Starlight is the national charity transforming children’s health through play. We work 
to ensure that every child can benefit from the incredible power of play, supporting 
their mental and physical health during treatment and recovery from illness.
Play is not just a ‘nice to have’, without play, children can experience short, and 
long-term problems. In fact, it’s so important, that being able to engage in play is 
one of the human rights listed in the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Without play, problems faced can range from anxiety around having blood tests 
which could mean appointments being abandoned and rescheduled, to developing 
PTSD and a fear around visiting hospitals and healthcare settings. It’s not 
uncommon for health play specialists to have to meet children in the car park as 
they are too scared to even set foot inside the hospital.
Each year, there are nearly 1.8 million child hospital admissions in the UK and 
nearly three-quarters (71%) of NHS trusts and health boards do not have any 
budget for play.

This is simply not good enough; we think that play in healthcare is non-negotiable.
Driven by our research and insights into what works best for them, we provide direct 
services and resources for children and their families; and to the health 
professionals working with them. We also advocate for more and better health play 
services in public policy; and promote the full recognition of health play practitioners 
as an integral component of the children’s health workforce.
Our Health Play Services Delivery team provide physical and digital materials and 
resources which support the delivery of health play to practitioners and families. 
These are informed by insight, evidence and evaluation from our Insight and Impact 
Team.
Central to these materials and resources is our range of Boxes which contain toys 
and activities specifically selected to help children relax, distract, and engage to 
ensure their treatment can be carried out as quickly and effectively as possible with 
minimal stress. 
The current Health Play Services Delivery Manager is about to be seconded to a 
new Commercial Development role, initially for 6-months, as we shape the 
development of a new source of income for Starlight through paid for services. 
There may be the possibility of an extension to this contract depending upon the 
outcome of the secondment.
The Health Play Services Delivery Manager, reporting to our Head of Play leads the 
end-to-end process of our services. You’ll need experience in the operational 
management of service delivery and experience of working with the NHS and in 
children’s services would be an advantage. You’ll work across all areas from 
procurement through stock control to the logistics of delivery and you’ll build 
relationships internally and externally to ensure efficient, effective, high quality 
service delivery and excellent customer relationship management. Reporting 
directly to the Head of Play, you’ll manage the Service Delivery Co-ordinator and
the Service Data Officer within the Hospital Services Team.

We are looking for a brilliant community writers programme manager to grow the number of Multi Academy Trust (MAT) and school leaders writing short articles about their work inside our online community of 18,000+ school leaders and teachers. 

Your role will be to design the community writers programme, invite MAT and school leaders to write about their work on our platform and support them to write their very best stuff so they can achieve their writing and career goals.

What's the role?

Your job will be to design and deliver the community writers programme with the aim of maximising the number of MAT and school based writers who share their work on our platform so that members can learn how they achieve their results. 

• Designing and delivering the community writer programme

  • Designing the partnership offer between writers and our community

  • Producing materials that communicate what the programme is about: its aims, benefits and how it works

  • Define editorial guidelines which help us achieve our mission in line with our values

• Building the ultimate edu-blogging database

  • Design, build and maintain a list of serving MAT and school leaders who write online and their blogs

  • Add to the database by reading and sharing the blogs you find via social media

  • Grow the database through reader nominations and writer submissions

  • Post about the database on social media

• Developing relationships with MAT and school-based writers

  • Reach out to MAT and school-based writers to learn more about their work

  • Invite them to join the community and the programme

  • Work with them to evolve the programme

• Supporting MAT and school-based writers to write their best stuff and achieve their career aspirations

  • Understand why they write and help them to do it even better

  • Offer supportive accountability, feedback and resources you have created to help them generate as much engagement as possible

What experience and track record do you have?

It’s not essential you tick every box. But the more boxes you can tick the better. We can help you gain and learn from the experiences you haven’t had yet.

