What does a Service Support Officer do?

• Acts as first point of contact/liaison for users of the service, members of the public and other professionals, providing them with further information and signposting/triaging.
• Works with team members to provide administrative support for activities, caseloads and meetings.
• Works with sensitivity and has a good understanding of the issues experienced by users of the service.
• Assists the team with a variety of communications methods, such as website updates, presentations, social media and other digital communication methods.
• Undertakes general clerical duties such as dealing with post, photocopying and ordering/raising purchase orders.

• Recent experience of providing administrative support to a team or service.
• Experience of working in a person-centred role with members of the public and communicating with a wide range of people.

About the role:

This role offers hybrid working with a minimum 1 day per week in our Victim Support Office based at Whitecross Studios, homeworking and regular travel to meet clients and attend meetings. As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate of domestic abuse you will:

• Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm
• Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
• Initiate, develop, maintain and monitor multi-agency links through procedures and protocols to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse

You will need:

• knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).

RJ4All is looking for an innovative UK Operations Director who will drive impactful social justice projects and community initiatives while fostering strategic growth and income generation. You will oversee our dynamic UK-based operations out of the Rotherhithe Community Centre, work closely with the Director, and lead our Centre-based team. 

Restorative Justice for All (RJ4All) is a charitable, user-led international institute with expertise in preventing and addressing harm at the individual, community and inter-state levels. We are one of the world’s leading experts in transferring complex criminological and social justice concepts into practice through real-life pilots and community projects. 

The UK Operations Director will lead on the delivery, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of RJ4All’s UK-based services, and especially those run from the RJ4All Rotherhithe Community Centre. It is expected that they will generate income for the UK operations and contribute to new ideas for UK-based projects that fall within RJ4All’s agreed strategy. Finally, the post holder will act in place of the Director when they are unavailable or for any other agreed reason.

This post requires leadership and strong ethical commitment to RJ4All’s core values and vision, independence balanced against organisational priorities and focus. To this end, the postholder is expected to have excellent communication with the Director, and be able to participate in complex, high level discussions with the non-executive directors and other stakeholders about the future of RJ4All. Initiative, loyalty, and innovation are attributes that are highly valued at RJ4All. 

Key Tasks 

• Lead on the management of RJ4All’s UK Operations especially those run from the Rotherhithe Community Centre, ensuring its facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards. 

• To line manage the Community Project Coordinators and Officers, the Fitness team, administrators, finance support staff, interns and volunteers. 

• To lead on drafting applications for funding from government, trusts and foundations, donors and sponsors for UK programmes and services. 

• To lead on managing and delivering of all services running out of the Community Centre including the RJ4All Sports branch, Community Gym, YouthClubs+, Foodbank, and Community Library 

• To lead on creating and monitoring the UK Operations’ Theory of Change on annual basis, and review it against available data and individual projects’ Theory of Change. 

Qualifications 

Essential 

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences or related

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a relevant field such as equalities or crime prevention 

• Experience in non-profit, CIC, or small business environment

• Experience in managing paid and volunteering personnel

• Demonstrated experience in fundraising 

• Experience in writing and monitoring budgets 

• Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to contribute to decision-making and planning 

• Willingness to learn and develop as a leader, inspire others and self, motivate and set own priorities 

Desirable 

• Master's Degree in Social Sciences or related 

• Certified trainings in restorative justice and other relevant areas

Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) working 37.5 hours per week based at St Helliers Hospital in Sutton, with one day a week at our Victim Support office near Old Street & homeworking and regular travel to meet clients and attend meetings. This is a stimulating and challenging role where you will get to assess risks and provide immediate support to survivors, working in collaboration with health staff and our pan-London IDVA team.Please note that the successful applicant will be required to sign an honorary contract with the Hospital Trust in addition to their contract of employment.

The Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People (CfD) is a registered small-sized charity that delivers a wide range of services including community development initiatives and assistive equipment services to people in Bristol who are Deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing. Our mission statement includes, we are working toward creating a Bristol “where everyone can participate in all aspects of life in the city, whatever their level of hearing”.

CfD challenges the prejudice and barriers that Deaf and hard of hearing people face in their daily lives. We are developing exciting new plans for activities that will contribute to our aims and promote equality for all deaf people. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team at CfD. This new outreach role will support the delivery of our community development work.

Summary of duties:

Our Community Outreach Worker will support the delivery of our new community development project: Connecting People into Communities, funded by Bristol City Council.

The role will include:

• Establishing drop-in sessions throughout Bristol for Deaf and hard of hearing people as a first contact point.

• Signposting/referring individuals to appropriate services and offering support with connecting people into communities – including the Deaf Community, hard of hearing peer support, and local community hubs.

• Providing information on activities and events occurring across Bristol and local hubs.

• Finding out what hard of hearing people in Bristol would like to see CfD offering.

• Strengthening our relationship with community organisations and other community based services, including those who support people from minority ethnic groups.

• Exploring how we can extend our work to reach more Deaf and hard of hearing people aged under 50.

• Developing content for our website so that it becomes a resource for organisations who want to improve their inclusion of Deaf and hard of hearing people.

The post holder will be a part of CfD’s Communities Team and will be expected to support the work of our other community projects i.e. our Deaf People Together and Community Hub projects. The post holder will be based at The Vassall Centre, Gill Avenue, Fishponds, Bristol BS16 2QQ.

The main responsibilities are to:

• To support the delivery of the Connecting People to Communities project so that it meets its aims by:

- Increasing our contact with organisations and hubs that work with minority ethnic groups throughout Bristol, particularly with those who support older people, and with organisations based in areas of deprivation.

- Working with community hubs (e.g. community centres, libraries etc) to provide regular CfD “drop-ins” – primarily as a first contact point and to alleviate isolation and loneliness.

- Signposting and referring individuals to appropriate services, and supporting individuals with connecting to communities.

- Providing advice and guidance to community hubs on how to make their venues, events and activities accessible to and inclusive of Deaf and hard of hearing people.

- Providing information on activities and events for Deaf and hard of hearing people across Bristol and local hubs.

- Finding out what hard of hearing people in Bristol would like to see CfD offering and what support they need.

• To support the work of our Communities Team by:

- Helping to run events so that local Deaf and hard of hearing people and communities have their say about how services are developed.

- Planning and attending project events e.g. coffee mornings, workshops etc.

- Developing positive relationships between service providers and Deaf and hard of hearing people, and advising providers on how to improve their services to become more accessible and inclusive.

- Supporting the Community Development Officer with collecting project monitoring and evaluation data e.g. equality monitoring data, case studies on the experiences of Deaf and hard of hearing people, and recording information on the database.

- Supporting the Community Development Officer with publicising our Small Community Grants scheme, and supporting existing groups with organising their events/activities.

- Working with the Community Development Officer to set up and facilitate Deaf-led advisory group(s).

• To provide content from project activities for CfD’s website and social media, such as information about activities and events.

• Be part of the team representing CfD at local events and exhibitions.

• Be flexible in your working hours. You may be asked to represent the project at meetings/events outside core working hours, or to complete any other duties that may be reasonably required for the performance of this position.

General

• Attend conferences, training, and other staff development opportunities.

• Develop an agreed personal training plan and carry this out using internal and external training as required.

Note:

The final interpretation of this job description rests with the CEO in consultation with the Board of Trustees and the jobholder. The job description will be reviewed in the course of supervision meetings and any amendments will be negotiated with the jobholder. Person specification

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, with good knowledge and empathy of the experience of Deaf and hard of hearing people. You will also have a pro active approach and be committed to helping and supporting others.

Essential skills and competencies:

About the Service User Network (SUN)

The SUN is an open access model of community-based facilitated group peer support for people experiencing complex emotional needs associated with complex trauma and/or a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’. The SUN aims to help people develop effective ways of coping, reduce emergencies and improve access to appropriate services.

