Director – Horse Rangers Association
The Horse Rangers Association (Hampton Court) (HRA) is a young people’s charity, supporting personal development by teaching the management and riding of horses. It also works to encourage and develop young people and adults with disabilities who participate in our Riding for the Disabled (RDA) lessons during the week.The organisation has just celebrated its 70th anniversary. It is led by our Director, who reports to our board of trustees, and is based at the Bushy Park Stockyard. The work with young people is delivered by a senior volunteer team mainly at weekends, supported by the Stable Manager and her staff team, with organisation and back up support by the office team. The charity looks after 25 horses, and teaches riding and horse husbandry, to our 300 Ranger members.
Our Director is retiring this autumn after six successful years and we are looking to appoint his successor. The salary is £55k - £65k, with a range of other benefits and the option of flexible hours working.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES OF JOB
Leadership
● Developing and setting future strategic direction to ensure that the charity evolves and remains both relevant and financially stable in today’s environment.
● Management of Office and Stable teams, providing leadership and support to both.
● Building strong working relationships between the Stable staff, Riding for the Disabled Volunteers, Officers, parents, donors and members of the HRA, and Trustees.
● Acts as an ambassador for the HRA organisation when organising and leading on HRA key activities and events throughout the year.
● Working to create a highly motivated team that works together to achieve shared goals, developing budgets and plans, conducting appraisals and providing coaching.
● Continuously develop and improve systems and processes undertaken by the HRA team, ensuring particularly the maximisation of membership and fundraising income.
● Ensuring the highest standard of safeguarding when working with children.
Fundraising Strategy
● Leading on the development of the HRA to achieve a long term fundraising strategy in line with the vision and values of HRA.
● Developing and implementing a clear fundraising strategy to secure ongoing funding, including identification of new areas of growth, work programme opportunities and diverse funding streams.
● Developing publicity and marketing tools (including digital) to maximise fundraising income.
● Building, maintaining, and overseeing the stewardship of key stakeholder relationships throughout the year.
● Preparing the annual fundraising plan to ensure that HRA is financially secure and able to achieve its objectives in the future.
Communications and Events Management
● Developing and implementing a communications plan to ensure publicity and marketing of fundraising activities throughout the year.
● Encouraging and actively engaging in positive cross-communications between Stable staff, Senior Volunteers, RDA Volunteers and weekend members.
● Keeping staff, members and Trustees informed of events throughout the year.
● Seeking, listening and responding to the views and ideas of staff and members.
Estate Management
● Ensuring all aspects of maintenance are managed, liaising with appropriate services.
● Developing and managing strong working relationships with key stakeholders in estate management, while reviewing the future needs of the charity including possible future sites.
Performance

● Continually monitoring performance against targets and communicating this to trustees.

Role purpose:
The overall purpose of the role is to work closely with the COO to support the delivery of ShelterBox’s Mission, strategy, and plan.
The role of Business Operations Manager will play a key role in coordinating the delivery of 2022 – 2027 Strategy, supporting the operations of the organisation including internal communications across the global org, and assisting with the delivery of the strategy through accountability, structure, engagement, skill sharing, and communications.
Who are we looking for?
ShelterBox is seeking an accomplished and highly competent individual to provide excellent operational support to the organisation. You must have proven experience of roles where you have had a high degree of autonomy and highly developed planning and organisational skills.
We are looking for candidates with experience in strategy, internal communications and improving operational efficiency. Ideally, you will also have knowledge or experience of working for the voluntary sector or a charity.
This is a varied and busy role and to be successful you must have strong prioritisation and time management skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills along with the ability to develop effective and positive working relationships internally and externally.
You will be a strong team player, who can also work autonomously to clear deadlines. You must also be able to analyse and summarise large amounts of information quickly.
Strong interpersonal, relationship management and influencing skills are also important, as is the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders with different agendas
The role requires a rigorous and critical thinker, able to ask probing clear questions and drive toward solutions quickly. Main role and responsibilities
The Business Operations Manager will:
· Support the COO with overseeing strategy delivery, ensuring the coordination of strategic projects and providing project support where needed.
· Manage the strategy accountability framework.
· Support organisational engagement and internal communications.
· Enhance operational efficiency.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
· Representing the COO where appropriate in working groups/meetings internally.
· Working with COO and strategy owners to set targets and overseeing delivery against budgets / timescales in line with the organisational strategic plan.
· Managing strategy reporting: tracking KPIs and deliverables/outputs.
· Supporting projects to meet strategic KPIs including specific support (on a short-term basis) for delivery.
· Keeping current on progress, risks, etc for 9 organisational Strategic Objectives
· Supporting the refreshing / revising of strategic objectives and KPIs as needed
· Future scanning external landscape to ensure strategy objectives still relevant and achievable.
· Managing quarterly Strategy Delivery Board with COO (Chair) and relevant accountability mechanisms for strategy reporting/collating. Presenting dashboard.
· Communicating our strategy to internal stakeholders, helping them find and feel their place in it on an ongoing basis.
· Actively instigating senior stakeholders, including the Executive Team, to communicate frequently and with clarity to the wider organisation.
· Support timely and effective dissemination of internal communication, keeping all stakeholders across the ShelterBox network updated on delivery of our mission and strategy.
· Supporting identification of key communications themes and messages from meetings you attend.
· Working with the COO to deliver projects relating to operational efficiencies.
· Provide holiday cover for key organisational duties as appropriate.

