Research Engagement Manager Jobs

This interesting role will support the theatre’s ambition to increase our revenue fundraising and development capabilities. In particular the post holder will be responsible for researching, cultivating, preparing applications for and stewarding Charitable Trusts and Foundations to raise funds for our Community and Outreach work and Play Your Part capital campaign. The focus will be on grants of up to £5,000. The post will also offer administrative support to the department focused on mid-level giving (Vanbrugh Supporters and Guardian Angels).

The post holder will be responsible for the accurate recording of income related to Trusts and Foundations, working closely with the Head of Creative Learning and Director of Development (DoD) to identify fundable propositions within the theatre. You will assist in the planning and delivery of donor events for Vanbrugh Supporters, Guardian Angels and current and potential Major Donors, helping to ensure a culture of continuous cultivation and engagement.  You will work closely with the DoD to enable the charity’s artistic, community and organisational aspirations.

This post is full time, though for the right candidate, a pro-rata 4-day equivalent will be considered.

POST HOLDER

You will be a strong writer and an organised, enthusiastic and hard-working individual. Ready to learn and very comfortable talking to a range of people, representing yourself as informed, intelligent, calm and knowledgeable member of the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre team. Never afraid to ask questions but equally enthusiastic about looking for your own solutions. We are a happy and driven team and hope to find someone who compliments these characteristics to join us in the Development Department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Database and record keeping

· Assisting in the maintaining of donor records on the CRM.

· Recording and reporting on donor activity as directed.

· Responsible for maintaining financial data, and production of written and verbal reports as directed.

Office administration

· First point of contact for external enquiries.

· Internal liaison with the Marketing Office and Finance Office.

· Assist within the Development Department, carrying out other duties as reasonably required.  

· Administration of the Development Committee including minute taking.

Fundraising

· Write applications and evaluation reports to Trusts and Foundations for grants up to £5k in support of the theatre’s activity with a major focus on the work of the Creative Learning Programme.

· Assist with running fundraising appeals as required.

· Maintain records of funds applied for and grants awarded; manage a calendar of application and report deadlines.

· Work with the Marketing Office and Finance Office to provide funding information for promotional purposes and to report gifts and grants received.

· Researching prospective Trust and Foundation supporters and assist with the identification of potential sources of grant funding.

· As required, assist with the production of case for support literature for funding applications.

· Gather briefing and background information for face-to-face prospect meetings.

· Assist with cultivation and stewardship events as required.

· Assist with donor needs and requirements, including booking of tickets for shows for higher level Vanbrugh members and Major Donors.

· Working with the DoD and Fundraising Associate to increase the number and value of Vanbrugh supporters annually to agreed targets, ensuring regular communications with donors and Vanbrugh members to enable them to recognise the importance of their support including the quarterly newsletter, Centre Stage.

· Stewardship and cultivation of the Guardian Angels, the theatre’s regular giving scheme for lower-level donors. Working with colleagues aiming to increase the number of Guardian Angels annually and increasing their base level donations.

· Work with colleagues in Box Office, Marketing, Catering and Front of House in the facilitation of events for the department and encourage and support a culture of fundraising within the Theatre.

As Communications and Marketing Lead, you will be a key member of the Research, Impact & Influence team. You will hold end-to-end responsibility for the communications and marketing function, from developing impactful content to executing high-profile events. You will decide where and how our existing processes could be improved, as well as developing new strategies that will underpin our work as a larger and more established charity.

Areas of Responsibility

The Difference is looking for a Communications and Marketing Lead to lead our this function in the following ways:

Communications

• Storytelling & content relation: Produce engaging and informative content that showcases the impact of The Difference's work and resonates with target audiences. Develop compelling narratives and case studies that demonstrate the value of our programs and services, effectively communicating our impact and expertise.

• Media Relations & brand awareness: Proactively build relationships with journalists and key influencers to secure coverage that advances our mission and drives engagement. Support The Difference team to draft and deliver engaging and high quality content in a range of styles. Cultivate The Difference's profile and influence by planning and placing articles, blog posts, social media campaigns and reports for sector-specific and national press.

Marketing

• Sales & Marketing: Drive sales for our school leadership programmes and events through targeted marketing campaigns, including social media, developing compelling collateral, managing online advertising, and exploring innovative approaches to reach potential clients and partners.
   

• Conference Management: Lead the planning, organisation, and execution of conferences and events, including our annual IncludED conference as well as smaller focus events, designed to generate direct sales and raise awareness of The Difference's work. This includes managing budgets, logistics, marketing, and delegate experience to ensure successful and impactful events.

• Events presence: Identify and map out key events where The Difference should have a presence throughout the year. Support the wider Difference team to ensure delivery and presence feeds back to sales.
   

Person Specification

• Proven track record in marketing and communications, ideally within the children’s services or non-profit sector. This will include:

Why Work for The Difference?

Schooling isn’t working for the children who need it most. Every week in England 109 children – equivalent to three full classrooms – are permanently excluded. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Since the pandemic, school suspensions have risen significantly, as has persistent absenteeism. 1 in 5 children are missing more than 10% of their time in school. Children who are excluded or persistently absent are much more likely to already be experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage. They are more likely to live in poverty, have additional learning needs, suffer mental health challenges, or experience a lack of safety outside school. Certain ethnicities are also disproportionately affected, notably Gypsy Roma Traveller and black Caribbean children. 

