Since 2004, Village Water has been dedicated to transforming lives in Africa by providing vital support in hygiene promotion, sanitation facilities, and safe water (WASH) in rural communities of Zambia and Mozambique.

Key information:  

Location: Remote working. (UK only) Must be able to attend a minimum of 5 mandatory meetings per year (includes overnight stay for 2-day meetings) at our office in Shrewsbury and occasional meetings elsewhere.

Job Purpose  

To develop and manage your own portfolio of existing trusts, community and individual donors, and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support. This role will focus on producing high-quality applications and reports to funders and by providing excellent account management and cross-team collaboration.     

Responsibilities  

Trust Fundraising  

• Develop, manage, and maintain a trust fundraising portfolio with a clear, scheduled pipeline of funding applications, coordinating opportunities and team resources to meet targets. 

• Cultivate strong working relationships with current and new trust and foundations, proactively seeking meetings. 

• Collaborate with colleagues to create compelling proposals and reports. 

• Work with monitoring and finance colleagues to inform impact and budgetary needs, ensuring timely reporting to donors in line with their grant conditions. 

• Build resilient, long-term relationships with identified supporters, keeping them well-informed about events, campaigns, projects, and the charity itself, to foster a strong sense of belonging to Village Water. 

• Use multiple research methods and communication channels to build and manage a prospective donor pipeline. 

• Research and write applications to grant-making trusts, targeting an amount in line with Village Water's annual budget, with an emphasis on securing unrestricted funds where possible. 

• Maintain legacy communications and promote legacy options to our long-standing supporters. 

• Ensure all information on your portfolio of donors is well stewarded, recorded, and actioned in Village Water's database. 

• Develop ad-hoc events and campaigns both in person and via Zoom, recruiting and managing volunteers where necessary. 

• Send personalised thank-you communications and updates to individual supporters, manage ongoing engagement with regular donors, and oversee the distribution of physical milestone cards to celebrate significant achievements. 

• Support fundraising team with social media content ideas that highlight our activities and showcases the impact. 

General   

• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, external suppliers, and local partners to advance organisational goals. 

• Attend networking events and build relationships that benefit Village Water. 

• Participate in and report during weekly team meetings and, when necessary, at Trustee meetings. 

• Provide assistance for other fundraising initiatives as needed, promoting a collaborative work environment and supporting the overall fundraising efforts of the organisation. 

• Ensure compliance with the organisation's safeguarding policies by completing all required training. 

Skills and experience: 

• Demonstrable success in securing grants, including awards between £20-£100k. 

• Confident and effective communicator with excellent presentation skills, able to engage with a range of supporters in groups, individually, face-to-face, and remotely. 

• Proven experience in writing compelling cases for support and supporter updates that inspire and persuade donors. 

• Ability to develop, analyse, and interpret budgets and financial information. 

• Strong database skills, including experience in fundraising performance analysis.

Role summary

Working within our Programmes Team, you will secure over £200k of new income for each financial year to fund disability-inclusive programmes from a range of donors.

You will build relationships with corporates, trusts and foundations, institutional donors and other consortium partners, researching and identifying new funders and new opportunities whose strategic objectives and focus areas are aligned with our own.

You will work collaboratively with the Programmes Team and our Network members in Africa to develop and write compelling and high-quality proposals. You will develop new projects, MEAL plans and multi-year budgets.

You will work both independently and collaboratively to develop proposals. With excellent time management and organisational skills, you will demonstrate the ability to deliver quality work and meet deadlines, while managing a varied workload.

About you

We are looking for a passionate, ambitious and self-motivated individual, with excellent written and verbal communications skills, to join our Programmes Team at a pivotal time in the organisation.

The Communications and Events Manager will lead on overall execution of TSA communications and events, working closely with the Joint Chief Executive. The role is one of the most front-facing and proactive offered at the TSA.

We’re looking for a Data Officer to join our growing Young Sounds team. You will fulfil an important cross-organisational role, working closely with the team to collate and analyse the data collected through all our programmes.

About Young Sounds UK

Young Sounds exists because musical talent is everywhere but opportunity isn’t: family finances and other obstacles too often get in the way. We’re here to change this in two key ways:

• We support young musicians from low-income families with funding and other help;

• We support music education through training, advocacy and research.

We became an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation in April 2023 and also joined an expanded cohort of National Youth Music Organisations (NYMOs). We currently support around 900 individual young people across the UK every year and demand for our support is increasing. It’s an exciting time to join a pioneering organisation at the forefront of British music education.

The role

The Data Officer will fulfil an important cross-organisational role, working closely with the team to collate and analyse the data collected through all our programmes. Young Sounds is a reflective organisation. We’ve always invested time and effort in seeking out, understanding and demonstrating the difference our programmes are making. We believe in learning from experience. This is what we mean by evaluation.