Those accessing the SUN may or may not have a formal diagnosis of personality disorder. Group members will have experienced longstanding emotional difficulties, isolation and may demonstrate patterns of behaviour that may not be helpful in the longer term.

About the Role

Fundamental to creating empowerment and engagement in the SUN Project is the therapeutic community principle, that the effectiveness of the service depends upon engaging group members in the task of running, delivery, development and evaluation of the service. The utilisation of SUN members’ own resources and expertise is integral to the SUN model of peer support.

SUN Facilitators will have their own lived experience of complex emotional needs associated with a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’ and will be able to demonstrate their recovery journey. They will work closely with mental health practitioners from ELFT (East London NHS Foundation Trust) to deliver regular Service User Network (SUN) groups in different community-based locations in Bedford, Central Bedfordshire or Luton. Full training in the SUN model, and weekly supervision by a Psychotherapist / Psychologist, will be provided for all team members.

Facilitators will work to develop and support the therapeutic community principle of the SUN model and the effectiveness of the service through engaging group members in the task of running, delivery, development, and evaluation of the service. The utilisation of SUN members’ own resources and expertise is integral to the model of peer support upon which the SUN groups are based.

SUN facilitators will have regular supervision and support in this role along with appropriate training.

Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants is seeking a committed and motivated Head of Fundraising and Communications. Do you want to help refugees and asylum seekers in London? About us:

At the Islington Centre for Refugees and migrants, we welcome people who have been displaced from their countries of origin, wherever they have come from, whatever has happened in their lives. Our mission is to offer people the emotional support, practical tools and sense of community they need to be happy and have a decent quality of life in the UK. We are a small, growing charity, founded in 1997, with an expenditure budget of roughly £570,000 for the year ahead. This year we worked with 200 people offering compassionate, long term and holistic support including: a warm welcoming Centre in Islington; an Online School teaching English and offering activities to promote wellbeing; digital inclusion; grants to people in destitution and our Support Service which offers advocacy and advice to people on accessing housing, healthcare and legal advice. 

About the role: 

The successful applicant will work alongside our Trustees, our CEO and our existing Head of Fundraising and Communications in a jobshare to meet challenging fundraising targets. You will be joining us at an exciting time of development, as we open at our third site in Islington, welcome new members of staff to our team and begin work on a new strategy for 2025-2028. We have a strong track record of grant fundraising and seek someone who can support us to diversify our income, develop a fundraising strategy with a variety of income streams and bring experience and ideas to raise our profile. You will be part of a small and highly committed fundraising team of three including the existing Head of Fundraising and Communications, our Fundraising Officer and yourself. This role will focus on corporate, community, and major donor stewardship. Our work is hybrid and the role requires working both at the Centre in Islington and from home. As the Head of Fundraising and Communications, you will play a pivotal role in supporting some of the most vulnerable refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in London to rebuild their lives.

Working within a well-established charity, providing essential services for vulnerable individuals in an 87 bed hostel setting. Their mission is to empower young people by offering them the resources, skills, and opportunities to create a brighter future. At the heart of their work is the provision of accommodation and holistic support services to young people aged 16 to 35 who are facing homelessness.

The housing project operates 24/7, offering temporary accommodation for single young people facing a range of challenges, including issues related to mental health, substance misuse, domestic violence, and previous offending. Working in close collaboration with external agencies to provide a comprehensive support system that addresses not only housing needs but also the broader, holistic needs of our residents.

