You may have thought that leprosy is an ancient Biblical disease, but today someone is diagnosed with leprosy every two minutes. It is a disease of poverty, striking the most vulnerable. Stigma and discrimination mean many people with leprosy hide their symptoms for as long as possible, living in terrible fear of what will happen to them. But without fast treatment, leprosy can cause blindness and disable hands and feet.

The Leprosy Mission (TLM) is the world’s largest leprosy-focused organisation, a pioneer in our field, with over 150 years’ experience serving people affected by this disease. We are a leading international development charity, working in nine countries across Africa and Asia. We are Christ-centered, following His leading to defeat leprosy and transform lives.

We are looking for an inspirational leader to develop and deliver fundraising plans in Scotland, and to provide excellent care for faithful Scottish supporters. You’ll be working from home, with extensive travel across Scotland. 

You’ll be part of a supportive fundraising management team based in Peterborough. We have a culture of growing and learning together, providing extensive training in fundraising and international development. You’ll also have opportunities to visit projects overseas and see your work first hand.

About the Role:

The Assessment Coordinator is the conduit for young people to access the youth accommodation pathway in Greenwich.  As well as triage and intake, the role supports young people by navigating their journey either by facilitating their safe return home, or into longer term suitable supported accommodation.

You will provide specialist assessment and interventions for a designated caseload. You will provide mediation where needed and advise/ facilitate restorative work with the young person and their family. 

About you:

• You have two years’ experience of assessing the needs of young people in a residential/ accommodation setting. 
• Proven experience and skills in delivering casework and planned support for young people. 
• A strong understanding and practical knowledge relating to issues that typically disrupt progress in journeys towards independence.  E.g. mental health, substance use, self-harm, domestic violence, anger management etc 
• Evidence an ability to navigate between and across specialties whilst working with clients to create a multi-agency support plan. 
• The ability to work within systems and families, to enable young people (that can) to return home.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Community Leader you will be the first point of contact for Companion pastoral care needs and wellbeing, this will include:

• Providing cover for the Community Leader in their absence, maintaining Community discipline and cohesion in accordance with policies and procedures.

• Being the first point of contact for referral applications and enquiries.

• Completing initial needs assessments and ongoing risk assessment.

• Completing Companion Personal Development and Structured Support Plans.

• Liaising with partnership agencies, drug workers, referral agencies, doctors, mental health services etc.

• New arrival inductions, providing relevant information about Emmaus Sheffield, including room licence and conduct agreements.

Head of Programmes role

The Head of Programmes will oversee all elements of programme design, development and delivery at First Give. They will lead the Programmes Team, including line management of two Programme Managers, ensuring high quality delivery of all First Give programmes

Contract: Full time, permanent

Salary: £43,000 (+£2,000 London weighting if applicable)

Location: This role will be hybrid, with 2-3 days a week based in our office in Central London (West Hampstead). Regular travel across England and Wales will be required.

Key responsibilities

Programme Delivery

• Lead the Programmes Team to ensure all First Give partner schools are supported to deliver outstanding First Give programmes
• Oversee and monitor delivery of First Give programmes at partner schools, including planning and tracking programme delivery against the charity’s ambitious targets and deadlines and ensuring First Give is resourced to deliver planned programmes (programme resources, personnel and budget)
• Lead on procurement and provision of First Give programme resources
• Provide regular updates for the Director on programme delivery and performance across all partner schools
• Manage escalated objections or issues raised by partner schools and other relevant stakeholders
• Support the Programmes Team to recruit, train and support a team of freelance facilitators to ensure all First Give schools receive excellent quality sessions and events at their school
• Ensure retention of existing partner school relationships year on year to organisational target

Programme Development and Improvement

• Ensure First Give Teacher Hub and all Programme resources are up to date, accessible and high quality
• Lead on annual programme resource improvement process for all programmes
• Lead on the development of new programmes at First Give in line with organisational strategy (including First Give Primary, First Give Step Up and First Give One Day)

Monitoring & Evaluation

• Develop and implement a robust Evaluation Plan to ensure First Give is consistently able to report on the impact and efficiency of its programmes
• Coordinate the collection and utilisation of data and insights on programme delivery and impact to implement improvements to programming
• Provide impact data in an easily accessible format for use by the Director, Deputy Director and others for fundraising, reporting and other communications

Programmes Team Leadership

• Develop and cultivate a positive, hard-working and happy team culture in line with First Give brand identity
• Manage complaints and/or performance management issues effectively to ensure success of individuals and the wider team
• Line manage the Programme Managers, ensuring development opportunities

Youth Voice

• Work with the Director to develop a new approach for First Give to encourage, engage and amplify young people’s voices in the development of our work
• Create meaningful opportunities for young people to influence and engage with our work and impact

Safeguarding

• Act as First Give’s Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer, ensuring compliance with our safeguarding procedures and processes and working to develop a culture of safeguarding within the organisation

As a Housing Domestic Abuse Advocate, you will provide intervention, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic abuse. Working within a fast-paced team, you will help empower women and ensure that the voice of survivors informs every stage of their journey towards improved safety. You will have your own caseload of survivors who hold social tenancies with local authorities or housing associations, and you will encourage them to engage with our service and ensure they have access to support. You will also co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support which focuses on working with domestic abuse survivors to maintain their tenancies and prevent homelessness.