Since 2023 we have committed to evaluating all three of our main programmes, each of which tackles a key barrier to young people’s musical progression. Each quarter we review our progress against both our Arts Council England Activity Plan (where measures of success are agreed annually) and the actions we’ve set for each year against each of Arts Council England’s four Investment Principles. We believe that data plays an integral part in telling the story of our work, and we regularly draw upon the information collated through evaluation to update our wider funding base (e.g. Trusts and Foundations) on the work we are doing. The Data Officer will work with the External Evaluator to enable us to report effectively and accurately on our progress to all our funders.

Lumos is an international children’s charity founded in 2005 by the author J.K. Rowling to end the harmful practice of institutionalisation of children. Lumos’s mission is to fight for every child’s right to a family by transforming care systems around the world. Our vision is for all children to grow up in safe and loving families. Purpose of role

The incoming Chief Executive Officer will be coming into the organisation at a time of change and will lead on delivering the refreshed 2024 - 2026 Strategy and build on Lumos’ unique comparative advantage and successful work in eastern Europe. • Give active and significant support to Lumos fundraisers and take a leading part in the cultivation of prospective and current donors. Support the Director to diversify the fundraising base and ensure financial sustainability.
• Engage with institutional funders, Trusts and Foundations, corporates and high-net-worth-individuals, attracting new donors and continuing to grow the Lumos’ partnership base and international networks.
• Be accountable to the Board for strategic finance and operational financial management, consolidating financial stability, efficiency, and impact.

Governance

• With the support of the Board of Trustees, work with the Director of Corporate Services to oversee the implementation of the governance function and recommendations as required.
• Ensure the Board is enabled fully to carry out their role, that governance meets the highest possible standards, and that Lumos is fully compliant in all areas.
• Ensure robust project planning and reporting are championed and embedded through the organisation in line with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
• Ensure the application of safeguarding best practice within Lumos and appropriately with the organisation’s partners.

Programmes

• Support Lumos Country Directors in the implementation of their national care reform strategies and collaborative partnerships with governments, and international and local civil society organisations.
• Support the Director of Programmes in sharing the organisation’s learning so that Governments and key stakeholders have the appropriate tools, resources and understanding to create meaningful change.
• Support the Director of Programmes to deliver a portfolio of excellent programmes for children, ensuring the safe and successful transition of current country programmes towards the new strategy and systematise the documentation and dissemination of transferable learning.
• Support the Director of Programmes to deliver safe and quality services in line with annual plans and donor requirements.

Programmes: evidence and advocacy

• Engage and influence multiple stakeholders nationally and internationally (within central, national, and local governments, with the commercial sector, the voluntary sector and in the media), enhancing the visibility of Lumos and its ability to inspire and drive social change for care reform.
• Guide the formulation of the organisation’s position with a view to influencing policy that achieves change in line with Lumos’ priorities.
• Represent the work of Lumos at the highest levels with partners, across the political spectrum and globally, and act as a champion and advocate for the organisation externally.
• Champion implementation research to deepen understanding of the drivers of institutionalisation and identify opportunities for prevention of separation of children from families and family strengthening.
• Oversee the measurement and evaluation of our work to achieve the appropriate reporting of demonstrable impact.

Programmes: child and young people

• Further develop and implement the meaningful participation of children, young people and other groups with lived experience.

Our Philanthropy Lead will join an established High Value team, who collectively raise in excess of £5m+ a year. We are looking for a visionary, dynamic, and empathetic leader who is excited to work closely with the Parkinson’s community to secure vital donations towards our strategic priorities - including our multi-year Parkinson’s UK Nurse Appeal, ground-breaking Parkinson’s research and the Virtual Biotech, our international drug discovery programme. 

This role will lead, influence and embed the major donor strategy and line manage a high performing team. You'll deliver your own prospect/donor cultivation activity and generate new leads by working with our committed and high profile senior volunteers. 

You'll collaborate with colleagues and leaders across the charity to identify prospects and opportunities to give at a transformational level. You'll present and inspire philanthropic support for our work across the board, ranging from our much needed information and support services through to our Parkinson’s Virtual Biotech drug development programme, which is leading the way in driving forward new pioneering treatments. 

What you’ll do:

• Lead the Philanthropy team to deliver our ambitious multi-year income targets 

• Build on the team’s existing strategy, working closely with the Head on the overall strategic direction

• Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with your pipeline of donors and prospects (focused on £100k+ gifts)

• Collaborate with key colleagues and senior volunteers to build the £1m+ transformational gift pipeline

• Oversee, support and coach the Philanthropy team with their prospect/donor cultivation and stewardship activity 

What you’ll bring:

• Craft and passion for as well as extensive experience of successful major donor fundraising, with a track record of securing five and six figure gifts 

• The ability to proactively identify, qualify and generate new prospects to help grow and develop the team’s pipelines

• Build links and partnerships with Universities and similar organisations and deliver rummage sales, kilo sales, pop up shops and donation drives.