• Education and/or school leadership and teaching: Knowing how the MAT and school system works is a must. Knowing who does what role in MATs will help bring the right writers into the right conversations at the right time. Knowing and understanding the kinds of problems and types of conversations school leaders and teachers is also essential for this role

• Edu blog and press reading: Reading education blogs and press is something you love and do in your spare time to fuel your curiosity and keep you learning and meeting new people.

• Programme/partnership/volunteer management: Understanding what one side of a partnership needs and designing what the other side will deliver for mutual benefit is something you are good at. Tracking the impact is also important.

• Project management: Planning, tracking and delivering on project objectives across several workflows on time, every time is what gets you going. Managing multiple audiences who are likely to be at different stages of their engagement cycle.

• (Copy)writing: Writing is something you do and/or have dabbled with. Designing and writing posts and emails that convert - whether they be writer invitations, promotional posts or writer support materials. You have a keen eye for good writing and articulating why it’s good.

• Editorial / journalism experience: Having a keen eye and nose for a story. Setting expectations for delivery of writing, communicating those expectations and helping either to work within them and improve their game

• Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) - Having an understanding of SEO, key word research and on page SEO will help.

• Creating support materials: Designing and producing material that lays out expectations and provides frameworks to help others deliver and improve is something you excel at.

• Social media use/management: Using social media platforms to find and learn from MAT and school leaders, who tweet, post and write about their work and careers is something you are experienced in.

Project Scope and Time Commitment?

We plan to evolve this role in 3 phases.

• Phase 1 - focus on building a community of Directors of Education and School Improvement Leaders writing inside the community (1 day a week for 3-6 months)
• Phase 2 - widen the focus on building a community of secondary school leaders writing inside the community (additional 1 day a week from 3-6 months following the start of phase 1)
• Phase 3 - expand the role to make it a nearly full-time role managing multiple communities of writers who focus on different aspects of education.

The more successful each phase is, the greater the scope to expand the role is. We'd love to grow it with you.

BACKGROUND

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. Over 200,000 children and young people are on roll at Primary, Secondary, ASL / Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units that the charity works with, in disadvantaged areas of Scotland and England. Providing breakfast ensures that children start their school day with the energy and nutrition they need to be able to make the most of their morning lessons. Magic Breakfast also undertakes research, and campaigns for long-term solutions to end hunger as a barrier to learning.

JOB PURPOSE

Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The Engagement Partner will be responsible for the remote engagement of schools, teachers, children and young people and the communities in their allocated area. They will support schools with the setup, rollout and continuous improvement of breakfast provision, engage with the wider school community to educate on the importance of breakfast on learning and to enable increased uptake in a barrier and stigma-free way by optimising provision and encouraging reach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•To develop a relationship with the supported schools to enable, preserve, embed, enhance and extend stigma and barrier free breakfast provision.

•To educate and engage with the wider school community, including teachers, parents and children and young people on the importance of breakfast and implications of hunger as a barrier learning through various online support including assemblies, staff meetings, online events and regional events throughout the academic year, all supported remotely.

•To remotely engage with the wider community to advocate for the importance of breakfast, the work that we are doing in existing schools and to support our campaigning and advocacy strategy and plans.

• To develop brand awareness in schools and local communities in line with our marketing strategy

• To support the recruitment of new schools with remotely launching new breakfast provisions, adapting to the requirements of the school and children and young people, and advising on best practise

• To remotely support any supporter visits, volunteering or any funder related requirements

• To remotely support any media requests as directed through the Policy & Engagement team

• To capture and report on “storytelling” to enable the organisation to utilise qualitative data to support external communication

What's the role?

As Head of Business and Data systems you will lead every aspect of our data and information management across a portfolio of platforms. 

Working to ensure they speak to each other in smart and powerful ways, all offering team members and company the most up-to-date and high quality insight into the needs, priorities and challenges of members of the We Are In Beta community.