About You:

To be successful as the Domestic Abuse Housing Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:

You will bring solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms; coming from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG degree and be keen to learn and to train on the job. You will have a good understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic abuse (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families, and communities. You will have proven skills and experience in conducting comprehensive assessments of needs and risk for survivors experiencing domestic abuse, including carrying out short risk management and safety planning. We will expect that you have experience in assessing the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have and an understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation with regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children. Lastly you will bring your knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures, and legislation.

With many skills and qualities to add to this role, if you have good IT literacy, data collection and monitoring these skills are maximised in your role. If you have experience or have been trained or are qualified in the fields related  to substance misuse, criminal jusice, law, social work or domestic abuse we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for an individual with an intelligence background who has a passion for preventing modern slavery and human trafficking (MSHT), creating and delivering intelligence products, has human rights, ESG, and/or financial crime knowledge. Our prevention program team also regularly interacts with individuals at high risk of being trafficked and therefore robust safeguarding is essential.

Our Intelligence Team research and produce our Exploitation Analytics service – a suite of reports containing actionable insight that our clients utilise to find potential bad actors operating within their transaction monitoring systems. We also offer a Business Resilience package to help companies mitigate the risk of potential exploitation within supply chains and operations through intelligence sharing and practical guidance.

Working as a Senior Keyworker you will be responsible for supervising a small group of keyworkers, planned and ad-hoc supervision is an integral part of the Senior role, and you will be supporting keyworkers with monthly supervision and have oversight of safeguarding for the women they work with. The postholder will be experienced, skilled and knowledgeable, with an essential interest in and experience of working with migrant and refugee clients with complex needs; and the post would suit someone with previous experience in the migration or advice sectors who is interested in working with a mixed caseload that includes needs around destitution, homelessness, immigration and NRPF issues. We actively welcome applications from those with lived and relevant experience.

The post holder will assess, prioritise and triage new enquiries and referrals and allocate cases as appropriate within the generalist team. You will also carry your own caseload and provide one-to-one generalist advice, casework and practical support to migrant and refugee clients on
issues including immigration status, housing & homelessness, welfare benefits, asylum support, community care and destitution; as well as signposting and referring to internal and external local services including support groups, wellbeing activities, digital inclusion, ESOL, training and employability.

You will oversee our phone and email advice provision and organise and take part in the weekly advice rota. You will administer our destitution hardship grants and liaise closely with our food bank staff in relation to destitute clients in need of food bank support. You will attend and participate in local migrant sector meetings and networks as appropriate and, along with all staff and volunteers, you will have responsibility for identifying and raising any safeguarding concerns. You will jointly oversee and supervise casework volunteers and provide support and advice to our current generalist caseworker where needed.

The advice & casework team supports clients holistically on a range of different matters and our core caseload includes refugees, asylum seekers, those with NRPF, complex EUSS cases, spousal visas and undocumented migrants. Many of those we work with are homeless or precariously housed, destitute, and/or struggling to access support through statutory services for mental health, housing, welfare benefits and children’s services. The balance of time spent between different client groups and cases will need to be responsive to the ongoing demographic changes we see in the city and region, and the post holder will be expected to provide casework management and co-ordination of relevant services, liaising closely with other providers and with interpreters.

You will work as part of a small, supportive team that currently includes one other f/t generalist caseworker, one f/t immigration caseworker and a number of active casework support volunteers. The wider frontline staff team includes four refugee resettlement caseworkers; our group work facilitator; a skills & employability caseworker; an ESOL tutor; a food bank co-ordinator; and a volunteer co-ordinator.

Regular supervision and support and in-house and on-the-job training will be provided, as well as external training on specific issues where needed. However you will need to be ready to step immediately into a busy advice environment with the necessary confidence, skills and knowledge to begin to deliver advice and casework and take over an existing caseload.

On rare occasions you might be required to work out of hours where there are emergencies or if and when there are new arrivals in need of immediate support.

Senior Programmes Officer: Local First

As Senior Programmes Officer you will closely with our peacebuilding partners to help deliver an ambitious new programme of work. 'Local First: Transforming the Peacebuilding System' will support local peacebuilders in Mali, Afghanistan, Sudan and eastern DRC to increase prospects for sustainable peace.

Through Local First, Peace Direct will work with policymakers and power holders, supporting them to understand the dysfunctions of the peacebuilding system, and find ways to better support locally-led peacebuilding.

Our Emergency Winter Night Shelter Service is run seven nights a week in venues across west London including: Fulham, Kensington, Hammersmith and Richmond.

In response to the increased needs, we are opening a women only shelter which will be staffed by women. With additional staff support, we will be providing a safe environment with additional support to guests who may have complex needs.

Shifts from 6:45pm or 9:45pm to 7.15am (plus additional time if allocated driver). Hours and days of work will vary according to the needs of the service.

• Setting up and help serve a simple breakfast for guests in the morning
• Ensuring all guests are woken from 6am onwards and leave the building by 7am
