About The Hygiene Bank

Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford many of the everyday hygiene and personal grooming products most of us take for granted. The reality of low income is that it restricts people’s options, leaving us caught between being able to heat our homes, pay the rent, eat, or be clean.  It is washing hair, bodies, faces and clothes in the same cheap washing-up liquid used for the dishes. It is not being able to replace a toothbrush when needed or sharing a toothbrush because one each just isn't an option. It is having to choose between shaving foam and razors or the transport fare to a job interview.

Hygiene Poverty is the hidden crisis facing the UK. Earlier this year, The Hygiene Bank published a research report into the incidence and impact of hygiene poverty. It found that over 4.2m adults in the UK are affected by hygiene poverty, that is an additional 1.1m people into hygiene poverty since 2022 - the equivalent of the population of Birmingham. 

With hygiene poverty on the rise, it is also undermining the nation’s health: 50% of those affected by hygiene poverty say that it is causing them anxiety or depression. 92% of people affected report that it limits their social interactions with friends and family. 54% of those affected have not gone to the dentist in the last 12 months. But most importantly, it’s putting people in impossible situations. A staggering 69% of adults experiencing hygiene poverty are having to make the difficult decision between paying for essential needs like food and bills or purchasing basic toiletries. 65% of parents affected by hygiene poverty have had to choose between buying hygiene products for themselves or their children.

About the role

This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary Communications Team working together to raise awareness of the work of The Hygiene Bank. The successful candidate will develop and deliver effective marketing and communications content, with a special focus on digital channels, to promote The Hygiene Bank’s work, partnerships, and year-round fundraising activity – including National Hygiene Week and brand collaborations – and demonstrate the positive impact donations have had on communities across the UK. The postholder will work together with the Senior Volunteer Experience, Communications and Fundraising Manager and the Head of Fundraising, Communications and External Engagement to implement the Communications Strategy using a range of marketing and communications activities to actively engage a variety of audiences to raise awareness of hygiene poverty in the UK.

Responsibilities include: creating content for social media, our monthly newsletter and our website; creating engaging and compelling promotional materials; using high-quality storytelling to produce blogs, liaising with our volunteers to identify good stories and producing case studies and news articles for the website and supporting the wider team as required.

Experience

You will have a minimum of two years’ experience in the following:

· Either Marketing or Communications .

Key Details

· Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 p.a depending on experience (pro rata, part-time, 4 days per week) dependent on skills and experience.

Data and Insight Analyst

About the role

We are looking for someone who has a passion for working with data, and providing business intelligence that leads to action. If you love creating simple ways to explain complex data, and are excited by revealing the stories hidden within the data, then this could be the role for you.

Your main focus will be to provide reporting and research for our fundraising and marketing initiatives, helping to create a clear view of our marketing directorate performance. You will work closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to understand business intelligence requirements, scope out projects and deliver reporting to agreed specifications.

You will work closely with colleagues to ensure that reporting is used and a data-driven culture established. The outputs from your work will lead to insight that supports strategy development, and future investment decisions. Some projects will focus on other areas of organisational data, such as measuring our impact, or our financial model, as required.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have proven experience in analysing data and producing reporting, ideally using some advanced techniques for data extraction and manipulation (such as SQL) and a modern data visualisation tool (such as Power BI or Tableau). Full training will be provided, to enable the postholder to develop into a fully rounded data analyst, including training in the maintenance and development of our in-house data warehouse. 

About you

We are looking for a pro-active self starter, who has a passion for working with data and a hunger to learn. You will be patient and methodical in your work, and be able to focus both on the technical aspects of data analysis and reporting, and also understand the strategic thinking that your work will contribute to.

You’ll be great at building relationships with stakeholders, and be comfortable in communicating complex information through a variety of means. 

Your work will help to ensure that we maximise efficiency in our fundraising programmes, and as such you’ll be comfortable challenging the status quo, and making suggestions for how we might change, as we look to continuously improve.

Key Working Relationships

The successful candidate will work closely with all colleagues from within the Marketing Directorate, IT, Finance, Fundraising, and potentially all areas of Practical Action here there may be reporting needs.

External relationships with consultants/agencies, and third party software suppliers.