Exclusion and high rates of absence can have a dramatic effect on life chances. These young people are more likely to drop out of education or employment, become vulnerable to long-term mental ill health, or be at risk of criminal exploitation. The Difference believes that children and young people deserve better and that the education system has to change.

Our Organisation 

The Difference is a young education charity, founded to change the story on lost learning.  By 2030, we want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable.
The Difference was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools. In September 2024, we published a follow-up report: Who is Losing Learning? This report broadened our definition of ‘exclusions’ to include lost learning from absence, as well as suspensions and permanent exclusions.

The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to capture this, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.

The role

The Outreach Manager will play a crucial role in devising and implementing a holistic outreach strategy, with a focus on designing and rolling out a self-sustaining outreach framework across all 25 of the Rhodes constituencies, supported by the central Outreach team at Rhodes House (comprising the Outreach Manager and the Outreach Coordinator, who reports to the Outreach Manager).

The role will be responsible for;

· Play a leading role in the development and delivery of the outreach strategy for the Rhodes Trust, supporting the 25 Rhodes constituencies as required to develop and implement tailored key outreach objectives based on the individual needs of each constituency.

· With the Outreach Coordinator, centrally manage and coordinate the Trust’s Outreach Ambassadors Programme, including the recruitment of Ambassadors (who are normally Scholars-in-Residence or recent Scholar alumni) and developing key resources, guidance and induction processes. 

• Manage the Trust’s outreach work and team: work with the Outreach Coordinator and Data Analyst to determine the priorities and oversee delivery of the relevant areas of data gathering and analysis, data visualisation and research.

· Support and steward the network of volunteers who are working on our behalf: training and mentoring outreach Ambassadors; supporting National and Deputy Secretaries and their administrative staff.

Duties and Key Responsibilities 

1. Content development:

• Work with the Information and Content Officer to research, write, edit and produce new information materials including print publications, web pages, videos, infographics and social media content.

Our Community Engagement Department enables our student community leaders to gain the knowledge, skills and connections for themselves and their student communities to thrive. Working with staff across the Community Engagement Department, this role manages the strategic development of our training provision for our 3000 student community leaders across 400+ student groups, 1000 student representatives, and our 6 full-time elected Student Officers, among other student communities.

It is an exciting time to join Changing Lives as we expand our operations into London. We are seeking an experienced, proactive and passionate Corporate and Events Fundraiser (South) to expand our small, but dynamic fundraising team.

The Corporate and Events Fundraising Manager (South) will develop and implement fundraising strategies to cultivate strong relationships with new corporate partners and organise high-impact fundraising events to increase awareness and income. The successful candidate will also support fundraising across Birmingham and Northamptonshire, where we have established front-line services.

• Working alongside the Church Engagement Manager grow the number of churches engaging in the mission of Medair through giving, prayer and awareness raising.

• Strengthen Medair UK’s engagement with churches by developing profile raising resources and ensuring all fundraising appeals are designed and delivered to maximise church take-up.

• Co-ordinate all requests for speakers in Churches ensuring that, wherever possible, a Medair UK staff member or Alumni, is available to speak and well briefed.

• Be responsible for the receipting and acknowledgement of all financial support from churches. Maintain and update key contact details for each supporting church on Medair UK’s CRM 

Alumni Support 

• Oversee the Medair UK alumni network. Prepare, manage and disseminate all Medair UK communications to the UK based members of the Alumni network.

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a maternity cover for our Trust & Foundations Manager role. Passionate about Trust Fundraising at a high level and about UNHCR’s work, this role is involved in the cultivation and stewardship of some our biggest and most established trust and foundation donors.

You will join our small but talented Philanthropy Team supporting on identifying and bringing on board new and prospective trust and foundation supporters, and securing repeat income from key relationships.

You will work closely with the Head of Philanthropy, CEO, trustees and international colleagues to steward and cultivate donor relationships. An experienced fundraiser, you will provide strategic insight into how we grow and improve our programme. 

You will be confident in navigating complex environments with multiple stakeholders and in negotiating internally as well as externally. You will enjoy developing strong relationships, have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and will be adept at managing prospect pipelines and crafting compelling donor communications.

• Manage the Senior Officer working on trusts and foundations.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE 

Essential Experience

• Experience of working in an income generating capacity within an NGO, INGO or fundraising organisation to identify, approach, secure and steward trusts & foundation gifts at the five, six and seven figure gift level.
• Experience of developing donor care plans and delivering bespoke proposals and communications to generate income.
• Experience of managing a prospect pipeline.
• Experience working on complex proposals involving multiple stakeholders.

Essential Skills/Knowledge  

• Confident communicator with the ability to effectively influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse reports and communicate complex themes and subjects in an accessible and compelling manner in writing and verbally.
• Ability to act proactively to identify new prospects and fundraising opportunities.
• Ability to negotiate internally and externally, delivering mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Ability to juggle and prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines within a collaborative team environment.
• Good attention to detail, ability to proof-read.
• Able to demonstrate flexibility, with a willingness to respond quickly, particularly at times of humanitarian crisis.
• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills.
• Proficient in using Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of fundraising databases.

 Desirable Skills/Experience 

• Experience of line management.
• Experience using Salesforce.
