Role Overview

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Trainer to join our Bet You Can Help Now team. You will deliver engaging, interactive workshops across a range of organisations, both in person and online. Working alongside our Experts by Experience (EbEs), you’ll ensure our sessions are insightful, impactful, and supportive.

This role is home-based, but you’ll need to be prepared for regular travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays, to deliver our workshops effectively.

Reporting to the Head of Training, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards and reputation of our programme, ensuring each training session meets the diverse needs of learners and our organisational goals.

Financial Controller (Ark and Ventures)

Reports to: Finance Director for Ark and Ventures

Location: Currently operating hybrid working in our West London Office

Contract: Permanent

Pattern: Full Time (standard hours 9am – 5.30pm)

About the role:

This is a vital and high-profile role for us and requires a person with strong technical skills and the power of independent thought; meticulous organisational skills and attention to detail; and drive to constantly develop new and improved ways of working. The successful candidate will be a qualified and committed accountant, ready to lead financial control for Ark’s central Finance team.

The Financial Controller will be mainly responsible for ensuring the highest standards of financial control are met across Ark, its subsidiaries and the various external ventures Ark supports. Within this, the role will be responsible for the processing and reporting of financial accounting data for Ark and its related entities, day-to-day cash flow management and compliant statutory returns (including VAT).

The Financial Controller for Ark and Ventures will report into Finance Director for Ark and Ventures. This role is currently operating hybrid working in our West London Office on a permanent basis working full time.

First-round interviews will take place virtually w/c Monday 5th May and second-round interviews will take place in person w/c Monday 12th May.

Key Responsibilities:

• Staff management including training and regular appraisals. The team currently consists of two Finance Officers. Also supporting two business partners.
• Provide up-to-date financial information and technical advice to Ark management and the Venture teams, including cash management.
• Lead the year-end process, including creation of annual accounts for Ark and its related entities (excluding Ark Schools) and overseeing the audits.
• First review of monthly management accounts.
• Take responsibility for the year-end audit and preparation/supervision of draft statutory accounts for the Group and 5 subsidiary entities in accordance with Charities SORP, Companies Act and UK GAAP. Liaise with auditors and ensure timetable and deadlines are met
• Management and oversight of the month-end process to ensure timely period close, including approval of all manual journals posted to the accounting system.
• Review and approval of balance sheets control account reconciliations, including bank reconciliation, petty cash, purchase ledger, staff loans, credit card, and Payroll accounts.
• Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Group’s cash flow and Treasury and preparation of performance reports for the Ark Management Team and Finance and Risk Committee.
• Set-up and maintenance of PS Financials (accounting system) and Concur (invoice and expense system), including maintaining workflows in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation.
• Relationship owner for Lloyds (banker), including set-up of Commercial Banking Online and credit cards in accordance with the Scheme of Delegation. Responsible for maintaining all bank accounts and mandates.
• Responsibility for writing and maintaining finance policies and processes, including the financial Scheme of Delegation, and ensuring these are freely available to all relevant staff.
• Accounts Payable Lead ensuring all suppliers are paid on time. Responsible for processing weekly BACs runs and authorisations in line with the Scheme of Delegation.
• Manage insurance provision for the Ark Group.

Key Requirements:

• Right to work in the UK.
• Professional Accounting Qualification (at least 3-years post-qualification).
• Educated to degree level or equivalent.
• A record of Continuing Professional Development activities.
• Audit experience.
• Hands on experience of producing statutory accounts.
• Experience of VAT, including international and/or construction industry scheme reverse charge, ideally in a charity context.
• Advanced level IT skills and ability to make effective use of standard software packages, e.g., Microsoft Words, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Staff management.
• Knowledge of the latest Charities SORP and Companies Act.
• Understanding and/or experience of working across a Group structure with a variety of business activities.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Qualified accountant (CCAB, CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) with extensive post-qualification experience.
• Proven finance leadership experience in a complex international organisation, ideally in the INGO sector.
• Experience managing multi-entity, multi-currency financial operations.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK Charity SORP FRS 102.

