Role Purpose
You will help people to speak up and act for themselves, by providing a statutory service to qualifying individuals under the Mental Health Act 1983. This can include listening and providing information and representing people’s views by speaking on their behalf. You may be asked to support people by attending Best Interests Meetings, Review Meetings, Hospital Manager’s Meetings, Mental Health Review Tribunals, Ward Round Meetings and Care Plan Approach meetings.
We must also provide community/generic advocacy to Ealing residents over 18. You will ensure that people have their voice heard, rights understood and feel more in control of decisions affecting them in relation to their care and treatment.
This role is for maternity cover for a period of 6 months, based within our Advocacy Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide people with information about their rights
- Help people understand the information given to them and the options available
- When required liaise with key health care professionals on behalf of individuals when required
- Delivering Advocacy Awareness training and other workshops when required
- Administrative duties include the completion of case notes, quarterly reports, managing the inbox, triaging referrals to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements, onboarding clients onto the database
- Action planning with the client, identifying goals and empowering them to create this document and own it collaboratively
- Work in line with the Advocacy Charter
- Following our non-instructed advocacy policy to ensure those who have communication issues, still get effective representation
You will have:
- A IMHA (Independent Mental Health Advocate) qualification / experience.
- Experience of Safeguarding, identifying concerns and raising appropriately

What we need from you

Title: Team Manager Family Service.
Reports to: Head of Primary Care & Family Services

Main responsibilities
· To manage and oversee the day to day running of the family service, ensuring it is operating in a safe and effective manner.
· To monitor the quality-of-service delivery and ensure its high standards through regular and planned series of observations, audit and review.
· Lead on monitoring outcomes against the Supporting Families Programme framework criteria.
· To report on and collate monthly and quarterly data collection.
· To attend quarterly Commissioner meetings.
· Lead on the recruitment of Family Support Workers
· Support the Head of Family Services in overseeing the continual development of the Family Service.
· To engage and encourage appropriate referrals to the service by regular attending Early Help Hub/Family Hub meetings.

· To identify and manage FSW’s sickness absence and performance management where applicable.
· Provide appropriate monthly supervision to both Family Team Seniors.
· Lead in the recruitment of family workers, development of job specifications, staff recruitment, staff induction programmes, appropriate supervision and support training for new staff and volunteers.
· Supervise Safety Net recording system and ensure staff are managing workload efficiently and achieving a high standard.
· Helping to ensure new funding streams are maintained by implementing delivery in practical and cost-efficient ways.
· Manage the process of allocating new cases to FSW’s and FCs, ensuring key performance indicators are met.
· Collate monthly performance data to evidence accurate information of family case participation and engagement.

About CAT
The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is an internationally renowned environmental charity, a world-leading eco centre, and one of the foremost providers of postgraduate environmental education in the UK, based near Machynlleth in Powys, Mid Wales.
CAT provides inspiration, education and training in solutions to the climate and biodiversity emergency.
Key activities include residential short courses, vocational training and postgraduate degrees in a wide range of sustainability-related topics, with online courses and events offered alongside in-person learning.
CAT launched the Zero Carbon Britain Hub and Innovation Lab in 2020 with support from the Moondance Foundation. This was initially a three year project and received further funding from the Moondance Foundation to run the Innovation Lab for a further three years. The aim of the project is to improve the capacity of councils and communities to turn climate emergency declarations into action and create systemic change in order to increase resilience to climate change.
This will be achieved by offering a programme of support aimed at increasing the competence, confidence and effectiveness of policy makers, communities and organisations in developing zero carbon policies and action plans. This support will include: using the Zero Carbon Britain model to provide people with the knowledge to create Zero Carbon Action Plans; delivering Zero Carbon Britain training using a ‘train the trainer’ model to increase the skills and capacity of communities to take action on climate change; supplying the tools to enable people to turn climate emergency declarations into action; setting up a digital resource hub and online network to provide peer support and increase confidence of individuals and communities to take action on climate change. In conjunction with the Zero Carbon Britain Hub, an Innovation Lab will identify key issues, priorities and tasks; develop ideas that impact on these areas; and create routes into larger scale impact or systems change.

Main purpose of the role:
As Team Leader you will line manage a team of adult social care Support Workers who support adults with learning disabilities, in a supported Living house.
The Team Leader supports the Registered Care Manager in creating and promoting community and a sense of home, leading the service delivery in line with L’Arche values, traditions and standards, and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC].
As our Team Leader, you will be responsible for the smooth and safe running of one of our supported living houses. This will include managing and creating the monthly rotas, updating and managing digital care plans and risk assessments, supporting and supervising assistants (including inducting new team members). Also, overseeing reporting such as medication records, health and safety, and quality assurance checks, implementing the planning and undertaking of meaningful activity, taking part in support reviews, ensuring training is relevant and up to date, and working as part of the senior leadership team to maintain a high quality of care.
Essential Criteria
- Experience of leadership in adult social care in a supported living or care home setting;
- A record of accomplishment of effectively leading and managing team performance, such as providing clear objectives, reviewing outcomes, putting in place develpment plans, and taking appropriate action to deal with poor performance;
- Ability to guide, support and teach the essential skills of supporting people with disabilities;
- Supportive of the identity, mission and values of L'Arche and enthusiastic about working within a community organisation rated Outstanding by the CQC;
- Level 3 Health & Social Care Diploma (adult care) or equivalent, or proven ability and equivalent experience combined with willingness to study at this level in accordance with community policy;