Accountabilities:

• To contribute towards the development and production of a large and complex portfolio of reports, produced by the Data and Insight Team. 
• To work closely with colleagues to embed reporting into day-to-day work, encouraging a data-driven and evidence-based approach to decision making.
• To work with the Senior Data Services Analyst, Data and Insight Manager and IT, to develop our data structures and architecture, enabling a robust data model and real-time reporting.
• Develop our use of Power BI, our data visualisation tool of choice, keeping up to date with latest reporting technologies and proposing changes and enhancements to such software where appropriate.
• To work with colleagues across the marketing directorate and wider Organisation to understand business intelligence requirements, scope out projects and deliver reporting to agreed specifications, presenting complex information through a variety of means.   
• To work with marketing audience strategists and the Data and Insight Manager in the commissioning and production of research, and contribute to statistical modelling projects.
• To propose and pro-actively undertaking supporter analysis with the aim of promoting efficiencies and value for money within fundraising campaigns.
• Play a key role in strategic projects, as required, acting as a subject matter expert for data, covering a range of topics, such as supporter journey mapping, process documentation / re-design, software implementation to name just a few.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1.Main purpose of role

To develop The Family Centre Deaf Children’s (FCDC) fundraising channels and secure income from grant funders and individual donors in order to sustain and develop the charity’s services and infrastructure, building strong relationships with key stakeholders and contributing to FCDC's overall strategic development, aims and operations.

The Development Officer is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of our Fundraising Strategy 2024-2029 to support the charity’s continuous improvement, financial sustainability and future growth.

The post holder will be responsible for inspiring individual donations to the charity through local giving initiatives and further developing the charity’s existing income channels including:

· Community and events fundraising

· Individual giving

· Grants from Trusts and Foundations and other relevant grant income sources.

2.Duties and Responsibilities

2.1 General

· To champion FCDC’s vision, mission, ethos and values (internally and externally).

· To comply with all relevant charity and other legislation.

· To uphold and contribute to the updating of FCDC’s internal policies and codes of conduct.

2.2 Income generation from individuals

· Sustain and grow FCDC’s individual donor base and community fundraising in line with agreed income targets.

· Work alongside FCDC’s Fundraising Working Group, Centre Manager and Events and Family Development Officer to develop and coordinate an annual calendar of community fundraising events.

2.3 Income generation from Trusts, Foundations and Statutory Agencies

· Maximise income from grant-giving organisations to ensure sustainable growth of restricted and unrestricted income in line with agreed income targets.

· Build and manage relationships with Trusts and Foundations to secure grants of £5,000 or more.

· Research, contact, correspond and meet with funders (as and when required) to build relationships prior to submitting funding applications.

· Collaborate with the FCDC team across the organisation to create compelling fundraising proposals and produce high-quality applications, reports and budgets.

· To assume responsibility for a portfolio of current and potential grant funders to maintain, grow and/or revive their support for the charity.

· Develop a robust pipeline of charitable Trusts and Foundations to support FCDC’s services and activities.

· Maintain relationships with funders between applications to nurture positive relationships between them and FCDC.

· Work alongside the Centre Manager and Board of Trustees to develop partnerships and positive working relationships with current and potential grant funders.

2.4 Donor engagement and stewardship

· Working closely with FCDC’s Centre Manager and the Chair to develop a donor journey that encourages long term support from individuals.

· Process individual donations, including: recording donations, thanking supporters in a timely fashion and responding to ad hoc supporter queries.

· Contribute to and proofread fundraising appeals, marketing materials and FCDC digital content.

· Support existing and new supporters of the charity in their initiatives to raise funds for FCDC.

2.5 Funder and donor data management

· Ensure that all funders and individual donor contacts and activity are accurately recorded on our funder and donor database.

· Work alongside the Centre Manager to ensure that all personal data is gathered, held, and used in-line with relevant data protection regulations and FCDC’s Data Protection Policy.

· Accurately record Trusts, Foundations and other grant income data on FCDC’s financial ICT system.

· Compile and submit timely funder reports, working alongside the Centre Manager in checking monitoring data, proofreading reports and ensuring reports are uploaded to funder portals, as and when required.

2.6 Fundraising Strategy 2024-2029

· Oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of FCDC’s Fundraising Strategy 2024-2029, with specific focus on individual giving, community fundraising and Trusts and Foundations.

· Support the Chair and Centre Manager to set up a new Fundraising and Events Working Group (consisting of volunteers, service users, Trustees and staff), who will support and act as a sounding board for new fundraising initiatives and open doors to new income streams.

· Keep up-to-date with fundraising trends, opportunities and best practice and recommend changes in our funding strategies and annual fundraising action plans.