• To contribute, develop, manage, and report on financial budgets, income and costs regularly with a focus on net surplus generation, working closely with the Finance department.
• Have an understanding of other SVP work and be able to promote it to external contacts appropriately, and work with SVP members to compliment their work and develop links.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Proven track record in researching, negotiating and developing new and net surplus generating projects
• Experience of financial management and budgetary control, and proven ability in business planning, and maximisation of net surplus
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and evidence of using them to communicate with different audiences
• Excellent and natural networking, influencing and negotiating skills, including the ability to collaborate and build partnerships through the development of contacts with senior external stakeholders
• IT literate with good competence in the use of Microsoft Office
• Good standard of Education, preferably to Higher or Degree level

Role duties and responsibilities:

Storytelling

• Working with colleagues across Alert’s programming, identify projects that demonstrate the impact of our work and the need for peacebuilding in the countries where we work.
• Coordinate the development of impact stories, photo essays, videos and other engaging methods of storytelling for use on our website, on social media, by the press and elsewhere.
• Write and edit impact stories, photo essays and video scripts, and draft occasional press releases and blogs.
• Create or edit simple video content
• Commission photographers, photojournalists and videographers to accompany and support country teams in developing stories of impact.
• Manage the dissemination plans for storytelling outputs, including via traditional media, and digital platforms including social media.
• Monitor media coverage of the organisation and compile a daily digest of key news stories relating to peace and conflict for sharing with staff.
• Assist the Head of Communications and Media with monitoring the media email account and media phone, including out-of-hours media calls.
• Maintaining and advising on consent for stories and imagery
• Developing and maintaining an image library for Alert, including identifying gaps in the library and commissioning photography accordingly.

Publications

• Project manage the production of high-quality publications for teams in London and our overseas offices, including process management and supplier relations.
• Liaise with external vendors, including editors, translators, graphic designers, printers and photographers.
• Monitor production schedules to ensure that all publications are completed and signed off in a timely manner.
• Plan and co-ordinate the delivery and launch of publications.
• Draft key messages about our publications for the website, social media, newsletters, press releases and other channels.
• Lead on the procurement of suppliers, including recruiting new ones and managing the contracting process.
• Assist with the financial management of publications production by monitoring and processing invoices.

Events coordination

• Lead on the delivery of external corporate events (in-person and online), especially for the launch of new research. Appropriate support, resources and workload would be considered.

Quality control and branding

• Ensure all communications outputs comply with our brand identity, house style and quality standards.

Contributing to the effective working of the team and to Alert generally

We are seeking an experienced Trusts and Foundations Officer preferably from the North of England to join the fundraising team at the Batten Disease Family Association (BDFA). Home based with occasional travel to Yorkshire 

The BDFA is the only patient organisation in the UK for families affected by Batten disease, a rare and terminal neurodegenerative condition that affects children and young adults. The BDFA offers informed guidance and support to families and the professionals who work with them, as well as actively raising awareness, and promoting research into the management of Batten disease to improve patient care pathways and ultimately find a cure.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation, which has grown to offer additional support services for families affected by Batten disease and to implementing a long-term strategy to develop its advocacy, education and research capabilities. We’re looking for an individual who has the experience and skills to manage and nurture relationships with our existing funders from charitable trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies, ensuring they feel inspired by our work and the patients and families we support.

The role will incorporate managing a sizeable portfolio of Trusts and Foundations through excellent stewardship, and to build on this strong foundation, developing and submitting winning funding proposals to create a high-quality pipeline of new funding opportunities. The successful candidate will work as part of the Fundraising team, under the guidance of our Chief Executive Officer to continue our strategy to diversify income through this key funding stream.

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

- Experience and a proven track record of successful Trusts and Foundations income generation.

- Demonstratable experience in researching potential Trust funders, submitting compelling proposals, securing funding and project managing successful bids through to completion of the grant award.

- A background in report writing and demonstrating grant impact whilst being able to build relationships with funders and individual/major donors.

- Experience of providing excellent supporter care and building mutually beneficial long-term relationships with funders.

- Experience of targeting large grant-making bodies and securing 5-6 figure grants

- Expert knowledge of fundraising landscape, particularly Trusts & Foundations.

This job requires a motivated individual who has a passion for all those within our Batten community and a strong desire to support the development and financial growth of the BDFA. The role is full time (35 hours per week) and is home based with occasional travel to Yorkshire (where the CEO is based) and around the UK to meet donors and support fundraising events.