Job Purpose:

The Housing Options Officer will provide direct support to vulnerable young people, assisting them in moving toward independent living. This involves offering high-quality advice and guidance on housing options, benefits, budgeting, and life skills, all within a psychologically informed environment. The role requires collaboration with various external agencies to ensure that the diverse needs of the residents are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Housing Needs:

• Conduct interviews, assessments, and move-ins for potential residents in a timely manner, ensuring thorough inductions for new residents.
• Develop outcome-focused support plans and conduct needs and risk assessments.
• Provide benefit advice and guidance to residents, helping them maintain their accommodation and prevent rent arrears.
• Work closely with external agencies to address the wider needs of the residents, including Floating Support, Housing Services, and more.
• Ensure incidents and complaints are reported and managed in accordance with organizational policies.
• Actively source and manage move-on opportunities for residents, coordinating with housing providers as necessary.

Support Needs:

• Provide a welcoming environment for new residents, supporting them with life skills, social behaviour management, and access to other services.
• Manage financial aspects, including budgeting and benefit claims, and collaborate with the Income team to address any rent arrears.
• Address any anti-social behaviour issues and take appropriate action in accordance with policies.

Health and Safety:

• Support residents in understanding and adhering to health and safety policies, including security and safeguarding procedures.
• Ensure all incidents related to safety and security are appropriately managed and reported.

General:

• Serve as a shift lead when required, managing daily tasks and resident movements, and handling emergencies such as fire alarms.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with external agencies to benefit the support needs of the residents.

Income Maximisation:

• Work proactively with residents to minimize rent arrears and manage rental income, ensuring that all targets are met in line with organizational policies.

Regulatory Standards and Compliance:

• Ensure all residents can influence service delivery and comply with regulatory standards.

Data Protection:

• Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of residents' personal data, ensuring compliance with GDPR regulations.

Other:

• Provide cover at other locations as needed for holiday or sickness within the housing department.
• Stay up to date with current housing legislation and welfare benefits.
• Attend training and development activities, including occasional overnight stays.

Job Purpose  

To develop and manage your own portfolio of existing trusts, community and individual donors, and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support. Responsibilities  

Trust Fundraising  

• Develop, manage, and maintain a trust fundraising portfolio with a clear, scheduled pipeline of funding applications, coordinating opportunities and team resources to meet targets. 

• Cultivate strong working relationships with current and new trust and foundations, proactively seeking meetings. 

• Collaborate with colleagues to create compelling proposals and reports. 

• Work with monitoring and finance colleagues to inform impact and budgetary needs, ensuring timely reporting to donors in line with their grant conditions. 

• Build resilient, long-term relationships with identified supporters, keeping them well-informed about events, campaigns, projects, and the charity itself, to foster a strong sense of belonging to Village Water. 

• Use multiple research methods and communication channels to build and manage a prospective donor pipeline. 

• Research and write applications to grant-making trusts, targeting an amount in line with Village Water's annual budget, with an emphasis on securing unrestricted funds where possible.

About the role:
This hybrid role is based in Brighton & Hove, which includes a combination of home and office-based working. You will meet regularly with young clients throughout Brighton & Hove at safe locations of their choosing.

As a Children and Young Person's Housing IDVA you will:

Empower young survivors and support them to identify features and dynamics of domestic abuse
Work with young survivors aged 16-25 years, with a particular focus on cases where housing, homelessness and risk of tenancy breakdown is a factor
Hold a caseload of varying complexity, prioritising high risk cases
Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments
Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), acting as the voice of the young person and delivering on actions agreed
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, including child protection, child in need and others
Use a person-centred, survivor-focused approach, being mindful of the effects of trauma and additional barriers to accessing safe accommodation that children and young people may experience
Take the lead on the development of responses to the needs of at-risk young survivors with a housing need, and the development of relationships and referral pathways with partner agencies in this area
Assist in delivering training, and provide workshops, consultancy and advice to other agencies as required

You will need:

An understanding of the issues faced by young survivors experiencing domestic abuse
A good understanding of housing legislation and accommodation options for young people experiencing housing insecurity, including social housing, private rented, and emergency placement
A good understanding of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management for children and young people at risk of domestic abuse
An understanding of safeguarding issues & the legal responsibilities surrounding these
Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