· Maximise income from new fundraising opportunities as and when they arise in the course of our work. For example: local sports group donations and company payroll giving.

2.7 Reporting

· Regularly report on fundraising outputs, outcomes and the impact of fundraising initiatives to staff, the Chair and the Board of Trustees.

· Contribute to funder monitoring activities and evaluation reports to ensure that FCDC meets its reporting obligations to funders.

2.8 Other

· Contribute to FCDC’s positive working culture, strategic direction and the future growth of FCDC by participating in team meetings, supporting other staff in their work and contributing ideas and feedback across the organisation.

· Ensure that key stakeholder enquiries, contact details and other relevant records are maintained and kept up-to-date.

· Undertake other reasonable duties and responsibilities which the Chair may request from time to time.

Somerset Environmental Records Centre Manager

For almost 40 years Somerset Environmental Records Centre (SERC) has been the focal organisation for holding data on wildlife sightings, types of habitats and geological information for Somerset.

This is an exciting time for SERC as we drive forward in a mission to have at least 30% of land managed positively for nature by 2030 (30 x 30). We are looking for an experienced and ambitious manager to implement the strategy and grow and manage the SERC Team, whilst positioning SERC as the ‘go to’ ecological data evidence provider for an increasing range of stakeholders in the county.

Job Description – Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Strategy and Business Development:

The SERC Manager will be part of the Operational Management Team of the Somerset Wildlife Trust, supporting the Senior Leadership Team through clear strategy and business development by:

• Developing and overseeing the strategic growth, business planning and operational management of SERC.
• Ensuring SERC is financially sustainable and growing by seeking income generating opportunities to develop SERC business, identifying additional markets and services, and developing and implementing a Business Plan.
• Positioning SERC as the ‘go to’ ecological data evidence provider for the county and leading the marketing and communications to drive this forward.
• Ensuring SERC has capability and resource to achieve commitments through Service Level Agreements, ensuring that SERC is having a positive contribution to planning and policy across the county.
• Overseeing the development and delivery of the Somerset State of Nature Report, ensuring the team can analyse and interpret data to establish trends and identify where action for nature recovery needs to occur as the process for monitoring delivery of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Somerset.

Responsibility 1: Data Analysis and Services

Manage a robust data collection and interpretation service by:

• Establishing customer requirements, including researching and monitoring of users’ needs.
• Ensuring high quality information underpins data searches to enable effective planning decisions
• Overseeing the work programmes in data capture, entry, management, analysis, interpretation and dissemination to support evidence driven decision-making.
• Negotiating SLAs with key existing and new service users.

Responsibility 2: SERC Team Management

Achieve the aims of the Business Plan agreed with SERC Executive Group and Somerset Wildlife Trust through:

• Managing the SERC team in the setting of objectives, considering succession, priorities and work programmes to ensure high quality, efficient and timely delivery of projects and services to users.

About the Film & Television Charity 

The film, TV and cinema sectors are widely admired and crucial to the UK economy, both in terms of our exceptional creative talent and the sector’s growing economic importance. But a culture of long hours, challenging conditions, and sometimes harmful cultures and behaviours can also make it a tough sector to work in, with the retention of talent an ongoing problem as a result. In 2019, the charity found that 9 in 10 working behind the scenes had experienced poor mental health in what was described as a ‘mental health crisis’.  More recently, with a host of factors challenging job security in the sector, the charity has also uncovered a startling lack of financial resilience across the workforce, with financial pressures only contributing to pressure on mental health and wellbeing.

The Film and TV Charity exists to support the 200,000 people who work in TV, film and cinema. Since the introduction of the Film and TV Support Line in 2018, the charity has been on an exciting journey of change and has joined industry partners at the forefront of the movement to make work better for everyone in the industry.

Role Overview 

Working with the Whole Picture Toolkit’s Digital Product Manager, wider digital roles, and our industry and mental health subject matter experts, you’ll help shape the future product. 

The Toolkit supports the mental health and wellbeing of thousands of crew members across the UK and on location overseas, through guides and templates.

This broad hands-on role offers a great opportunity to develop product skills and demonstrate how important content design techniques are in helping meet user and charity needs. 

The role will evolve as research and testing determine the proportion of new content and features needed in the next version of the Toolkit – ideal for someone looking to develop their product management skills.

The Toolkit is currently in a discovery phase, so the focus of this contract will be on product research, including analytics, user research, competitor research and supporting product scoping, as well as content planning and preparing for production. The role will also lead on maintaining the content and functionality of the current Toolkit.