Key Activities

Leadership and Governance

The role
 
This is an exciting role, to liaise and support partner organisations to ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and up to date, coded correctly on UH’s cashbooks and reconciled against bank statements. You will also provide technical support to partners’ finance staff and train them on the use of the cashbooks and financial reporting to UH.
 
You will be educated to degree level and have experience in a fast-paced and complex finance role. You should have experience of working with technical accounting packages as well as experience in financial planning and monitoring.
 
The role is fast-paced and complex, and the ideal candidate will need to have proven inter-personal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to assess priorities, organise workloads and initiate action and problem solve.

We are recruiting for a talented Benefits and Debt Worker who has a background in supporting women or children who have experienced domestic violence to make a genuine difference to the lives of survivors. We believe in empowering women and girls to lead safe, non-violent, equal lives and you will play a key role in helping us deliver vital services to those who need them the most. As a Benefits and Debt Worker you will provide service users with advice and support on finance and debt. Carrying out comprehensive assessments, via phone and face-to-face, and you will provide advocacy and support that empowers survivors primarily during crises and in the short term. You will also proactively work with other agencies on the service users’ behalf. You will hold a caseload of survivors and work as part of our duty team on a rota basis which will involve completing intake assessments and providing crisis intervention support.

About You:

To be successful as the Benefits and Debt Worker you will need the below experience and skills:

You will have the ability to encourage user engagement with the service through proactive contact. Maintain project logs and collate data from the logs for Team Managers. Proactively assess the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have. Bring your experience of providing benefit, and debt advice and successfully, managing high numbers of calls and/or cases and have a solid understanding (possibly experience) of supporting women who have experienced domestic violence, forced marriage or ‘honour-based violence.

We are looking for a Senior Mental Health Advocate – Neurodiversity Specialist

Salary: £29,000- £32,000

Location: Advance Headoffice Hammersmith & Women’s centres across London, with co- location at HMP Bronzefield

Hours: 35 Hours per week

About the role:

This is a great chance to be a part of a service working alongside the Healthcare & Education Department within HMP Bronzefield to identify and support women who are identified as being neurodiverse and will be returning to the community. Of that cohort, the Advocate will focus support on women with a mental health need and improve their transition into the community, with ongoing community support; including collaborating with other healthcare professionals to their develop support plans.

The Senior MH Advocate will work in a multi-disciplinary way, including attending the weekly complex case meeting and/or the Safety Intervention Meeting (SIM) as appropriate, they will act as a specialist member of the wider Minerva Criminal Justice Service - London team, to facilitate a pathway for women with complex needs including mental health and neurodiversity needs. The Senior Advocate will create a link between prison and the community, helping women to navigate support services and to positively re-integrate into their community upon release. They will co-design a person-centred support and action plan with women accessing support, enabling to support them to address their needs and any risks. The role will combine a casework- based approach, along with a signposting and advice service for the women.

The Senior Mental Health Advocate will be based in the community and will provide a drop-in service (1-2 day per week) in HMP Bronzefield to support women who are close to release. The role will also include line management of other advocates such as; Specialist Prison & Probation Advocates who will be based in the prison and the Loss & Bereavement Worker who will be providing support in the prison as well as in the community.

A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential

About You:

To be successful as the Senior Mental Health Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:

An excellent understanding of mental health, neurodiversity needs violence against women and girls and its links to women in the criminal justice system

Experience of managing/supervising a team of advocates/caseworkers – and leading a team to achieve targets & outcomes as well as appropriately managing and leading the team on any safeguarding concerns/incidents.

You will have the ability to complete trauma informed, support and action plans in collaboration with the woman; to support in addressing their multiple and individual needs and enable them to engage with services, which will result in timely and prescribed outcomes being achieved.

You will possess excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work in a prison environment whilst remaining calm.