The role
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Income Generation to join our senior leadership team. This new and pivotal role will be responsible for developing and implementing robust income generation strategies to diversify and grow our funding and trading streams.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising or sales, building strategic partnerships, and driving innovation in income generation. As a key player in our organisation, you will lead a dedicated team and work collaboratively to ensure the sustainability and expansion of our vital programmes.
Key responsibilities
Income Generation Strategy:

Develop and execute a comprehensive income generation strategy that aligns with the charity’s mission and goals;

Identify and explore new income streams, including fundraising, partnerships, and product development.
Fundraising:

Oversee all fundraising activities, including trusts and foundations and individual giving;

Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, funders, and sponsors;

Oversee bids and pitches;

We are seeking a dynamic and organised Office Assistant to join our team. The primary function of the role is to keep the office running smoothly; you will also be supporting our trustees and governance of the charity, as well as assisting with recruitment and HR administration.
You will be someone who enjoys building productive relationships with people at all levels, both in person and online; the role includes managing our Executive Directors Diary, and organising Trustee meetings, so that will include liaison with our trustees, important funders and partners – a high level of verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Office
Keeping the office tidy and well managed – this includes:

This is a key role, developing and shaping an innovative portfolio of career development programmes helping the next generation of researchers reach their full potential. You will be primarily responsible for managing the Academy’s Cross-sector programme, bringing together researchers and innovators across life sciences sectors at regional cross-sector hubs to promote innovation. In addition, you will lead the team delivering our scientific conference for clinical academics and manage INSPIRE, our programme to encourage medical, dental and veterinary undergraduate students to undertake research.
In this role, you will lead on developing and maintaining our partnerships with external organisations we fund to deliver the cross-sector events around the UK, building relationships with key people and working with them to ensure work is delivered to a high quality and evaluated to demonstrate we are achieving our aims. You will identify and implement innovations to improve our events and other activities, manage relationships with funders who support these programmes and contribute to funding proposals. You will also engage with the wider grants, programmes and policy teams work, connecting in relevant researchers and sharing your expertise in career development support. In addition, all Academy staff are encouraged to take part in cross-team projects, for example in promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in our activities and to contribute to initiatives such as staff learning sessions and networking opportunities.
This role is offered as a secondment or fixed term contract of 4 months from 1 December 2024 to 31 March 2025.

The Magpie Project supports women with preschool children who are living in temporary or insecure accommodation in Newham and other London boroughs. We provide stay-and-play sessions alongside casework around housing, immigration, and other related issues, plus healthy home-made food, a baby bank, and a focus on high-quality play and creativity for mums and minis to foster a sense of joy and belonging.
We advocate and campaign, alongside our mums, on the issues which have the greatest impact on their lives. We have grown quickly since our birth in 2017, and we now support over 500 families a year with 11 members of staff and a turnover of approximately £500,000 pa.
We are in a positive position with regards to our fundraising and finances, with several long-term core grants as well as smaller project grants, a number of corporate partners who donate both time and money to the project, and a loyal community of individual donors and fundraisers.
We wear our values on our sleeve and our fundraising, like everything else we do, is grounded in honouring the dignity and agency of the mums and minis who attend the project.
Our three-word strategy has always been “ask the mums”, which keeps us agile, dynamic, and responsive to the needs of the families we support. As our Fundraising Manager you will need to be able to communicate these values to current and future funders and develop strong long-term relationships with those who share our values – and push back on those who don’t.
We are looking for someone with a passion for writing and communicating with donors of different kinds. You will lead on all our fundraising, mainly from trusts and foundations but also developing new partnerships with corporate partners, with the support of our CEO and the full backing of our trustees. We don’t believe in fundraisers who sit in ivory towers and have no connection to the work being funded. You will be embedded in the project, building relationships with frontline colleagues as well as mums and minis, so that you can tell our story to the best of your ability as you build our donor and income base.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop fundraising plans to secure the income needed to deliver our work.
• Identify new fundraising opportunities across current donor groups and explore options to diversify our income streams.
• Research and write compelling grant proposals to foundations, local authorities, and other grant-making entities, and develop reports in line with funder requirements.
• Develop long-term relationships with funders and partners based in our organisational values and principles.
• Support colleagues to maintain accurate and relevant monitoring and evaluation information (data and case studies) to support funding applications and reports.
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify funding needs and support the development of new programmes with a view to maximising their fundraising potential.

We’re currently looking for a Membership & Operations Assistant to join our busy team. Our offices are based on Bedford Row / Theobalds Road in Holborn, London. The role offers some potential for hybrid working after initial training.
The role
As part of our member services team, you will assist with the smooth-running of activities in our London office. We’re looking for a tech-confident person to help with routine membership and database processes. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for fielding incoming calls to the SoA and emails to the info@ email address, as well as updating member records. And as we’re just about to implement a new membership database, you will assist the team with testing and introduction across the organisation. The successful candidate will also be supporting in building management, staff and tenant needs in addition to deputising in the absence of the Head of Operations.