• Design and write structured, clear, optimised content for various digital formats, including printing (later in contract)
• Update content, navigation and links across products and services – for example, on websites, forms, email, customer data and social media – using content management and other systems, including Wordpress.

The Head of Support Services will oversee sustainable recovery interventions which may include structured psycho-social 1:1 ​and group activities, counselling and therapy, peer and mentoring support, with services ​co-produced by clinicians and health professionals, and insight and knowledge from experts ​by experience. ​

The candidate should demonstrate previous experience of management and oversight of similar programmes of work, within mental health, addiction or community NHS or voluntary sectors. ​

Experience of gambling support and treatment and/or harm minimisation programmes is desirable, but not essential.​

Working with other members of the Senior Management Team, they will input into the management of the charity, as well as supporting grant, contract and tender submissions, operational management, governance, performance and contract monitoring and outcome reporting. This will include financial planning and budgeting.​

Key responsibilities and accountabilities​

Development and Delivery ​

• Manage the strategic and operational performance of services to agreed standards and targets with the Director of Support Services and CEO.​
• Provide management oversight to service teams and ensure the activities they are leading on are delivered to set quality and outcomes, that they are safe and operate in positive environments, and adequately supervised, monitored, audited and reviewed.​
• Provide management oversight to the charity’s portfolio of programmes and projects, including those within the National Gambling Support Network (NGSN)​
• Ensure strategic & performance coverage of all areas of service delivery outlined in the services’ SLAs.​
• Review service delivery and implement necessary changes, to ensure high quality service, reflecting best practice and clear impact for all service users.​
• Conduct regular supervision with staff and service users about service effectiveness and maximise client involvement in service design and development.​

Monitoring and Evaluation​

• Produce a monthly service review, linked to the charity’s strategy and business plan.​
• Manage monitoring and evaluation framework and oversee CMS/CRM systems.​
• Liaise with external support networks, such as universities and research organisations, to aid data management requirements.​

Line Management​

• Ensure staff are recruited, supervised and developed in accordance with Betknowmore UK systems and processes, in particular annual planning and review and objective setting.​
• Support the provision of staff training to the highest standard and in accordance with Betknowmore quality assurance standards ​
• Provide HR support and on-going staff line management.​
• Liaise with Clinical Supervisor to ensure staff have adequate support and resources.​
• Contribute to the development of services knowledge and practice, by keeping up to date with current research and practice and ensuring that the clinical and support approach of the teams reflects such current information as appropriate.​

Partnerships Building and Collaboration​

• Develop our operational and strategic relationship with external partners and stakeholders to maximise the success and impact of Betknowmore UK services.​
• Co-ordinate Betknowmore UK contribution to service-related networks ensuring attendance at relevant operational and strategic meetings and provide feedback and sharing of information.​
• Represent the organisation at events, webinars and other meetings to inform service development and promote best practice in service delivery.​

Financial Management​

• Oversee budgets and expenditure related to the services and help meet targets.​
• Provide oversight to petty cash and day to day expenses.​
• Assist with other fundraising associated with service development as agreed with Senior Management Team.​

Health and Safety Responsibilities​

• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff, clients and other beneficiaries is intact.​
• Oversee Betknowmore UK premises and risk assess external sites, ensuring all working environments work correctly to policies and procedures. ​
• Ensure that Betknowmore UK Diversity and Equality policies are upheld.​

General​

• Attend regular supervision sessions with the Director of Support Services.​
• To operate with clear professional & confidentiality boundaries to work within the organisations code of conduct.​
• To carry out other duties commensurate with the post.​

Qualifications or Relevant Experience​

• Educated to degree level or equivalent​

• Experience of working with complex addiction and/or high support needs service users (group and 1:1 work)​
• Experience of safeguarding lead and procedures​
• Demonstrable track record of achieving successful outcomes and performance indicators at management level in a comparable national/ international organisation​
• Good understanding of IT applications and database​

• Ability to work with service users with multiple needs across diverse/emerging communities.​

About the Role:

The Executive Assistant will be at the heart of the charity's activities, providing an efficient organisational hub around which the charity operates. Your key responsibilities will include coordinating diaries, managing meeting logistics, and handling agendas and minutes with precision. We have established a new office home in Stockport and are growing fast, building partnerships with social prescribers, GP practices and numerous other bodies as we seek to support as many men as possible.