Sister Circle is looking for a part-time Programme Lead who is committed to tackling one of the most pressing challenges in women’s health today—improving equity and justice for underserved communities of women.

The Role

In this newly created role of Programme Lead, you will be responsible for working closely with pregnant mums and Maternity Mates volunteers to provide tailored support to ensure each pregnancy is a positive experience. You will be responsible for the assessments to determine the support needs of pregnant mums, matching each with her volunteer Maternity Mate; whilst mentoring each volunteer through her journey with mum to provide the very best support.

You will develop good working relationships with volunteers and pregnant mums and take responsibility for continuous improvement so that mums receive the very best possible support and are able to navigate and make choices for themselves. You will proactive and enjoy working collaboratively with your Project Manager and other members of the Sister Circle team.

You will be expected to work from one or two of the Family Hub sites within Croydon.

You will be confident and proficient in:

Programme Management – delivering high quality support programme for mums living with complex needs and managing volunteers. Effectively manage a significant caseload and effectively manage multiple priorities, at times under pressure.

Engagement and Collaboration – working closely with colleagues to deliver the day-to-day support.

Problem-Solving and Service Development – Ability to identify and come up with solutions to challenges.

Data Analysis and Impact Reporting – Experience of gathering data from beneficiaries and volunteers.

As a Resilience Worker – Youth Justice Service, you’ll be working within an Integrated, Whole Family Recovery Service, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside our partners in the Youth Justice Service. The role involves delivering interventions that empower young people to reduce risk, build resilience, and lead safer, healthier lives.

You'll have an understanding of the Youth Justice System and experience of supporting young people within the context of substance use and the associated contextual and safeguarding issues that impact on the lives of young people, their families, and communities.

You’ll manage a caseload, offering assessments, care planning, 1:1 and group interventions, outreach, and community events for young people using alcohol or drugs in Hertfordshire. Strong engagement skills, partnership working, and a solid understanding of safeguarding are essential.

Where: County wide across Hertfordshire. The majority of your time will be spent in the community, engaging directly with children and young people and working with partners across the Youth Justice Service and other local stakeholders including housing, health and education.

Full Time Hours: 37.5 per week

Full Time Salary Range: £27,861.26 - £32,002.35 (pro rata for part time hours)

Allowance: Outer Fringe Weighting £694.25 (paid pro rata)

Role Overview

Around 75% of your time will be devoted to securing funding from trusts and foundations. This includes researching, identifying new opportunities and crafting compelling, tailored funding applications. About you

In these challenging times you’ll need to channel your creative skills to develop exciting stewardship plans.

About the Role

• The London Hotel is a bespoke and time limited housing project, with 16 en-suite rooms, delivered by Westminster City Council and The Connection at St Martins. The accommodation is run from a hotel in Paddington, that has a staff office and a key work room.
• The aim of the service is to deliver a wrap-around support offer to entrenched rough sleepers, with multiple unmet needs, and who would otherwise struggle to access accommodation. The expectation put on those moving into the service is that they will be given a period of time to stabilise with health and wellbeing input and will then work towards a longer-term accommodation offer with us.
• The service provides food daily, as well as toiletries and offers other areas of support (aside from health and accommodation move on) around financial inclusion, substance dependency, obtaining ID and navigating criminal justice involvement.
• In this role, you will provide direct support to the residents of the hotel generally, as well as holding a small case load of residents who you will keywork.
• You will work closely with external partners to develop support networks around the residents and will make referrals into the relevant services. Alongside this you might need to accompany people off-site to appointments and coordinate the network around them to meet their needs. You will also need to facilitate external partners accessing the site, so they can provide support to residents.  
• Your focus when working with people will be to support them to develop a move on plan, so they can move from the hotel, into longer term accommodation. This is alongside the day to day running of the service as well as facilitating the maintenance of a trauma informed environment and dynamically responding to people’s needs.
• This is a fixed term role until 31st March 2026