How you’ll be driving our mission forward (your responsibilities)

A. 40% making our current business and data systems work really well

• Lead data management and consistency across all systems, including 

  • Automated and manual flows needed for business activities and reporting

  • Run and refine processes for data health of contact and company records

  • Review and consolidate CRM properties, processes and protocols

• Refine and add new automations to capture most useful data instantly and robustly

• Regular cycle of updates of DfE data on schools and trust performance and demographics

B. 40% develop, improve and build out current systems to be more powerful, robust and sharp

• Develop our new newsletter platform - combining all channels into one place

  • Manage migration of current audiences

  • Design process for adding and removing subscribers, with data flow between CRM and newsletter

• Augment sales process with increased automation

What experience and track record do you have?

It’s not essential you tick every box. But the more boxes you can tick the better. It goes without saying, we can help you gain and learn from the experiences you haven’t had yet.

• Proven experience across CRM, databases, community/content platforms, newsletter distribution, integration and automation tools. This could be from previous roles such as data analytics, community building, digital marketing or business transformation.

• Comfortable with principles of coding in Python but no need to be a pro.

• Strong understanding of data management and GDPR requirements.

• Led digital transformation/change projects, with a strong approach to project management and stakeholder engagement.

• Designed and delivered training, and/or produced clear and concise written user guides, taking time to understand the needs and starting points of the team.

• Experience with management, analysis and visualisation of large-scale data sets - ideally in educational outcomes/performance.

• Experience of the realities of working for an early-stage organisation without a big team or huge budget. We are especially interested in those who have grown a tech team/function from the ground up.

Our expectation is that you have worked within the school education sector in England, though we are open to applicants who have not if you can show you have a good base of knowledge of the needs of school teachers and leaders.

Main duties and responsibilities

Partnership-building (50% of work)

• Support GRP’s established partnership-building strategy, expanding to new audiences in line with approach devised by Head of Partnerships and Strategic Communications Manager
• Support efforts to expand and strengthening GRP’s relationships with UK financial intermediaries, including wealth managers, financial planners, financial advisers and financial coaches.
• Other targeted outreach to potential institutional partners and individual donors, including:

Charity research and impact reporting (40% of work)

• Ongoing relationship management with GRP’s current recommended charities

We need a Global Communications Officer who is adaptable, personable, has an attention to detail and is ready to tackle any task with gusto. About Black Thrive 

Black Thrive Global (BTG) evolved from the work of the Black Thrive Lambeth Partnership, which was established in 2016. We exist to address the inequalities that negatively impact the mental health and wellbeing of Black people so that the thriving of Black communities is the norm. 

Our guiding principle is that Black communities should be at the forefront of reimagining, redefining and co-creating a society where systemic racism and other oppressive systems have been dismantled so that they have fulfilling lives. We have two priorities – building a Black Thrive Research Institute and embedding race equity in systems change.

Purpose of the role 

As the Programme and Partnerships Manager = Thriving Futures, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of the Thriving Futures programme, ensuring effective collaboration with partner organisations to advance Black Thrive’s mission. The Thriving Futures workstream is undergoing a strategic shift, focusing on key areas identified during its three years of operation. This includes intentional co-learning, community feedback through Black Thrive Community Assemblies, development of community metrics, and refining our role and offerings as a backbone organisation. 
 
The role entails managing the programme’s day to day activities, ensuring alignment with the programme's objectives and goals, procuring additional funding resources and managing a Project Officer. You can anticipate working with different combinations of Black Thrive locality workstreams. Your responsibilities will vary, encompassing project management, financial oversight, strategic development, communications activities, as well as engaging in learning, reflection activities and research. 

The role also has responsibility for assisting in writing and delivering grant applications and bids to major funders to secure funding to support the work of the programme.

Role Description

The Programme Manager is a highly-efficient, well-organised, and internationally-respected member of the nuclear policy community.They are expected to be able to take primary ownership of project delivery management as well as lead the development of multiple new projects, including developing ideas leading to successful fundraising.They will have strong knowledge of several methodologies which could be used for new projects and will have a track record of winning funding, as well as some knowledge of funding relationships. 

