tuesdays we get together at the Albany theatre in Deptford, and get involved with everything from singing to painting, from crafting to gardening. During the COVID pandemic we took our groups onto the telephone, and seeing the massive benefits these groups brought we have continued with our Meet Me on the Telephone programme. Experience with Older Adults: While prior experience working with older people or supporting their creativity is beneficial, it’s not required—just an interest in doing so.
Adaptable and Flexible: Activities may change, so volunteers should be open to adjusting their approach as needed.
Creative Sharing (Optional): Some volunteers enjoy sharing their creativity with our members, but this is not a requirement.
We’re also looking for volunteers who are interested in helping out with marketing and social media, so if that sounds like your cup of tea, get in touch! It would be great if you also have experience of working with people living with dementia.

Role Overview
We are seeking Voluntary Survivor Ambassadors — individuals with lived experience or deep understanding of CSA who want to help build hope, raise awareness, and connect others to our movement.
Your role will be to encourage others to become guests on our podcast or join as members, volunteers, and supporters, helping us expand our outreach and create safe spaces for healing and advocacy.
This is an unpaid voluntary position, ideal for someone ready to turn their pain into power and help others find their voice — while contributing to a national cause that is changing the narrative on CSA.
Key Responsibilities

Act as a bridge between survivors, communities, and our CIC, promoting healing and participation.

Reach out (with sensitivity and consent) to individuals who may wish to share their stories on our podcast or platforms.

Encourage survivors and allies to join our membership and community initiatives.

Represent the CIC at events, online forums, and local networks — sharing the message of protection, healing, and empowerment.

Support our outreach and guest management team in identifying potential speakers, artists, and advocates.

Participate in awareness campaigns, training, and empowerment workshops.

Provide feedback from the survivor community to help us improve support and representation.
Ideal Candidate

A survivor of CSA or someone with personal insight into its impact who feels ready to advocate for change.

Passionate about protecting children, raising awareness, and building safe, empowering spaces.

Emotionally grounded and able to communicate with sensitivity and compassion.

Confident in sharing your story only if and when you choose to — there is no obligation to disclose personal trauma.

A natural connector who enjoys community building and supporting others.

Comfortable using email, phone, or social media for outreach and communication.