The Programme Manager will have specialisation in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Regime and will need to have a good general knowledge of global security and conflict resolution, and a demonstrable ability to design and carry out project management and research to a high standard. They are expected to be an internationally recognised researcher with a strong area of specialisation related to nuclear weapons issues, specifically in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty regime. 

The Programme Manager will implement the Non-Proliferation Treaty Monitor (NPT Monitor), a platform that provides independent analysis and information on the effectiveness and implementation of the Treaty by the NPT-recognised nuclear-weapon States. The key objective for the Programme Manager will be to develop this project to a level where the NPT Monitor becomes a permanent and essential fixture of the NPT regime, providing significant analysis on treaty implementation for States Parties (especially smaller delegations), NGOs, and academia. 

The Programme Manager will demonstrate exceptional leadership and vision within the nuclear policy community. They will have a robust track record of policy-relevant publications. A strong network in their area of specialisation is essential, and they are expected to maintain and expand it to benefit BASIC. The Programme Manager will also be responsible for line managing team members across multiple projects, demonstrating exceptional leadership and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

For the Senior Policy Fellow title, we expect a well-developed professional network, particularly in fundraising relationships; we expect the ability to manage large scale, complex projects with budgets exceeding £400,000/year; and we expect an independently developed vision for the growth and further development of the programme including a fundraising strategy to match this ambition. This role also demands a formal project or programme management qualification, although we are open to discussing the provision of training if this has not already been achieved.

About you

We're seeking a passionate and experienced user experience (UX) leader to spearhead our user-centred design initiatives. You'll champion a culture of evidence-based optimisation, manage analytics to blend qualitative and quantitative insights and collaborate with our lived experience team to ensure inclusive product development. You'll lead upstream product activities, partnering with various teams to align digital strategies with organisational goals. Your responsibilities will include conducting discovery activities, supporting downstream development, and contributing to product vision and roadmap creation. You'll also oversee user research, usability testing, and the implementation of a comprehensive content strategy.

We are looking for candidates who’ve a strong background in user centred design, analytics, and product development. With a particular focus on accessibility and inclusivity.

You’ll need a proven track record in a head of user experience position or be a lead user experience designer, prepared for your next career step. You should be driven by a desire to create positive change through your work and possess strong leadership skills to mentor and guide team members.

We value a collaborative and proactive approach, coupled with expertise in conducting research with marginalised groups on sensitive topics. Experience of working with external design and development partners is a plus. Primary location of role and hybrid working

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics (NCOB) is looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and organised communications all-rounder to support our communication and engagement activities and assist in our mission to ‘Make Ethics Matter’.

The role

The Communications and Engagement Officer role combines work on events, stakeholder management, public affairs and communications, all seeking to build audience engagement and increase the profile and influence of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics.

The is a vital role within our Executive team, working across our priority areas and workstreams, with range of stakeholders, and utilising a variety of channels including in person and online events, website, email, social media and traditional media.

The Communications and Engagement Officer reports to the Senior Communications Manager and works closely with them across all communications functions. This post will have responsibility for updating our website, running our social media channels, producing internal and external newsletters and championing and maintaining our new brand identity, which is being introduced from November 2024. The post holder will also help to deliver our media relations and policy influencing activities, playing an active role in delivering media campaigns and in supporting our Parliamentary and Government engagement.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills across the full range of communications and engagement, working on projects and campaigns in the high-profile area of bioethics, and supporting our ambitious policy-influencing agenda. 

About you 

We are looking for someone with experience across the communications and engagement mix, including in events and internal communications, stakeholder management and digital and social media content creation. Our work focuses on research and policy in health and life sciences, and while you don’t need to be an expert in those areas, you should have an enthusiasm to develop knowledge of them and the ability to quickly get to grips with the landscape in which the Nuffield Council operates, our strategy and our target audiences. 

You will enjoy working in a team environment and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be confident working with a range of stakeholders, ranging from subject specialists and academics to policy makers, journalists and members of the public. We are seeking someone who can think creatively about communicating complex and technical research and can work independently on a range of projects. You will be highly organised, with good project management skills and the ability to prioritise and work across several projects at once. 

We are looking for someone with a creative mind, strong news sense and ability to tailor communications to the appropriate audience. You will be able to turn your hand to writing newsletter copy, consultation responses, stakeholder emails and event materials / briefings to a high standard. You will be able to distil key messages from our outputs and use them to create content for a range of communication channels and audiences. 

Ideally, you will have some experience of managing both online and face-to-face events. You will be confident working with audio visual equipment and systems and have experience of using data for analysis, reporting and evaluation. 

Stakeholder engagement is a big part of the role, so you will need some knowledge and experience of using databases/CRM systems to manage and report on stakeholder communications.

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics (NCOB) is a leading independent policy and research centre, and the foremost bioethics body in the UK. We are on a mission to embed ethics in decisions regarding biomedicine and heath so that we all benefit.

Your role

You will work most closely with colleagues in Music, Creative Industries and Communications as currently this is where a lot of our project work and innovative activity is situated. However, your role will have an impact across the whole department and beyond fundraising as you work with the Senior Creative Industries Projects Manager to lead teams of colleagues to deliver superb projects and genuinely innovative activities.

You will use your experience from a range of cultural settings to drive attaching the right names, the right feeling, ambition, timing and storytelling to all of the projects you work on, underpinning all aspects of project management with genuine innovation, creativity and understanding the nature of the industry you are navigating.

You will proactively project manage a range of projects and support the delivery of others. You will design and lead research and development projects, growing the pipeline of fundraising opportunities and expanding our work across the creative industries, contributing to the vision of War Child being the charity of the Creative Industries. 

Your responsibilities

· Work with the Senior Creative Industries Projects Manager to implement a range of cross-team fundraising events & initiatives, leading aspects of the project as agreed.

· Lead the delivery and strategically grow major cornerstone project and annual fundraiser Secret 7”. You will devise project plans, manage complex budgets and coordinate cross team engagement, evaluating working nimbly throughout to adjust priorities and resolve issues, in order to maximise income.

· Lead on the department's ecommerce platform with support from the Creative Industries Executive, including building creative campiagns and concepts, developing, delivering and reporting against annual income targets, creating bespoke product ranges, coordinating cross team collaboration and managing range of external stakeholder relationships in order to maximise shop income and reach ambitious income targets. You will use your initative to make strategic reccomendations based on your research and knowledge of up to date e-commerse trends.

· Proactively research, test and develop new fundraising initiatives that span a range of creative industries including Art, fashion, film, theatre etc. and play a crucial role in annual planning.

· Assess and develop existing income generating projects, analysing risk and opportunity to determine the best way forward. Support the Senior Creative Industries Manager in developing new ideas and building relationships across the creative industries that support the fundraising mission.

· To provide first-rate line management to Creative Industries Executive.  

· Manage relationships and influence at every level of seniority, diplomatically leading working groups and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders in order to deliver collaborative projects and events.

· Identify and build relationships with a range of Creative Ambassadors, developing first rate cultivation plans based on the needs of the Fundraising and Communications teams, to enable sustainable growth.

· Responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting of the activities and income streams that you project manage

· Champion Salesforce usage to increase efficiency of team and work with data team to ensure all Creative Industries are effectively integrated to Salesforce.

· Maintain an up to date knowledge of current activities of War Child and be an advocate of the War Child brand

·  Ensure consistency across all War Child public facing events and activations, specifically that: 

o the WCUK brand is represented in a way that reflects our work on the ground

o our delivery is high quality, professional and in line with the expectations of key stakeholders

o the public messaging for each event is clear, and part of a broader narrative around our story that makes sense

· Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to WCUK’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.
